21  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Season on: June 08, 2024, 05:05:28 PM

Real Madrid signed Mbappe, the most wanted player in the world. Superstars abound on their roster, and a museum could hold all of their awards. They're the favorites to win now. Still, hold on. Not yet final. Man, Kroos and Nacho are gone. They were the team's soul. There will be a change even if Real Madrid has young players ready to mature. Created chemistry in this sport takes time. An further complication will be the Champions League framework change the following year. Real Madrid is undoubtedly the team to beat. Never undervalue the power of an underdog. These hungry squads, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, PSG, can beat anybody. There is going to be chaos this season

And of course no one can dispute the fact that Kilian Mbappe is one of the promising players in the world right now with his performance in the last season and a season before then. Having Mbappe in Real Madrid is one of the most interesting and beautiful moves to take by a team that's already the defending champions of the last season. What this will make up is a strong and unbreakable team that have high chances and expectations for winning big in this coming season. Having Bellingham, Carvajal, Rudiger, Valverde, Rodrygo, Vini Jr., Kroos and other players on board is a full squad for Real Madrid. The truth is, everyone can predict that Real Madrid have the best chances of wining this coming season based on the current knowledge available.
22  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you really want from gambling? on: June 08, 2024, 04:53:21 PM
Maybe you wanted to ask yourself, why do we get involved in gambling knowing that we are more likely to lose than to win?

Maybe it's for the challenge, adrenaline, proving to the casino that you're the best, we're all involved for the same reason: to gain a financial advantage by trying your luck with the range of game varieties that the casino offers.

Why I found OP's question funny is because I see the question as someone asking why does the fishes in the rivers decide to eat the food they like and not just what's necessarily available to them. While gambling isn't an essential part of human life, a lot of us find enjoyment and comfort in gambling and it's not something you should be surprised or bamboozled about. Other people can decide to join gambling for the monetary gain and opportunity they found in it. In the end, everyone out there gambling have their respective reasons and motivations towards it.
23  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How digital currency has helped in solving monetary problems. on: June 08, 2024, 04:48:34 PM
Technological advancements don really help di financial sectors for every country inside di world today, you fit to sit down for di comfort of your home and begin to de do financial transactions, whereas before di creation internet, you go queue for many hours for Banks before you go transfer money. But for clarification purposes OP, no be only for cryptocurrency digital transactions de happen, we fit to also do digital transactions with fiat currency, e mean say any transactions wey no be with physical cash, na through digital transactions e go happen.

Thank you. Like, even for the fiat and conventional financial system self, the advent of the internet don really help us achieve so many things at ease and it is getting more easier, efficient and faster by the day. Since the inception of the 'new generation' banks which introduced electronic banking into Nigeria as early as the 1980s, we have continued to enjoy the good-paced transformation in the banking sector. In November 2000, Nigeria adopted the online banking platforms, as at around the same time the world was embracing such transformations and if you take a good look at how those advancements have transitioned to what we enjoy today which includes the Mobile Application Banking and the POS system of banking, you will have no reason but to appreciate the transformations we're currently enjoying today even in the fiat currencies and conventional banking system.

Quote

Di advantages of a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, and wetin make am to de unique pass fiat digital transactions be say na decentralized digital cash im be while fiat currencies dem de centralized. Bitcoin give di holders privacy and freedom from third party interferences anywhere in the world, person wey hold Bitcoin, anywhere in the world no get any government restrictions to make financial transactions, unto say governments no de control am, unless di person go through centralized exchanges.

It is also good to always note that the cryptocurrencies, built on the decentralized system, did not come necessarily to replace the centralized system but as an alternative to the centralized system of banking. What can change the status quo to the replacementof the centralized system will be determined by the people themselves but that's not going to happen anytime soon since the centralized system is backed by the governments and enjoyed by most systems of governments even though it is not all government. Like as found in the El-Salvado president who seems to be ready to embrace transitioning from the centralized system to the decentralized one.
24  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks have money but they don't cooperate on: June 08, 2024, 04:16:36 PM
First off, the bank has no business letting everyone who asks out a loan from them in.
If they did let everyone borrow money from them, they will be in debt. Not everyone with good ideas gets to be successful with it. The banks need to pick their battles wisely. They need to make profit too after all.

