21  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Cold storage/Offline storage on: July 03, 2017, 02:29:52 PM
Hello,
For about 3 years now I had electrum wallet on my laptop. I always kept my bitcoins there. Now there will be this August 1st thing with Bitcoin and Segwit and all that.
There are many articles recommending to keep Bitcoins in cold storage or offline wallet.

Now since I have Electrum program do I have to do anything about my bitcoin? If so please let me know what I need to do to protect my Bitcoins

Thank You

Simply don't create any transactions and you should be okay. If the chain splits you will end up having the same coins on the both chains (keep in mind that stronger chain might pull the weaker chain, which will result in some transactions to be invalid that should be valid). Thats why it is advised to not keep your coins on an online wallet/ exchanges and simply to wait.

Cold storage they advise prob because you are sure that you have your private keys with you, same here with electrum you have control over your coins. So simply don't create any outgoing transactions and you should be fine, after some time situation will get sorted out and we will all know that we will be able to use bitcoin again. This will simply upgrade it so that we will be able to send transactions with lower fees and faster confirmation times.

Ok great thank you for your answer. I was kinda hoping for this solution. I will just keep the wallet closed for awhile Smiley

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My crypto Portfolio - when will I be rich? on: June 30, 2017, 07:47:04 AM
I think this question is very pointless.

If you have such amount invested in something you wouldn't be asking this question unless you just want to show off.

Also if you have such amount invested than you should know why you have invested in it and what return to expect. Of course it could be hard to predict the future price of each coin but everyone knows the numbers will just go up. Check the charts it will give you better understanding

Thank You everyone for all your suggestions, thoughts and ideas. I of course know it is gambling and this is not easy to accomplish on daily bases. I just wanted to see what steps people would take.

I want to leave a message for the ones which are saying such things as why gamble, go to work, invest etc....

Well, first thing is I do work and I do work very hard, but the idea is to stay at home and be with my family all day long and not waste 40 hours a week away from my house. If thats what you enjoy and what you call life then you do that but dont tell other people to do that thinking it is a good advice.

Second thing, I personally believe gambling is much safer and healthier investment than actually "investments". Ill give you 1 example.

  • I have analysed one of the best teams in the league to win the next game so i will bet money on it.
  • 2 options - I win or there is a red card and or penalty, bad luck, bad day and I loose

  • I have analysed one of the best companies to have a nice future so I put money in it
  • 2 options - I was right and get money or there will be economical situation just like in 2008 and I loose my money

So for me it is all the same...
One thing I could say and that is why I love Bitcoin. Bitcoin is 99% going to succeed, but 1% you never know Wink

Hello,
I have other bets going but  I will throw this one here

Bet #7

I really like this tip as I also have put a bet on the Chicago Blackhawks to win. They beat the New York Rangers the other night in New York and now face another New York team in New York which are playing okay but not as good as the Blackhawks at the moment so I think they can get the win and make it 2-0 against the New York teams.

Thank you, i do have a bet -1.5 as well so lets hope Smiley
