21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [START] StartCOIN 2.0 - The digital currency for crowdfunding on: September 06, 2015, 03:27:50 PM

Simon Dixon, Karl Gray and Max Keiser all working together to produce a rabbit out of the hat. Lots of potential movement here. I respect what Simon Dixon and BnkToTheFuture.com have to say on Startcoin. Like Karl and Max, Simon is upfront and accountable.

Simon has much valuable, professional experience working in the world of finance. He is the author of the widely acclaimed book: "Bank to the Future" - all about the future of finance. Richard Branson has spoken highly about him and BnkToTheFuture. Being based in China, Simon is right where he needs to be regarding the Chinese exchanges. I await developments with great interest.

24hr volume 10 BTC ? Whats going on here

August Bank Holiday in UK and Europe - People spending during the main holiday period in the Northern hemisphere - end of Summer sales bargains to be had on the High Street - Children going back to school for the new academic year - expense after expense. Hardly anybody will have money left for investments for the next couple of weeks. Most cryptos are feeling this pinch. Make of that what you will.  Smiley

Lots of big players around. Coherent price speculation is not for the amatuer anymore. I've made my play and I'm sticking to it. The price will either go up, or down. I'm not going to waste any time worrying about it, or be swayed by devious plays designed to shake out spooked investors.  Wink
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [START] StartCOIN 2.0 - The digital currency for crowdfunding on: August 17, 2015, 01:54:43 AM
Two reasons to be cheerful :  Wink

1)  a Tweet from Max Keiser ‏@maxkeiser Aug 12

"Keep your powder dry: next @StartHLDGS | @start_coin equity offer on @BankToTheFuture coming week of August 24th."

and 2)  the NEWSBTC article http://www.newsbtc.com/2015/08/16/startcoin-an-altcoin-for-crowdfunding-and-more/

"... Karl Gray, producer of the documentary “Life on Bitcoin” is leveraging upon StartCOIN to start a $20 million hedge fund called StartFund. StartFund is currently in the process of meeting regulatory requirements and soon we may see a whole ecosystem created around StartCOIN."
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin Hi-PoS hybrid pos/pow no premine/ipo/ico on: August 11, 2015, 09:31:11 PM
@ crazyivan

The difference is that Biomech was endorsing TEK above all other coins in the TEKcoin thread. You were making snide remarks about TEK in the TEKcoin thread, like the obnoxious troll that you are, while promoting your other coin with your banner arse-end.

I tell you what sunshine, let's continue this conversation in the Diamond coin thread.

_______________________________________________________________________________ _____
TEKcoin: mint up to 40% interest on your TEKcoin balance after every 30+ days
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin Hi-PoS hybrid pos/pow no premine/ipo/ico on: August 11, 2015, 07:12:23 PM
Wow, what a dump. I see PoS diff very low recently, that must be the reason. What I don't understand is the fact PoS diff does not go up after so many stakes. Tek has not had 40% stake a long, long time ago.
The only thing I dislike with Tek is unlimited number of coins, this is very unusual in Crypto. Maybe the dev can look at this to change in one of future forks.

Ivan , what is your problem with Tek? You wouldnt like it if one of the devs from Tek came into the dmd thread and started to FUD. I am a holder of both DMD and Tek, so please stop the FUD here. Tek is a great coin as DMD is. If you dont like Tek, thats fine, keep it to yourself. Tek is a brilliant coin with an honest dev and an honest community as dmd is. If your looking to fud, go fud all those crap new scam coins out there, there are lots. Dont hurt a respected mature coin like tek. Thank you.

Vegas

I have no problem with TEK. Pls let us not go into that discussion again since I also hold both coins and neither of them looks great ATM.
I was not spreading any FUD, I just posted facts.

@ crazyivan

You horrible little toad-troll. You come in to this thread with your faint praise, peddling your piddling FUD. You consistently leave a gripe, while touting your loud diamond coin logo out of your tail-end. Don't you know that's bad manners?

