21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you successfully influenced someone to invest in bitcoin ? on: May 15, 2024, 07:17:45 PM
Have you successfully influenced someone to invest in bitcoin ?  What was the final result, did they thank you later for this ?

I used to back then but I changed. If you don't know me and closed to me, you will think I don't used internet because I hardly talk about it reason because people expectations are so high that when they hear food side of Bitcoin, they want to experience it to and they later make you feel like you are the one controlling the market, always making you feel you are the person that is stopping the Bitcoin market from making a run for there money.

Another benefit of staying low about the whole thing is for security reasons and now that the government has officially start to fight against cryptocurrency trading and involvement in any digital investment, bringing new person here is risking their life's and investment because they can be block from using banks and I don't want to be involved with any problem for trying to help.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I returned my father's property to my father through Bitcoin investment. on: May 15, 2024, 07:04:30 PM
A friend of mine was involved in bitcoin and he knew enough about my family to tell me friend if you invest in bitcoin you can help your father. Sister's wedding cost father about 2000 thousand dollars and I invested the remaining two thousand dollars with my father's permission in September 2023. But really my luck is very good I bought bitcoin when it was 30K. Then when the bitcoin market reaches 70K I sell the bitcoins. But today I am so happy that I can give back the two ponds from which we earn our living to my father only for bitcoins.  Bitcoin really changes people's fortunes it happened with my life.

Definitely for Bitcoin newbies investing in Bitcoin at the right time can definitely change your fortune overnight.

I'm kinda of having some of benefits of doubt with this your thread, you know why? I will explain.

You decide to discuss this now despite the fact that you are active here and the last time Bitcoin was traded around $70k range was 5 weeks ago and quoting your state, you sold your Bitcoin at that price but didn't discuss this all this while but you decided to share that today. I'm not sure why but do you care to tell us why or your sister was married off today and you were over joyous.  Wink

Well, that said. Bitcoin helps you preserve value and it helps you appreciate your value and you have just tasted how valuable Bitcoin is, I hope you refer people more the same way your friend introduce you to Bitcoin, don't you think we will have more marriages for people who don't have means to marry! 23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump's stance on Bitcoin is changing, the Trump pump is beginning on: May 14, 2024, 04:57:07 PM
Nothing new to see here. Trump was a Bitcoin enthusiast in 2016, then he became president and changed his stance to be against Bitcoin (in order to justify a maximalist defensive position of dollar currency). Now that he is looking for the presidency spot once again he adopts the previous stance of endorsing Bitcoin more or less?

Like you know the drill. When Joe Biden was package for the US and the rest of the world, they said the same thing only to triple their hunt on cryptocurrency, they have literally shutdown any mixers from US and ethereum mixers is a living testimony for their tenure.
When Trump was campaigning in 2015, man was so humble and cool not until he assumed office and start talking to anyone mannerlessly with rude, that's when they came against him and now they want to repackage him again, indeed human being are seek and are always moved easily by political choices.

Quote
Sorry, but if you get fascinated and excited for this kind of news you must be really naive. Trump wants the public to see him as the freedom anti-system warrior, and Bitcoin fits the role he is trying to interpret (for now). It's all about marketing, propaganda and manipulation.

Empty words are a big thing in this modern world, as it seems there aren't negative consequences for those who pronounce them... It's quite the opposite: liars and manipulators get more and more fans each new day.

These are empty words for the ticket, trust them at nothing. If I'm from US, my vote will never go to that two political system that has destroyed US more than they couldn't, one is lying that he is going to reduce tax while one is trying to kill investors with taxes. A new candidate is not bad but I don't know why US seems to be interested from Republicans and Democrat.

Yes Barcelona behavior at financial level is pure trahs, they are like the goverments, they keep sepnding and acumulating more and more debt without any plan to pay that debt, only wants to win something and have one magic transfer who saves them, and that is gonna end wrong clearly.

I can see some arabian guy putting money or owning Barcelona in a near future.

When I saw some rumors been paraded about Lewandowski leaving Barcelona for another club, I was kind of happier for them, atleast a salary slash for new replacement but it seems the club is not letting go anytime soon especially how his agent came to debunk the news as "nonsense" but it's understandable, they don't have any potential replace that will help them as no.9 for now and perhaps the available good ones are costly for now considering the position of the club.

