21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN/DISCUSSION] Silk Network: Silk, DarkSilk and Weaver on: July 28, 2016, 01:52:20 AM
So what can we expect for sunday?

- SLK release
- Official website
- Weaver?
- Start of ICO Darksilk?
- Blockchain for SLK?
- More info (whitepaper)?
- Other?

I am aiming for Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday in terms of actual release. But yes, all of the above.

Is there anything we can do to help?

Anyone else find DRKSLK a bit expensive?

Considering the USD 0.25 starting point and the 4M supply that gives a USD 1M market capitalisation on day 1.
Right now Silkcoin is valued at USD 400k without any of the nice features DarkSilk has. We estimate DarkSilk's worth to be well over 2.5 times that of the current Silkcoin, at it's peak Silkcoin even had a market cap of USD 1.5M.

When looking from a user's perspective, a currency should not have a too low worth or it would be cumbersome in daily use. There is still a lot of room for price growth with DarkSilk.

Fair points.

The market will set the price of drkslk based on demand. All the team is doing is setting a lower limit ($.25) and upper limit ($2.50). Personally, I prefer this method because how many coins are set too high during ico, the devs get the money, bounce, then everybody dumps. The worst thing a company (or coin) can do is be overvalued upon launch because then you have nowhere to go but down. The plan is to give a fair value for the coin based on demand, not a predetermined price.

Awesome! I can't wait to invest and support the project. I see great potential with a solid team and inspirational vision. SilkNet FTW

Maybe a dev could contact Coinmarketcap about the market listed here: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/silkcoin/#markets

The other Silkcoin is there, which it shouldn't be.

I filed a request to change it through their form. Luckily this problem will resolve itself anyway.

EDIT: It has been removed Smiley

Nice! Total silence here suddenly, same on Polo. Silence before the storm?  Tongue

Not a peep...

You see arteleis name in the Ann? Whos idea was darksilk, silk and the Silk Weaver? Who paid for it and suddenly vanished from the extreme dedication he showed all of you..  think about it.

We've given arteleis credit where its due. We've said many times that Art is the reason we're here. Its not our fault he disappeared. He could have an important role but he left. We all wish he'd come back, he was great for the community
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN/DISCUSSION] Silk Network: Silk, DarkSilk and Weaver on: July 18, 2016, 11:18:29 PM
Extremely poor form.

Yeh poor form indeed.   Sorry guess it only appeared that there would be a release today.. me and others must have been mistaken.   So 50 btc or so worth of investors got kicked in the face.  Thats fantastic.

And nobody has stilled explained the great announcement of the day you guys were counting down the hours to? I saw the pretty picture but I didn't notice it saying anything new or definitely not worthy of a countdown...

We can agree that, in your understanding, that Silkcoin used to be a simple chain brushed aside to be replaced by DarkSilk right?
Can you answer me what Silk is to you when talking about the Silk Network?

I'll run you through to see if you get the picture.

Could you just answer the question.. what happened at the end of the countdown? This wasn't just your post the devs said release mid this month.. so what was the countdown for?

There was no talk of release for mid month July.  They talked about a possible July release.  Nothing was ever confirmed.

Oh sorry for misunderstanding the talk of a July release and a pending countdown subsequently to nothing... As the release they were talking about.  Investors beware of this coin. As previously noted they have a hard time keeping a block explorer up and is now the third botched release (announced and then never happened) that I've read that everyone here fuds and says doesn't not exist... We never said that.. get out of here you troll..

If this is the way this is run I have great concerns (as previous) about entrusting the entire silkcoin chain to their 3rd party exchange (the Weaver) remembering folks.. that if you want to keep your silk, you'll need to withdraw all of it from poloniex and your wallets and give it all to this team... Think about it for a sec.

I cannot wait for you to eat your words, hahahahahahaha

You are everything that is wrong with the cryptosphere my friend (I say friend lightly). We never announced a release of software, it was an announcement about Silk which was stated from the start by Orestes.

Also, yes, you will have to withdraw all your coins from the exchanges (that are soooooo trustworthy) and swap them on the Weaver which is developed and maintained by a public dev team.

If your keeping all your coins on Poloniex, well, your worries about security are obviously not paramount.

Oh and to confirm to everyone, yes, Silk will launch as stated, end of July.

I hope you've got some nice spices to put on those words, you might be able to get some from the caravan that is marching onwards, if your lucky.

Just to be clear, the only time you will be forced to use the Weaver is when we swap SILK for SLK. Once you have your slk you can move it all back to polo and trust them or do whatever you want

A picture paints a thousand words

There cannot be Darksilk(Camel shadows) without Silk(real Camels)

Perfect!

Orestes, in your post you say, “As more transactions come through Weaver the more stable the coin will become, and the more pressure would be put on Silk.”

Can you elaborate on this, please? Are you talking about price stability? And what do you mean by “more pressure on silk”?