Banks are also into the business to make profit and not lost so whenever you have a transaction to do with them, while they work hard to get you satisfied as a customer, they work towards their journey to profit making. This also means that whenever you as a customer is not favoring them, they adjust their services in a reduced manner to fit into your value in their business. So if they allow everyone to lend money from them without the intention of paying back with interest and if they can't tie those borrowing of money to collaterals, then they cannot make profits and will end up bankrupt.

Quote
Quote
They don't cooperate because they don't want to. Quit crying about it and find other ways, besides, why invest money you can't afford to lose in the first place?
Spending money your hand has not touched is probably the most dangerous thing you can do. If you keep thinking you have money without actually having one and spending it, you will soon find yourself broke and in debt.

Any money that is not accessible by you is not truly your money even if you're told it is. So, you should not reinvest money that cannot be spent because that's practically not your asset.
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: June 07, 2024, 09:50:17 PM

Girona still appear to me like an under dog who was just privileged in the just concluded season, but I want to believe they will be able to sustain the form the had this season by next season but it wouldn't be enough for the to be seen as a contender to Madrid or even Barcelona but they may be able to still maintain a top four position and still get some more champions league privilege and experience in the times they are able to be at the top.

I strongly agree with you that Girona are the underdog in the league but the most mind blowing part is nobody expected it because Girona is not up to a decade since they joined the La Liga league. The kind of performance they exhibited this season was absolutely amazing and encouraging for them to do better in the next season. What everyone expects from Girona is to maintain Michel as the club's manager against the next season and tournament especially now that they will be playing the Champions league.
26  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Cryptocurrency a renew hope for Nigeria youth on: June 07, 2024, 09:38:10 PM
Well the thing is that it would have been what it would have been my bro. No be lie say crypto don really help so many people out there and even till date it still paving way for the technology to keep advancing in helping different directions and that's why no matter what and why the government feel threatened by Bitcoin the people who benefits will still using the technology.

No lies, cryptocurrencies have really impacted on my live since I started it. Aside from the fact that it has benefited me financially in the sense that I am able to solve my financial problems and used it to invest and also build my life, that's a lot to appreciate and mention as far as Bitcoin is concerned but that didn't stop there. Bitcoin have also impacted the lives of my family because I am able to put food in the table and still support my siblings with their needs. If not for anything, it has been really uplifting.

My abovementioned have motivated me to also spread the word of bitcoin in my community through word of mouth and engagement of younger ones to look at the technology from the very positive side and not the false beliefs they have about it.
27  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: June 07, 2024, 07:56:54 PM
I understand what you are talking about. It depends what you mean by “believe” in this case. Let's say I believe that this is an expert, I believe that his opinion is based not on guesswork but on specific numbers and results, I understand that he carefully analyzes games and has extensive experience in this matter. But I DO NOT BELIEVE that all the information and all the forecasts he gives will be 100% correct.

Thank you for this wonderful way of explaining the way these things work. The issue of believing in 100 percent the prediction of an expert is not even the case but an expert will always give you analysis and the bases in which he arrived at the prediction he made strictly based on his vast experience in the games he's predicting. Does that makes him 100 percent correct? No. But most cases you can count on him because he's not guessing either but making conclusions based on his in depth experience. Believing 100 percent in the prediction of any expert can be regarded as a case of a soothsayer. We can also draw inference with those expert metrologists that are making predictions on weather and climate conditions and changes and how accurate most of their information becomes.
28  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambling is a fatal mistake on: June 07, 2024, 07:48:18 PM
Please be specific when you say something. I know that the root of the problem is gambling but we shouldn't say that it's the fault of gambling if a person behaves like that, but it's the addiction that makes them take such steps. Gambling doesn't do anything if you do it while staying within your limits. Thousands of people gamble but they never face such situations in their lives because they gamble responsibly and they know what they should and shouldn't do.

Gambling is not just any kind of game or sport out there but an addictive one. Gambling is absolutely addictive by nature and the people of knowledge have categorized gambling as a behavioral type of addiction unlike the use of substance abuse which can be classified as another form of gambling separately. Whilst all kinds of addictive agents end up dealing with our mental health, they all have forms to which they sink and affect the brain. Gambling form of addiction can be similar to the kind of addiction people get from the excitement of watching pornography.

