21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.6d: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: June 23, 2021, 01:50:58 AM
It looks like Radeon Software 21.6.1 is not compatible with PhoenixMiner 5.6d with the Radeon 6800.   I've gotten reports that the 5700XT is fine with the new driver, but my 6800 keeps causing a fatal error when trying to start mining.   Single GPU in the system, so nothing else to cause conflicts.

I got a new drive from amd and is it giving an error, any ideas?

What GPU and drivers are you using?
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.6d: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: June 21, 2021, 12:05:20 PM
plz add amd 6800 6900 native kernel support plz

have error  unable to set straps - unsupported GPU

What version of PhoenixMiner are you running, and what operating system?   PhoenixMiner 5.6d(see first post for information), won't be the problem, but drivers could easily be the problem.

The Powercolor Red Devil Rx 6800 XT,if power for example goes down,or internet doesn't work for some minutes, the miner completely crash one card or two and I have to make a few restarts before they stabilize. After stabilizing they work great for days without interruption if no power outages or internet connection problems. Can you fix this in the upcoming version?

That sounds more like a BIOS or power supply problem with the computer.   Check your overclock settings, but your power supply may have degraded.   I have some issues with a RAID controller where it won't pick up one of my hard drives after a cold boot, and while adding a POST delay to give it extra time to power up the drives would probably fix it, I generally just reboot 2-3 times until the controller sees the one drive that falls off the array.   If you don't have enough power for the video cards though, that could also cause your problems.

Compute mode does not apply to RDNA 1 or 2 cards due to the GPU design of RDNA being gaming focused and not compute focused.   As a result, Radeon VII and earlier MAY have a compute mode option in the Radeon Settings, but I believe that setting was removed back in November of 2019 or somewhere around then(I could be wrong).

I hope this helps...

Hi, Jameous! Did you check if your GPU is in Compute mode in AMD Radeon Software instead of Graphics mode? (settings > Graphics > Advanced > GPU workload > compute) I've got an RX 570 and I'm getting about 30 MH/s. I'm using the following commands in the start_miner.bat file for the Binance pool:

...
Hope this helps,

[edit]

By the way, my setup is pretty old :

Asus Rampage 3 Extreme (over 12 years old)

i7 965 OC to 3.6 MHz

6 GB of DDR3 RAM @1333 MHz

[edit 2]

Just did a little research on your MOBO and it is as old as mine, same cpu socket (LGA 1366) and chipset (X 58), so I'd guess your issues are in fact related to your GPU's settings

Yes, I've tried everything. First off, compute mode does not appear in MY ATI settings, IF it even fully launches! It gets stuck and have to shut down and reboot. I'm on 21.4.1, so it should be there, and I looked on a computer running a RX470, and it was there, so I know where it is. I can set it with some program I found from somewhere, AND I have my script in PM do it to when it launches, and that does nothing. (I've tried the mining driver, and a doz others and still nothing changes it)

I've OC and UV'd, and that helps a bit, but only from low 9s to sometimes high 9s.

I've also tried some BIOS mods that were custom made for my card and those just shut everything down after a few seconds, and no, not heat related as it never got above 55c.

I just checked your mobo and it has "PCI Express 3.0 x4 M.2", so, thanks for the try, but that does not answer my question about PCIe 2.0 mobo being my issue.

Maybe someone with an old moldy potato with PCIe 2.0 and a RX 580 can try to replicate, or has had this happen can chime in?

Thanks tho!

26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Phoneix miner effective hashrate is 30% lower than average/reported hashrate on: June 08, 2021, 11:37:47 AM
Hi guys.

I've been mining for around 3-4 months and In the last month I've noticed my hashrate almost cut in half (I'm running 2 rigs)

I'm running one in an AMD RX5600M which has a reported hashrate of 34 MH/s but recently I'm finding that for the most part of the day (since I monitor them almost in an hourly basis) it only does 20-25 MH/s as its effective hashrate.

It was not like this before.  Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

Hash rate is related to your computer, and generally nothing external.   Now, temperatures can be a problem, but also, video drivers.   On Windows, those pesky Windows Updates that keep showing up can revert your video drivers to a "bad" version.   Try re-installing the latest Radeon Software and see if that helps.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.6d: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: May 20, 2021, 05:49:53 AM
You are running Phoenix 5.5c while the latest version is 5.6d(real version, check the first post in this thread for confirmation).   Anything newer than Radeon Software 21.3.2 is NOT compatible with Phoenix 5.5c.

It's as simple as that, AMD made some significant changes to the drivers starting with 21.4.1.

Im currently using a 6900xt card which is new to me.  Before this card I was using BetterHash software.  Which was great.   I love betterhash.

But I cant seem to use the 6900xt with Phenox miner to mine ETh or ETC.  Betterhash has worked with me and we have changed a few settings within Betterhash and also with my Virtual Memory.  But nothing has worked. And they suggest to reach out to this form.

For the time being I'm using NiceHash NBMiner and it seems to be working fine.   But I want Betterhash

28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Problem On XFX RX580 8GB Windows on: May 08, 2021, 12:28:39 AM

Sounds similar to the mining intensity issue with RX 6000 cards on windows 10.  The Devs might have set the -mi value too high for  your card.  Try lowering the -mi value until you just start to lose Mh/s, for my RX 6800 it's about -mi 4.

What average hashrate do you end up with for your RX 6800?  Have you tried the April driver + 5.6b?

