21  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Running a Bitcoin Nodes; My curiosity on: May 20, 2024, 06:46:37 PM
I've read a lot about the Bitcoin nodes and about running one myself but it's nearly impossible to download almost 500 GB of the entire Blockchain with the speed of the Internet I'm currently using. I know nodes are just simple computers running on the Bitcoin network operated by individuals and I've also learned that there are approximately 75k active nodes ( both listening and non-listening nodes) my curiosity is what would happen to Bitcoin if these 75k node operators decided to shut down.

If all nodes shuts down then everything about bitcoin also goes down. Because miners are also node runners and if all miners stop working then nobody will mine bitcoin, nodes also verify transactions which makes them much significant to the network.
So it’s Fair to say bitcoin that without node runners bitcoin won’t exist.

Except you want to run a full node then downloading the whole Block shouldn't be your problem. You can run a pruned nodes to reduce the total storage which the block will occupy in your disk space, The current Blockchain size is around 651.13 GB [1] so it's even above your 500 GB space.

Running a prune node is just practically saving some blocks only, nothing changes with full node. You will still need to download every block which is the total storage and that’s what OP was all about. Also even if you need to import an address practically a old one you will need to download all blockchain again
22  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My transaction was invisible in Sparrow Wallet for two weeks! on: May 20, 2024, 04:43:31 PM
So the address was generated in Sparrow Wallet. I copied that and pasted it in mempool. And the transaction showed there and confirmed - but not in Sparrow Wallet until two weeks later.

If the transaction was actually confirmed at the very first place and you checked the Address balance on mempool then the transaction did arrived at that time. Also sparrow is a wallet not exchanges requires a minimum deposit and without the minimum deposit the amount wouldn’t be visible.

What I think actually happened was a synchronization error, you possibly hadn’t synchronized to the block where the transaction was added into, and that was why the address was empty and you couldn’t send out anything. I have read multiple times here about sparrow wallet having synchronization issues. Now that you can see the coin on your address it means the synchronization is completed or has actual got to the block the transaction is in.

Yes, an wallet address, sorry. Not familiar with all this terminology....

This terminologies are somewhat similar but quite different you can use this site  learnmeabitcoin.com to get to know the difference of this terminologies
23  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: When will you start losing trust for an exchange? on: May 18, 2024, 09:08:40 PM
Asides having a legal issue and mismanagement of person money, what other reason fit make you lose trust in an exchange?

Mismanagement of people’s funds is the strongest reason that many people will lose interest or trust on an exchange, an example is the FTX saga, when they mismanaged the customers fund. The other thing that an exchange can do to lose interest or trust of an exchange is when the exchange reveals the customers KYC willing to the government, this will create a distrust by the customers to be exchange. Although once you do KYC you shouldn’t expect those to save from the public, as even a hack on the platform can cause details to be reveal but if people find out that the exchange sells out or reveals the details to the government or other parties then it will definitely make people lose interest on them
24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: May 18, 2024, 06:46:52 PM
Is like they are still suffering from their last champions league deafeat because I'm kind of suprised too seeing them lose this very important game to maintain the second, well bad for them to finish the season this way despite still saving their spot for the next phase of champions next season.

And for Bayern Leverkusen they ended the season on a fantastic note ,wining a whole of 28 games and 6 draws out of 34 matches played through out the season.

Yesterday I was actually insinuating that Bayern will lose the match and my predictions was base on the fact that Hoffenheim actually needed the match more than Bayern Munich. Since they lost the league or were sure they wouldn’t win I think Bayern Munich payed attention to the Champions league and after a very good fight which they lost they haven’t been playing well. Hoffenheim on the other hand, needed this win to been in contention for the European competitions, lost will have seen them been unsurp by Heidenheim who were just a point behind them.

