I don't know how long was it, but it's not relevant, I think that he had quite a majority in the parliament, and, as you said, he's also the president.

Did you get why I mentioned senior people? Nayib Bukele was the president who stepped forward. But, In Mexico's case. Mr Andrés Manuel López Obrador is already 68 and I have a feeling that he doesn't understand What Bitcoin is. But, let's see what happens.

No, I don't want that. And I have the real deal here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5251894.msg61060190#msg61060190

No one will know that. Only you and me  Grin  Roll Eyes

I don't expect this to happen overnight.

Me neither. There are so many steps to pass, there are so many places the opposition can make this fail or get delayed, ... this is how the laws go from idea to reality (or to oblivion).
For now we can be happy for the news and... wait.

I cannot recall how long El Salvador took after their first announcement. They were able to do it faster because of their President Himself. Nayib Bukele Himself was the main guy behind it. According to research, Most the 60s people (Or older than that) don't understand Bitcoin. So, If you have more senior people in the government, it would be tough for them.

BTW, @NeuroticFish, Congrats For reaching the 5K Merit Club.

Thank you for getting me (exactly) there.
Luckily I managed to make a print screen before OutOfMemory took me to 5001  Cheesy

Heh, Don't worry. We have Inspect Element in Browser. Inspect Element made me Legendary too many times. I just took this now for you.

Mexico Will adopt Bitcoin as Legal tender.

So it'll get to US doorsteps. Interesting...
Now let's see when will this get real, actually.

I don't expect this to happen overnight.
I don't know how much power she holds as a Senator. According to the Google. Mexico has 128 Senators, and she is one of them. If most of the Senators agree with her, it will be possible. The President of the Senate in Mexico is Olga Sánchez Cordero. I would be more than confident if I heard something from her too. Anyways, Best Wishes to Mexico. Make it Orage BTC

25  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core is not syncing well on: October 01, 2022, 04:36:05 PM
Whatever, Why do you want to know those things? According to you, You already uninstalled Bitcoin core and deleted all the files.
This would help other users to quickly launch their Bitcoin Node without spending several weeks on it, but by coping with it in a few tens of hours

I believe other users care about their security. They won't download 460 GB of Data from unknown sources. If they want to Run a Full node, they will spend their time downloading the entire blockchain. People with good internet connections could download the whole blockchain within two days. Don't think for others. Oil your own machine.

Suggest to others: Please don't waste your time here unless you have spare time. OP had some issues over a month ago, and now he doesn't even have Bitcoin core installed. He was trying to gather information for other users to quickly launch their Bitcoin Node.

Blockchain already weighs 460 GB? It turns out it will not fit on a 465 GB HDD? Is there any compression? Can built-in HDD data compression help me?

Yeah. According to the ycharts. The Bitcoin Block size is 429 GB as of 30th September. But, As you can see from the screenshot below, My backup folder is already 459 GB.

When a PC with an installed and fully synchronized blockchain turned off and turned on again, does it start indexing blocks for a long time?

Yes, it does when it wasn't closed gracefully. You are looking for 460 GB of files from the internet. After you download all the blocks, you still need to reindex them, which will take a long time. Depends on your system. This is not a problem. But what if there is a virus if it was compressed within a zip file? What if you unzip and some malware is installed on your device? Instead, Run the Bitcoin core and let it download the blocks. I spend over a month and a half just downloading the blocks.
28  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core is not syncing well on: September 30, 2022, 04:11:01 PM
The problem is that Bitcoin Core just hangs and nothing happens, synchronization stops completely, nothing works. I don't think that this is due to system requirements, because many 1,000-s of blocks are synchronized with absolutely no problems, and only then problems begin on some block, everything stops and nothing happens, so this is a system error. That's why I ask for this folder with more than 400 GB of data uploaded to Facebook because data is instantly loaded from it because any other site can have a bandwidth problem

Suppose you want to make it synchronized. Please give us more information about your problem. I had the same issue as yours, and I let it do whatever it wanted. After a while, it started synchronizing again. According to you, You are on windows. Make sure to check peer tabs. There will be ten connections (8 of them will be Full Relay). Check the Network traffic tab and make sure it's downloading/uploading data. Also, Check the bedug.txt file from the backup folder. Open the file and Scroll down. Take a screenshot and post it here so everyone can see and help if something is wrong.

Friend of mine that works for one of the biggest hedge funds tells me the BTC is going to zero value against the USD

Forget about your friend. Tell me what you think about it.
When was the last time you saw the BTC was zero? Ahaam. can't remember?
No worries. It happens. Let me tell you a recent story.

A Few days ago, In Lebanon, A armed customer robs the bank to get his money.

Two seemingly armed and desperate Lebanese depositors held up banks on Wednesday to force access to their own money, which has been blocked during a national financial meltdown. One woman with a gun and some associates briefly held hostages at a branch of BLOM Bank in the capital Beirut, before leaving with more than $13,000 in cash from her account, a source from a depositors’ advocacy group said.

Shortly afterwards, in the mountain city of Aley, an armed man entered a Bankmed branch and retrieved some of his trapped savings, before handing himself into authorities, the Depositors Outcry and a security source said. Lebanon’s banks have locked most depositors out of their savings since an economic crisis took hold three years ago, leaving much of the population unable to pay for basics.

In a phenomenon illustrating the plight, Wednesday’s holdups came after a man last month held up another Beirut bank to withdraw funds to treat his sick father.

BLOM Bank said a customer and accomplices arrived with a gun, threatened to set people on fire, and forced the branch manager and treasurer to bring money from a safe.

‘Nothing more to lose’
Before going into hiding, the woman, Sali Hafiz, told local news channel Al Jadeed TV the gun was a toy and that she needed the money for her sister’s cancer treatment.

“I have nothing more to lose, I got to the end of the road,” she said, saying a visit to the bank manager two days previously had not provided an adequate solution.
“I got to a point where I was going to sell my kidney so that my sister could receive treatment.”

BLOM confirmed the customer had been in to seek her money for her sister’s treatment, saying she was offered total cooperation and requested to provide documentation.

“All we have is this money in the bank. My daughter was forced to take this money – it’s her right, it’s in her account – to treat her sister,” her mother Hiam Hafiz told local TV.

Authorities did not immediately comment on the incidents.

And I think you mean the USD hit ATH against the British pound.

Right. My bad.

Found this on Twitter. Where is the halving event in 2024? I guess it should pump right after the Halving event.

That's Massive. Isn't it?

The British pound is down 12% since the Bank of England Governor said "Be prepared to lose all your money" in Bitcoin and crypto.

Hehe. A Savage reply from Bitcoin Community.  USD already hit ATH against the British pound.

Bitcointalk really just has one purpose now and theymos has one job, and that is to make sure satoshi's posts remain accessible and in tact.

Wow! Interesting. But I am not surprised.
Even though this is the main goal of Bitcointalk, It's created many opportunities for thousands of people to make money and live their lives. This forum won't make money from ads if theymos doesn't accept offers. So, This is now purely dedicated to Satoshi and his posts only. Also, Some great people like Hal Finney and Laszlo Hanyecz.

@NotATether, What do you think about https://en.bitcoinwiki.org ?