The way Real Madrid is hungry for new players, they seems not even interested on any loan anymore and with this, I fear how Barcelona are going to actually survive El clasico in the next 3 years, Mbape is coming and few more are on their ways, the battle is going to be legendary.

Kloop has dedicated himself to building the Liverpool club, he has even lasted a long time at Liverpool, he has experienced ups and downs with Liverpool, Kloop has even achieved extraordinary results several times and has won the EPL title, even though in the last season Kloop did not win an EPL trophy or gave the UEL trophy but the name of this coach will always be a source of pride for Liverpool who have fought together for years. Liverpool will appreciate Kloop's struggle so far and give a memorable farewell impression.

He has done an incredible job in Liverpool but I think he is just a mid coach like other managers that has work in many clubs, from 2019 he has won atleast important trophy but he has never won any trophy for Liverpool twice, Champions league once, Premier League once, FA cup once and many few in total of 5 got 6 years, this year could have been different but it seems the FA was the only one he was destined to win and it cool than having nothing at all.

Quote
According to Kloop's admission, he left Liverpool this season because he wanted to rest for some time and it was possible that he would not betray Liverpool to train another club. It is very natural that he is tired at this time because he has also built the Liverpool club for quite a long time and Liverpool is a big EPL club.

A type of person like him need rest and plus he is not getting it easy in Liverpool, even the players he used this season, it was through strategy upon strategies. Ever since Mane left, their forward became too weak and he knew very well that Salah and some other guys will leave later, it's better that he left with little dignity and hardwork he has done than remain there without any achievement for Liverpool.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do I trace a transaction history of a person in the blockchain? on: May 14, 2024, 01:41:23 PM
I created this thread to learn something important. I know most of you may be conversant with it, but I am not well knowledgeable to that extent. Someone mistakenly sent USDT to a wrong address thinking it was the right address and now he has lost it. My question is how can we/I be able to trace the transaction through blockchain technology with the transaction ID?(Harsh)

The person that sent the USDT, kindly asked him which wallet address did he sent the usdt to, from there you can search the wallet address on the explorer and from there, you can check the transaction history and last transaction that was done in that wallet address, if the person really send it to that address you should find the transaction hash there and the amount of USDT else he might lying to you.

Most likely, it should be in Tron network since the fee for sending it is lower than other chain. Ask him for the wallet address and if it start from T......dhhf, you can simply scan it on the explorer or better still request for the transaction harsh.

If the address start with 0x.....37dh, check blockchair explorer, it will show you other EVM that supports the address and you can open them each tab for all from Ethereum, bsc, Matic, fantom, Arbirtrum, optimizm, and many more. But better if you ask for the transaction harsh.

27  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When did you realize you need to be a responsible gambler so you can continue ? on: May 13, 2024, 04:50:34 PM
We all know that we cannot play for a long time without being responsible players; we could go crazy, or we could lose all our money; at some point, you have to realize that you need to play responsibly, so I created this poll and this discussion to pick your reasons and explain it.

I don't think there is anything to fear if you know your spending limit. If you know that a dollar is what you can use to gamble, don't go out of that limit and bet with $2, if you know $100 is what you can spend in gambling without feeling any remorse of any loss, then don't go and bet with your savings thinking you can double that because if you do, there is going to be a consequence, it's either you regret betting in the first place or become irresponsible gambler with addiction.

Quote
In my case, I have to lose a lot of money to realize I have to gamble responsibly if I don't want to break my finances and experience depression, so now I control myself and monitor my expenses, and I'm doing good with it.

I don't think this your gambling lifestyle is a healthy one, as I said above if you want to gamble, use amount you can afford to lose. In your own case, instead of repeatedly losing you can make initial bankroll of total amount of money you know you can afford to lose and then you can be betting from there, you will see that even though you don't win much for that cycle, you wouldn't bother about anything.
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 13, 2024, 04:24:15 PM
What else can we expect from a player who barely has playing time? I don’t think it’s a abad idea to seek a move out of PSG because an experienced goalkeeper like him deserves to have a team of his own and not been seen as a 2nd choice. It could be difficult for a strong team to want his services but instead of him to end up in smaller clubs it would be better for him to seek a move to Saudi Arabia League or MLS or even China League where he would be valued.