The season has ended for the first time in nearly 20 years Bayern Munich have failed to either win the league and also finish as runners up. They needed the ended of the season badly. Right now the club needs to re strategize and conclude on weather they will part ways with Tuchel or not. They need to make a decision fast to start preparation for the next season
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 18, 2024, 06:34:59 PM
Arsenal need help from West Ham United for winning premier league tittle this season, being draw or defeat Manchester City give advantage position for Arsenal but have to win against Bournemouth as last Premier League match. But Manchester City get advantage with playing home and not difficult for winning one or two goals after defeating Tottenham Hotspur make The Citizen more confidence for last games in this season.
Being draw against West Ham United make Manchester City on the trouble behind Arsenal has good goal difference and Pep Guardiola must getting three points on last match if want winning premier league again. Arsenal will face Bournemouth and seems will get three points on this match but their winning possibility have waiting Manchester City vs West Ham United match result.

I don’t want to seem like a pessimist but to Arsenal fans I don’t think they should be optimistic about this at all. Yes in football miracles happen and we have seen that happening a lot but with the circumstances at hand now, I don’t expect any surprises. West Ham United have been poor lately, not just poor they have been very poor that they have been shipping Atleast 5 goals in for more than 6 occasions now. Against a vicious attack like that of city which contain the league highest goal scorer, player of the season and also the exceptional king of assist De Bruyne, i don’t think they stand a chance to anything.

Let’s not forget that West Ham is also Arsenal’s London rivals and if you ask me I don’t think they will do them any favor. They are going to ship in goals in my opinion the match will even end after first half

Does anyone agree that Chelsea made a lot of unnecessary buying this season, like jackson the biggest flop in the premier league, je has missed more chances than he had scored, in fact I can say that only palmer was the best signing that Chelsea did this season, I still think they need to striker like osime to complete their team for next season.

I don’t think you actually mean what you said, Jackson was bought for just $30M or so and he did had a double digits of goals in his first season in the Premier league. Yes he missed so many chances but he wasn’t the biggest flop. You fans easily blame strikers base on their goal contributions only and fail to acknowledge their overall performances. Jackson to me contributed to the team a lot than some fans point it out.

If you look at the overall club performance only Cole Palmer was the standout player in the team so you cannot just say a new play that’s in a struggling team is a flop. Next season if Jackson can get his finishing right you will see more of him as an outstanding player. I feel he still needs time, the premier league isn’t that easy.

Roberto DI Zerbi has parted ways with Brighton football club. This comes as a shock, there have been no talks of him leaving and out of no where he has left. This should suggest he has had some personal conversations with some other club, Bayern? Juventus? And he wants to give Brighton enough time to find a replacement before next season.

He is an Italian and played in Seria A and has coached there too, so a return to Italy is not off the cards. But I will put Bayern at the top of the list to sign him. They are desperate for a new coach and cannot afford to get it wrong with how disastrous this season has been.

I just feel like DI Zerbi is kinda of overrated to me, he hasn’t done anything much at mid Club Brighton to say he will walk straight into this top clubs I think he still needs to be at a mid club to perfect anything he is doing right now. Rushing to a bigger club could hamper his growth if things go wrong, take a look at Potters case and how it turned out at Chelsea, and to me Potter was better than Di Zerbi at Brighton

Sir Alex Ferguson will always be the best manager to ever managed Manchester United. It's been decades since Manchester United lifted major titles and this is quite embarrassing and frustrating on the ends of Manchester United. It's high time the Red Devils buckled up and set themselves ready for the big winnings. Perhaps the current squad have slim chances of winning titles and probably not when there's presence of mediocre manager that's incompetent for the essential tasks incoming.

One thing I noticed is when people look back at how Manchester United were the D team to beat in the past they easily just accustomed the performance to the manager and how brilliant the players were. But when they bring it back to the recent events they blame only the manager for bring the club down. And leave the players unabashed.

