21  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing the FutureBit Apollo BTC - A Full Node/Mining Platform for the Home! on: May 01, 2022, 07:53:59 AM
Mine arrived yesterday Cheesy

The most quiet/efficient/cheap? miner I've used so far. I've tried the 3 "default" modes and i'm pretty sure I saw more than 3.5TH on "Turbo" mode, fantastic Cheesy And with a rasp pi and all the cables hidden behind it's like a tiny cube in my room.

Edit: Quick question. I'm using the 'official' 200w psu. In the sh it says to put the power value at 75 max with this psu.

How much TH would be with 100? Which psu should I use for that? (I mean I could use the corsair sf450 but im pretty sure that 450W 80+ would be overkill)

It will vary from device to device a bit but I'm getting 1.3TH/s with 30% of the power (even lower than ECO).

If you use a PSU with a higher rating it will run its fan slower so you will get it even quieter than the official PSU, which now generates most of the noise in my setup. I'm waiting for a new, more quiet PSU to replace it to get an almost completely silent mining setup. This device is awesome for home mining.

Thats awesome dude, about replacing the official psu, any 80+ 400-700w would be more than enough yup, but how will u tunning the parameters? The % power (up to 100%) and the second one?

Hello there, dont know if this is the right place, but since I've managed to get a futurebit apollo, I think I'm going to sell my compac F (and also I can get rid of usb hub etc, just the pod miner with my rasp Cheesy )

any chance you have a gekkoscience hub?

Nope, i've tried a few hubs and the closest one to 2.4A was the amazonbasics, with this i've managed to get 160-170GH

I saw the "right" hub in bitcoinmerch i think, but it said it does not ship to my country (spain)

Hello there, I'm considering getting one of this, but all the full kits are out of stock.

Lets say I buy the pod miner with the PSU.

Could I use it with a raspberry and do solo mining to ckpool like a gekko f.ex?

Ninja edit: Also if you know webs with stock for the full kit let me know, all I can find is bitshopper.de but its for preordering, dont know when it will ship

@n0nce that was me getting lucky on CkPool with 9 Compaq F's.

I wasn't using the bitcoinmerch USB hub though and honestly it looks to be a rebranded SiPolar hub. I have a few of the SiPolar and trust me they won't get it done!

I am still using ICONE 10 Port USB 2.0 120Watt Hubs. They are impossible to find at this point but these can supply up to 3A to 3 USB ports without any issues.

The ones I use look like this: (Notice the different fan vents when finding these. If they are sold with a different fan vent then they are the same crap as the SiPolar)

I know! Wink That's why I linked your post. Thanks for the clarification; it's very good to know that you've already compared ICONE vs SiPolar. The SiPolar / Bitcoinmerch do look very similar to your hubs, but the vent is giving it away, indeed. Had not noticed that.

This means, for the record, confirmed working is for now only ICONE 10 Port USB 2.0 120Watt Hub and GekkoScience USB Hub.

I don't know if anyone tried that yet with a Compac F. I am pretty sure that it will provide a maximum of 2.4A, which might honestly be enough. But it certainly won't output 3A, since even the advertising only speaks about 2.4Amps.

Shouldnt be enough 2.4A to at least do some OC right?

The thing is, I can not find a 3A usb Sad (On stock you know)

So which usb hub should I buy?

I've tried with the AmazonBasics one, a sabrent.

This is the next I'm going to try:

Today I've received both the fand and ammeter.

Dude, such a big difference the fan, the gekko now is cold like ice.

On the other side, the amazonbasics 65W hub def is not delivering 2.4A, just 1.5-1.7A, so I think I will look for other options.

Still I managed to see my compac f at 310GH/s Cheesy

Oh, thank you for your replies Smiley

My hub delivers up to 2.4A, so yup, definitely its gonna be the lack of fan, I will wait and use with it before touching the screws

Also gonna order one of this ammeter just to double-check

Thanks again Smiley

I ordered a gekko fan upgrade, I don't have it yet, but I though this was only for overclocking. In fact, if these fans are not official, how the hell people were using this without them? xD

Got a hub yes, it's a 65W 3.0 from Amazon.

And I'm launching it with the folloring:

Code:
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://de.ckpool.org:3333 -u <user> -p x --gekko-compacf-detect --gekko-compacf-freq 200

Still I don't know what I'm doing wrong in order to use it 'vanilla' or how should I set the frequency in order to make it work at least 5 min Sad

Did you say turning the screws, I mean like literally use a screw driver with the usb stick?

Hello there, got mine today, and I've followed the kanoi's instructions (first I'm trying in Windows before to moving on a rasp), anyways when I started to mining (default speed, no OC) it starts fine as far as i seem, but them it starts slowing the speed until 0. The device is hot (Dont know how much, lets say you can keep your fingers 1-2 seconds). And I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Hello there, so I'm gonna try to solo mining now with a little compac f. And I plan to have mine idk somewhere in the room, with a rasp pi zero. Is there any guide or steps?

Hello there, just want to confirm I'm doing it right

I know, its a ridiculous hashrate, its a 3070ti. I'm only trying to get into solo mining just for fun, you know the same way you spend money on euromillion or lottery.
