21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains | XBridge | true cross-chain P2P on: April 03, 2017, 04:17:02 PM
Cool. I think something like that will be needed for this to catch on. With the bar set so high to get the DX running with just one BTC pair (110GB or more of free space, time/bandwidth to d/l the blockchains, reconfiguring of the wallets, etc.) people are going to at least want to know it is going to be worth the time and effort to do so first.

I do see the potential however with the of hacks and closures of traditional exchanges that go on (Bitfenix, Mintpal, Cryptsy, etc.)...not to mention the DDoS attacks that go on with Polo at the most critical high volume/high price movement moments when you really need your orders to execute.

Still, though, if the success of Blocknet relies on the failing of other exchanges it may never catch on. It will need to have the same level of ease of use. Having a quick easy way of checking the order book seems like low hanging fruit for a step in that direction.

100% agree. Some people don't seem to have a problem with downloading the blockchains but I think for it to get any decent amount of users it needs to be really easy to use, like you say.

Quick reply!  Its really great to see the devs responding and being open to ideas like this from the community.

I actually asked your question a couple of weeks ago too, regarding not having to download the blockchains to use the exchange. Apparently it is doable and will happen further down the line.  Smiley

Wait I'm confused...so you DO have to run a node for each coin you want to trade? If so then that brings me back to my first question. Is there a site where someone can go just to check the DX's orderbook without running all the nodes? Like, does the blocknet team or a community member have a system that IS running a full DX with all the nodes (or at least the most popular ones like BTC, ETH, and XMR) and sending the info to a public website? (Even if it's just the orderbook in simple text form with no transaction history)

I just asked for you on Slack...

Quote
yes although it wouldn’t be “sending the info”, the website would make an api call

i could put that together once we fork

Is this still being developed or has it been given up on?

Does anyone know if there are any alternatives?

You guys should start up a slack team. new account little fudsters stop being a problem then.  Wink
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains | XBridge | true cross-chain P2P on: December 09, 2014, 11:49:52 PM
Why not just post a list of fudders in the Op for people to add to their ignore list? Seems this would be easier and less hassle for everyone than completely moving to slack. I think having a separate forum just for devs and holders to discuss things without interruption from idiots is a great idea but this is throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Any official announcements or updates will still be posted here. Slack is simply better for day to day discussion.

@reebokass & gerdab,

A lot of us are in the same boat, but it is what it is. we just gotta wait. The updates will come when they are ready. The website is on its way, some has been posted on slack.

I agree it can get frustrating without getting regular updates but just hold tight.

...Or sell.

I would like to vote Dan Metcalf (atcsecure), lead developer of XCurrency and Blocknet(the internet of Blockchains)

XCurrency | https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=630547.0 | http://xc-official.com/

Blocknet | https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=829576.0 | http://theblocknet.com/

Twitter votes are not counting for Dan Metcalf. Can this be sorted out please?

Almost ready with the Slack here...recovering from the flu so it's taken a tad longer than I'd hoped.

I want to maintain a private group of verified holders of Blocknet tokens on Slack.

So I seek input as to what amount of tokens should be set as the barrier to entry.

1000 tokens has been proposed by a few XC supporters.

This would represent an approximate contribution of $100 USD to the ITO.

Now's your time to give your input!

I would validate my blocknet address, but would not support sending additional funds to the ITO, which is what I think you mean, or do I set a new wallet some where with 1000 blocks I never touch?

Hey,

You don't have to send any additional funds to the ITO.

All you have to do is sign a message from your BLOCK address to prove you have over 1000 BLOCK.

You could create another address in your Blocknet wallet and send 1000 BLOCK to that address if you wish.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains | XBridge | true cross-chain P2P on: December 02, 2014, 10:14:09 PM
Ok. I understand. I'm sure you have considered how the existence of a private group within the larger group appears exclusionary and how that just might not resonate well with the the excluded "have not so manys". How long will it take for the private group to begin to exert itself in the matter of policy decisions? It's like the current structure of publicly held corporations where the elitist boards of directors get to call the shots while the regular shareholders lack any real say (by and large, granting the occasional exception) in how the company is run.

As soon as you create an arbitrary line between "us" and "them" you begin to descend a slippery slope.

Also, the amount I have proposed, 1000 tokens, is hardly an elitist quantity in my opinion. This amount makes the private group accessible to almost everyone who holds tokens. 1000 tokens today can be obtained for ~$50 USD. It's enough to deter those who only wish to detract, but not so much that it could be considered an elitist entry.

Also if the price were to rise, the amount of BLOCK needed can always be lowered.

sooo ... xc is dead?

The community and developers are alive and well. Productive discussion has moved over to Slack. There's a lot of activity over there.

I'm not sure they'll take "Paid Fudders" and other brainless trolls though. Sorry!

For some reason my XCurrency wallet got deleted without a notice, I still have all the files, but the .exe is just gone.

Why did this happen?

Good to see ya Goat!

I had the exact same problem. very annoying. are you using Avast antivirus?

You need to just disable antivirus for, say, an hour. re-download latest wallet, and all should be back to normal.

Problem I have found though, is even if you add XCurrency-qt.exe to the exclusions list in Avast, it still deletes it. for now im thinking of just using a different antivirus.

Anyway, PM me your email. Join slack. people are there now sorting issues out.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos on: November 27, 2014, 09:20:58 AM
my wallet doesnt sync, what should i do  ?? please post here step by step how to resolve this problem.

Anyone having an issue should get onto the Troubleshooting thread in XCurrency's Slack. Seems to be sorted.

I wouldn't say the root cause of the stalled sync has been sorted.

We've simply noted that if you delete the blockchain and database and begin to resync from scratch (oftentimes having to close the app and restart it when the sync stalls numerous times along the way) that eventually the wallet will sync up and remain synced for some time thereafter.

I have had this problem periodically with all POS coins so I'm not sure what to make of it.

But seeing as how I'm not the only one, it may be worth further investigating the issue.

Maybe it's an issue with how things are commonly set up on users' computers. Maybe it's an issue with POS itself.

Regardless of the cause, the result is annoying.

Hi, I have this issue, how do I get to the solution? I'd have assumed this would be on XCtalk or here particularly as it's clearly not an isolated case. Sorry my first post is a whinge but I've been in XC for a while and now also Blocknet and having followed the forum for months now surely it's clear that further diluting communications isn't really helping anybody.

If someone could post the solution here I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers

Ian

it seems to be a bit of a weird one.  Infinitechaos had this problem for quite a while and suddenly it just started syncing.  A few others still have the problem but generally,  it seems to be a case of close it down wait,  and it should sort itself out.  I've got both of my wallets sorted now.  One was just very slow to sync,  but got there in the end,  the other was a completely seperate problem but was sorted thanks to the community members on slack.

I know this isn't exactly a very technical answer,  but I suggest joining slack if you want a quicker response and more direct help.  It's starting to get quite busy there now and there should be someone about unless everyone is asleep.  Pm me your email for an invite.

Does anyone know if Dan is around?

I'm having problems with my wallet. The xcurrency-qt.exe file disappeared and now I cant re install it. I've tried everything I can think of.

Also, Infinitechaos says that the blockchain isn't syncing up.

(Would be good if Dan joined slack, i posted the error message I keep getting over there)

Thanks.
