21  Other / Off-topic / Re: Smoking on: July 18, 2022, 11:29:30 AM
Smoking is dangerous to the health because of the chemical content of the smoke been received into he body. Even the manufacturing companies of tobacco sticks wrote it boldy on the package that it is dangerous.
But what can we say if not that it is a choice of life since life is a choice. One man's food is another man poison. Smokers know too well that smoking is dangerous to the health but they all have a reason why they smoke. All we need to do is not to give up on them, keep educating them with time they will understand. But if the choose not to understand my dear leave them.

Free time is very valuable to me coz I use such period of time to rest my head by having a nap to relax my brain and nerves
24  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Teachers deserve more on: July 18, 2022, 08:15:27 AM
touchy subject

kindergarten/playschool:
teachers usually are just there as babysitters. giving kids a paintbrush or a ball to play with while parents work.
some do however go the extra mile to inspire and teach. but broadly its a babysitting gig.
its a little hard to gauge which Kindergarten teacher has gone the extra mile. unless their was a 'parent survey' teacher review system to rate teachers based on toddlers behaviour.
..

k-12/primary school:
classes teach the basic things society need to get on day to day. reading, calculating. learning a bit about history and how things work. which is pivotal for making the difference of the success of a kid in later life. this needs to be rewarded to ensure all kids get a good first step into eduction and life. by this i mean rewarded based on a % based on the success of all kids in the class meeting basic thresholds.
many schools/education systems dont have diploma's or exams, where kids move on to secondary/highschool even if they have not learned how to read or write where by 'graduating' is based on age not skill.

kids should not be held back from their peers by keeping them in k-12 until they pass an exam. but k-12 teachers should not get a bonus if half the class cant read when the kids age-out of k-12.

..

highschool/secondary school:
teach kids many things. but sometimes useless things that are never used in the real life, taking time away from things that might be used in the real world.. like wasting weeks on trigonometry, but not taking a day to learn about how banks 'print money' using the scam deception of credit cards and mortgages. i think keeps should learn about responsible 'lending'/using credit. more so than trigonometry.

teacher should be more rewarded for teaching life skills and things that are needed. not rewarded for following a national curriculum plan
..

universities/colleges:
each student pays on average $£10k+ a year and a class is like 30+students strong, some 100 per class. meaning the professors are paid many hundreds of thousands.. by which the quality and depth of detail of those classes should reflect over $300k of professors teaching.
many university professors just turn up, write a title on a chalk board, and ask their students to do their own research on the topic. something not worthy of $300k a year

..
im not saying dont reward teachers for what they are doing now. im saying add in some incentive for teachers to go the extra mile. and reward that with extra reward
This is the fact. Teacher are and were in everyone's life right from the tender age. Even in the life of the so called presidents, legislatures, senators, and all these prominent men and women. They deserve more, they deserve a good and encouraging pay, deserved to be rewarded every now and then not " your reward is in heaven" kind of pay.
25  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to forget her? on: April 07, 2022, 07:57:42 PM
Before knowing how to forget her, who is the "her". We all know that her is used to address a female gender.  The her can be ur mother, aunt, sister, cousin, niece or a girlfriend. Forgetting her might also be for a reason. Do well to think through before taking the action. When u are done make up ur mind not to bother yourself with thought that relates to her. But the little secret is that things about her will always crip into the heart at the early stage but with time, it will wipe of. By then you have forgotten her.

29  Economy / Economics / Economic consequences of Russian-Ukraine War on: April 07, 2022, 10:37:22 AM
The ongoing war between the two countries will possess a great consequences on the their economic activities and will have great effect on the global society. Russia-Ukraine war has been seen to be dramatic and rapid, but its global economic consequences will be much slower to materialize and less spectacular time. The Economist intelligence Unit (EIU) clearly analyzed that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine will affect the global economy via three main channels: financial sanctions, commodities prices and supply-chain disruptions.
Quote
The main impact of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on the global economy will come from a sharp rise in commodities prices and supply-chain disruptions.
Oil prices will remain above US$100/barrel as long as the conflict in Ukraine continues—probably for several months at least. Gas prices will rocket, and prices of agricultural commodities and base metals will also rise.
Sanctions, airspace bans and security concerns will add to pandemic-related supply-chain difficulties, further disrupting trade routes. Land, sea and air routes through Russia will be particularly disrupted.
The rise in commodities prices will fuel global inflation, which will surpass 6% this year. Despite risks to global growth, we do not expect the big central banks to significantly change course on monetary tightening.
Most of the economic impact of sanctions will be felt in Russia, but we have also revised our projections for European countries. Global growth will take a hit; it will stand at 3.4% in 2022, down from our previous forecast of 3.9%.
what other economic consequences do you think this war can have on the global economy.