Manchester United have had five different managers and if you ask me two were in the great coaches category and the rest had Those that were in goof coaches category. Ten Hag to me is in that good Coach category. The problem of Manchester United is definitely right from the hierarchy before coming down. That’s why I like the new 25% stake owner Sir Ractliff on his decision to start a club over haul from the top
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 17, 2024, 10:27:26 PM

I kinda wonder why most people would still be interested on whoever Real Madrid going to sign when the main dish has been served? IKYK

Mbappe will go there after the season ends and this is the main dish that will really blast the whole news outlet so Im really interested to know all those rumours circulating within Mbappe and Real Madrid. As of now, there is no  rumours on how much will Mbappe receive if he go there. Obviously he is going to get alot as well though, absolutely not for 'free' for his signing bonus

That’s why Madrid are regarded as the galacticos, they usually go for the big names on world football. When they went quite on Mbappe deal months ago I knew they had the deal almost done because they don’t do just any kind of deal. For now Mbappe is almost coming to Madrid as I don’t see any club that he would want to go and play for except Manchester city and he had already ruled out premier league football for now.

As for his wages he will definitely be among European highest paid players but the ridiculous amount he was paid in PSG will definitely not be what he will get at Madrid. Perez is usually strictly when handing out contracts to players a huge wage might causes a wage gap fight Between elite players.

As for Alphonse Davis I think he will be a Real Madrid player too, Madrid are just not trying to force a transfer so as not to break the rules of transfer as Davis is still contracted to Bayern Munich and it will be disrespectful to do that
29  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: If you can invest in btc then trust it and just hodl for future betterment on: May 17, 2024, 10:11:23 PM

Apparently hodling is the key for a better life in the future and it can only be Bitcoin investment which has proven most times that with hodling a wealthy life can be created in the long run. When we consider how the price of Bitcoin have been moving sluggishly in the past week and to see it experience an increase in the last 24 hours is to tell us that you can never be at a loss with bitcoin especially for those who hodl for long term.

For a newbie and a new investor, try to just hold your coins for a long term as this is the safest way to get the best out of the market and avoid huge risk. But this doesn’t mean people do not make it out in profit for short term sales, but as it is said it is too risky and that’s why you see crypto experts warning people from trading futures.

Yes bitcoin reacts this days to fundamental news easily and that’s one of the reasons that caused this uprise currently happening. The CPI news on Wednesday showed a data that it has reduced from 3.5% to 3.4%. This was what caused the rise on crypto
30  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Imagine owning a Bitcoin note. on: May 17, 2024, 09:21:29 PM
Firstly Op I think this post is one for Bitcoin discussion board and not beginners and help so I suggest you kindly move it.
Anyways Bitcoin is fully digital and also decentralized now if you think about it we are actually headed towards a digital future which we are already in fact stepping into already. Bitcoin is more like a definition of how an independent and decentralized dynamic digital banking system should be.

The main reason your reason would be difficult is because of the fact that since Bitcoin has Been soo progressive over the years, just like dkbit98 mentioned, physical items related to it will definitely be regarded as collectibles.

Exactly a physical printing of bitcoin will definitely kill off most of the benefits or advantages that people have for this bitcoin. First thing is who print bitcoin? The organization that print or Mint this note will then be the central authority of the coin and choose when to print more or reduce it,
So it kills decentralization.

Another is the status as an hedge against inflation will be ruin because the more they print more bitcoin there won’t be any limited supply and also inflation might kick in.

Also the money normally used for printing any coin or currency is usually huge which is why most countries self are hoping out of the physical cash policy to cashless policy because of the cost effectiveness of it
31  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dropping Bitcoin price could significant rewards for investors in future. on: May 17, 2024, 09:07:36 PM

Technically though we should be in the bull run already as halving is completed. But we should wait till the price goes up this year. But I do agree, when I was also a noob in the market way back, every dip in the market, I will be nervous and don't know what to do and most of the time I will panic sell. And then I found out about DCA and what to do when the price goes down very hard. So it's a learning process and I think everyone could have been in this kind of situation before. So it's up to us to really take advantage when the market is down and buy the dip or just continue to accumulate as much as we can thru DCA method which have been proven already by the rest of us average joe and regular investors to the whales like Michael Saylor.