Everyone's on to you, you creep.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [START] StartCOIN 2.0 - The digital currency for crowdfunding on: July 10, 2015, 12:56:13 PM
Some good general advice I saw in the Litecoin thread dating back to 2011. It was pertinent then and I regard it more so in this thread over the past months:

@Coblee

Ignore the idiots, they will ask questions they know the answer to just to hijack thread and bloat it with BS.

Startcoin is a reality and a coin about to come of age. There is so much infrastructure built around Startcoin and so much backing that it is understandable that there are those who would try to hold it back.

Any advice  Cheesy

Yes. I've got some advice for you. You were totally wrong about your last chart prediction when you intimated the price would fall to 15k. Here's what you posted:

Up again or down to 15k Roll Eyes

The price did the opposite and shot up significantly. Here is the current full chart:

This shows a completely different picture.

By the way, your previous image was saved by you as "https://i.imgur.com/PNvafuD.png" (I note the FuD part of your saved image reference).

So my advice to you is to vacate this thread and take all your FUDster buddies with you.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: July 09, 2015, 10:56:51 AM
Congratulations to all genuine holders on the resurgence of Litecoin. For me is was unexpected. Some might find that the current valuation at $7.63 is unprecedented, but am I right in remembering that it was was once at $20.00+?

I sold all my Litecoin for Bitcoin and now have interests in others coins that have also performed well. However, I've always been well-disposed towards Litecoin and have found it to be fast and reliable. You now are bound to get some subtle detractors with hidden agendas. As an antidote to any FUD spreading in this thread I'd like to quote this very early post from 2011, which put it quite bluntly:

@Coblee

Ignore the idiots, they will ask questions they know the answer to just to hijack thread and bloat it with BS. Litecoin sounds like a plan.

I would second that.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [START] StartCOIN 2.0 - The digital currency for crowdfunding on: July 08, 2015, 05:56:55 PM
FUD happens when legitimate questions are ignored and brushed aside.
Why don't we see Max here standing up for his cryptofiat shitcoin ?

lol. you're the last person who deserve to criticize any altcoin.
@unusualfacts30
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=31553

After looking up your reference for HippieTech's rating as being one of the most untrusted, scam-artist trolls on the internet with a long history of previous, I have to say that is a remarkable one line answer to his post that I couldn't have put any better. I'm not worried about HippieTech. He's obvious. It's the ones who are not so obvious that we have to watch out for.

I wonder what the legimate questions are that he thinks have been ignored and have not been already answered in this thread? Incidentally, he doesn't seem to be aware that Max Keiser does stand up for Startcoin, as most people know, on his Twitter account, on his TV programme and on the Startcoin web pages for instance.

https://twitter.com/maxkeiser

This thread and the threads of other legitimate coins (e.g. Dogecoin) are infested with trolls with hidden agendas. You can understand why those coins have chosen to impart their core information elsewhere. Along with the price rise, I expect more trolls to pop up now, with their unjustified, hate-filled messages.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [START] StartCOIN 2.0 - The digital currency for crowdfunding on: July 08, 2015, 12:37:21 PM
bitchez be trippin just cuz they sold all their coins...and now its to expensive to come back  Cool
I agree with you to a certain extent, but too expensive?! My personal view is that with the backing and infrastructure that Startcoin has, ATMs plus Android Smartphone capability making it easier to transact person-to-person, person-to-business etc. etc., that it should be in a top 4 coin position on Coinmarketcap.com  Wink

Startcoin could be ideal an ideal alternative currency to barter with to pay for goods and services in Greece for instance, where the banks were supposed to have re-opened yesterday, but now won't be open till 'at least' Thursday. It is reported that when the banks do re-open, they will run out of money within two days.

http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/06/news/economy/greece-banks-holiday-extension/

http://uk.businessinsider.com/greek-banks-could-run-out-of-cash-in-next-2-days-2015-7?r=US

I've said it before, but I believe that a Startcoin valued at $1.00+ is about to emerge sooner, rather than later. That would put it into the Top 4, which is something that other similarly placed coins must fear.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [START] StartCOIN 2.0 - The digital currency for crowdfunding on: July 08, 2015, 11:13:10 AM
What's happened on twitter?   Shocked everyone says, it's scam with #startcoin hashtag

some people hashtagging btc as scam too. don't believe everything u see on twitter

There you go. As soon as the Startcoin price rises trolls from other coins notice, become intimidated and start spreading FUD. Predictable and pathethic.