30  Other / Politics & Society / Considering the Social consequences of Russia-Ukraine war on: April 07, 2022, 09:56:15 AM
There are so many consequences of the ongoing war in Ukraine which one of it is Proliferation of Weapons.
This means the growth or multiplication of weapons which include conventional armaments such as military-type guns, bombs, and missiles, and the more lethal weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), which are based on nuclear, chemical, and biological technologies. The situation in Ukraine lays bare inherent danger in the fact that many states still possess weapons of mass destruction and the risk of nuclear weapons being deployed is greater than ever and their use would by definition be catastrophic for civilians with the high number of victims, the destruction of infrastructure; hazards caused by radiation and any assistance following a nuclear explosion would be impossible. Also the environmental consequences would also be enormous, as contaminated land would be unusable.
It is a saddening fact that the potential consequences can already be seen in Ukraine itself, as the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power station in 1986 released radiation on a scale that continues to be a public health hazard to this very day.
The proliferation of weapons in Ukraine which is seen as a necessary measure for self defense can also lead to the expansion of illicit weapon trafficking network. This was also seen during Ukraine struggled with diversion before the Russian invasion as civilians and soldiers alike were funneling weapons into an expansive illicit weapons trafficking network.
Quote
A Small Arms Survey briefing on illicit arms flows in 2017, for example, found that, of the more than 300,000 small arms that disappeared from Ukraine from 2013 to 2015, only about 13 percent were ever recovered.
Also the diversion of military-grade weapons is seen as a profitable business in Ukraine. Theft and diversion of these weapons are not confined to small arms or civilian thieves only but also to the soldiers also.
Also in 2019, for example, two Ukrainian soldiers attempted to sell 40 RGD-5 grenades, 15 RPG-22 rockets, and 2,454 firearms cartridges for a mere 75,000 Ukrainian hryvnia (approximately $2,900). In 2020, a rocket launcher was found in a dumpster in Zhytomyr. That same year, in Odessa, the Security Service of Ukraine discovered 18 RGD-5 grenades, 12 F-1 grenades, and 2 anti-tank mines in a nearby power facility that a service member had stolen from a military base. The servicemen sold at least two grenades before his arrest.
What other social consequences do you think this invasion or war might cause.

31  Other / Off-topic / Etiquette, so simple but sometimes not practiced often. on: April 07, 2022, 09:10:56 AM
Etiquette only means acceptable behaviours that distinguishes we human beings from animals. it involves formal manners and rules which are followed in social and professional setting.
Etiquette makes one a cultured individual who leaves his mark wherever he or she goes as it guides an individual who is considered responsible on how to behave in the society. Etiquette teaches us the way we should talk, address people, walk, eat and and most importantly how to behaviours wherever we find ourselves but most of us have abandoned and ignored the etiquette rules thinking it is not of benefit not knowing that it is very essential for an everlasting first impression.  some examples of etiquette are:
1. Saying thank you as a way showing your appreciation for a kind deed.
2. Offering compliments by being generous with your words of appreciation and praise when required.
3. Having Self-control by not being too loud, not boasting about the things you have or your accomplishments as arrogance is considered an undesirable trait.
4. Becoming a active listener and not interrupting anyone while speaking, as it is considered bad manners.
5. Paying attention to your words as they are considered a strong tool in building and destroying relationships and not complain or criticize or participate in gossip as it is disrespectful.
5. Being punctual at all occasions at all costs.
6. Maintaining eye contact during conversations as it establishes a level of trust and understanding.
7. Standing during an introduction as a form of acknowledgment.
8. Offering your seat an older adult or someone pregnant or in poor health.
9. Holding doors if you see someone struggling with the door.
10. Pay your share if you are going out in a group so that you will be invited again.
11. When you use the rest room make sure you leave it clean and tidy for the next person.
12. When speaking to someone on phone never put the person on long hold and make sure you greet the other person.
13. Maintain decorum while eating in public. Do not leave the table unless and until everyone has finished eating.

There are many more. Which one do u practice as human being who is different from animals.

Sex is good and enjoyable and it is possible for a man to live without sex if he do away with things that leads the mind to think of such . This include avoiding watching of porns as most men I have come across love this so much and always have them stored up in their phones.
33  Economy / Economics / Re: Who gain's from War ? on: March 22, 2022, 05:03:36 PM
Most war fought by countries are just to take control of another country's wealth just for an economic gain which could come in form of money or resources. It is not the journalists alone that gains or make money from war,  the government also do.
An examples of war that was fought as to make money (economic gain) was Anglo-Indian Wars in 1766-1849.
Quote
Anglo-Indian Wars (1766-1849) – The Anglo-Indian wars were a series of wars fought between the British East India Company and different Indian states. These wars led to the establishment of British colonial rule in India, which gave Britain unrestricted access to exotic and valuable resources native to the Indian continent.
As you can see the gain was made by the government not the journalist. When these valuable resources are traded or utilized, the country get money and become wealthy.