You also talk about “favoring large orders” on the weaver. Does this mean that if i want to buy say 100btc worth of drkslk i can buy it in on the weaver and get more than i would from a regular exchange? Because, obviously, when you buy that much you drive the price up ..
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN/DISCUSSION] Silk Network: Silk, DarkSilk and Weaver on: July 17, 2016, 10:03:40 PM
There was a countdown... What was that countdown to?  Yet another botched release?

I was expecting a release today, all I saw was a pump and dump.

Orestes didn't mentioned anything about a release, he told us there would be an announcement detailing the future use of Silk.

We all didn't know where silk stood in relation to darksilk. We now know that silk will be very important to the success of darkslk! This is great news for silk investors because we can rest assured that silk is not being overtaken or shadowed by drkslk. They both are important! There will be a symbiotic relationship between the two - they depend on each other to succeed! Darksilk by itself will/could be a great coin but chances are it will end up like every other altcoin with an initial pump and then slowly die, unless we gain user adoption. To gain user adoption we need people to use it. To use it we need the value to be stable. I don't want to sell goods or services for drkslk (or any coin) that changes dramatically in price. To gain real use we need a stable currency.

It's brilliant what silk network is/has developed. A binary coin system that offers a stable currency(drkslk) with amazing features and an asset(slk) that we can invest in!

Okay, that took me quite some time take in. Basically, were talking about a system that takes energy from one coin and moves it to another, and the same way around. This will result in a (medium to long-term) constant price in darksilk and fluctuating price in silk. Basically you're securitizing the currency with an asset, backed/managed by the Silk Network. Is this correct?

Yes, this is what i understand as well. It will be interesting to see the math behind it. Can't wait for the whitepaper!
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN/DISCUSSION] Silk Network: Silk, DarkSilk and Weaver on: July 17, 2016, 03:37:21 PM

I seriously dont understand anything I read there. Way too complicated for me to understand the concept of why silk would go toe to toe with DRKSLK.

But that might just be me.

So what you’re saying is Silk is the asset that backs darksilk (the currency). A two coin system

I try to find something that relates to me, and since i am a plumber we have something called Thermal Expansion. In the plumbing world, Thermal expansion happens when water is heated, it expands and needs somewhere to go. It takes up more room in the pipe and needs a place to go or it creates un-needed stress/pressure on all pipes and appliance. Its like having high blood pressure. So we install a thermal expansion tank to absorb the times when the water expands.

Correct me if i’m wrong, but it appears that Silk is the “expansion tank” that will keep the price of darksilk in equilibrium. The goal is to create a stable currency, and to do this we’ve implemented a binary coin system to move the flow away (price fluctuations) from darksilk.
water gets heated takes more room more pressure on the tank
market cap rises (more darksilk) more pressure on silk(higher price)

water cools down, market cap decreases
volume water drops volume supply darksilk drops
air in tank increases, silk collateral increases

Your timing in the previous thread, the closing of it. Your temperament...
You aren't Hanz are you? If so, you should know all is going according to plan.

Okay you guys..  the gig is up.  I am Hanz.  Hahaha. Oooo man..  give me some drugs whatever the hell you guys are taking.   I'll invest 1000 btc if something actually launches.   Then right when you don't expect it I'm going to end all of your dreams.

Go back to your dead thread pretty pictures and the camel marchess on! You all deserve it.

Yes, we know you're Hanz. C'mon Art we've been friends for too long. I can tell its you, your anarchy ways, your fuck the corporation, your awkward. uses of.. periods. You've dropped little hints throughout your emotional rant. You want us to know its you. I was going to post reference links but it's late and i'm already losing enough sleep because of this. Anybody can go back to previous post by arteleis and tell its the same person. The writing style is the same, the indented paragraphs, periods, tone, etc. Why don't you put your puppet account away and talk like a man. You'd have more respect that way.

And yet you're the reason we're all here. You kept silkcoin alive. Things have grown and evolved since you left. You don't have all the information and you're freaking out because you think your silkcoin is getting hi-jacked. Its not man. The vision, principle and ethics are still here. Yes, things have evolved. It's becoming Physarum polycephalum! You remember the intelligent slime right?

So Trak, if Arteleis is the one who pissed in your Cheerios, wouldn't he be the one you'd want to go after???  That being said, that is setting all other things aside in this forum...

Sounds like he was the main one that influenced you from what you posted and you made a choice base on conversations with him.

Did you talk to anyone else in the development team?  Or did you just dive right in...  Maybe you should have chatted with the whole team?

Sounds to me like Aterleis told you things that weren't totally on the marker?

Nope arteleis was the developer who appears to have been railroaded by this team.  And yes he is the reason I am here. And why I get more and more pissed off Everytime I read more lies.  But your right.  Arteleis maybe was a liar too.  Which makes things worse.

