21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A person's browser history is a window into their online Identity. on: May 08, 2024, 11:59:43 PM
Op, great job you have done and this reminds me about people who do sell off their phones and other gadgets with having to format it completely riding it off every data from it system storage. People we sell our phone to could through our browser history unknown to us get in vital informations about us and they could use it for phishing scams against us and if we're unlucky we could end up losing money to them. And you be wondering how do this scammer got to know so much about me that he/she was able to get to me. Huh
22  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy BTC sold for 16 BTC-1 mil USD on: May 08, 2024, 11:29:42 PM
I ws just wandering if this Same piece of paper or that 1 SAT  Cool could be auction at $2M  in the next 2~3 years.... let's see who's gonna make it value increase or we could just call it manipulations Tongue
Its all a part of an investment risk just as any other investment you may know, the value go could peak high or get wasted low with years. All about these paper is that the source of it's value are the people and the people's view towards it is a veritable determinant in driving it's value. You could be shocked that the sign could worth beyond $2m in next 3yrs the next time it appears again on auction.

Manipulation too is another ploy used in giving value to some of these collections, they could just make it disappear from public for quite a long time and boom, one day they just showcase it into the market and you see a lot of hands bidding for it therefore topping it's value.
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 07, 2024, 08:02:28 PM
I think it’d be a great story if Dortmund got to the final but I have a feeling PSG will really go at them from the first minute tonight.

I think PSG will have too much for the Germans tonight but I am rooting for Dortmund.
The confidence at which Dortmund are playing tonight against PSG defiling the notion that the game is been played in Paris which should make PSG to have  dominated the game in the first 45mins played  but it's reverse from what were seeing. More of the pressing, and goal attempts are coming from the visitors.

I have the hunch that nothing out of the ordinary could happen if PSG fail to take dominant of the midfield to be able to control the game because that's one weak side of them in the first half, I hope they come back differently in the second half to win this game or else they get eliminated right in their own house.

24  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: May 07, 2024, 04:40:12 PM
Technically you should not be using emergency funds to buy dips.. but you can use reserve funds.  Yeah of course people call these things different things, but the idea of emergency funds is to have money to live and to pay for your expense if an actual emergency takes place or if you lose your income for some reason, you have a little bit of breathing space.

Reserve funds would be extra money, so you should never dip into your emergency funds for anything other than needing to live because you ran out of other money.
I think this has been discussed some months back. Money that is kept for an emergency is not to invest in bitcoin and if anyone wants to invest in Bitcoin then extra funds Shou be made available if only the person is really ready to invest. There are some banking apps that one can use to lock funds by weekly, monthly and yearly. The person can choose the plan he wants and I normally select two plans to lock my funds in weekly and monthly because I don't know when the dip would come and if it comes, and fall under the weekly plan then I would use it to buy the dip and I will wait for the monthly plan again and once it unlocked I would use the money to buy the dip again. So with that you don't have to spend your emergency funds again.

Now if you buy the dip with the emergency money and something happens within the week and you don't have extra money to solve the emergency need, you have to make a sale of the bitcoin investment you initiated in the week to solve the emergency and if the dip is below the purchase price of bitcoin then you are at the losing side of the investment because you did plan well for the investment. Always keep the emergency funds down the emergency purpose and not to buy the dip.

Emergency funds are not a part of your cashflow.  You seem to be talking about some kind of a float.  Emergency funds are something that you build up and then you likely never will have to touch.. ever..  they are usually something .like 3-6 months of your expenses, so if you lose your job or you get hit by a bus, but you are still living, you might have some expenses but unable to work for 3-6 months, but if you are managing your money well, you may well have other funds such as reserves and a float that you would use prior to even dipping into your emergency funds.

Let me use the example that I used from the other thread:

If you have an income that is around $1.6k to $3.8k per month, and most of the time you receive around $2,400, and you have expenses that are usually $1,800 to $2,200 per month, and most of the time the expenses are $2,000, then that is around $400 in disposable income, but surely it varies, so minimally you should likely be holding around $6,600 in cash to cover 3 months of your expenses.

yes you might have other money that is extra cash float or that you are holding in reserves for other purposes, maybe for buying on the dip or just for using when your income might be low.  You could spend 20-30 years or more never touching your emergency fund because if you have fluctuations in your cashflow, you would tap into your reserves and your float first, so hopefully you never get into a situation that you even need to touch your emergency fund.. because if you do, then shit is really hitting the fan at that point... and your situation has become more dire.. .. so in some sense if you are using your float and your reserves you can continue to buy BTC every week since buying BTC may well be a priority for anyone who is trying to build their stash... but whether they are able to build their BTC $50 per week or $100 per week or some other amount is going to vary on other ways that they are managing their cash, since it is good to be aggressive, but it is not good to put yourself into a situation that you don't have any money and you have to dip into your emergency fund.