36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Joe Biden's Crypto Executive Order is a Historic Good News for Bitcoin. on: March 12, 2022, 09:35:29 AM
President Joe Biden executive order to assess the risks and benefits of creating a central bank digital dollar, as well as other cryptocurrency issues calmed market fears about an immediate regulatory crackdown on cryptocurrencies. But we should have in mind that the order will require the US Treasury Department, the Commerce Department, and other key agencies to prepare reports on this as well as on the role cryptocurrencies will play since they were instructed to assess its risks and benefits.
Lets pray and have hope that their assessment will have a positive and beneficial result for us who loves cypto.
37  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: March 12, 2022, 08:39:52 AM
Regulation of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies

I am taking this as fun to know people's opinion about cryptocurrencies in Nigeria, weather it should be regulated or not. CBN do not look for ways to make the government to benefit from crypto transactions by regulating it, instead, they just like to follow China and come up with anti-bitcoin criticism which is not exceptional in fiat as fiat are mostly used in illegal activities out of all the money existing today.

If cryptocurrencies are regulated, the government may draw out means of tax deduction which all the centralized cryptocurrency exchanges will have no option than to comply with, it can even get to the extent of Nigeria demanding for each exchanges to have a branch in Nigeria in a way the government will look for more ways for the exchanges to have no option than to comply.

Cryptocurrencies are not regulated in Nigria, the CBN banned crypto transactions which is deemed and actually an implicit ban. The government are not benefiting from crypto tax and we Nigerians see that as a benefit. But, if we check the other side, the CBN ban had gone far to the extent that make some Nigerians not to make use of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, there could have been many rise of crypto organizations in Nigeria, there could have more crypto industry development in Nigeria which can be impactful to our economy, but the ban is making all these progress not possible.

With the pros and cons of crypto regulation, will you go for the government to totally be friendly with cryptocurrencies so that it will later be regulated or you are fine with this recent implicit ban?
Even though CBN banned crypo transactions in Nigeria, the transactions are still ongoing even with the leaders of the country taking the lead in such transactions. they claimed it is banned yet advert for learning and trading of crypo is seen in all hook and cranny of the country without been checkmated and the advertizer prosecuted.
For me I think our government have to go back to understand what cryptocurrencies actually are which are virtual currencies that can be exchanged online to purchase goods and services, and the value of legal tender currencies does not determine the value. They also need to understand and have it in mind that there is a lot of innovation in the world today which cryptocurrency is part of it and become totally friendly with it.
38  Economy / Economics / Re: Your opinion on side jobs on: March 09, 2022, 04:26:20 PM
Yes it is still qualified to be called a side job. I think so because it is an additional employment outside one's full-time job that provides supplemental income. Side jobs are normally completed outside of one’s day job, and therefore may take place during evenings, on weekends, or during vacation breaks. It offers one the flexibility to complete work outside of the traditional hours, provides an outlet to explore passions and as well test ideas. No matter how huge its appreciation and income is, it is still a side job.
39  Economy / Economics / Re: War requires three things on: March 08, 2022, 11:28:18 PM
Putin intend to make the war of aggression against Ukraine be eventually profitable by destabilizing and frighten Ukraine via collapsing their economy and making democracy to fail
Quote
He wants to destabilize Ukraine, frighten Ukraine. He wants Ukrainian democracy to fail. He wants the Ukrainian economy to collapse. He wants foreign investors to flee. He wants his neighbors—in Belarus, Kazakhstan, even Poland and Hungary—to doubt whether democracy will ever be viable, in the longer term, in their countries too. Farther abroad, he wants to put so much strain on Western and democratic institutions, especially the European Union and NATO, that they break up.
These are the benefits he thought he will gain from the aggression of war. But lets see the end result and if he will surely get his intended profits.

Mental health is very important to keep in check as it ranks 3rd top health problem of 21st century youths and adolescents. it is very important at very stage of life from childhood to adulthood because it affects how we think, feel and act. Mental health takes account of our emotional, psychological and social well being and helps us to determine how we handle stress, relate with people and make healthy choices.

For example, working on the forum for long hours creating posts and trying to grow, caring for a relative, or experiencing economic hardship etc  may trigger poor mental health.

what do you think we can do to keep our mental health in check so as to remain healthy?
