21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [FRAC] Fractalcoin | X11 | Slingshield | % fees | 0.5% Premine on: June 27, 2014, 05:53:12 PM
Been mining FRAC since day #1.. I haven't stuck with a coin for this long in a while! FractalCoin is one of those sleeper coins that when it blows up people will curse themselves for not buying when it was cheap!

Same here...I think this coin will became well ranked in near future, it's just the beggining.

It needs more "propaganda"...
Frankly, it needs more post in this forum.  Other coins have hundreds of pages, which keeps them on the front page of the alt coin section.

We need more discussion of what is next for Frac.  I think an optional Anon feature is a nice to have.  Like a checkbox in the wallet that lets you 'anonomize' the transaction only between you and the buyer.  For private stuff like adult websites. Sure, it will get used for other ill gotten booty, but no more than piles of cash get used today.

I am trying to upgrade my 1.0 QT Wallet on Mac OSX Maverick to the 1.02.

First, it will not compile from source with various errors.  Then I tried to just download from the website, and it also crashes.

Anyone else having these issues? I changed the QT versions, and the db from 4.8 to 5 something and back, nothing seemed to change.

Fractal mining profitability?

I have been mining this since day zero.  With the price and diff where they are, I am getting just a tad over .002 sat / MH/s daily.  Not too different from normal Scrypt multipool mining, much better than X11 coins that I have seen letely. However, that is not why I am mining it, as I am not dumping a cent at current pricing.

If the price gets back to day one prices, or to the .01 SAT that someone posted here - then you are looking at mining in the .02 sat / MH/s a day, which is of course 5x higher than most anything else to mine on right now.

I am sure the diff will go crazy when the last day of 40 FRAC a block hits, but at 20 and later 10, seems worth keeping the GPU miners running to me.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] New Crypto Currency FRANKO [Mandatory update at block 640k] on: June 18, 2014, 02:02:44 AM
I also believe you made a bad chain the official fork.
Our pool is back online with this  , uh, "official" blockchain.

lost alot

Same here, several pools have switched over but one can still compare https://altexplorer.net/chain/Franko and https://coinplorer.com/FRK to see that the bad fork that was made official still has 2x lower diff. What a low move....

The reason I chose the shorter chain was because all of the main nodes including cryptsy and coins-e and the two main block explorers were stuck at block 785863 and reporting that specific block as being invalid. Whoever made the invalid block probably did so on an old wallet before the kgw timewarp fix. Some of the pools accepted it while most of the wallets didnt. By the time I released the fix to get cryptsy syncing again the chain autocorrected and orphaned the longer chain anyways. Why did it do that? Because only a few of the clients were actually accepting it.

So what was the right answer? Allow an invalid block by putting in an "ignore block 785864 it may be invalid but who cares" or orphan a days worth of work to make sure the block chain syncs fine and does so by staying true to the parameters we all agree on.

Altexplorer.net was on the wrong chain, it may be longer, there were a couple pools on the longer chain but it was still an invalid chain, if you dont believe me, set up 2 nodes on a private network with the other chain.. have the one node already have the wrong chain but start the second node from scratch and you will see it doesnt sync past 785863 then check the log and you will see why.

FRK was stuck for 37 hours before anyone noticed, cryptsy needed a fix asap or risk being delisted. So again, what would you have done? I'm sorry some people lost work, I dont have any money to compensate, wish I did but the only option we have is to move forward. We need to do whatever it takes to stay moving forward even if it means to step back a couple steps and correct a problem.

Well, I have been a FRK coin supporter up to now, but if this technically is possible, in my opinion - it deserves to be delisted and go the way of the dodo bird.

How can this sort of thing be expected to get wide acceptance and be treated like a currency when it can go on for 37 hours before anyone notices - and pools can run for days longer with no errors wasting days and days of work.

There have to be innovations to make these blockchains healing and self-correcting or the whole alt coin experiment is just going to be a failure.  But we also have to accept failures and move on - which is what we should do with lots of the first round of alt coins, and I am done with this one.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [FRAC] Fractalcoin | X11 | Slingshield | % fees | 0.5% Premine on: June 17, 2014, 02:20:42 PM
Youch, FractalCoin is sinking like a rock on Bittrex  Sad

The way I see it, this just the nature of a new coin with a halvening in the mining payout.  The high payout at first attracts miners that are looking to recoup their efforts instantly by selling.  The buyers are those that are either investors or pump and dumpers.  With the a new coin, the PnD crowd probably has not arrived yet, so the only buyers are this small group of fans and some speculators.

Supply and demand.

But - here is the good part.  The supply is small, and with a community behind it and some effort by all to get the coin accepted by the larger Alt community, the demand will catch on.  Polo will be a good step, and the other items the Devs are looking for in their post about bounties will help.  That will create demand, and with small supply and a good method of keeping the block chain moving in the PoS stage, versus the multipool dependency, we should have a valuable coin in our pockets in 28 days or so.

27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ ANN ] SATē - A new dawn - PoS - No Premine on: June 17, 2014, 01:09:01 AM
Anyone see the '51% attack for Saturn' comment on Mintpal's SAT /BTC exchange?  Was that real, or just a big pool that threw an alarm in their monitoring?
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]AXIS coin + - Hybrid - X13 - 6M. Android Ticker. MANDATORY WALLET! on: June 17, 2014, 12:38:59 AM
It would be nice to see the dev(s) starting to chat a bit more. Not just announcing plans but being a little social to help build a community.

It is understandable for people to comment that Axis does look like a wasted coin because of this.

