When I try to start the API server on 7876 n localhost with SSL enabled, it crashes - is this maybe a reason for the testnet problems?
Code:
Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /home/azure/workbench/nxt/keystore (Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden)
NRS can't find your key in the keystore. Try this:

Generate key, please choose your genkey the same as your keystore password. If not, you get keystore errors from NRS (bug/feature in NRS). Run this in console:
Code:
keytool -alias nxt -genkey -keyalg RSA -validity 365

Edit this at the end of nxt\conf\nxt.properties:
Code:
nxt.keyStorePath=/home/pi/.keystore	# change "pi" to the user you're logged to.
nxt.keyStorePassword=ThePasswordYouHaveChosen

Now start NRS and it should work Smiley

Question about forging: what happens to a forging NRS server, if you open NRS without logging in? Does it keep on forging, or does it reset?
It keeps forging.
Thanks!

A social credit system allows users to establish credit lines between each other for a certain asset.  Debt can be transfered down a chain of credit lines.
...
LETSystems are interest free local credit systems.  Each local credit network has a central bookkeeper who establishes new credit lines and keeps track of users' balances.  When a new member joins, they establish a credit line to the bookkeeper and the bookkeeper grants them a credit line.  The credit line the bookkeeper establishes with them is the amount of credit they have with the community.  This is the amount the new member is allowed to owe the other members of the network.
So there is a banker named bookkeeper. You create debt. It's interest free, but there is an asset bound to the dept. So what happens if you don't pay the debt? I suppose your asset is gone. Wasn't the idea of bitcoin to stop with giving debt to people who don't have money?
Quote
For example, Bob, Charlie and Alice are members of the local LETSystem.  Bob needs to go on a job interview, but he can't because he has to watch his children.  Bob is broke, but he needs a babysitter.  Bob knows Alice babysits and is part of his LETSystem.  Alice babysits for Bob and he pays her $10 credit.  Alice now has a +$10 community credit and Bob now has a -$10 community credit.  Charlie's car is broken and he doesn't have any money to repair it.  Bob repairs Charlie's car for $40.  Bob now has a community credit of +$30 and Charlie now owes the community $40.  Bob gets paid even though Charlie didn't have the money.
This only seems useful for those who have zero amount of money. If in your example Bob would have had 10 dollar, no special sustem with debt and trust would be needed. If Bob has children, but no 10 dollar, something else is wrong in his life where free credit is not the solution.

Sorry for being critical, but I'm not really convinced this system improves the situation of poor people.

I have setup a server to support the nextcoin network and have a question about the web.xml file. Should I add an asterix * to AllowedHosts?

If I understand NRS correctly, you shouln't add the asterix, since everyone would be able to forge on my server this way. But I'm not sure if other clients can establish a connection without the asterix. So, should I add an asterix to AllowedHost or not?

To whom care about Bter exchange:

Firstly, I don't think most of you know Bter point (BTR), which is issued by Bter itself, so please have a look at this link http://cn.bter.com/trade/btr_cny . The present price for Bter point is about 2 CENTS in RMB.

Secondly, let's do a simple case study. Say you want to withdraw 10K Nxt, the fee for withdraw is 0.5% + 1 Nxt, that is 51Nxt. At the same time, this withdraw will cost you Bter point of your account. If you don't have BTR, you can buy BTR from the above link, and you can also get BTR from RMB trading in the site. If you don't have RMB, you can sell you coins to get RMB and then buy BTR. How many BTR will cost your withdraw? It's the quantity 10*the coin's value in RMB, say 10K Nxt's value is 4000 RMB, then the withdraw will cost you 40000 BTR, that is about 80 RMB or about 200 Nxt. So total fee is about 250 Nxt, that is ~ 2.5%.

Do remember and check you have BTR. That's my friends told me. So please check it when you didn't get your withdraw.
The above story is not true for me. If I withdraw 1000NXT, it will cost me 0,5%+1NXT = 6NXT and I'll get 994NXT into my account. All BTR I have from trading, will plummet to 0, but who cares about BTR anyway. Don't even know what to do with them, but thanks to you know I know you can sell them Cheesy.

But the community is working on zerocoin functionality and mixing and all the crazy shit Shocked No worry.
Sounds good! Would love to read a bit more about the zerocoin and mixing plans. Do you happen to know if these plans are written down somewhere?

I don't get your solution?!
Sorry if I wasn't clear. I'll try to clearify: I was imagining having 20 wallets. If you only send funds from 2 wallets to ebay, they could only store the addresses of these two wallets in their system with personal information about you. Since they don't know the other 18 wallet addresses, your total amount of nextcoins remains hidden from them.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 14, 2014, 02:05:30 PM
Just read Sx/Stealth - Bitcoin. It's a pretty cool concept about sending coins without publishing your public key, just your address. Now although this is not something useful for Nextcoin, since publishing your public Nextcoin key increases the difficulty of breaking it from 64-bit to 256-bit, I did get another idea.

It's an idea to hide the total amount of funds in your account from the receiver. In the current Nextcoin system, your funds are concentrated in 1 account, or multiple account which most probably have links in between. Buying something at Ebay would make your account and thus the total amount of funds public to Ebay.

Lets call it a wallet mixer Cheesy. Is it possible to make a client which manages several wallets at the same time, and a user interface where all funds are summed up and it just appears to be one account? This way your account could be the sum of for example 20 wallets. If you buy something at ebay, you might just need funds at two wallets and the fund in other wallets will never be known to ebay.

Here's my Nxt client, still in development, you may find some bugs, but wanted to show off this version:
http://nxtra.org/nxt-client/

As you'll see it's a web client. It is my hope that this might one day replace the official NRS web client now seen at http://localhost:7874 but that is up to Jean-Luc and CFB to decide.

I will be making a 1 click installer for linux/windows/mac later on as well.
Really like this client. Would like this one to be included in the official package. With an installer it would be very profesional and Nextcoin would be so much easier to use than it is currently. Nice work!

Unfortunately, I've come to the conclusion that the brainwallet feature is not meant for average users.  I think we should keep it as an advanced option, but by default a client should implement a bitcoin-like wallet, for the safety of our users.
Hmm, what if we keep the brainwallet, but help the user choose a long password? So make the minimum length 30 characters and have some numbers and letters, plus short explanation why.

Now we have the opposite system: choose less than 10 characters and lose your coins in a minute. A bit of a harsh way of learning if you ask me.

Here is version 1.7 of my Windows NXT client "NXT Solaris".

The (future) open-source version now has the everything implemented that the closed-source version has (except for the blockchain explorer which won't be available in the open-source version).
That GUI look really good! Only thing I don't like is that there is a closed-source version which has more options. Is there a way to make just one version and make it open source?

Upgraded to 0.7.2 as well and no real problems so far.

What I did notice while upgrading from 5.9->5.10->5.11->5.12->6.1->7.12 is that if I delete all blacklisted peers, I never get on a fork. If I leave peers blacklisted, there is quite a change of getting on a fork, even twice in a row.

What is a good source to know the latest block number? I always use Nxt block explorer (http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=100), but it's always a few blocks ahead of my own hallmarked NRS.

Currently with a few outside developers on payment modules for the main open source ecommerce and CMS systems.
First draft has been sent to wesleyh for review, as I want someone from inside to look it over before we go any further.
Hopefully he has will give some insights if he has time.

Still in initial stages.

CMS/commerce list:
prestashop
oscommerce
magento
Drupal
Wordpress
Joomla
Oooh, that sounds good! Smiley Would love to see Nextcoin payment plugins be released. This could start real use of the coin as currency.