another thing is that people who don't invest, might not even be in the practice of maintaining an emergency fund. ..and that might be part of the reason that they are poor and don't invest...because they are not managing their money well.. and so if someone is brand new to bitcoin and they do not have an emergency fund, they may well have to invest smaller amounts into BTC wheil they are building their emergency fund, and once the emergency fund gets up to 6 months then they can be more aggressive in their BTC investing.

Another mistake that poor people make is to use their investment (BTC in this case) as their emergency fund.. and yeah, they are going to have fun staying poor, because you should not have to dip into your BTC ever, except upon a time that you have already chosen based on criteria that you had already set.. whether that is 1-2 cycles down the road or reaching some level or whatever that criteria might be.
A lot of people don't know the importance of building and maintaining an emergency fund, reserves and a float when it comes to Bitcoin  investment, because without these things, ones financial stability is never ensured, especially for individuals with limited financial resources.
It'll be no different from using one's Bitcoin holdings as a form of trading or gambling because whenever an emergency arises, they'll always dip into their Holdings which will definitely lead to depletion of funds, rather than building it.

The availability of Emergency funds, reserves and float gives one a form or security whenever unexpected expenses, financial shock and emergencies surfaces. This approach makes sure that one's basic needs are met, thereby minimizing the possibilities of dipping into one's Investments.

In order for one's Bitcoin investment to grow significantly, there's need for one to always have a very solid financial foundation because the absence of a solid foundation would definitely lead to depletion of investment and could often hinder the potential for long-term financial success.

It's also worth noting that having an emergency fund, reserves and float is just as essential as the investment itself because without it, there wouldn't be any investment to start with, because surely, emergencies will occur and you'll always sort them out.

I agree with you that one should first exhaust his reserve's and float before dipping into the emergency fund, so is very important to have a reserve and a float funds it helps protect your investment and keep it going without tampering it.
With your reserve's, float and emergency funds no emergency can make you dip into your investment.
I do agree with what you all have said about making available a solid emergency funds, reserve and float. But the possibility of all of these be put in place depends very much on the size of the income of the investor. An investor with little size of income can't literally manage to keep into place all of these requirements strongly as dyke for his bitcoin investment.

Which is why my suggestion would be that as people invest in bitcoin they should always spread their reach for income source as to enlarge the size of your income to be capable to make room for emergency funds, reserve and float for a sure success to your bitcoin investment no matter the challenge that may arise.  For no matter how much big what you earn from a single source is, it is never enough reason to stay reliable on it, go for other means as multiple income source is also the secret to achieving a successful investment plan.
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do casinos require users to verify their identity through a KYC policy? on: May 06, 2024, 10:35:41 PM
I've read a lot of comments in this board stating that a user is required to undergo KYC if their account is suspected of cheating. Can anyone explain how it is necessary related to the subject? A detailed explanation would be better, but everyone's ideas are welcome, as I believe it's worth discussing so gamblers will not be misled regarding this matter, which pops up from time to time.
What sort of cheating do you mean, is about the gambler cheating in games or having multiple accounts with one casino? In the case of multiple to one casino surely KYC will be able to reveal because a single individual can't use same particulars to pass KYC in different accounts, he will be caught in the process. I think casinos'ask for KYC when certain account are suspected to be owned by one individual just so they can prevent against abuse of bonuses and other offers and their policy too
some people who have a different or a multiple account is people that always have issue for verification of account and the mainly they are the people who is cheating for any gambling platform because to verify the account they will find it very difficult so that is why request platform of Casino gambling or other gambling always request for kyc verification
Yes, most cheaters are the set of gamblers that do have issues with KYC verification as they feel it's going to be the end of the road for them with that gambling platform because of their cheat. On the contrary too, there are another set of persons that don't just get along with anything KYC and these are persona that priotize their privacy and they just intentionally try not to make use of their own actual particulars to pass the kyc at first when it was done, now a new request in the future for further verification clarification as a result of any act of suspicion on the side of the casino, it then places these person's in a hard corner which could lead to their loss of the account.
26  Economy / Exchanges / Re: what is wrong with Bybit? on: May 05, 2024, 09:53:59 PM
Recently, Bybit has been hosting scammers on their P2p platform and a lack of quality support has aided these unscrupulous beings. A mutual was scammed of $800+ dollars some days ago. Anyone facing same issues?
I haven't made use of bybit at anytime right now though I know about the exchange so can't say anything little or much about them. Nevertheless, there are laid procedures and principles to be followed when doing a p2p transaction in an exchange and sometimes newbie traders or reckless traders fail to abide by these principles and then turn around to blame the exchange they use for a mistake or fault of theirs. Example, when a trader send/approve a trade when he has not received and confirmed payment yet. Is that a fault of an exchange? Am not saying this is the case with your mutual but am just giving instance of certain case on how some traders lose their money in p2p trade.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regulations Not Working as Planned?? on: May 05, 2024, 09:07:59 PM

