21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: July 19, 2014, 02:34:56 PM
@agran is it possible to see in the block explorer the total amount of qora coins (whole community) that are being used to generate blocks.

It will be interesting to see the big difference as a result of V.13  Cheesy

Thanks for the faith!!!
Yeah I read all the posts in this topic, the ideas sound awesome, I hope everything is achivable as you imagine it! Would make the marketing much more easy :p

TwinWinNerD - chancecoin is number 21 in Bter coin voting: https://bter.com/voting
maybe you can do a small marketing campaign that will help with the votes.

We're working on a solution that still uses the Bitcoin blockchain, but has instant or near-instant bets.
Awesome!
any time estimate for this?
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CHA] Chancecoin, a coin for betting in a decentralized casino on: July 12, 2014, 04:55:42 PM
We've had some discussions regarding using another blockchains such as DOGE or NXT to speed up the betting process. This solution is actually much more cumbersome than it looks from a user experience standpoint. Many new users have to do the following:

1. Transfer BTC to an exchange, let's say poloniex
1. Buy DOGE/BTC on Poloniex
2. Transfer DOGE to the chancecoin app
3. Make bets using DOGE
4. Transfer DOGE back to Poloniex
5. Sell DOGE/BTC on Poloniex

@Devs - Is it possible to use Doge blockchain speed to confirm bets and still make bets using CHA?

-Primedice total bets is around 713,000,000 right now.
- Doge TX fee is 0.01 doge per transaction.
- If I will pay the doge fees (I can send the devs 7,130,000 doge) in-order that users wont need to buy doge in the exchange would that help?

@qora have you read "On Stake" by "Vitalik Buterin" ? (https://blog.ethereum.org/2014/07/05/stake/)
can you comment on POS problems Vitalik points out and how qora POS New Proof-of-Stake algorithm works?
have you managed to solve the "there is nothing at stake" problem?

Everything from the NXT and other PoS developers say that nothing at stake isn't really a problem. It is smoke an mirrors created by miners that see PoS as a threat the their hash power. After all, if you spent $100k on ASIC mining rigs and no new POW alt coins were introduced you are out of business.
There are several threads about this at nxt forum.

Vitalik has very good knowledge in crypto I think, thus the argument/article should be taken seriously.

also he is building a new coin and in the position to chose pow or pos - he has no reason to be "biased" / or create "smoke an mirrors".

It will still be nice if qora can comment on this.
qora does say he developed "New Proof-of-Stake algorithm" - maybe some key points regarding the new features/changes.
(we all ready know that you can split your stake to different addresses in your wallet and your chance of forging stays the same which is an improvement over nxt)

- Move to a faster blockchain.
 - Make our own faster blockchain.
 - Invent some new solution that lets gamblers resolve bets rapidly offline, like some kind of electronic choose your own adventure scratch card.
any of these options is better the current situation.
Make our own faster blockchain / Invent some new solution - sounds very interesting.

What about making a web-wallet like counterwallet? is that in your plans?
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CHA] Chancecoin, a coin for betting in a decentralized casino on: July 06, 2014, 01:30:22 PM
It still doesn't take away from the point that I am trying to make:

Incorporating BTC will bring about the reduction in demand for CHA which will directly affect price and growth. Concentrate on each of use and enhance the games, increase the odds of wining (like you did), provide awesome prizes to winners ...i offered 300 CHA somewhere...a donation for this can be setup.

Your point is important and I am sure the Devs will take it into account seriously.

I think it's hard to predict the outcome of such a move because it might bring new players to gamble with chancecoin wallet and exposure which is much needed at this point.
I am sure that afterwards we can find ways to incentivize the use of chancecoin over btc. (like reduce house edge for chancecoin and the ability to be the "gambler" and the "house" and probably more innovative ideas).