Navas should have negotiated and stay in Nottingham as continuation of laon transfer rather ending terms to come back to PSG only to have 3 appearance play time and now that the season has come to an end, he will become a free working man. I don't even know what PSG was thinking in the first place, he is better off been sold to another club than letting go or perhaps he didn't like the deal presented by PSG.

Quote
Mbappe’s move will surely shake the team despite the coach assurance that the departure won’t be felt I strongly disagree because if you check their is no player in the team at the moment that is capable of doing what Mbappe has done, winning the golden boot for six consecutive seasons is not an easy feat and no one in the team can replicate that.

The coach is so egoistic, he knows what the team is capable of doing and he also know what gap Mbape can help the team to cover. He is not even ashamed or he is only trying to reassured the team that he can deliver more trophies for the club but how can you do that when the highest goal scorer in the league this season and in the club all time scorer has left you guys, jokes on him.
29  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 13, 2024, 04:03:55 PM
Liverpool will play the game with nothing to lose, they will not go up or down whatever the result will be. Aston Villa still need to secure a ticket for Champions League, because Tottenham is behind them by 4 points difference. If Villa lose in this game and Tottenham win their game, the gap will be only one point. This means Aston Villa have aspiration to win the game, while Liverpool don't care about the result.

It might not benefit Liverpool in any ways, if it was Chelsea now then I think it will not just move them in the table but Cole Palmer will have a way to make more goals to compete even more as he is 4 points from reaching Haaland, I think Fulham spoilt everything. However, if Aston Villa actually win this match, it help them advance against anything that will happen between Tottenham and Manchester City.

Quote
This game will be quite intriguing game. Liverpool is a tough team when they don't feel pressure to win the game, while Aston Villa playing at home will give their best fight for their aspiration to play in Champions League next season. Liverpool lately don't have a good record of playing away games, while Aston Vila have every reason to win the game. Bookies as usual put a bigger team as favorite, they often ignore the stake of the playing teams. All these situation makes it not easy to predict the result of this game.

I'm not sure what will come from this, Arsenal is in good from but they lose to Aston Villa both home and away and Liverpool are not that good in performance as of recent and they aware also playing away, I'm not sure if Liverpool can give them a good finishing but pst record says Aston Villa aren't match for Liverpool.
30  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 13, 2024, 03:45:57 PM
One major factor in Real Madrid league success this season is Ancellotti. They stuck gold with that man. If you recall, Vinicius was never this good before Ancellotti arrived at Madrid. Ancellotti transformed him into a different player and today he's one among the top 3 best winger in Europe. That's incredible.
Same thing Ancellotti did with Bellingham. He used him to perfection. In midfield, Bellingham is the the most technical midfielders, but Ancellotti used him as a false 9 and it worked perfectly for real Madrid. He was able to score goals that secured Madrid the league. That shows a man that's very good at what he does. I've heard stories of his top notch man man management and I think those stories are true.

Anceloti is Anceloti and he has a good record and it's the reason why he has remain to settle with number Spain club in the world but I want you to know that Real Madrid is Real Madrid and any player that is opportune to play in that club, they do it with all their might and power, they do it as if their life's depend on it, they do it for the club and that's why when you check the track of the players once they are signed to club, they go wild. Example of Bellingham, people says he is mid and it's just PR but he was making goals equivalent to his appearance in matches.

Quote
Next season with the inclusion of Mbappe, Madrid are going to be a more ruthless side. Mbappe would take the number 9 position of course because I don't believe Ancellotti will keep Vini on then bench, he's too good for that. With Vini and Mbappe upfront, the midfield just need to be creative enough and they would have a good season.

