Blockchain has been running a lot smoother since the diff change and block 600, last 24 hours have seen an average of 15 min per block, a little faster than the 20 minute blocktime, but better than the long blocks we had prior to the update.

We are past block 600 and the diff change has taken effect, we now recalculate diff after every block, so block times should start to be more consistent.
It looks like blocks are moving a lot better than they were before, only time will tell how close we stay to 20 min per block at this point, but so far it's looking pretty good. |

200 EBG for even a single user is nothing. I will suggest to increase block reward of reduce confirmations/block time. Else this coin will not get any clutch in exchange markets. 200 EBG right now is just below 1% of all the EBG that is available in the market right now, since that is all that has been confirmed at this point, so while it's not a ton, it is close to 1% of all that's out there, I don't think you'd be able to get someone to give away 1% of all of what is out there of Bitcoin or Darkcoin in a giveaway. The block reward is slowly increasing and will increase to 500 EBG per block by the time it reaches block 2268. The confirmations and block time will not be changed as it is fundamental to this coin. Seems like too much of anything is killing. Let's see how your idea pans out. I would ideally like to see us as a very stable coin that can hold it's own value without too much volatility being dumped, the 20 minute block time is a little protection against dumping since it will take over an hour for a transaction to be moved from a wallet to an exchange, or between exchanges. With the total number of coins available being only a little over 7 million with very little inflation per year after that (around .3%) the coin has the capability of storing at least 3x the Bitcoin value if we can get community support behind it. While this may just be a dream to be able to store that amount, I see that it could definitely be possible. This is designed more as an investment coin that can maintain value and hopefully have gradual growth, rather than a day to day transaction currency with a volatile price. However all markets can be volatile and I wouldn't listen to me for investment advice, but I think we definitely have potential, we just have to build up the community behind it and get interest into the coin, which is why I'm trying to do some giveaways with the coins I have and I don't have too much at the moment, there are definitely other miners out there with more holdings than myself. What are the plans for promoting? No innovation in the OP than limiting the coin supply. We are still getting all the plans together for promotion of the coin, we have been waiting for the initial ramp up phase to finish and will start with more promotions once we reach the 500 EBG per block phase. If you have any suggestions for things you would like to see done for promotion we are definitely willing to listen. |

Any profitability calculator for this coin?
Not yet, and I wouldn't expect one until volume picks up on an exchange and we possibly get picked up by a larger exchange. Volume is fairly low on the exchanges right now. We have a giveaway coming up soon with some coins which I hope will bring a little bit more traffic to this thread and to the coin so we can start getting a larger community going. |

Just an observation watching other markets move around, but with only 21 Million Bitcoin to ever come into circulation, and all markets being based on bitcoin we really need a new currency that can store the value of bitcoin as possibly higher values that can be invested in that is harder to change the price of to free up the bitcoin for other transactions. With 3 times less supply than bitcoin (with minimal inflation after year 3) and double the block time (which makes it harder to transfer around and dump prices) could Embargocoin possibly fill this need?

I'm afraid to say we won't be listing the coin on the MintPal voting list at
current. We are taking a stronger stance on coins with a large pre-mine, little
community and/or unknown developers going forward.

While it would have been nice to have been listed on voting on mintpal it also makes sense to have community behind the coin first as it would be hard to garner votes if we don't have community backing, so rather than take this as defeat, we should take this as a challenge to get more people on-board and to gain acceptance for the coin. We at least meet one of the conditions currently in that we have 0 pre-mine. |

I think the buy orders are people that know the true value and are trying it on before the word gets out and real trading starts... 50000ebg for 100doge lol
Yeah, I know personally I put in a low buy order to try and catch any EBG from people that just wanted to dump, but with the low supply right now I doubt we'll have many dumpers real low, which will be good. |

The scarcity and difficulty to get things are for sure affecting their price. But demand does also. Currently there are sell orders at 0.002 BTC and buy orders at 0.00000601 BTC for EBG at https://coin-swap.net/market/EBG/BTCTime will tell in which direction the price moves... So very true, and now is the time to start working on increasing the demand for the coin. |

Someone put up a low sell order? And remember there are only around 6150 EBG that have actually been confirmed out to people at this point with 50 more coming each block until block 472 when 100 more start confirming with each block. the guy divided the next highest price by 100, wish I could barter with these people! Ah yeah, that guy. Will be interesting to see what the market will go for, with the low total coins over the life of the coin it has the potential to be higher, and it might take a little while to see the true potential with the long block times, but it definitely makes it a harder coin to dump. |

Unfortunately I found a slight issue with the diff calculation, to fix it I am pushing an update out which will require a fork, I set it to fork at block 600 and have updated the wallets and source code, please make sure you download the newest version of the wallet from the Original post and pool operators please recompile from github. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
Does the fixed wallet show the same version as the first one (v0.8.99.1-g1234abcd-beta)? It seems so... Or the download http://embargocoin.com/wallets/embargocoin-qt.zip hasn't changed (I haven't tried the other locations). That is confusing... Yeah, sorry about that, in my haste to fix the diff I neglected to increase the version number. All the download links have been corrected and all files have been updated. I'll make sure to increase the version with any subsequent changes that may come down the line, nothing in the works at the moment though. |