No I don’t think that we should be in bull run yet base on technical analysis. If you check technical analysis is mostly base on past experience and as at the past halvings the bull run doesn’t kick start until at least two months after halving, we are just a month past halving, so the correction is still in phase. You can also remember that the market did a turn against the past history by reaching a new all time high before halving and this to me is what prompted the correction we are having right now.

Those that you see panic as this correction is taking place are either newbies coming to this space which I don’t blame them because it’s natural to panic when you see your funds going down, with time as you say they will get use to it. The other set of people are those that go for short term trade and they are seeing a correction now
32  Other / Meta / Re: Should mods make a post to justify why they locked a thread? on: May 16, 2024, 11:18:10 PM
I don't think it is based on their "own discreation" rather its based on forum rules.

I see few locked threads that there's a note/post from the mod but not as always. So yeah, it will be good to see a required note to add if the mod is going to lock a thread to avoid confusion of the OP.

Exactly mods do not act base on what they think about that thing rather they take action base on the rules of the forum, most threads are mostly locked due to spamming although there are others for some other reasons but to me the number for spam locked thread are much. And judging by that once you go through a thread that is locked you will definitely see clear reasons why it is locked.

But this doesn’t mean it won’t be a good addition that a note for the thread getting locked is stated at least it guides more members again on why they get their thread Locked. Those who will like to improve their posting habit will improve. But this will also give the mod an extra work
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Swap crypto or sell first then buy? on: May 16, 2024, 11:05:57 PM
It definitely isn’t much of a problem to me which route you take. My only problem with having to convert down to fiat is that it will cause more for charges and looking more like it cause a little stress than the just swapping direct to the Altcoins. Although there are not too many of the Altcoins having a direct trading pair with each other but a simple conversion to the usdt and then buying with the altcoin and usdt pair, savin the stress of converting to the fiat which rates varies again.

Now my advice on this is, never jump on Altcoins that ere refusing to pump most especially when a Bitcoin narrative is driving the Market. Some of this Altcoins are just there with the potential no longer worth it and it will be risky to cash in on them with money from another Altcoins.
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When investing in Bitcoin: what to consider? on: May 16, 2024, 10:48:45 PM
First how does Bitcoin operate? Bitcoin it's a digital currency uses Blockchain technology to support transactions between users. If you know how Bitcoin operates then you will also know the consideration that comes with. And critics say Bitcoin doesn't work as a currency, Citing volatility use in illegal activity, but supporters argue that it's too early to make  some of these claims, is already fixing many of those concerns. I know their are so many things to be consider with when it comes to anything investment. Mostly concerning the highest exchange in the world. So what are your opinion towards the people that are investing in Bitcoin?

Yea i wouldn’t say many people today do not treat bitcoin as a currency but rather they treat it more today as an asset to hold as a result of the distinctive characteristics that bitcoin possess and which are characteristics for good asset to hold. People today to not just bring out their bitcoin to trade like that but rather look for other means.

There is nothing wrong treating bitcoin as a investment so my advice to any one trying to come into cryptocurrency or specifically is to think long time. Many people fall to losses today in cryptocurrency or bitcoin because of the duration of timing of when to buy and sell.
35  Economy / Speculation / Re: How short-term market speculations can help small bitcoin holders on: May 16, 2024, 09:50:36 PM
If the intention was to hold for a short period and take some gain then had it worked for him. But with the level of knowledge you have what was the advice you gave to him? The reason why I asked is because the short-term profit only lasts for a while and if you check it out his accumulation in fractions of Bitcoin has received. I don't know why but I am more concerned about the fraction of Bitcoin I have more than the value in USD. If he had 0.1234 BTC and since he sold and took some profit he now owns less than 0.1234 BTC.