That BTC could work as a money system for the people and help people to devalue FIAT currency?
This misinterpretation you've just laid here is same misinterpreted notion the government has about bitcoin that is making them go after bitcoin and it users throwing all kinds of harsh policies on them. With that fear that bitcoin has come to replace fiat and therefore devalue it as though they were in competition. Bitcoin is only an alternative digital currency here to provide self custody of individual finance (privacy) to those who pick interest in it and in addendum proffering financial freedom. More interestingly, a lot of persons adopts bitcoin today as an hedge against inflation which fiat is peone to.  Nothing like helping people to devalue fiat.
28  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Changes I observed since we had a new moderator and what to take from it on: May 05, 2024, 01:27:17 PM
In my opinion your observation could have just been added to your first thread where you talked about snr experience members posting in the local board how supportive and improving it could be for newbies.

What you have just posted now as a new thread to me is just an observation of the results you're seeing regarding your previous thread and everything to me seems similar. So you could have just edited your first thread and add this there than creating something which is somewhat similar and a close repetition of your first thread.

Let say your first thread was a recommendation, now it would have made a much sense of it if you have edited and added your observation below.

30  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is going to happen with Bitcoin now? on: May 04, 2024, 10:31:57 PM
I have seen that after this Bitcoin halving, the price of Bitcoin has decreased a lot. As far as I know that after every halving the price of bitcoin increases exponentially and it increases about 3 to 4 times, but this time I saw that the price of bitcoin has decreased a lot after halving, but I have seen in several places that they say the price of bitcoin is halving. After that it will decrease a bit and then it will increase rapidly. As such, after checking the market today, I saw that After the fall in the price of Bitcoin, the price is slowly increasing again. Bitcoin price was below 57K three days ago and today Bitcoin price is $63,585.10. Does that mean we will see a Bitcoin bull market now? Or will it decrease again? What is your view on Bitcoin?
https://www.investopedia.com/articles/forex/121815/bitcoins-price-history.asp

Hey mate the bull run just doesn't immediately happen that way after the halving as you're thinking or as you were told by whosoever told you. I guess the person was wrong because it doesn't takes much interval of either months probably a year after year before the bull run to a new ATH. Check the image above about bitcoin halving history for more clarity. I hope that helps.
31  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Most P2P occured on WhatsApp, Telegram and everywhere on the streets on: May 04, 2024, 04:23:09 PM
The CEO in his assertions could be close to being correct in that interview because that $59b figures is just an official figure from official data as compiled. I alone have conducted many p2p trades just this year with colleagues around using my noncustodial wallet address in all of those trades with them, although there are certain persons I do reject the offer and ask to try other means or persons because I don't feel comfortable about doing any transactions with them.

So imagine many other thousands of people in other places that are running a direct p2p trades on daily basis without using a CEX, if those figures are included to the official figures as gotten it probably amounts to half a billion dollars or more.

If the Nigeria government is wise they could take advantage of cryptocurrency operations in the country create a working policy that is crypto friendly and rake profits from it as taxes than act villain as though cryptocurrency is the main cause of the naira devaluation when we have insecurity, high cost of living/production and dilapidation of infrastructures bashing on the economy which they haven't made any significant success in tackling any of those intrinsic factors but bothering themselves on the extrinsic that can be put under control by the tackling of the intrinsic problems.
32  Economy / Speculation / Re: Now is the best time to buy the dip and HODL on: May 03, 2024, 11:07:59 PM

Btc price has dip below 60k, and most investors who may be wondering when best to buy the dip I think now is the time to buy the dip. it may not dip below this anymore. I know it fell to $56k but I urge people to buy more now before it rise again.
Sometimes I feel this dip of a thing with bitcoin investment is subjective and depends on the investor's understanding of what the mean and at what condition in time.