What am I saying in essence, people who ever got to survive their ways towards creating a permanent limitations to addiction of gambling and are able to stick to it does not necessarily mean they also cant be victims someday especially wen they get to do it very frequently. All we can do is to continue to advise addicts to always learn ways in which they can avoid the addiction of gambling.
29  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: What is this new penalty for drugs trafficking in Nigeria? on: June 07, 2024, 06:47:59 PM
Nigeria's Senate has approved a bill that proposes death penalty for persons found guilty of trading or consuming hard drugs and narcotics. In Nigeria, death penalty is now the maximum sentence for the offence, replacing life imprisonment.
I was surprised when I saw the news some days or weeks ago. Life imprisonment is better. You know the government have little to provide for prisoners and the prisons are crowded, maybe they are finding ways to reduce the inmates or finding ways the reduce the new inmates that will stay for long in prison.

Hard drugs and narcotics are one of our major yet silently-killing problems in the country today. When you at people who peddle drugs and those that consume these drugs you will realize that we are in a big menace in the country as the effects of these drugs cannot be overemphasized.

According to a report that was carried out by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes in Nigeria, it evaluated that over 14 percent of the country's population which amounted to over 14 million people within the ages of 15 and 64 years of age are identified to be drug addicts. Mind you, these are the data and statistics of those that were able to capture. In a country like Nigeria where any data you take like this can be regarded as an average.

How about we talk about those peddling the drugs and how that have negatively affected our national character and behavior of the citizens as well as it's contribution to the corruption and misdemeanor currently faced by the country today.
30  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: June 06, 2024, 09:19:45 PM
I agree that Manchester City still have higher chances of winning the trophy next season, but it’s too early to conclude that they will be winning yet, the season hasn’t even started for us to see how each club is playing. We should wait for the season to start first, and we have to see how each club is performing before concluding. We saw what happened to Manchester City in the last FA Cup final, everyone expected Manchester City to win the cup because they were in form, and Manchester United's performance wasn’t really good, but we saw how the match ended and things didn’t go well for Manchester City, so anything can happen to Manchester City next season.

I also suggest that it's too early to decide or predict wins the next season of the Premier League especially in a dynamic competition like Premier league anything can happen. Likewise we've have seasons where thriving second class clubs spring up surprises like the Leverkusen did in their own league and Leicester City did in the past Premier league trophy. I'm most optimistic about the performance of Manchester City in the next season likewise that of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. I have a feeling that Manchester would perform better in the next season that they did this season due to the mistakes and errors that were caused by the manager who is Eric Ten Hag.
31  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you really want from gambling? on: June 06, 2024, 08:58:39 PM
Earning and fun everyone chooses either of these two. I use gambling as fun but sometimes it takes me out of my control without realizing it. Today I gambled at first it was fun I was smoking and listening to music and playing blackjack on my laptop. I started with just $16 and from Win it's $67. Later I got more excited and started betting bigger amounts to win more then it dropped to $8 then managed to get to $48 again and it went to Zero as I continued to gamble. That moment was very happy but when the balance was over I was regretting. Gambling is basically like that

I will only gamble for those two things which are for the sake of earning some money from it and as well as for the sake of fun. Any man out there will tell you that he's interested in the money because for us that's our end goal. So, if you ask me a billion times, I will tell you I am much interested in the cash. However, the fun is always necessary. Gambling was purposely meant for fun sake and that's what should motivate you after the money.
32  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: June 06, 2024, 08:48:31 PM
Surprises in matches are more visible in the European League than in the Champions League, but the level of fierce competition in matches is clearly more visible in the Champions League than in other leagues. But for the teams that are eliminated from the Champions League and enter the Europa League, it is also quite dangerous for other opponents because they could make a bigger surprise in the Europa League with the interesting matches they receive here.