Yeah there are various traders today that trade spot market as a short term trade just the way people do in perpetual trading. To me it’s a very risky form of trading most especially for a highly volatile trades, it can be much better without too much risk for coins like bitcoin who do not fall that hard or rather consolidate more the risk is minimal but still their is also risk there.

It is weird or not too good to risk $600 for just a gain of $57 this clearly shows that your friend has a very poor risk management that’s. If I were you I will advise him to go ahead and hold for long as the best beneficiary are those who hold for long.

But still let’s not take it away from him there is nothing wrong at taking profits at anytime just do well not to enter back at a higher price
36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 15, 2024, 10:36:27 PM
Newcastle were generally better but I was impressed with the young players in Manchester United and the passion that they showed in the game. It is not surprising that they are the ones on the scoresheet, Mainoo, Diallo and Hojlund. Manchester United will actually be better if the coach is able to bring in the proper players and then sell players not needed in the club anymore for next season. It is a shame that they will not be in the champions league next season, they have to correct that.

I think both teams matched each other’s momentum and none was better than any. My pick from the game is Newcastle or Manchester United might be on the brink of missing out on European football next season. Also Newcastle have a very strong squad and the players on the bench are not just average players but players that would start for any middle club team. With Newcastle scared of the financial fair play rules they would have to sell some of their key players. The first player that caught my attention is Isak. I don’t think Newcastle will be able to keep him and Guimares because of how good they are.

Obviously, when looking at how Chelsea football team started poorly this season, it would be hard for anyone to think that Chelsea would be finishing 6th and ahead of  Manchester united in league table, Well despite all the ugly performances this season, they won't be finishing in a very bad position at the end,  And I hope Pochettino will be able to fix up things with Chelsea come next season and bring back Chelsea to its glory we hope for.

The issue with Chelsea has long ago been converting their chances, they usually create more chances than their opponents but without a proper center forward who can’t score enough goals. Jackson might have scored many this season but should have be 10 plus more goals to his name this season. If not for their new signing Cole Palmer I don’t think they would still he going for the next European spot but their resilience will at least get them this arsenal
37  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 15, 2024, 10:12:25 PM
Varane's loss is bad. He's a World Cup winner and a great leader. What, though? United is Manchester. We're the world's most successful club. We construct for the future, not the past. It would be great to sign Adarabioyo and Braitwaith. These eager young players have great potential. Their defensive combo might make Old Trafford a fortress again, like Vidic and Ferdinand. Naturally, it will take time. They require time to evolve, learn the system, and build chemistry. But with coaching and support, they may be world-class. All Manchester United activities are about winning. Young players are essential to establishing a squad that will dominate for years.

Exactly, even I wanted Varane to leave, i don’t have problem with is playing pattern but one thing about me is I find players who are injury prone to be not too ok for the club. Varane was already having a reoccurring knee injury in almost every three to four games he plays. Not that I want to support Ten Hag bad season but this defensive problems really caused him points. You cannot tell me that Martinez wouldn’t be making a good decision or better one than what Casemiro makes at the moment. So the likes of Varane sadly need to pave way for new and young lads

Frimpong has release clause into his contract 40 millions and it will be activated for next month so those who interested to him should be buy according to his release clause price and indeed Frimpong performance is really impressive this season so this makes some of big clubs were putting him into their radar and it says Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester United is really serious want him especially Real Madrid and why they were interested want to buy Frimpong because they want to regeneration their defensive lines especially for right back position so Real Madrid want to used Frimpong as the replacement of Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez where the age of these players is more than 30 years old now

Frimpong has the right to want to leave and go look for new challenges. The two perfect team are Manchester United and Real Madrid. At Madrid he will step in for Dani Carvajal. While at Manchester United he will battle it out with Dalot as Wan Bissaka is set to leave
38  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How to HODL for long. on: May 14, 2024, 11:19:28 PM
Di most important thing for person wey de serious to hodl Bitcoin on the long term na to make sure say im get atleast one steady source of income, odawise e no go de possible to do am. Investment na secondary need, you go first of all make sure say your income de cover basic needs like food and shelter, den you go fit to put emergency funds aside as savings, no matter how small, na dat time person fit to de able to do long term hodl without distractions, na di way wey I take see am be dat.

