21  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-05-15] Decoding the Enigma of Satoshi Nakamoto and the Birth of Bitcoin on: May 16, 2015, 10:29:21 AM
The article points out a wide range of 'coincidences' between the activities of nick Szabo and Satoshi. Too many to call them just coincidences or to ignore them.

Yeah, my money is on Szabo, though I wasn't 100% convinced until I saw this:

22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New York Times identifies Nick Szabo as Satoshi Nakamoto on: May 16, 2015, 09:58:01 AM
the overwhelming evidence that satoshi is british ( british spellings and grammer, plus british newspaper reference in genesis) always gets ignored when they try to convince people that satoshi is american.....

That's not really evidence. How do you know it's not just what he wants you to believe? If I was going to try conceal my identity I would try throw people off using different spellings or grammar or logging in at a different timezone etc and I'm not even half as smart as satoshi.
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao - Who are you taking? on: May 09, 2015, 01:13:03 PM
Unfortunately any sanctions for Pacman and his team will be literally peanuts compared to the amount of money he made on that night even after losing.
Floyd wants a rematch when he is 100% recovered a year from now, it will be even more exciting than the initial fight even if you are pissed off now and want to say "oh I will not watch it" you will watch it and you know it lol.

What is your source for this statement?
I have read/heard that Floyd will not fight Manny again, ever.

If they do fight again, i certainly wont be shocked.
Im one of the people you claim will watch a rematch if it ever happens. We will have to agree to disagree on that...but i would be willing to bet that IF they do fight again, the revenue generated will be less for the rematch than the first fight.

Ever single boxing fan ive talked to about the fight said they would not buy the PPV rematch.
Of course, like you imply, many of these people are still recently salty...and many after a year may change their position.

I wont change my mind about never giving boxing another dime of mine.
I would much rather see Connor McGregor actually fight than see Floyd dance around.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/floyd-mayweather-agrees-manny-pacquiao-5643101

they're getting old, so it would be probably a boring fight again if the rematch would really take place.

I really hope this is true. They need to give the fans the fight they wanted to see. Everyone was dissapointed with that fight. Such a let down. Hopefully they'll both be in peak fitness the next time.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone who's going to hear about bitcoin has heard about it on: May 09, 2015, 01:10:35 PM
To say Everyone who's going to hear about bitcoin has heard about it is quite a silly and ridiculous statement in my opinion. On the grand scheme of things bitcoin hasn't even even reached a few percent or its capability. Many people might have heard of it but are not interested in it currently but they may be in the future but there's still masses of people that haven't heard of it at all or have little to no idea what it's about.
25  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-4-21] Presidential Candidate Rand Paul Impresses at the NY Bitcoin Event on: April 22, 2015, 10:37:34 AM
An attendee Paul Hanson @PaulHansonNY tweeted on April 20, 2015: “Rand was brief but on-point in his remarks. Very exciting to see our next president in person.”

Haha. yeah, right. Keep dreaming. He's not got a chance. We all know it's going to be either Clinton or Bush again.

On being quizzed about Bitcoin regulation and national security, Paul said, “Important to keep innovation in US.”

They'll all say whatever they can to get in but its a different story when they do, sadly.
26  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many of you signature campaign posters sell your coins once you received it? on: April 22, 2015, 10:31:16 AM
I haven't earned any personally yet but whether someone holds them, sells them, trades them, or buys things with them directly the choice is up to them but they are all helping the bitcoin economy in their own way. Personally I would prefer to hold for a while because I believe the price can exceed its previous high of around 1k eventually.
27  Economy / Digital goods / Re: have torrent trackers..for trade on: April 09, 2015, 08:32:03 PM
No what or waffle invites? What's generally considered the best movie site as I;m after one? I've got iptorrents and torrentleech already but want a specialist one.
28  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Looking for Amazon gift codes at discounted prices on: April 09, 2015, 08:29:10 PM
I think the question is at what discount? The heavily discounted codes are usually always carded so there's a risk there and obviously you will be partaking in something ilegal if they're bought with stolen cards. Something to consider.
29  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buying bitcoins feels like buying winning lottery tickets on: March 23, 2015, 03:46:50 PM
People are just afraid, they fear that bitcoin may still be only an experiment and they are not convinced it will succeed for sure. That is why they are sceptical about it. After that historical +$1000 bitcoin price peak people think it is a fail that bitcoin is now worth less than $300.

I think fear is a big part of it. If I had money to burn I would put a lot of it into bitcoin as I think longterm the price will be peanuts compared to what it is now, but it's not guranteed and I'm not 100% confident on it, but as with all investments you've got to have the balls to put your money where your mouth is otherwise you'll never make any money if you don't.
30  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Should I start an Escrow Service? on: March 10, 2015, 09:01:33 PM
I suppose youve got more feedback than the usual people I see here trying to start escrowing, though I'm not sure if this forum needs new ones to be honest. I think all escrowers should be also very active and highly trusted with previous experience of escrowing deals (if you're active peeps will probably ask you to escrow deals for them). I think that's how most start off any ways.
31  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: March 10, 2015, 08:57:24 PM
Does someone want to fill me in on what this is? How do I get into one?

Choose one from the op that is applicable to your membergroup, put their signature in, don't spam and get paid to post. You don't get much as a Newbie but you get more as you achieve a higher forum rank.
32  Other / Off-topic / Re: Sony considers exit from phone, TV markets to focus on PlayStation on: February 20, 2015, 08:37:42 PM
samsung makes a better TV. i had 70 sony and 75 samsung. samsungs are significantly brighter and more colorful. sony is also more expensive which makes no sense since samsung is better.