Well this year's champions league was also full of surprises, although the end result was not any difference since Real Madrid was able to take the trophy home for the 15th time. What was surprising to me was the way Dortmund was able to hold the fierce competition with other elite clubs that participated and found their way to the finals. Although, that would not be the first time they had done that, since they were able to take the trophy in 1997 but now Dortmund wasn't at its best because they could not make it to the top third of the Bundesliga but at least they were able to channel the same energy to the Champions league finals.
33  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: June 06, 2024, 07:50:59 PM

Don't get me wrong. Real Madrid is not going to take any opponent easily. They are probably going to beat almost everyone with equal passion. I agree that big teams sometimes actually do not take the weaker opponents seriously. And that's how some of the big teams actually end up losing crucial matches against weak opponents. But whenever it comes to Barcelona versus Real Madrid, I do not think there is actually any weak opponent. El Clásico is always going to be competitive and it is always going to be the center of attraction in the La Liga competition. So Real Madrid definitely is not going to take Barcelona as a weaker opponent. It doesn’t matter how much stronger Real Madrid is compared to Barcelona.

Even at the worse season and form of Barcelona, Real Madrid will never take them as a weaker opponent and they will always play their best not to take chances of losing their game to Barcelona. Now, when we try to compare the current performance of both teams, you will realize that Real Madrid is more powerful and promising than Barcelona because of their great performance in the season and how they were able to take their La Liga trophy this year as well as the Champions league further shows the capacity they have proven. Nevertheless, because Barcelona is an elite club and have a great deal of respect and antecedents, Madrid will not dare to take them for granted.
34  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Nigeria on track to attain food security? on: June 06, 2024, 06:27:13 PM
President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, expressed his determination to make Nigeria self-sufficient in food production before leaving office. Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, promised that the Federal Government would continue to partner with states that bring development to their people.

You can follow more this on here
👇👇👇👇
https://punchng.com/nigeria-on-track-to-attain-food-security-tinubu/

I come across this news this morning, do you think president tinubu is trying to make things easier for Nigerians?

If the government really means to achieve this, I promise you they can. They have all it takes to be able to leverage the agricultural sector in the country and use that to bolster the economic development of the state as well as recalibrate the unstable economic and inflation crisis the country is facing today. All the federal government needs to do is to strengthen its investment into food producing states - states that have the fertile land for mass production of food - like in the north we have a lot of states that are into production of cash crops like rice, beans maize etc and in the south where you have states that are massively into the palm oil business and so on.

The federal government can decide to identify the diversity in the farm products those states can make and invest in them respectively. For instance, the main palm oil producing states are in the south-south, southwest and south-east where you have states like Akwa Ibom, Edo, Ekiti, Delta, Enugu, Ogun, Anambra and states like Bayelsa where you find almost everywhere littered with the oil palms.

In the North central, we have states like Niger State with the largest landmass of over 70,000 kilometer square of parable land fertile for the mass production of Rice, Beans, Groundnuts, Milets, Soybeans, Gum Arabic, Cassava, Sesame Seed, Maize and the likes of Shea karnel which are very profitable and are highly demanding for the international market. Niger State alone can be an hub for the production of food and the state can support the federal government and the administration in its food security agenda.

States like Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, and Kebbi are well specialized in Garlic and Cotton while you will get Hibiscus in large quantity from states like Jigawa Kano and Bauchi states.

If I want to continue mentioning, I will probably take some much more paragraphs explaining but in a nutshell, all these are opportunities that the government can leverage because they are God's given natural resources that the land is enriched with. If we as a nation can focus on all of these that I have mentioned,  in no time, we attain food security and still have enough to transport out of the country.
35  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can someone take gambling as a source of income to he/she life? on: June 05, 2024, 09:40:48 PM
It is highly unlikely for an average person to make gambling a consistent and reliable source of income. Some people can have short term success gambling is based on chance and luck, making it a risky and unpredictable venture.

Most people who attempt to make gambling their main source of income end up losing more money than they earn. It’s important to approach gambling as a form of entertainment rather than a means of making money.

When you ask me whether I should make gambling as a main source of income, I will loudly say no. Because that will be like putting my head in one basket of which if the basket leaks, you have absolutely nothing to do about it. That's the kind of scenario I will give to anyone trying to take gambling their main source of income. The purpose of gambling to me is for fun. It's a game that you play with fun and not for a living.
36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: June 05, 2024, 08:54:34 PM

No, I don't see any hand writing on the wall concerning the future of Victor Osimehn at Napoli, Victor is a very Young vibrant striker that has proven himself countless times in his club and even though there is arrival of a new manager now I doubt if the coach will want to allow Osimehn to leave the club to sign an older striker to the team.