Person wey get responsibilities and im no get work, or im income no de enough to take care of basic needs, make im forget about Bitcoin investment, even if di person come de lucky say im hammer money, make im no rush enter Bitcoin, make im first establish business wey go de give am steady money on di short term first. Di important thing na to get Bitcoin investment knowledge, you fit to start anytime wey your income grow pass your primary basic needs, no matter how small you go fit start DCA method, de hodl Satoshi, without to tamper di money.

In as much as it may look like a only those who have money are opportune to invest into cryptocurrency and those without money Should not it is true. People will say everyone can invest into bitcoin or cryptocurrency at large but I tell those who feed from hand to mouth are not fit to invest into cryptocurrency for me.

It is most at times not about having money and going straight to invest into crypto but can you afford to lose that money, someone who probably earns just enough to cater for his needs wouldn’t have this luxury to lose money and such investing into crypto will be a very high risk for them because when they might need the money might be a very wrong or bad time to sell.

So first step of investing into cryptocurrency is to first find two or more income streams and risk an amount you can afford to.
39  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 14, 2024, 11:09:57 PM
As what ten hag said in the previous interview, he has a plan to overhaul the club. This gonna be a major move but i can't really sure if it will give a good impact to the manchester united. The regeneration shall be done slowly and progressively.
Ten hag is urging the management to sell a lot of players. There's no guarantee if younger midfielder will be better for the club. It's not only casemiro. MU is gonna sell all of its players except garnacho, mainoo and hojlund.

Varane is no doubt up there against the best center backs of his time when fully fit. He and Lisandro Martinez Formed a defensive partnership that to me were the best the club have seeing since the days of Vidic/Ferdinand. His contract runs down in the summer and if you ask me it was the best thing to not give a contract extension because the wages is outrageous for a player that cannot simply play five games in a row without getting injury.

There is a new rules coming for spending on wages in the premier league and Manchester United will need to definitely reduces wage load and players like Varane are due to leave with also Casemiro too a candidate to follow the same route.

The two players that are currently listed for Varane replacement which are Fulham soon to be free agent Tobi Adarabioyo and Everton’s Braitwaith. If you ask me I will say both needs to be sign for squad depth which is needed should Lindelof or/and maguire leaves
40  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: May 14, 2024, 10:49:49 PM
Currently, their unbeaten record has increased to 50 matches after a big victory against Bochum with a score of 5 goals 2 days ago so this is definitely a record that is difficult to break.

At the moment their targets are still the DFB final and the Europa League on the horizon but a Bundesliga win, even if it doesn't really matter because they've already got the trophy, can be a good morale booster and of course it's a good thing to keep their record intact.
Next week it looks like against Augsburg they will make a few rotations to keep their players from feeling shortchanged especially in the next 2 weeks they will have 2 finals so that their treble target is obtained according to plan.

If you ask me the final game against Augsburg definitely matters a lot to Bayer Leverkusen. They have all the season been producing back to back stoppage time comebacks just to keep up their unbeaten record and you think they would want to just let it slip away at the die minutes. I don’t think they will have to rest players for Augsburg Game as it looks clear that Xabi Alonso definitely eyes the unbeaten record which will be the first of its kind in the Bundesliga and since the one achieved by Arsenal invincibles in 2002.

They play more less 3 finals in less than 10 days and seriously I am backing them to win the games comfortably. I see Xabi only dropping players at most in the DFP pokal final due to the team in contention.