To some investors their mind might be set upon watching out in expectation waiting to a more price fall to 50k from which they could start considering as the actual dip for them, while to some others even the 62k price that bitcoin has risen up to from 57k as it were is still a dip for them. Bitcoin price could have gone more below 56k and yet there will still be investors that will have a different perspective about it been the dip.

I think if as investors we keep watching out on buying only at a the dip then there are investors who will never buy bitcoin or add to their portfolio which is why as a long term investor waiting to buy only when the price dips shouldn't be our only priority but rather buying regularly as at when conducive because the plan isn't for short but long. Only short term investors concentrate much on the dip before buying because their time is short and they want to make do with whatever profit they can grab at all cost.
33  Economy / Economics / Re: Starting a business without capital. on: May 03, 2024, 10:15:54 PM
Is very possible starting up a business without capital all you need is your ability of pursuing success.
Affiliate marketing is a business you can venture into without capital and still make good money from it, even more than some businesses started with capital.
Affiliate marketing is the process by which a person earns a commission for marketing another person's products.
All you need to start this business is good communication skill in other to sell the product of the other person and get a commission for doing that.
You can decide to market product of different company or person's at same time by doing this you are sure that everyday someone will buy from one of those product's there by making money every day.
When you become an expert in affiliate marketing you will start making profit every day of your life.
You make affiliate marketing sound so easy a d simple to go with because a newbie reading this op that's the perspective they will have about affiliate marketing not until they go into it and see the challenges there embedded. You fail to emphasize about the importance of growing a community which is what affiliate marketer success lies on, and this community takes time to build and you'll have to gain their attention and trust. In doing all of these you will need preferably a phone at least, burning of data,  and this requires financial capital to keep rolling even when the community has not been made.

And you don't just wake up one morning to become an affiliate marketer, you will have to undergo some training to have good communication skills about what you do in order to be able to attract audience within a competitive market. All of these demands capital to get enrolled into a training, right?
34  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: stake.com Neglecting Gambling Addiction Protection, Lack of Fund Source on: May 03, 2024, 09:53:34 PM
This is interesting to hear but the truth of the matter is that stake as a company is profit oriented and anything that they will do to stop their profit from coming is what they will not do. So if you have addiction problem just look for a way and get a therapist to talk to you and give you tips on how you can get out of gambling with out control am not saying gambling is bad but when doing that you should do it responsibly and you must have a boundary or red line that you set for your self not to cross
What I understand about a whole lot of gamblers which I feel embarrassing about but don't tell them is that they fail to acknowledge a factual rule in gambling "that you're responsible to yourself" which is why it's clearly indicated 18+ as eligible age for gamble in almost all countries that permits gambling,  because it's believed that as an adult you should be able to make your choices and live with it, as no one is coming to save you if you don't first fight to save yourself. As you rightly say, Stake is like every other enterprise that is profit oriented, and profit oriented enterprises do all things possible not to lose out.

Wilben, the ideally I will advise you find ways to deal with your gambling addiction to eliminate it and get yourself back under selfcontrol against gambling, because if you don't work on that and you probably let say achieve your goal regarding your legal suit in pursuant of your claims (which am not condemning anyway), what makes you think you won't continue with another gambling platform and have same losses due to your gambling addiction still hovering with you. What am say is, attack the cause and not just the effect.
35  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 02, 2024, 08:53:19 PM
It is very possible that Man City will again overtake Arsenal in the standings. Because even though Arsenal are 1 point ahead, that's actually not a real advantage. Because Man City has more games left than Arsenal. So if Man City manages to take advantage of all the remaining matches then this season will belong to Man City again. But I feel quite sorry for Mikel Arteta who has fought hard to shape the Arsenal squad to the level it is now. but Arsenal is still having difficulty getting the championship trophy. Even though Mikel Arteta and Arsenal really deserve it.

Man City will play Wolves tomorrow. And maybe it will be a fairly easy match for Man City who will play as hosts. So it is very unlikely that Man City will lose points in tomorrow's match.
If you look at the chances of winning the EPL this season, it looks like Man City will win the EPL title again because in the remaining four matches, only Tottenham will make it difficult for Man City and Arsenal. In the remaining three matches, only Man United will make it difficult for Arsenal to get three points.
This was what I thought but I have a change of mind now because Tottenham don't seem to have what it takes to stop Man City. The lost to Arsenal last week and today they are losing 2-0 to Chelsea meaning that winning spirit have departed from them hence the reason they continue to lose all their important matches. Not only did Chelsea win them tonight, they also dominated them  and had high ball possession. I don't thing there is any team that will be able to stop Man City now unless maybe Arsenal becomes so lucky. .
I can't find an excuse for Tottenham at this stage of the competition seeing how they are playing so poorly after starting this season with a super performance, losing their previous game against Arsenal, and now Chelsea with a cleansheet, and more daunting for them is that they will be meeting Liverpool on Sunday I wonder how they  are gonna survival that if they could lose so badly to Chelsea that have been unstable with their performance too this season.  If we're to do justice to the title race it's clear by the fixtures left to play that Manchester City are going to win this season's EPL title except they fall out of fortune.

