22  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Set up on a USB? on: July 15, 2011, 01:14:15 PM
This rocks!

Few more questions.

1. Instructions or links to instructions on setting this up.(Do I just put in onto a USB and have the PC boot from USB?)
2. Does the amount of memory on the USB effect the speed of the OS.
3. If you plugged a bunch of these into a computer lab at a College or something and had them all Mining. Would this be a red flag for System Admins or anyone that might be watching the system?

Turns out the problem wasn't with the site.

I have 3 recieving addresses.

Not sure why never created new ones.
24  Bitcoin / Mining / Mining Set up on a USB? on: July 14, 2011, 07:52:40 PM
I've never mined before and I'm looking to set up a Live Linux OS on a USB drive.

I want to have BitCoin Mining Software installed on the OS and to be able to plug it into any computer and have an instant mining set up.

Does such a thing exist?

Is it possible?

I'm taking a look the following post

http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=9304.0

Can you explain the following variables

Code:
$rpcUser = "username";
$rpcPass = "password";
$url = "http://localhost:8332";

Do you set this up to access an online BitCoin Client? Existing at what ever url you choose?
26  Economy / Goods / Selling Ad Space @ DaRoom.info on: July 14, 2011, 07:09:02 PM
Looking to sell some Ad Space on DaRoom.info

The site is a random image gallery.

Looking to sell AdSpace that randomly appears 20% of page views.

Site gets between 200-300 unique visitors a day.

Here is a snapshot of Analytics. Hard to see since one day had 6000 visitors which throws off the scale.

Looking to sell at 0.5BC per week. To a respectable website that users might enjoy.

28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Where to Start? PHP + BitCoin on: July 14, 2011, 06:30:11 PM
I'm a PHP developer(1 year experience) looking to learn how to work with BitCoin.

I don't have that much experience with APIs.

Any suggestions appreciated.

One guy got 300k bitcoins at $.01, so in reality 200k bitcoins was enough to utterly wipe out all buy orders.

WOW!

That really sucks for MtGox.

Not to mention everyone else.

I guess they had saved enough profit to start up again.
30  Other / Beginners & Help / Block Explorer on: July 14, 2011, 01:28:50 PM
Hi everyone,

I'm checking out the Block Explorer website.

From what I understand its suppost to show a record of all transactions when you put in your address.

I have 2 transactions so far but none show at

We know for a fact that 8% of existing coins were enough to drive the price from $17.5 to $01.

Can you talk about this?

What happened that you are referring to?

Keep in mind I'm new to this.
32  Economy / Speculation / Re: I bought serveral bitcoin around 14, and had more USD hold on: July 14, 2011, 12:55:41 PM
I just bought my first 10.9BC @ 13.66CAD

I'm actually just trying to get a group of friends to buy small amounts directly from me at the moment.

But I hope to keep investing a little bit from my pay check every 2 weeks.

Hi Qikaifu,

I just got into BitCoin a few days ago.

I'm interested in buying some BitCoins to redistribute among a group of friends at a slightly higher rate.

Do you think we are about to see a rally?

Hey,

Any Canadians in here?

How do you buy BitCoin.

I have been looking around since Yesterday and MtGox and Trade Hill look like good sites but it seems hard/expensive to transfer from Canada.
38  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Long for BitCoin to Download Blocks First log on on: July 12, 2011, 10:37:14 PM
Thanks! only about 15,000 more to go.

So once I have all the blocks I have a chance of solving an equation to get 50BC?

1-2 hours lol?

At the current rate the 15,000 blocks will take more like 15-30 hours.
39  Other / Beginners & Help / How Long for BitCoin to Download Blocks First log on on: July 12, 2011, 09:22:37 PM
Hey everyone,

I've been trying to get the BitCoin client to work for a few hours now.

It's been downloading all the blocks but seems to be sparatic.

It will not download any for a long time and then add 500 all at once.

I'm at 3200 now.

How long did it take everyone else to get them all downloaded?
