21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCO] Xcoin | PoS | No Premine & No IPO on: March 20, 2015, 02:47:30 PM
I am just wondering if there is any temporary features that can be added, there is Bitcoin dark and Darkcoin code in the code, perhaps some sort of basic anonymity solution can be used while more is done to think about improving the coin?

Well right now it's a coin with instant transactions and a very limited supply. Which is good enough for now. I would just like to know what the dev would like to do or thinks.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCO] Xcoin | Hard fork at block 34000 Update your wallet! on: March 20, 2015, 01:59:27 PM

So DEV, what is up?

We're doing our part - some are staking, some are tweeting, some are building websites, some are building faucets, some are reporting bugs.

I mean, you paid for an explorer, seed nodes, spent some time with the code.... shitcoins are mass produced, THINK BIG, not just a few satoshis, you showed a few signs of honesty and that's what most people bought into. The ball is in your court.

 Huh
The goal is to make Xcoin successful

Okkk ill ask otherwise, how will we make this coin a success ?
That is a good question.
My part is to code develop and maintain the technical part of the coin.
You can help make Xcoin a success by doing other things. Like gaining acceptance for the coin at sites, tweeting about it, and other things you think will make it successful.

Also I am just a developer you can't except me to do everything by my self.
Let me worry about the code and about developing the coin, and you do other things.
This is also a key to a successful coin.

So we propose features and you implement them like the input size feature you're started working on and so on?
Not only that, but try to help with things. Tell me about bugs you find. And use the github issue please https://github.com/el3ab/xcoin/issues
Tweet about Xcoin to sites.
Try to help with things, i am only good at coding. I know nothing about marketing, etc.

In all honestly without trying to take anything away from my Unbreakablecoin-UNB duties, I'm personally doing everything I'm capable of as a fan and holder, to be a contributor of X-Coin.
I do hope that my donated time to XCO's website, and the hosting costs, as well as the #IRC channel and time, would be my own proof that XCO is of worthy interest.

Keep it real to crypto, I would like to see more of a community involvement and commitment to X-Coin from you guys  (similar to how you guys expanded UNB for the last year)
I can say this as the Dev of UNB,,, I personally understand how much dedication it takes to make a crypto coin feasible.

Truth be told, I feel that I understand that the amount of time and work it takes to keep a coin's interest gaining monetary value in our crypto community.
The same community that seems to offer a new get rich opportunity every day thru some scam coin.  It is because of these scam coins, that I respect the current crypto community (aka smart crypto users) for being hesitant to participate in any new coin. They should be hesitant. However if you aren't already a fan of UNB for POW, well then look at XCO for POS. (why? well the staking numbers seem right to me, XCO isn't over staking like 95% of POS coins)

With that said, I will most likely mention XCO again tonight on DogeCoinDark Radio ( http://dogecoindark.net/radio/ ) as the most interesting recent POS coin of late. I havn't found another POS coin that I really like. .. and honestly, other coin devs don't seem to be willing to help other crypto coins... (What's up with that crypto friends?)

Anyways, if you wants to add content to the X-Coin website then you need only message me. To top that, I'm more than willing to give admin/ops to the website and X-Coin's IRC. I'm more than happy to share these responsibilities for X-Coin. Message me if you want to contribute, I will be happy to send some XCO your way.

Jim Blasko

I'm here for the long-run. Inspirational post.

I can increase the block reward to 10000000000 coins per block with a hard fork
would you want to stake then Roll Eyes

seriously though what if we change the reward for staking to 20000 coins per block or something.

How about this can you make a faucet? The network will not make blocks solely with staking. No need for any forks or anything of that sort yet. We need something to make transactions.

Passive faucets will cost pennies. You should set them up to send to a random wallet every 25-35 seconds. Problem not solved but the network will at least properly function.

Who runs the x-coin.info site? We need a faucet.

Anyone elses' blockchain out of sync? Looking at the blockchaintree site is showing the block chain has stopped.

Seems to of finally resynced. Wierd.

When there isn't transactions the blocks will stop for those that are new it's something to remember.

Whoever is sending all those transactions is a hero.

27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCO] Xcoin | PoS | No Premine & No IPO on: March 17, 2015, 04:57:57 PM
I sounds like a great idea to get a lot of micro-transactions and have the chain move faster if not many are willing to stake.

Well for those of us staking lets worry about what we can actually deal with. Time is of the essence.

Transaction cost = .01 XCO Which is considerably cheap.
Give away 5/10/20 (or .05/.10.20 every 15 mins) every 4 hours to the same IP. Those that want to stake will have an incentive to give out the money. I know I will contribute.

Are you blazer by chance on slack?