Okay, I'll try to start something off here. If there's objections, fine... Nothing bad meant.

Are there any regular thread readers (or new ones) that would like to contribute something to the coin? If there's any talents "out there", it might be good to get together and see what we have. Then, if it looks like things can move forward, we can do that.

I'd suggest we list a few of our interests, skills and stuff like that. You don't have to be an expert PhotShopper... In fact, it might also be an idea to work out some kind of mentor system so anyone wanting to get into coding, design, art, etc can do so by working with others that have experience and skills.

Just an idea but if we pool talent, we might be able to improve the coin (PLEASE NO SILLY IDEAS SUCH AS ANONYMOUS TRANSACTIONS!) and form a working team to help the devs.

Here's what I might be able to input into this:

Coding skills are fair to decent: PHP, Perl, Python, C++, some lisp, forth, fortran.
Other skills: Photography, image design, music composition, animation, video editing.
Not so good: 3D modelling (e.g. Blender) as my hands aren't so good with the really fine control needed for some manipulation/etc.
Would like to increase knowledge: Languages (as many as possible French, Japanese, etc) just about anything else I don't know already.

Anyway, if you want to add your thoughts, skills, ideas, etc: please do so.

I have no talents - but liked the coin.  PiOfCube - you know where to find me.  Let me know how I can help.

I have been mining this since it went live - and so far so good.  Wallet is working fine on my Mac, which lots do not.

Generally I do not understand the whole 'halving' of coins over time - and how that is supposed to help, but since it is only a few weeks before PoS, I guess I do not have to learn between now and then.

Glad the prices went down for now, going to supplement my hoard of them for later.

Where the f**k are the trolls now?

That's all? No more drama? No more popcorn?

Sad day when we are looking for Trolls Smiley

Just to add to the lack of drama - my wallet compiled and is running just fine.  Rats?
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][1CR] 1CRedit Coin Relaunch on: June 09, 2014, 02:03:53 PM
Well - I applaud the effort to make a coin that avoids forks and is stable - such as this one.

Also - having no scamy IPO, premine, or foundation is something.  The dev is clearly just trying to move the whole crypto-currency forward, and not trying to pocket a handful of BTC and move one.

Also it is on Poloniex if you don't want to mine it:  https://poloniex.com/exchange/btc_1cr
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS [Investor/Merchant Focused!!] on: June 09, 2014, 12:46:14 AM
So is the staking still random, like mining?    I see some post that say you do not have to have you wallet open, but if it is 'like' mining, then you would need it open.

Do the odds of 'hitting a stake' increase with quantity of the coins in the wallet?

Thanks
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ ANN ] SATē - A new dawn - PoS - No Premine on: June 07, 2014, 10:50:29 PM
I have a new error on my Ubuntu SaturnCoin wallet:

 "errors" : "EXCEPTION: 11DbException       \nDb::put: Cannot allocate memory       \nsaturncoin in ProcessMessages()       \n"

I read to 'increase the mutex region by adding a DB_CONFIG file', but not sure where to add it.  Any one have this with the latest wallet?
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ ANN ] SATē - A new dawn - PoS - No Premine on: June 06, 2014, 02:56:15 PM
I am not 100% sure I understand the new SAT2 POW stage.  Where do the SAT2 coins come from that are exchanged for the 1000 SATs?

Wouldn't you need a premine to create all of those, to give to Cryptsy to do the exchange?

Does new wallet start on block 1 in PoW for SAT2 for miners for those 20 days?

Thanks, sound intriguing.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HMY] HarmonyCoin|IPO Live On Bitrrex|X13|POW/POS|Anon Functions| on: June 05, 2014, 10:55:03 PM

I'm just catching up on this thread now and want inject a couple of thoughts.  Bittrex's main goal is to protect the traders/miners of the crypto community and to allow for a safe place for transactions to happen.  Two things can happen here... a) a dev team can offer an IPO in a BCT thread, where people can just run off with the money no questions asked, or b) we can list the ICO  (initial coin offer .. lets get away from the IPO term) and ensure that the proper assets change hands with delivery requirements.

Personally I would think you want option b here.  If you do research and believe its not trustworthy, do no invest.  We are here just as an escrow to protect you in the transaction.  The free market should decide what is and isn't successful.

For the record, we did not get paid, nor do we get any proceeds from ICOs we do (minus our tiny trade fee).

Thanks,
richie@bittrex

Frankly - I think you should get paid for hosting an ICO; there is a potential risk and you are taking the responsibility of escrow.

Any word from the dev team?
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RELAUNCH] Yincoin/Yangcoin ☯☯ Destroying Coins|Distributing Coins|Big NEWS on: June 05, 2014, 01:58:08 PM
Harmony IPO in it's 6th hour, 251115 of 3M sold so far at 6000, looks like it's more or less on track with 4 days of IPO

It looks like it is disabled.  Is there a Harmony thread started?

Good morning everyone, can we get a couple more community opinions regarding the early release of our dedicated multipool, please read my last couple posts for topic clarification.  This is possibly something we could have as early as tonight for those who mine. Its currently scrypt and x11 algos to choose from. So please give the dCom team your thoughts regarding this, and thanks to those that already have.

I do not see why you would not want to open it early.  I could throw some hash at it.

suprnova pool is up again...

Are you showing unconfirmed coins?  I am hashing but still showing 0 blocks on Supr

This shit makes zero sense. Using exchanges to "wash" coins doesn't make anything anonymous. Plus, why do you need a new coin if you want to try to launder anything via an exchange, can't it be done with any coin?

Seems like it to me.
