21  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: 2500 I0 coins for 4.5 BTC on: August 19, 2011, 05:23:55 PM
I don't understand.
Are you buying or selling?
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I0Coin is a SCAM on: August 19, 2011, 01:24:49 AM
doublec makes some nice profit off transaction fees, I wonder if he would make more or less off a direct trade. Interesting...
0.2% is not a large fee. The i0coin exchange made 3 bitcoins since opening in fees. I'm not sure that qualifies as 'nice profit'.
I think 0.2% is a very fair fee.
You need to implement some kind of Tobin Tax.
Otherwise someone with a large number of coin will sell small amounts to themselves raising the market price and creating a false demand for the coins before unloading their stash to unsuspecting buyers.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 18, 2011, 08:35:39 AM
It's more profitable to mine ixcoins now.
I thought people had more faith this.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I not selling for at least a couple weeks.

270,000 volume on bitparking exchange!
That's almost half the total.
Why are people selling so early?
25  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: I'm very happy with http://www.canadianbitcoins.com on: August 14, 2011, 05:39:07 PM
That is really fast.  Their rates aren't too bad small transactions.
If I were to do anything over $200 I'd use cavirtex for a better exchange rate.

Price drop.

This is useless now with starter edition, isn't it?
This gives access to the full game.  The starter edition doesn't allow you to play online against human players.
Lies, you can play custom games using Terran on a rotating set of maps.
If this does not give you access to the full game for 7 hours I will give a full refund.
This trial came with a purchase of a Nvidia card.
It's value is $14.99.  Please get your facts straight before crapping over my thread.

Looks like I need to buy some more 5830s for the epic 8-way crossfire I was planning when mining goes kaput Wink
I think you should do a little research on crossfire first.

One final thing, the stock coolers on the Sapphire HD5850 Xtreme cards are known to fail if they are set to 100% speed for a few weeks.

Where did you here this? A GPU fan should last a few years running at 100%.

From these forums (I've been away for 2 weeks and don't have links for the threads).  I've just re-read my statement and it's not really fair.  I don't mean to imply that all 5850 Xtreme coolers will fail within a few weeks if left at 100%, just that more than a few have failed.  I certainly didn't struggle to sell my 5850 Xtreme coolers after I'd installed my Zalmans.

OK.  I guess I should be careful with mine.  Thanks for the warning.

38  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: which of these 2 pools should I choose? on: August 09, 2011, 09:45:23 PM

If the pool mines 1000shares and I mined 10shares and the pool get one block I get: 10/1000*50BTC= 0.50BTC???
^^^^ or is that proportional lol

No this is proportional.  SMPPS would pay 50BTC(10/difficulty) as long as there are enough funds available to cover the payments.  You're right to say in the long run they both work out to be the same but the future of bitcoins cannot be predicted.
39  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: which of these 2 pools should I choose? on: August 09, 2011, 09:12:20 PM
I'd would choose Arsbitcoin or Eligius.  Which ever one works better for you.
Since your not mining 24/7 a pay per share pool would produce more consistent payouts.
You won't have to worry about missing a short round while gaming.

"Attempting major illicit transactions with bitcoin, given existing statistical analysis techniques deployed in the field by law enforcement, is pretty damned dumb."

If that was true, then they could find the coins stolen from mybitcoin or whatever it was and then get them all back and arrest the people who stole the coins.

I don't think any law enforcement agency would care about stolen bitcoins.  There is nothing for them to gain by pursuing this type of theft.