In my opinion I agree that the user experience (speed of bets etc) and flow (the process a new user has to go from the moment he hears about chancecoin until he start gambling) still needs a lot of work to get to were PrimeDice is, and because the Devs time is limited I think this should be given higher priority.

p.s: Ola its nice to see you here, I have a lot of respect to you and hope you will continue to be more active member in chancecoin community.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CHA] Chancecoin, a coin for betting in a decentralized casino on: July 06, 2014, 05:49:02 AM
I think its important to only use CHA as the only base currency...concentrate on making a fast, easily accesible interface and users will naturally acquire CHA to participate...diluting the demand for CHA by incorporating BTC is a mistake you are about to repeat already made by the Counterparty devs.  Look at their awesome innovation yet compare their market capitalization to Mastercoin's
This is actually a bad example because right now if you look at coinmarketcap Counterparty has bigger ROI than Mastercoin.

[You need to remember that mastercoin crowd sell was in July-Aug sending a total of about 5000 bitcoins worth about US$500,000 at the time. Counterparty burning bitcoins was in Jan-Feb 2014 and about 2,130 bitcoin worth about US$2,000,000 were burned.
Meaning that mastercoin started with more than X2 marketcap than counterparty.]

The next version has a fix so transactions will go through pretty much instantly. We'll work on transaction chaining as well. Alternative faster blockchains are still on the table.
great news!

If we set house edge to -2% and people wager 500,000 CHA for an expected house loss of 10,000 CHA, I'd call that a huge win for Chancecoin. The theoretical price should decrease by about 2%, but the price should really skyrocket after that kind of gambling volume.
I agree with the Devs on this - I like this creative thinking.

But truth be told I think something like this can have an impact on gambling volume but there is still more work to do on the user experience side.
Devs if you still haven't tried https://primedice.com/ please do so - It is important to check out our competition.
You will see the big difference in the speed of bets and flow.
Right now it is hard to bring new gamblers to chancecoin, its to much of a "hassle" for them.
Is it possible to have a chancecoin wallet like counterwallet (deterministic electrum wallet)?

One question is, would people be willing to provide much liquidity to such a decentralized order book.
Your innovating thinking and commitment to this project is admirable.

I would do anything in my power to help.
I can provide around 25,000 CHA as liquidity for the order book.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CHA] Chancecoin, a coin for betting in a decentralized casino on: July 05, 2014, 11:49:08 AM

Please help me Up-vote chancecoin!

The Devs are Awesome and doing their part to make chancecoin better we (the community) have to help with the marketing.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CHA] Chancecoin, a coin for betting in a decentralized casino on: July 03, 2014, 11:31:37 PM
- Speed of processing the bet. It seems the "processing bet.." text is here for 10-30 seconds, I am sure this could be improved?
agree that this should be improved.

I am getting a lot of: "Transaction timed out. Please try again." - is it because I don't have another Input available?
will you implement "chaining transactions"?

@Devs I still think that bets are confirmed too slow.
Please consider moving to a faster blockchain like doge/nxt.
to wait 10 min for the bet to be confirmed is a lot less fun than primedice instant betting.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FIMKrypto: NXT spinoff 30s blocks, POW-like rewards, national income *FIMK on: July 01, 2014, 11:00:15 PM
Will you reconsider not releasing the Source code on July 15?
(I think this is a big "threat" for FIMK investors) and will just lead to more FIMK clones.
I understand this concern but we are confident the FIMK organization, model and arrangements are so strong that any threat from possible clones for FIMK's success is minimal.

The source code is likely to be published earlier than July 15th.

# Membership in Organization
  • Anyone can apply for membership
  • Members enjoy privileges in community decision making process

Will you consider bringing this issue to a vote?
I don't think nxt would have grown to what it is today without waiting with the release of the source code.
It's good that you are confident but you can be wrong like anyone else.

@ Eliphaz Fimk

In my opinion you should wait at list 90 days before releasing the source code.

- Could we implement a "Input"-Splitting? Like an option, where you can decide if you want the client to split the inputs up into 0.005 parts or something like that. because if you only have one big input in your address, you can only make 1 bet every 2 blocks, little frustrating. Or maybe if you bet, the input used is split in 2-3 inputs if it is the only input available.
- Good idea. I'd say this is definitely on the upcoming list.

This is very important. I know that counterwallet has this function.
its worth to look at their source code.