"Triple-stakeholder model will keep StartCOIN on upward trajectory: coin-holders, crowdfunders and SCH shareholders all have stakes in seeing coin higher and each has means to do so."

My, my ... I seem to have touched a raw nerve and outed someone with a deep interest in Dash. Some would consider that Startcoin is Dash's main threat. You replied very quickly. You assume too much. I hold quite a few coins and don't hate any, although I do admit to disliking what Dash (Darkcoin) did to Dashcoin. Underhand, just like trolling. I note the fanboy putdown. I've obviously ruffled your feathers.

Oh boy...you did not "out" anything, I told you I like Dash...I only assume that you are not very well informed and you outed yourself as such with your unneccessary and uninformed verbal attack on Dash which you somehow try to paint as "sticking to START".
Again, I am hear to learn about START, as I am invested in START (as well as in Dash, but again, that is completely off topic).
My "feathers" are quite fine, thank you.

Now - again - let`s get back to START?

We have never left Startcoin and the topic is trolling - this was brought up by another poster in this thread recently. Trolling really gets my goat, especially when it is systematic and organised.

Far too often in this thread, good news is quickly buried and lost by those who pop up with a flurry of insulting, or banal/deflective posts - and those damning with faint praise.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [START] StartCOIN 2.0 - The digital currency for crowdfunding on: July 06, 2015, 10:08:42 PM
That's compound interest every 7 days. Still it's infinitely higher than you would get from most other coins e.g. those total anonymous coins like Dash for instance, formerly known as a Darkcoin - you know, the underhand coin who 'stole' Dashcoin's name - the one whose pages are like a cesspool of sock-puppetry - the ones who troll the pages of rival coins with posts designed to undermine.

Well the days of total anonymity coins like Dash are numbered. They and the exchanges that they are on are in danger of being closed down by the NSA and their owners thrown in jail for knowingly facilitating money laundering, criminal activity and terrorism. Not to mention all their coins confiscated. Look what happened to Charlie Shrem and his 'Silk Road'.

Wow. So much misinformation in one single post. Dash is no "total anonymity coin" to begin with, I`d like to see you crunch some numbers when comparing Masternode payments to START payouts, Dash did not steal anything and Charlie Shrem is not connected to Silk Road (I guess you meant Ross Ulbricht).

Let`s stick with START in this thread, shall we?

I am sticking with Startcoin. I believe this thread is currently infested with trolls. I believe I know where some of them are coming from. Dash's headline on their Bitcointalk thread is "First Anonymous Coin". You would seem to be misinformed on that count.

If you are going to quote me, please quote correctly. I used the word 'stole' in inverted commas. What actually happened was that a member of the Dashcoin community was paid off so that Darkcoin could use the Dash name. Other members of the Dashcoin community might agree with the word 'stole'.

I did mean Ross Ulbricht - other than that I felt my post was relevant and addressed some of the things I saw happening in this thread.

With Dash you can switch between anonymity and visible transaction, so no "total anonymity" and I know what happened with Dashcoin, it was the Dev who was paid off, so it seems fair, doesn`t it? Strange you did not mention the oh so popular DRK-instamine-meme...oh wait...with 50% premine...yeah, I understand why you didn`t...

Anyway, again...let`s stick with Startcoin, no need to attack other Alts when defending START (I haven`t seen any Dash supporters in this thread trolling START so far, if I do, I`ll be happy to stand by your side). I happen to like Dash AND Startcoin and some other Alts (and I never understood the strange partisan fanboy behavior according to which you seem to have to choose one Alt and hate the rest)...