Just got 6 chuncks @ 58 XCO sweet.
what was the size and the age of the block that gave you 58?
5000.98 x20 addresses, and 68 confirmations. We need more transactions.
I got also 5000 chunks, yet all I got was 0.02 XCO at most. And had more than 400 confirmations. Must wait more then.

Ok, so I'm a moron I didn't mine any - those were other transactions I forgot I sent. How I could of overlooked that is beyond me, but to be fair I had just woke up.

This brings to question velocity/transactions, and the fact that without enough staking the system is brought to a halt.

I was expirimenting last night with sending tons of small transactions into a big on then sending the big one back. Sending many small ones is immediate and cheap, but however if I want to send a big transactions I need to follow it up with 6-10 small transactions to make it immediate.

Scenario I have 12500 XCO - I want to send 12500 or about to an exchange. Without transactions you should send 12448 and then 5XCO x10. Wallet requires 1 confirmation for send but exchange requires 6-10. Every transaction creates a confirmation. Or so I guess.

The only thing that comes to mind is making faucets. Transaction cost are low.

Transactions from an exchange to the wallet can be sent back on 1 transaction. Something to consider.

I've been saying it all along like a broken record, this thing likes being used and abused otherwise the blocktimes shoot up - sometimes even close to an hour since the staking is being done only by a small percentage while everyone else is ready to click short or long or dump or just plainly being dicks with closed wallets and only opening them when ready to stake............... the system is PoS FFS and everyone needs to cooperate.................
I've recorded a macro that i used to move the chain faster when i needed it to.... seems some need it  right now, gonna move a few blocks for about an hour and hopefully some of you take adavantage of this to get your coins to a wallet and stake.............

I've been staking the entire time. What do you think about opening a faucet?
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCO] Xcoin | PoS | No Premine & No IPO on: March 17, 2015, 03:55:44 PM
I bought some XCO from C-Cex  yesterday and sent it to my wallet address, but I can't get my wallet to see the network...  I'm using wallet v1.0.0.1-g32a928e.  I think I saw a post that said that we shouldn't need a xcoin.conf file with nodes in it - is that correct?

I've already tried deleting everything (except my wallet file) and starting fresh, but I still have 0 connections to the network.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!  I can't wait to start staking!

Thanks!

First go to Settings->Options and check "Map port using UPnP". Restart the client and give it 10 mins.

Do you have access to your router to know if this is enabled? Is it old?

Well, the altcoin market is full of maniplation. The thing is people don't invest in good projects/coins. They invest in hype and what's already 1000% up.
IF XCO at some point get to 1000 sat or 2000 sat, people will be storming to buy... I'll just stake my share!

Nothing wrong with that. We're here to make more BTC and more fiat, that's the whole game. OFC it's great when you buy interesting project.
I am afraid that this is also consequence of unclear situation with pr, marketing, dev as a only tech person etc.
Personally I sold mine XCO (more than 500k) when I saw that chance of going down is much bigger than up.
But I watch this coin and maybe rebuy, but support is weak - price can stabilistae at this level which is very bad for holders above 500s avg.
But I hope price will recover this week!

I bought in @600-750. The way I look at it, is it's long-term. The dev is here, the hard fork is passed, and the money will be made from holding long-term and staking. I have been involved in far worse and made good in the long run. Hell I traded VRC during the summer months buying at 3300 and selling at 4200-4600 probably 3-4x over. (look at the price now selling at 4600 was a huge mistake for me) Keep in mind how much the price of btc effects the price of everything else. From what I can see there was a ton of guys that sold their BTC around the 280-290 range and won't buy back in. You'll notice when btc dips so do alts but alts will usually pick up since lower btc = more btc liquidity for alt markets.

I'm going to give it another month or so.

Nice, got a link?

35-39 Active wallets connections so far today. Looks like things are looking up.

the network continues to be eeextremely slow. We need more nodes (people) to support it.

There is 11 (25-36) more nodes than last week. More people need to stake and send transactions.

Agreed, good job.

Oh my days, next to no one is staking, I found a block yesterday and it's only had 50 confirms since then.

Can I ask why none of you are staking?

I'm guessing that because the price dropped a little bit you're all worried you can't make your quick profit and are no longer interested.

Please don't make another coin like one user suggested, the market is already full of abandoned coins. I firmly believe with a little help from the community this coin can make it to the hardfork and then it's up to you guys to carry on working hard from there, let the dev do his stuff, whilst the community do the other stuff
staking here, but we may be the only two doing so. 40 blocks in 9 hours.

Perhaps people don't realise just how crucial staking is for POS coins.

Anyone reading this, if there aren't enough people staking the block chain will freeze and you'll be selling at 1 sat before you know it!

Please put your coins in your wallets and get them staking

I'm staking.
