21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Even us *legendary* members were *newbies* once on: August 20, 2014, 08:27:28 PM
I am surprised to know members here sell their accounts. I assume that means they're not flush with money as everybody says? Tongue

The whole account selling thing is a problem but as long as the forum is going to allow it I think everyone needs to be warned not to trust accounts just because of "their status".

If you ever see my account offering some *investment* then know that it is not me (in my entire post history I have never done that)!

Solid advice. Though I doubt that many (if any) Legendary level accounts have been sold, I am sure many JR-SR and even some hero level accounts have so checking the post history is the best way to be safe.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are miners HODLers? on: August 20, 2014, 08:24:43 PM
Most miners are dumpers for the simple reason that they have massive electric bills to pay every month.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Opinions] IF you could improve/add/remove 1 thing to bitcoin what would it be? on: August 20, 2014, 08:21:58 PM

Shitty gambling adverts from people's signatures. You do nothing to promote a positive all inclusive image of Bitcoin by pandering and trying to profit from others vices/addictions.

Just because someone is a part of a signature campaign doesn't mean that they are only posting to promote said signature!

Personally, I am more turned off by people who put their Bitcoin and Litecoin addresses in their signature hoping for a handout  Roll Eyes

That's an easy one: transaction time, transaction time and transaction time.

Imagine if everything was the same except  your transactions confirmed instantly (or almost instantly). The transaction times are really the only problem I see with Bitcoin in it's current form.

I guess blockchain size as well, but that's not the main thing as most people are using online or light clients anyway.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So is Bitcoin the Greatest thing since Sliced Bread? on: August 20, 2014, 08:15:47 PM
Never saw the appeal of sliced bread.
A whole loaf is just as manageable.

HAHA, WTF? Is someone using a doorstop to cut that loaf of bread?!
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So is Bitcoin the Greatest thing since Sliced Bread? on: August 20, 2014, 08:14:42 PM
I would go so far as saying that Bitcoin is the best application developed for use on the Internet to date.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What have you been doing with your Bitcoin in light of the price drop? on: August 20, 2014, 08:12:36 PM
I have been hodling it safely in my local wallet  Grin
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ideas for promoting bitcoin to mass public on: August 20, 2014, 08:11:46 PM
The best promotion is adoption by large online companies. All we need is Amazon and Ebay and then anyone who hasn't heard of Bitcoin will!

Starfish organisations are decentralised & regenerative, so they are very lean & simple, but highly effective, and almost impossible to defeat.

That is IT, a starfish!

initial sketch for logo

Very nice idea for a logo IMO.

I agree 100% The starfish shape also reminds me of a cog in a machine, so that shape says "organic decentralised machine" to me, which is pretty cool Smiley

I agree, I love the logo - it is like a cog from nature! Great job gvans!
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why can't the Bitcoin development be more like Linux? on: July 08, 2014, 01:12:57 PM
It would be awesome though.... coders all around the world constantly improving and enhancing Bitcoin. But the logistics would be a nightmare.
31  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin and money laundering on: July 04, 2014, 09:13:29 AM

People should be able to do whatever they damn well please with THEIR money!
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin - Where can I buy and/or watch it? on: June 24, 2014, 06:28:26 PM
I sure hope this is released as a torrent or at least a very low cost digital download, payable in BTC of course  Smiley
33  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Why localbitcoins dont need KYC ? on: June 24, 2014, 06:26:46 PM
I wouldn't be surprised at all if one day some alphabet soup agency sets up a honey pot on localbitcoins and goes after people doing large transactions. They'll simply say that those people are big bad terrorists.
34  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-18] IBT: Failed Bitcoin Exchange MtGox Approved for US Chapter 15 on: June 24, 2014, 06:24:53 PM
Is there going to be any sort of formal questioning of Karpeles? I mean, it is so obvious that at the very least he has committed a massive fraud... to think he will just file bankruptcy and get away with it is truly sickening!
35  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-23] btc mag: An Interview With Jeffrey Smith, CIO of GHash.io on: June 24, 2014, 06:23:06 PM
To hell with Ghash, it is a disgrace to the entire philosophy behind Bitcoin!
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Negative Interest Rates and Cryptocurrencies on: June 20, 2014, 09:42:53 AM
It sure seems like the traditional banking system is shooting themselves in the foot. The question is, can they really be that oblivious or is it part of a bigger plan?
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kevin Rose and Philip Rosedale Discuss Bitcoin on: June 20, 2014, 09:41:17 AM
I can't remember where but somewhere I read that Rose is a big supporter of Peercoin.

The Screensavers forever!!

Not at all because if you look at the people who will be bidding it is obvious that they will be hodling, not dumping  Cheesy
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm having some doubts about whether it's ethical to make money off of Bitcoin on: June 11, 2014, 12:07:44 PM
The thing is that Bitcoin has an entire economy around it and has provided countless people with employment so I don't think it is fair to look at it like some sort of pyramid scheme that requires more and more people to keep piling in.

To me, to say it is unethical to profit from Bitcoin would be the same as saying it is unethical to profit off of gold or real estate.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on-the-street today on: May 28, 2014, 04:36:31 PM
I have also tried to introduce it to some friends and coworkers but they usually feel that they just aren't "technical" enough and/or unwilling to take on the risk. The technical issues will go away over time with easier and easier to use wallets and services, but as for the exchange rate risk.... I don't have a response for that one.