... but not the country! I've seen this sort of thing happen before where one side insists that the real, uncorruptable threat be absent at any future meetings, so that they can perhaps try to work a flanker. I don't think that this tactic will do them any good. He will still be there in the background. As others have recently Tweeted, "Mission Accomplished." https://twitter.com/hashtag/MissionAccomplished?src=hash

"The superhuman effort to honour the brave people of Greece, and the famous OXI (NO)
that they granted to democrats the world over, is just beginning."  (Yanis Varoufakis)

He can now come out and say what he really wants to say without being bound by any ministerial restrictions.  Incidentally, he was elected to the Greek Parliament with the highest number of votes.  Wink

Just because Varoufakis may have appeared in Max Keisers' show, why on earth do you think that "connection" has any value for bitcoin let alone startcoin?

Have you actually read any of the stuff Varoufakis wrote and said about Bitcoin?

"The Crash of 2008 has infused our societies with enormous scepticism on the role of the authorities, both government and Central Banks. It is quite natural that many dream of a currency that politicians, bankers and central bankers cannot manipulate; a currency of the people by the people for the people. Bitcoin has emerged as the great white hope of something of the sort. Alas, the hope it brings to many people’s hearts and minds is false."

(...)

"In brief, while apolitical money is a dangerous illusion, a Central Bank that is democratically controlled (as opposed to the indefensible notion of an ‘independent’ Central Bank) remains our best hope for a form of money that is for the people and by the people. Bitcoin, despite its many interesting features, can never be that."

http://yanisvaroufakis.eu/2013/04/22/bitcoin-and-the-dangerous-fantasy-of-apolitical-money/

To very quickly answer your question in the very short time I have available - Yanis Varoufakis is crypto-currency aware. That can only be helpful.  Smiley

First, Yanis was talking about Bitcoin in the context of it being the basis for a national currency ... "there can be no de-politicised currency capable of ‘powering’ an advanced, industrial society." Some time ago, it had been suggested that Bitcoin could be that, not only for Greece, but also for Scotland if it had voted for independence in its referendum. If Bitcoin could be controlled by a democratically elected central bank, it would be perfect - but intrinsically, Bitcoin is by its very nature, is decentralised. However, he doesn't argue against Bitcoin being a hedge, like gold, or silver.

Secondly, Yanis identifies two fundamental flaws with Bitcoin - again as the basis for a national currency:

Roughly stated: the first revolves around security and the Bitcoin 'elite' who could manpulate the coin. I would also throw in any person, or group who could commit a so-called 51% attack.

The second, revolves around the deflationary aspect of Bitcoin, scarcity value - it being modelled on gold, volatility e.g. speculators who can affect price stabilty, the fact that most Bitcoins have already been minted at a time when goods and services were virtually non-existent - with new goods and services having to compete for a finite supply of Bitcoins etc. etc.

Startcoin, on the other hand, has been 50% pre-mined. This bolsters security and helps prevent a 51% attack - something that Maxcoin was very vulnerable to at times, as are most other alt-coins. It seems that Max has learnt from this experience.

As far as elites are concerned, when the price has risen fast, there have been free give-aways to aid distribution far and wide. Of the 50% pre-mine, 90% is to be donated to projects and active users of StartJOIN - much evidence of that will be seen this week. There are also bounties offered for porting existing technologies to StartCOIN.There have been concerted efforts to get Startcoin into commercial use, ATMs etc.

In short, Yanis was talking about Bitcoin in the context of being the basis solely of a national currency e.g. if Greece had to abandon the Euro. To my knowledge, neither Bitcoin, nor Startcoin, have ever claimed to be the basis for a national currency. I'm sure that, as alternative back-up currencies, or hedges, Yanis would agree that Bitcoin and Startcoin are just fine.

Besides the reservations he has about Bitcoin that you outline, he also used complimentary words to describe Bitcoin: a "brilliant algorithm" ... "that made something remarkable possible" ... and that it has "many interesting features."

It could also be argued that Startcoin is closer to Yanis's ideal than Bitcoin, based on security and distribution considerations.

Now that he has resigned as Greece's Finance Minister, I hope to see Yanis Varoufakis back regularly on the Keiser Report TV programme.   Wink
