take the fan apart and clean it and lube it (i use 0-30 synthetic engine oil).if you have old fans laying around practice on them, take the sticker off, pull the plug, and there's a plastic clip that holds it together.

25  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Guiminer flags for 4830/5750? on: August 18, 2011, 05:55:31 PM
i just started playing around with an old 4830 i have laying around.i found the best is -v  -w128  -f1.i also found that underclocking the memory below 700  cuts the hash rate.At 750/700 i get 75 Mhash. The latest version of sapphire Trixx works with the 4830

I'm amazed.

Looking at these threads I can tell you who is really rubbing their hands about bitcoin...

XFX, Sapphire and ATI. Suddenly all their old 5xxx series GPUs are flying off the shelves!  Grin

I don't think so,i think bitcoin has hurt 6850 and 6870 sales.I think anyone buying 6950/6970 get them to mine with now but game with after bitcoin

it's hard to tell from the pictures, but are the x16 extenders double or single ribbon?
is there such thing as single ribbon since pci-e is double sided?

i've seen pictures here of a burned extender cable and it looked like a single cable

39  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is 70ºC a good temp for 2x 5830 @ 975/325?? on: July 25, 2011, 04:48:48 PM
70C is fine but for me it's to high,my 5830@1000 run high 50's low 60's.download gpu-z and see what your vrm's are at (gpu temp #2) they usually run 5-10C higher than the core