I am getting 62.5 MH/s or so with my pre-overclocked 6800 non-XT and boosting the power limit by the 10% max in Radeon Software, 2100MHz for the memory with fast timing.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Rig is acting weird on: May 06, 2021, 11:52:15 AM
I've been like three times now that my rig will reboot itself after four hours of mining, I've checked the temp and it never exceed 56°C and also I've changed my ram stick too, what other thing to look out for?

Power supply might be the problem, or the motherboard/CPU/RAM is having a problem.    Many people forget that RAM can go bad in a computer, but also, power supplies can degrade over time.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AsRock H110 first build, no BIOS, nothing. on: May 06, 2021, 11:49:31 AM
My rig won't boot.

The PSU starts spinning (so does gpu if connected), but soon stops.
No bios, no monitor signal

I'm running out of ideas. The entire build was done wearing rubber gloves. Nothing looks broken.

Tried a new kaby lake cpu
Tried 3 different PSU's
Trie new RAM
Tried disconnecting every GPU

Had it at the local repair dude, no bios, no signal.

Specs:

MOBO: AsRock H110 pro btc+
CPU: Intel i5-7400 kaby lake
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400MHz 8GB
PSU: Corsair Rm1000x

Let's go back to basics here.   Motherboard has the standard 24 pin main power, and then you will have a supplemental 8 pin power connector on the motherboard(normally near the rear connectors for your USB/ethernet ports and such along that top edge).   Then you have your CPU.   It is possible you damaged the pins, though that is uncommon.   Then you add RAM and the CPU cooler.

With nothing else in the machine, no video cards(just the onboard video in the CPU), does your machine POST?   I've seen a LOT of people forget to plug in that supplemental power connector to the motherboard and then freak out when the machine won't boot.

i got rx6800
no hashrate with ver 5.5C or 5.6a or 5.6b
what is the problem?

Check the post for 5.6b about the drivers that work with it.   Under Windows, 5.6b works with Radeon Software 21.4.1, 5.6a works with up to 21.3.2(meaning 21.4.1 breaks it).   Linux is another story for the drivers that are supported, but you NEED to install the proper driver version(s) that are compatible.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.5c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: April 30, 2021, 09:52:19 AM
In thinking about some of the problems people have encountered with the latest drivers plus the latest PhoenixMiner versions and only SOME people having an issue, for those that ran into a problem, do you have PCI Express 4.0 enabled for your video card(s)?   Obviously for the Radeon 6000 series which does support PCIe 4.0, that might explain why some are encountering issues, while others like myself do not(AMD X370 chipset doesn't have PCIe 4.0 support).   Anyway, it was just a thought.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.5c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: April 29, 2021, 05:52:34 AM
So after using 5.6a for a bit I started getting can not get fan speed then the miner paused and I must click pause to continue mining.

I just updated to 5.6b but does anyone have an idea what the cause would be?

If you are running Windows, then also run the latest drivers for your video card as well.   I've noticed a LOT of people who run old driver versions due to the older PhoenixMiner versions not working with the latest AMD drivers for example, but then they update PhoenixMiner which has been updated to work with the latest drivers but without updating the drivers as well.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.5c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: April 28, 2021, 05:20:03 AM
I'm having a problem with my rig using pheonixminer 5.5c along with driver 20.5.1 (used a later version but kernals didnt work with 580s so i moved back to 20.5.1).
My issue is that my gpu4 (6 gpus on rig) is giving me incorrect shares. rest of the cards are not. windows 10.
OC is done via the miner itself. i tried many OC settings changes to gpu4, still none working as needed. it gives me many incorrect shares.
On other miners i do not have this problem.

OC settings on rest of the cards are 1200 core, 2100 memory , 850 volt for both core and mem.
Any help is appriciate.

When using older versions of PhoenixMiner, it makes sense that you need to run within the supported platforms of the version you are running.   5.5c, 5.6a, and now 5.6b will work with newer driver versions that would not work with older versions of the miner.    Just do a proper backup, then update your drivers and then update the miner before you start the process again.   You may be pleasantly surprised when things work better.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.5c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: April 27, 2021, 10:02:14 AM
I have no issue with 21.4.1 or 5.6a.

You may be using a non-Radeon 6000 series video card.

If you see my MH/s you would know that it is 6800XT.

One issue that I may have been hitting is using the Windows Insider program(Dev channel).   If you are not having a problem, then that could be the cause of my issues with 5.6a.

However i will try 21.2.3 with 5.5c i hope i will not get kernel error. Still wish latest drivers for games.

5.6a beta was posted by OP a week ago, its also on his Github.

Minerstat is also pushing down the legit 5.6a.  No problem on a Radeon 6800 and the legit 5.6a with Radeon Software 21.3.2 and earlier.

Are you doing Fast Timing on Adrenalin or using the -mt flag?

I am using Radeon Software to configure, Fast Timing at 2100 on the memory, power limit to the maximum of +10 percent.   I am getting 62.5MH/s or so for speed.   21.4.1 is NOT working with 5.6a, but 21.3.2 works.

NiceHash did a ugly but nice trick screaming Phoenix Miner Virus! But you now what? We have solution for you! We created for you our own miner Grin

In Phoenix i have less heat and 2MH/s more but i whish they upgrade to work with latest AMD drivers.Dont want to install some ancient 20.8.2 driver to work, otherwise -clkernel issue.

You must have missed that 5.5c was compatible with AMD 21.1.1 through 21.2.3, and 5.6a is compatible with AMD drivers through 21.3.2(AMD drivers 21.4.1 isn't compatible).
