It sounds like a wicked cool idea!

You should get to work on it right away Wink

...or... If I broke the rules by the, um, adult language...

This whole site makes me laugh!!!  And my poor little bitcoin wallet hopes it makes you laugh too...
23  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: POLL: What's the *real* reason you ever got into Bitcoins? on: July 11, 2011, 01:09:36 AM
Because I'm a Libertarian and figured if the Federal Reserve is allowed to make money illegally why can't I!

I like your reasoning!  haha.  My reasons were similar...  call me a conspiracy theorist, but it won't be long before the US dollar is worthless...

And, in response to your sig, I too am mining at a ridiculously low pace... 3.0-3.5 Mh/s.  Thank God (or Slush) for pooled mining!
24  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Mining REALLY worth it? on: July 11, 2011, 01:01:22 AM
I'm currently mining at a little over 1 Gh/s and it just feel's discouraging i guess.. I'm trying to think of products/services I can provide for people willing to pay in BitCoin. I guess I shouldn't put all of my eggs in one basket (mining)...

Over 1Gh/s? Think about us poor folk who can only manage to mine at 1/5 of that  Sad

ppssshhh...  My GPUs won't handle mining, so I am on a pool and was THRILLED to get 3mh/s!  I am destined to be BCP (bitcoin poor) for life.  As the real world leads, it looks as though my digital world shall follow...  Sad
25  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I just needed to buy a few bitcoins,,,,,,,,, on: July 11, 2011, 12:57:41 AM
It is confusing just getting into it, I agree.  I did, however, do enough research to learn that paypal just wasn't the way to go  Grin.  Now, I have myself a brand new dwolla account as well as a couple others...

I have visited the bitcoin faucet (and if you haven't done that, it is the easiest of easy money... but just a lil bit).  It is essentially someone just giving you money without even asking for it, really.

I have researched and found that you can buy bitcoins with Linden Dollars...  if you happen to have Linden Dollars... which I don't.  I was kicking the idea around of buying said Lindens to xfer to bitcoins, but that would be expensive.  I think I am going to go the route of MtGox to get mine... eventually.

(donations are always accepted, though Wink )

The 'silk road' is not what is peaking my interest so much as the decline of the US dollar.  I am really hoping that bitcoins will be a good investment for the future, and hoping that the whole world adopts this new currency - sooner than later, of course.

Good luck in your BC journey!

Thank you for the change.  I was really concerned how I was going to come up with FIFTY newbie things to say without sounding... what's the word?... Spammy? Annoying?  Newbish?  Y'all know what I mean.

So, being new, trying to find some worthwhile things to say...  It's kinda difficult.  But y'all seem like a pretty good lot for the most part (certainly not pointing fingers... YET).

I have decided how to become a better miner...  Time to look for a computer!  One without NVidia...

Hello.  Nice to meet you all...

I'm new here.  Just learned of bitcoin a couple days ago on Youtube.  I watched the video on how bitcoin forgoes banks and traditional currency and whatnot, and was intrigued.

Immediately, I went to learning about it and giving a (pathetically weak) attempt at mining with my CPU as my graphics processor does not seem to want to do anything correctly.  (I am not looking for help, really...  I am used to my GPU sucking all the way around.  Wasn't there a time when NVidia was a respected brand??)

I look forward to participating in the forums as much as I can... but don't see myself answering questions right off.  I have a knack for computers, and am not "computer illiterate," but am a welder by trade... doesn't much assist in the production, distribution, or anything else contributing to bitcoins.

I have already been to the bitcoin faucet and got my first 0.001 BC, and have signed up with what apparently used to be called Slush's pool and earned myself an additional .002 in the last two days, so am starting out heavy at .003.

3.0 Mhash/s isn't really good, is it?  Cry

Anyways, I should have split this up to several posts to get to my 50.  Take care, look forward to meeting you all (or some), and will see you around the MB's!