It will not make any difference to me but they will be feared even more because so far, a lose of a just single match and then you add another one of the most sort out wings in France, they will not only make Spain a sleepless place for other people, they will make Laliga becomes the farmers league they always fear and people that hate Real Madrid will hate forever.
31  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 12, 2024, 07:54:37 PM
Madrid's performance in this match really surprised me. I didn't expect Madrid to perform so well. Real Madrid played this match with their second tier players. However, the team performed brilliantly. Madrid players have adapted themselves well to Ancelotti's match strategy. And that's why Madrid won by a huge margin of 4-0 at the home of Granada.

A team like Granada isn't something difficult to handle for Real Madrid even it's a second tier team that they played agains Granada there is no way they will beat Real Madrid because they 4 matches in total for this season, Anceloti decision to used those players is justify because they have to prepare for the Champions League task ahead, they have already bottled Laliga, so the rest of the matches doesn't matter if not for the record of not losing a single match in a season.

Quote
Madrid played an attacking strategy from the beginning of the match. A total of 13 shots were made by Madrid players, 7 of which were on target. On the other hand, although the players of Granada made 12 shots, there was only one shot on target. The dominance Madrid showed with their second row players was also surprising.

They also tested Cortois, I don't want to believe that rumor is becoming true, I want to see Lunin take his flowers. It's going to be a mocking game for Real Madrid when they start losing matches right after Cortois resume towards the end of the season.
32  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 12, 2024, 06:17:50 PM
It is three points for Arsenal again as they were able to defend the only goal which they managed to s ore on the 20th minutes of the match. Trossad goal made the difference in today's match. Manchester united took total control of the match both in the first half and the second half, but they were unable to score any goal.

United keeps dropping points which shows that they might end up in a bad position at the end of the season, and that is not something to write home about. Arsenal is currently topping the table, until Manchester city play and win their own match before the will step down.

Arteta strategy was just make sure you score the first goal and then keep pushing harder if there will be more opportunities to score more and that was it, they had the first goal and because it was home match, they expected Manchester United to come hard for them but it seems this Erik Ten boys are tired of the league already, they don't feel motivated any longer. I saw Anthony face the other time like the guy was coming to finish the match for Manchester United in the 70 minutes but nothing good came out, flopped players.

The dream of Arsenal now lies between the outcome of Manchester City and Tottenham, Kai Havertz and the rest want to support Tottenham and I hope the dream comes through otherwise, all the struggle Arsenal has did in the last 6 matches will be for nothing, they had the chance to beat Aston Villa but they lost and that's where the lose the bet in this run but finger cross to that outcome.
33  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: High Fees on Electrum? Normal? on: May 12, 2024, 01:06:50 PM
Is the number of coin control inputs going to matter?

Yes, every input in a transaction matters. The more the number of inputs you add to your transaction, the more the size becomes bigger. Let me make an illustration for you:
Let's say our basis for inputs and output are native segwit(version 0) since you received your coins from signature, the transaction input is 68 vbyte and 31 vbytes for output.

If you are spending:
1 input and 1 output will give you 109.5 vbytes transaction.
2 inputs and 1 output will give you 177.25 vbytes transaction.
5 inputs and 1 output will give you 380.5 vbytes transaction.
More input and 1 input will give you bigger vbytes transaction consequently.

Now, imagine having 10 or even 15 inputs for a single transaction, you will have to pay more fees for every vbytes for that transaction. More inputs, more fees.

You can check this thread by Charles-Tim for more understanding.

However, with coin control, if you have much inputs and you want to spend only few Bitcoin, let's say you have $300 worth in total balance and you want to spend $100, you can just add few inputs that can give you equivalent $100 or more to spend and get back a change if there is from your transaction.

Quote
is it going to affect the transaction speed or its just a matter of privacy?

Speed of transactions has nothing to do with your inputs, if you want a faster transactions, you have to pay an optimal fee to get your transaction included in the next block.

Privacy comes when you spend inputs together.
34  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: High Fees on Electrum? Normal? on: May 12, 2024, 08:05:45 AM

Do this one and make the fees lower to what I normally expected  Smiley Is this right? Set it to around 12sats since that is what's in the high priority of mempool.

With this, you should be able to make your transaction, the fee amount wouldn't be more than ~$2.1 or better still check mempool again if the fee rate has increased or decrease before you broadcast the transaction.