I personally don't want to see Osimhen in Napoli in the next season because I don't see a great future for such a great and fast growing talented striker like Victor Osimhen who has proven his worth to deliver in his own styles all the opportunities that come his way. I like to enjoy how the guy is so strong and determined then talented to crown it all. Any club that have a player of such caliber is meant to thrive successfully especially if the club happens to be an elite club and respects the worth of such player through appreciating him and supporting him.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lessons from 50 Cent's Adoption of Bitcoin for Album Sales 10 Years Ago on: June 05, 2024, 06:09:04 AM
For me I will say 50 cent took the risk and he is definitely up there having his investment growing everyday if at all he hasn’t sold all. 50 cent might have gotten it better with the new financial revolution (bitcoin) it doesn’t mean that one should just dive into any trend like that without proper research though.
But one thing we need to learn also is don’t go for money all the time as a payment go for assets or even shares it gives you investments diversification.

Like the first reply suggested that 50 Cent went bankrupt in 2015 barely 1 year after he accepted bitcoin payments for his album. If really that was true for his situation he probably have sold all the bitcoin he had instead of leaving it for Investment. While some people believed in the new technology not everyone was ready to really invest in it as many would instead take their bitcoin assets to the real estate business and other physical businesses.

Else, if he hadn't sell his bitcoins till now, then having up to 700 bitcoin today would have amounted to so much of funds right now. If he also have the knowledge of the bull run and decide to reinvest his money into other prospective altcoins, he's probably going to make more money from the cryptocurrencies.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin gradually turning away from its purpose? on: June 05, 2024, 06:01:10 AM
Bitcoin isn't turning away from its purpose at all mate. Infact, it is advancing and growing massively in different aspects compared to what it was initially created for. If you check the Bitcoin white paper, you will clearly see that Bitcoin was created as a decentralized p2p payment alternative. But with such great technology, you don't expect it to stop there. You as an investor can choose to use it for what ever purpose you want to, either as a long term investment plan or a payment option. But the truth is that bitcoin hasn't shifted a bit from its initial purpose of creation.

I also don't see the derailment in the Bitcoin technology as far as the investment in Bitcoin is concerned. The truth of the matter is that everyone will expect that as the decentralized technology is growing and advancing there would be such kind of great investment opportunities that will be tied around it. So, investment in Bitcoin is just another advancement that has helped the system grow more rapidly and positively because even the government officials who are fighting the system are investing in it from the back door.

Like you mentioned earlier, the decentralized p2p payment and transaction alternative have grown over time to get the attention of top investors who have found the investment opportunity in it and have utilized it properly.
39  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling increases computer education. on: June 04, 2024, 09:53:44 PM
Online gambling attracts many gamblers at all ages and in order for you to follow the trend, you must learn how to use this. In my country, you can gamble easily with your own mobile phone and you don’t need any computer just to start betting and this makes it more easy for elderly people to gamble as they are also exposed to mobile phones nowadays.

Well. Every avenue that will make you to touch and try to learn a way to understand something about the way applications or softwares operate, whether it's overthe phone or directly to the computer is a way of getting the user close to the technology and by extension the learning of the technology. If we are going to evaluate things in this perspective, you can agree with me that online gambling is another avenue for people to learn the knowledge of computer but that does not make you an expert in computer knowledge even if you use the apps for decades, you will only improve your knowledge on the apps and not the computer itself. To truly gain a solid knowledge on the computer, you will have to learn the knowledge of the computer.

Erik Ten Hag should have deserved to be fired, especially since Manchester United's performance this season has been very disappointing. Even this season, finishing in 8th place and only collecting 60 points was the worst record since the David Moyes era.

Honestly. Eric Ten Hag did not do as best as it will be expected from him as a manager of an elite club like Manchester United where Sir Alex Ferguson who happened to be one of the  greatest European managers of all time managed for years to many victories. Any manager that is coming to that kind of club is expected to do more and I guess Eric felt that pressure in the beginning but later was more focused on his inability to control his emotions and sentiments towards his players. Hence having issues with them one of which was with Cristiano Ronaldo which I was unhappy about. Like, having Ronaldo in his team was a homecoming for the player but not allowing him to play the way he should was the biggest mistake they had.