Spencer did arteleis not pay you a shitload of money to develop Silkcoin? Why are you here and why is he not? Doesn't make sense like I said to shut down the thread because of me.. he seemed a troll killer and I admired him.. this is far beyond money now though.  Entirely principle and good old eye for an eye Christian values.

Your quote of mine shows that I said we have access to SilkCoinTemple, maybe not directly but through PalmD, Bishop or Arteleis.

Arteleis donated a living amount of btc per week for 6 months from April last year to me weekly/biweekly. I am here because I believed that the community deserved an honest developer and team that I could bring to the table. He has vanished after his last post on the old thread and no-one I know has heard from him since, also no-one has the faintest idea why he has disappeared.

Also, for the record, Arteleis is not a developer.

It may appear I am sometimes talking in circles, reiterating the same thing in a different way, but this is simply because we don't want to let every idea out and give up the game.

Arteleis was not a developer? Fuck man.. go back to the thread when silk died and he saved it.. get your head out of your ass.. not only did he save this coin.. he paid you a shitload of money to develop it..  which you now say is dead and you never received a dime..  you gave no idea who I am and how many conversations I've had with him! Stop lying bro!

I am not lying. He isn't a developer, otherwise he would of done it himself, surely? He has paid me a few thousand dollars for 6 months and now after about 9/10 months since I last got payment I am still working on it. I also didn't say I never received a dime or said it was dead. You are right I have no idea who you are as you won't talk to me directly or act publicly. I have multiple witnesses who were around when me and Arteleis spoke and are fully aware of the agreement I had with him, which was to resurrect Silkcoin with a new coin and swap out. But I wanted to take it further with a platform as well. Then it was decided to keep Silkcoin and launch Silk and have a second coin DarkSilk as well. I haven't lied once throughout my time developing, I may of giving some timeframes that were off, but that is all.

A few thousand dollars eh? Only ten times off what he told me bro.. stop lying... I really hope he responds to my messaged eventually..  as currently you're calling the developer of silkcoin a liar.  As you've stated clearly.  You are not the developer of silkcoin and it it is entirely up for grabs. Res nullius

I wish I had been paid that amount, I also hope he replies, However there is an active user in the thread that will reply when reading this as he was about when Arteleis made the deal with me, when he was paying me and was actively talking to Arteleis throughout that time. So I will be interested to see what both have to say about your claims. For the record I have had Arteleis donate me around $200 per week for a 6 month period which equates to around $4800. There may of been a few times he sent me BTC as I had no money after paying rent so I could eat, but trust me, I am not lying.

This is what I know: When the community took over the original silkcoin, Arteleis was the first person to step up and take control. He, like many of us, had made large investments in silkcoin and wanted to keep it alive. I remember buying my first silkcoin at 7200sats and I kept filling my bag all the way down. The devs walked out and the community took over. I know from personal conversations with Arteleis that he spent $30-$50K hiring devs and other people to try to keep things alive. He told me he almost lost his house and family because he was spending so much money on the project because he kept getting fucked over by "devs" who would take his money and give empty promises.

Then he found Spencer, an honest and reliable developer. Art paid Spencer a living wage for as long as he could but funds ran out. I've always told Art that if he needed help I would be happy to donate funds to keep things moving forward. His funds ran out and then I started paying Spencer what I could to keep the project moving. I gave Spencer funds so he could eat and pay the other devs what he felt was fair for the work they did. Still to this day I pay the monthly server fees and donate to development when I can. I've loaned other team members money so they could live and focus on the project at hand. We all work together to make this happen. I can't code so I donate other resources. Others do the same.

The Silk Network is going to be something that the crypto community has never seen. The momentum behind this project is strong and grows stronger everyday. The ideas are real. The people behind this are real. The vision will happen and those that are patient will reap the rewards. Time=Money. If we had more money then development would happen faster. But we work with what we've got. And we will survive. We always have and always will.

Thanks for hypes, devs and supporters.  I jumped in when it was 300 and made 4x my money.  Good thing I got out in time before people realized that launch wasn't happening.  I don't know how close we are to actual launch as dev keeps us in dark but I reckon maybe at least another half year.    I will take time buy back when prices drops to 450, 500ish range.  I did enjoy big fluctuation  in the market time to time and makes us traders heart flutter.   Well good job guys and keep up the good work.

Camel Marches On.  Grin

I can assure you the launch will happen and it has a very good chance of being the most exciting launch of 2016. And yes, price fluctuation is fun for us traders - just don't get left behind

Just so you guys are all aware, I have been hit hard with Influenza for the past week, which has put me out of action a bit, but, the rest of the team have been working hard still. The worst of it is over but my GP said that I have one of the most "real cases" of flu he has seen in a while and wouldn't be suprised to be ill for another couple of weeks. I am still working, but the actual hard stuff I have had to pass over to Amir currently as I simply cannot concentrate for more than a matter of minutes before losing coherency. Bottom line, work continues.

Hope you feel better soon! Drink some tea Smiley