Quote
Didn't know about his coins, static, add to control, etc. seems new to me, I usually just send it directly and the fees are lower and match on the mempool I didn't need to do this setup is it new?, thanks a lot!

As he said earlier, you don't really have to worry about this though, as your fee rate isn't that much but there is disadvantage in consolidating many inputs in single transaction because it's break your privacy completely and chain observers can easily guess the destination of transactions.

For next time, you can learn to use it so you don't have to spend all your inputs when you want to spend just a little amount of bitcoin, because by default electrum will spend everything(all inputs) and give you a change in another address.
35  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where do whales trade/withdraw money? on: May 09, 2024, 07:00:15 PM
I probably shouldn't be asking this question because I am an old member of this forum but this recent article on Cointelegraph quickly inspired me to ask this question here today. Satoshi-era dormant Bitcoin address wakes up after 10 years.

Most of this old wallets can belong to anyone, Satoshi wasn't the only person that contributed to Bitcoin back in 2009-2010, there were lot of solo miners then and some contributors that mine Bitcoin then because even your laptop then can mine then but things have change now because of the difficulties and judging by those wallets, the person only sent Bitcoin from his legacy wallet addresses to a segwit once probably because he change wallet to a modern one.

Quote
My questions are the following:
1. People who own hundreds and thousands of Bitcoins, where do they trade? It's risky to deposit such a high amount of coins on platforms like Binance and Coinbase because you aren't guaranteed that they won't block your account, even immediately after you deposit them. So where do they trade?

I'm not sure if you are taking relating to that coin but an exchange doesn't have that right to hold your account for having a large amount, you were verified by the way so they know where to take a lead if something is suspicious but I just think that it's not a good idea to always use centralized exchange for such, it breaks your privacy.

Quote
2. How do they convert their Bitcoins into fiat? I know that years ago there were some bank transfer deals on this forum, I remember that Bitmain wanted to sell 10 Bitcoin or something like that here and they probably had a deal with a forum member but today when the price is so high, where do these big holders sell their coins and get fiat in their bank account? On traditional exchanges?

We have decentralized exchange like the hodlhodl that are still in existence today and are working perfectly, you can trade their but I think some people use OTC which is over the counter where you can do bulk of transaction buying and selling without going through the exchanges
36  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why are people getting scared to Trade on: May 09, 2024, 06:30:26 PM
Why are people afraid to trade? This is something that is very difficult for the public to understand, the people themselves don't want to think about complicated things according to some of them, especially since the things they see are very gray to them, looking deeper into the matter of trading has many risks that will be discovered if we not being able to study this matter well, we must be able to understand and study everything that will happen, maybe it will happen, and it will definitely happen.

I do trade when I see some green flag on the market and what I will tell you is that many traders are afraid of trading because the first time expectations didn't go as the result they had and they gave up immediately. What many of them think is that they can just harvest money with their capital and continue like that but the moments they bites the dust most particularly people that has the habit of not using stop loss, they cease to trade again and the memory lives on.

Quote
Trading is an activity that is difficult for most people to do and understand, not a few are successful in this trading, all of them learn the risks and profits quite well, that's why some of us don't want to know and it ends in failure which results in loss. money which we call capital in trading.
The point is that in doing something that has risks, if we succeed in doing it well then the profits we will get are not small, everything goes according to the process that we do well so the results will be good.

Most often the emotional handling of trading is the most hard part of most traders, they don't want to just see the lost and I don't understand why you want profit when you don't want to lose, it's normal to lose while trading but it's bad when it consistent, it shows that you don't know how to trade. It's better to understand trading well before even starting to avoid any discouragement later.
37  Economy / Economics / Re: Prioritizing strong foundation over quick gains on: May 09, 2024, 06:09:24 PM
Setting out strong foundation that's aimed at supporting long term gain is the best thing you can do for yourself and regardless of the fact that you might not be getting quick results like short term investors and individuals, the benefit that comes with long term investment in the right thing  will always supercede any quick gain that's mostly for short sighted individuals.