I sure admire the manner at which Dortmund defenders are composed and holding on the defence, they have had a powerful defending against PSG giving Dembele and Mbappe no loophole for shots.

Dortmund is winning currently, It was a beautiful and fantastic finish from Fullkrug on that goal for Dortmund. It's Dortmund 1, PSG nil in the first 45mins. The pressure will surely be much on PSG to find a a way out of this potentially losing situation in the second half when they return.
38  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Nigerian passport ranked among worst globally on: May 01, 2024, 08:29:36 AM
The Nigerian passport has been ranked among the worst on the globe highlighting significant challenges for Nigerian travelers seeking international mobility.

As a Nigerian,if you are traveling outside Africa, once you present your International passport at the airport,if other nationals are been search for 10mins, you as a Nigerian you will be thoroughly search for at least 45mins which is very bad.

https://punchng.com/list-nigerian-passport-ranked-among-worst-globally/
It is our political leaders that made or allow things to happen this way. When they don't give priority to their citizens at homeland how do we expect foreigners to accord us that respect which we lack at home from our own very leaders we elect. I still remember in the 60s Nigeria passport was one of the most respected but look at what it has become today. We really have a lot of work to do taking it upon ourselves to restore our nation dignity.
39  Economy / Speculation / Re: Road to 100k? on: April 30, 2024, 06:55:26 PM
Yes people trade bitcoin, and I don't recommend it.. I tend to call it dumb, especially if we are talking about generally what people should be doing, which is not trading  but instead building their BTC stashes... .

That's true , Because one trading  Bitcoin is like waste of resources and time . Because when one start trading with his Bitcoin he or she has already open more doors for losses , expecially when the use of leverages is involved. So the best thing to do to avoid such from happening is to focus on building yah Bitcoin stash, by holding and accumulating Bitcoin .

It could be that I was a bit overly harsh on the idea of trading, and I think part of my issue with folks thinking that they can trade bitcoin, is that ultimately it takes higher level skills (and perhaps some luck too), as compared to more straight forward long term accumulation and holding strategies.

Sure people can make money from trading, and they can even set their trades up in such a way that they will not lose (effectively betting both directions), but it still is not any kind of a practice that anyone should come to bitcoin and presume that they would do better from trading rather than employing some kind of a long term accumulation strategy.
JJG, you have just reminded me of a conversation with a trader friend sometime ago, where he maintained that bitcoin is suitable and profitable for long time holding best instead of trading but many crypto users are yet to know this difference, and that altcoins are what traders should rather cast their focus on as a result of their unreliable nature they are better off for trading which happens to be something of short shot if they can bear the risk of alts.
40  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: April 30, 2024, 02:19:53 PM
Bayern München must win their home game if they want to reach the final. They are unlikely to win away. Whatever they have to do, they have to do it in this game. There's a big opportunity for Harry Kane. He didn't win the German League, but if he wins the Champions League, it would be incredible and it would lift the curse he has on him.
At Real Madrid, Ancelotti has done his mind games again. They made a serious rotation in the last game and saved the main players for this one. The players are fresh, the game will be a very high level of competition. It's very difficult to predict a side. I will not bet on this match, I will just watch and enjoy it.
Why do some of you assume the striker Harry Kane is cursed. Can you tell Who did cursed him?  I only count him among other many legendary players in football history that played so greatly but didn't won a significant trophy in all their career, but hopefully since Kane still has more years to play he could win a trophy to his profile and prove some haters wrong.

I admit, Bayern Müchen have got to secure a win in their home at all cost against Madrid because if they loss it at home they won't be having the liberty of securing such win they probably didn't get at their home in an away game at the  Santiago Bernabéu. At Allianz Arena they have the support of their fans in full capacity to spur them up it's all a home advantage so winning at home becomes imperative so they could struggle for a draw in the second leg away at Madrid ground. It's gonna be a tough match though but I hope Bayern Münich come out victorious anyway.