There's a Sony shop near me and it's ridiculously expensive. Even the Playstations are full whack and you can get them massively cheaper pretty much everywhere else.

They lost the phone battle with Samsung and Apple. Even Nokia, who used to be a leading brand is falling behind. Still a shame Xperia Z3 is a good phone.
Really? I know plenty of people who like Sony phones (personally I hate them), are they far behind?

I think their designs are worse than Samsung's. One of the reasons why me and most of my friends are using Samsungs is a removable battery. They also offer faster hardware for the same price.

Here's a comparison of phone sales in 2013 and 2014. The gap between sony and LG is increasing and Samsung is leaving others far behind Wink

No HTC? I think they make the best phones at the moment.

They lost the phone battle with Samsung and Apple. Even Nokia, who used to be a leading brand is falling behind. Still a shame Xperia Z3 is a good phone.
I still dont get why they dont exploit the gaming mouse niche more. I would totally buy an xperia play 2 because i want integrated gamepad that slides nicely inside the mouse.

You want a gamepad that also works as a mouse? I bet buying a pad and a mouse would be cheaper and more ergonomical, but something like that already exists.

Lol, that's kinda cool. Never seen anything like it before. Not sure how practical it would be, though.
33  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Thinking of offering loans... Anyone have suggestions? on: February 20, 2015, 08:29:35 PM
What are you looking to gain from your social experiment? Whether people will scam you or not? Loaning doesn't really seem profitable or worth the time to me. You gain pittance on interest and all it takes is one person to scam and you're in the red. And then there's the long-con scammers who take out loans just to buy the feedback and then scam you later on for a larger amount after they've built your trust.

Exactly this. There's a link to a paper (thesis?) someone I'll have to dig up that was quite interesting. It reviewed historical data about BTC scams, how they're carried out, and who performed them.

BTC are often compared to fiat currencies such as USD. BTC have no intrinsic value. They're only worth anything because we assign them value. This discussion could go on and on, but suffice to say I'm intrigued with sociology and the history of money, and interested to learn how this entire experiment turns out. The experiment being BTC.

Cash has no intrinsic value either. Everything is only worth something because we assign value to it. Money is just a worthless bit of paper otherwise.
34  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2015-02-08 CA - "Bitcoin Can Even Be a World Currency In its Truest Form" on: February 08, 2015, 01:51:34 PM
I think bitcoin could be a one world currency as much as that might alarm conspiracy theorists. As long as it's decentralized and not issued by a one world government then it's fine by me.

There would be nothing wrong with bitcoin being some sort of universal currency. In fact, I think it would be very good as one and hope it happens. It's not like you need to speak a specific language to use it as it's all math based and any person can use it across the globe.
35  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-02-06] Video: Life Inside a Secret Chinese Bitcoin Mine on: February 08, 2015, 01:44:12 PM
It makes me wonder what would happen to these sort of operations if bitcoin became vastly unprofitable to mine. How long could they keep running before the electricity costs just drive them into the ground?
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: McDonald's accepting Bitcoins (not really) on: January 31, 2015, 10:18:06 AM
I don't think so, We can't even use credit/debit card as a payment in MaDonald(China area),let alone use Bitcoin.

Have you thought why they don't accept credit cards? It's likely to do with fees they charge, though you can use them for even small purchases at mcdonalds in my country.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many of you still believe bitcoin will free you from paying tax one day? on: January 31, 2015, 10:15:26 AM
Once bitcoins get big enough they will just be taxed like fiat so there's no difference there.

I don't actually mind paying my taxes because I look at it like this; taxes are the annual dues I pay for my membership in the greatest country club in the world!
I get good roads, clean water, I have free medical care, the protection of my servants in the police force and fire dept. ... The list goes on.

If you don't like it move to Uzbekistan, my canada don't need you.

I'm not even sure if btc could serve as a decent tax haven, it's being regulated all over, as we speak, and I'm assuming that taxation is one of the reasons for this.

Canada is the greatest country in the world? Wait, I thought that was 'Murica? Grin
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Safe Buys and Scams on: January 12, 2015, 03:41:47 PM
What would you consider to be safe buys in altcoins for the time being and maybe holding for the next 6-12 months?

Which coins do you consider to be scams and to avoid at all costs?

No coins are safe especially for that length of time, but people are just going to suggest you the coins they are holding here. Why not just put your money in bitcoin as lets face it it's the only coin that is likely to go places.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Campaign to BOYCOTT BITCOIN! on: January 12, 2015, 03:40:04 PM

Bitcoin has become the cancer of cryptocurrency and holds back progress and surpresses the entire altcoin industry. It is a scam for early adopters and miners to get rich of YOUR money by hyping  it up to the point of telling people 10million$ for a coin would be realistic. This is a get rich quick mentality and often times misleading marketing (comparison to gold while it is inflationary more than fiat) and bitcoin looks very, very much like a ponzi right now.

Hard to tell whether you're trolling (I suspect you are) but the cancer of cryptos are altcoin scams and it's the adopters of these shitcoins and scamscoins that actually want to 'get rich off your money by hyping it up'. Actually come to think about it I think you're trying to be ironic here lol.
40  Economy / Services / Re: Can someone deliver 32 referrals for Mediafire on: December 28, 2014, 03:26:07 PM
Do you just need people to sign up for a free mediafire account or need them to buy a premium or something? If it;s free it shouldnt be too hard. How much will you pay?