I wish this kinda advice age like win in crypto space but the truth is that these only matter if you are doing it for your own self, like trying to look at fundamentals before you invest but on wide scale today, a lot of people including the teams we are having today have gone wild. People now prioritize gain over working project that can open door for more opportunities in the future which can equally contribute to new price discovery.

For instance, take a peep at this X post from Binance account, they will be listing Notcoin, this coin or token rather was farm by people virtually just tapping their phone and now Binance is about to make it go big, a lot of people are going to cashout from this farming and airdrop and we have many projects that has been posting update on their github making something unique and even beg Binance for a place and other top tier exchanges but they don't just care because exchange prefer something that will bring them profits than the development of any projects.
38  Economy / Economics / Re: Banning of p2p on crypto apps in Nigeria on: May 08, 2024, 08:01:58 PM
I am so much concerned to why Nigerians government is banning the use of p2p on some crypto apps. To their allegations, it's said the crypto is affecting the currency and it also aids money laundry. Can anyone enlighten if what the government is doing is the right thing. The government left the banking sector and blames binance and other crypto companies.

When I first see this on Nairametrics, I wasn't move a bit because p2p didn't start today and wouldn't end tomorrow. We were doing p2p transactions right before the exchanges implementated it, even in this forum there were escrow here acting as the middle person to settle trade but centralized exchanges saw this opportunity as marketing strategies to draw customers by not charging any fees and it became so big as a multi billion dollars investment.

If the government decides to ban this, I think this will bring a rise in decentralized p2p where the government doesn't have anything to do with them, even this one they are threatening it's left for the centralized exchanges to agree with them or not but as long as the exchanges doesn't charge anything for those p2p transactions, the government has nothing on the them and beside, dollar to naira is now an open market which depend on the forces of demand and supply, I don't understand why the government is chasing shadows.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust bitcoin holders? on: May 08, 2024, 07:55:32 PM
Since bitcoin promotes mostly anti-government, banks, etc.

I really hope you know what you are saying, when you say anti banks, I will agree with you fully but when you said Anti government, I will agree with you partially because there are some fiscal policies the government make that the banks are using to control the people and that's privacy concern, other than that Bitcoin is anti Bank and complete does the opposite of what Banks are doing and doesn't really have anything to with how governments does their things.

Quote
I am wondering; Do you trust bitcoin holders?

Wait a minute, do you think that if the government own more 70% of the circulating supply, you think they will sell? Hell no, that's exactly what they want and they don't have it. If they have the opportunity to hold that amount, regulation of Bitcoin becomes simple to implement and miners wouldn't have choice than to agree with every of their decisions. Some of the seek road Bitcoin that were seize by US government aren't sold till today, don't you think they have plan for holding those Bitcoins.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regulations Not Working as Planned?? on: May 08, 2024, 07:32:04 PM
Do you think it is true, that right now with the governments, banks “powers that be” in attempt to Gain control of BTC and other cryptos.
They are trying to put into regulations etc. Yet there are troubles to making the cryptos as “securities”
With all the lawsuits “they “ try to put onto the crypto companies. Has not worked in the “favour” of the powers that be?
Is this true?

They might called it regulations but to me, I think they are trying to shadow Bitcoin, what makes Bitcoin a real Bitcoin apart from the label of been security. If I remember correctly, Bitcoin as security has been thrown, only majority of alts are been considered as securities and the SEC release a list of crypto they regarded as security but Ethereum and Bitcoin weren't included in that list but the government hunt down on some crypto platforms is making Bitcoin becoming a shadow.

Quote
Does this prove that the blockchain tech is a success?

That BTC could work as a money system for the people and help people to devalue FIAT currency?

Or am I wrong and the “powers that be” are winning  and people will lose in the crypto world?

Your thoughts?

There is no need for a soothsayer to tell if Bitcoin/blockchain tech is a success, it's has been launch since 2009 and has never for once go off, else they would have used that to ridicule it many times. However, the government is hunting down everything that is making Bitcoin decentralized, mixers are now hidding and can't work anymore, miners are been restricted and that undermine the security of Bitcoin, even the exchange both centralized and decentralized ones are not left out. This is not regulation but gradual degrading of Bitcoin from mainstream.
