21  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 19, 2014, 12:20:37 PM
Yer that beeping is really really annoying. Is everyone else having the issue?

Im also having this issue.  Beeping set to False but its still randomly does one beep every now and then.  Using a Lan connection, not wifi, incase anyone is wondering.

It appears to be hashing away perfectly fine.  So I cant work out why it does this random beep.

The manual suggests it beeps when it encounters an error.. but doesnt say what that error is.

I know its not the same beeps as the beeps you get when not connected to a network.

Bumping this topic. I've found no fix for the beeping yet. My wife is on the warpath over it. Without the occasional beeps, the S3 would be significantly quieter than the S1 and much quieter than the S2.

Has anyone found the physical speaker/beeper yet in case metal surgery is needed? I haven't opened the cases at all - just put them to work out of the box (nice gear, Bitmain).

As a side note, the beeping feature must have driven them crazy in their ant farm - looking around the room full of racks - which one just beeped?

Why don't you turn the S3 off, take the lid off and see if you have loads of paste everywhere.  If you do, clean it all off (being careful) and see if that helps?

I had one of the 20 pieces damaged:

If I were you I would login to your Bitmain accounts and send a post-sales message with your images, and ask if they will send you some replacement fans.  Otherwise, buy a replacement fan and ask them to refund you the cost of the replacement.  It's quite easy to replace the fan.  Perhaps, before you send a message to bitmain, take cover off and take off the replacement fan (you need cover off to un-plug the fan from the mainboard), and see if the S3 powers up and runs albeit without the broken fan.  If it does work (hope it does) then you know its just a replacement fan that's required otherwise its a complete S3 replacement.

My order, which was placed 6/30 in the 21:00 hour, now shows up on the UPS reference page.. Should be here in NY on tues.

My batch 2 order after a search by reference on UPS site that the label has been created, bitmain site's order info hasn't been updated yet.
2014-07-01 20:45:32 - order created
2014-07-01 20:52:16 - order paid

So they're starting to ship batch 2 orders. Great!

How did you manage to locate your order being registered with UPS?

All those B1 S3's that have been running for a while, have you managed to get the 'BestShare' to show anything other than '0' in the management interface in the 'Miner Status' tab?  Or does this require an upgrade of the firmware?

I'm in the B2 still waiting to hear that the units have been shipped  Sad

My best share is showing at 33,882,855

If it is still at 0 then it's not sending anything to the pool

Thanks for the feedback, I haven't received my S3's yet as I'm in B2.  But was just wondering if the BestShare was working as I've seen a few people on here saying it was showing '0', maybe they hadn't had the S3 running very long?

If we're just connecting 2 PCI-e cables to an S3 does it matter which PCI-e socket each goes in, i.e. front or back?  I know that we need to plug a PCI-e cable in each side both left and right.

Correct.

Front or back?

Ok so i`ve done that added my set up but its still not mining Sad

You also need to add the details of the pool you are mining with and make sure the miner is on the same LAN that your router is connected to which has a WAN connection.
29  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 18, 2014, 10:20:02 AM
I have managed to get into one miner and added my config, but its not actually mining.  also anyone know what the ip is for the 2nd ant?

They all come pre-configured to 192.168.1.99.  So, you need to change the IP address for each, well at least the first one.  Once you have the first S3 set to a different IP address to anything else on your LAN i.e. 192.168.1.201, you will be able to access the second S3 on the original IP address on 192.168.1.99 and then change that to a different unique IP address.

argh so I got my S3's today, went in to fix all the settings, set up static lan on my normal subnet, disabled wan on bootup, rebooted without testing like an idiot, and now I can't connect to them. The lan interface doesn't seem to be working. I'm pretty sure the cabling/switch is fine, as other stuff is running through them. Anyone know what I can do?

Why didn't you do one at a time, then if you had made a mistake you would at least have the S3 that hadn't been changed?

When anyone receiving their S3 from B1 and who is in the UK let us know what import duty they had to pay please?

OMG a 5 second block.
Who thinks this will end up invalid?

It has been marked invalid!  Went to bed last night expecting a payout today once all found blocks had been validated, and was wondering why my reward had been dropped back for a short while.  Damn!
33  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PSU that will run two overclocked S3's on: July 13, 2014, 09:58:30 PM

Thanks to all of you who replied to this thread.  I've now ordered an EVGA 1300 from dabs.com for £149 incl. VAT (yes unfortunately I'm in the UK and have to pay 20% tax).  That should be enough power to run the two S3's I have on order in batch#2 and be able to fully over-clock them.  Just hope, as everyone else is that they start shipping very soon.

Anyone one else a little concerned that Bitmaintech hasn't giving us an update on shipping or updated their support page with S3 info and firmware?

No, they'll start shipping very soon, I am sure.  They are not like BFL et al.  Hold your nerve units will soon be on there way.  It's now the 14th July in Beijing, so keep an eye on your orders all you who placed an order in batch#1, and let the rest of us know when units start shipping.

Well I have a batch 1 order, placed the same day that they went on sale. I'll let you guys know as soon as I see that my order has shipped.

I hope they get the firmware out in time.
we'll wait for your good news sir

maybe.. its between 10-20th that they'll ship it, thats what they promised
but, lets hope that they ship batch 1 in 14th and me at batch 2 will waiting patiently with no "afraidness"  Cheesy

I'm in batch#2 as well so 'am very interested in hearing when orders start shipping as well.

Or use ethernet through your ring-main.  Look at Solwise AV500 etc...

37  Bitcoin / Hardware / PSU that will run two overclocked S3's on: July 07, 2014, 07:54:25 PM
Can someone recommend a Corsair PSU that will easily run two overclocked S3's at 554GH/s.  I was thinking of an AX1200i but would like to know if this will be suitable for running two overclocked S3's at the maximum of 554GH/s.
38  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 07, 2014, 12:02:34 PM
I'm planning on running my initial 2 S3's on a Corsair PSU.  If I get a AX1200i will I be able to over-clock them to the max of 554GH/s on a single AX1200i?

How long is delivery for Europe ? Less than 7 days ?

Both my previous orders for S1's took 2-3 days.  Once the order is shipped you will be able to track it with the UPS tracking number. I would expect the batch#1 to start shipping this Thursday  Grin
40  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 06, 2014, 09:25:10 PM
I'm sure they will start shipping batch #1 on Thursday and batches #2 and #3 shortly thereafter.  I trust Bitmain unlike Butterfly Labs etc...
