21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How would you introduce Bitcoin to your friends and family? on: May 10, 2015, 09:25:07 AM
My mom is not able to send SMS. She is not ready to listen about Bitcoin.

How old is your mom? I've never met anyone who's parents can't send a text message. Heck, my grandparents can do that. I wouldn't trust either of them with bitcoins, though  Grin.
22  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [VOTE] UK General Election 2015 on: May 10, 2015, 09:22:25 AM
making everyone pay a token amount like £10 might be a good ideas as it would put time wasters off, gp surgeries are packed because of idiots going in with colds, a&e departments are overcrowded because of drunks, we also need to make sure foreigners have their own healthcare before they come here

I'm not sure this is a good idea. What about people who can't really afford £10 or how about if somebody puts off going to the GP or hospital because they don't want to pay only to later find out its something serious. There are plenty of alternative ways funds can be raised without just making people pay so they'll hopefully stay away. These things always penalize the poor most.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unbelievable amount of misinformation about Bitcoin on: April 24, 2015, 09:37:17 AM
A Rothschilds is reported to have claimed:- "Allow me to issue the Currency of a Nation, and I do not care who makes the Laws". With the US Dollar in the dumps,it is way by the USA to control Global Money and Finance
[/quote]

Well yeah, that's exactly what's wrong with fiat, but bitcoin cannot be issued and controlled by a central authority so they don't need to worry about this. I doubt bitcoin had anything to do with any governments or corporations and was just invented by a smart guy trying to offer a solution to current fiat cash problems and their payment systems.
24  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: April 24, 2015, 09:34:11 AM
Many people say they will sell their coins at 1000$... But is this the spirit of bitcoin? How about you demonstrate the purchasing power of bitcoin and go out and buy something instead of just offloading them for some quick cash?

What s the difference? The retailer would sell my BTC immediately for FIAT. Whether I exchange it or them, no difference.

Exactly. IT doesn't really matter at the end of the day, but personally I would rather buy things with my coins. Hopefully if/when bitcoin hits 1k again there will be plenty more shops where you can spend your coins directly so people wont have to 'cash' them out.
25  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Miracles of Quran on: April 07, 2015, 05:03:05 PM
That picture of the mosque still standing is a perfect example how people will latch on to things whilst ignoring all the rational reasoning around it. Allah floos the place but washes away everything else but the mosque? How many innocent people were killed during the tusnami. How many other mosques have been destroyed in floods before? None? I don't think so. I'm sure plenty have been flattened by bombs before.

Lol funny stuff. They should rename the Quran to "Broscience 101, with your host Mohammad Bro Scientist".

Laughed out loud at that. Thanks.
26  Economy / Economics / Re: Wondering if Mayweather vs Pacquaio will affect bitcoin price on: April 07, 2015, 04:57:46 PM
What nonsense. How will this fight have any effect on the price of bitcoin whatsoever? I could imagine if bitcoin was being promoted alongside it somehow or the prize money was in bitcoin. I don't doubt some people will be betting on it with bitcoin but no more than usual bets on a big football game or something.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The 25 most exciting bitcoin startups on: March 24, 2015, 08:13:24 AM
Reading that article has actually given me some more hope and optimism about bitcoin now. Had no idea about some of these projects. I still think the remittance market is going to be the biggest industry for bitcoin's adoption. Surprised it hasn't taken off already, though.
28  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korea created Bitcoin to be able to maintain power? on: March 24, 2015, 08:10:20 AM
Jesus christ you watch too much Alex Jones or something. This is one of the most far fetched theories i've read and i've read a lot of them.

It's hard to tell whether these people are just trolling or crazy. I think this forum is starting to need a 'conspiracy theory' sub section. And to answer op's question, no, they're not the creator of bitcoin. They don't even have much of an infrastructure to support it given the lack of internet there.
29  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN]Cryptovpn.me Signature Campaign | Highest Rates! [posts required reduced!] on: March 10, 2015, 10:41:47 AM
Are the number of slots still correct in the op? I may take a Junior place if so.
30  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Holy shit this is creepy. 9/11. Steven Emerson Adviser for the FBI on: March 10, 2015, 10:35:25 AM
Those people who think 9/11 was a conspiracy are retarded.

Those people who believe everything their government tells them and never question it are even more retarded. I don't believe they had bombs in the towers but I don't believe it had anything to do with Bin Laden or that it didn't have anything to do with various American agencies. You've always got to look at who it benefited the most and what was the outcome? War that's what.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Moscow-Based Security Firm Reveals What May Be The Biggest NSA "Backdoor Exploit on: February 20, 2015, 12:17:14 PM
If anonymity is important to you stay away from computers and phones and use cash, end of story.

But this is not the way it should be. Clearly this is a MASSIVE breach of privacy and is downright illegal. If a citizen hacked into these companies or the government they'd get sent to jail for a very long time. People really need to be up in arms about this illegal behavior and abuses of power because where does it stop? This is far worse than what Orwell ever envisioned.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you do if you wanted to stop Bitcoin? on: February 20, 2015, 12:13:28 PM
If they want to stop it or severely limit its use they will just make it illegal to use or accept as payment or at the very least restrict its use with legislation and restrictions etc. Simple as that. I'm not sure if it'll ever grow to be a threat but it could become a alternative means but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ross Ulbricht Guilty of Everything on: February 06, 2015, 12:56:29 PM
I am not finished reading this thread, but I already have one thing to say:
Everybody, who says he deserves it, because he attempted murder is a FUCKING IDIOT.
Attempted murder was not an accusation in this trial, it has no value whatsoever in this trial.

It might not have been relevant in this trial but it is relevant to his character, so they can think he deserved prison time based on that.
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do central banks attack bitcoin? on: February 06, 2015, 12:54:16 PM
I don't think the banks are that concerned about bitcoin, or won't be for the considerable future. I think btc certainly has the potential to worry them but I think it will always be a niche thing or will operate in tandem with fiat.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regret and depression on: January 31, 2015, 10:57:48 AM
If anyone should have become an overnight millionaire it should have been me. I've been involved in virtual economies for many years now (mmorpg gold exchanges) and if anyone should have had the foresight to become an early adopter of bitcoin it should have been me but instead I was wasting my time fucking around with virtual gold. I wake up every morning feeling depressed.
Right now you can buy more than 4 Bitcoins for less than 1000$. Pretty sure most people could afford that.

4 Bitcoins means that if Bitcoin took over the world you could live in a country with the 1-5 million richest people in the entire world out of 7 billion people - you would be like a Qatar prince.

You could probably earn 4 bitcoins from signature campaigns. Some pay about 0.4 at the moment but apparently there's higher paying ones coming soon. I think you'll need to earn more than four to become rich in the future but becoming a millionaire shouldn't be a goal because you'll probably just become even more depressed when you don't become one.
36  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-09-15] two-bit-idiot: Adept - IBM, Samsung, Bitcoin? on: January 10, 2015, 11:42:55 AM

When I made similar suggestions last night on twitter, some folks immediately objected that this was not truly “Bitcoin” news because it wasn’t clear that IBM would immediately use the Bitcoin block chain.  Shocking.  This may be the biggest endorsement of Bitcoin’s underlying protocol yet — from not one, but two major global technology companies.  Not to mention, Adept may use the Bitcoin block chain itself.

This is what I want to know. Are they going to be using the actual bitcoin blockchain or creating their own. It's nice to see people are seeing the potential in the technology but surely we want them to use the actual bitcoin one?
37  Economy / Economics / Re: Price drop : bitcoinners happy ? on: January 10, 2015, 11:37:56 AM
Now we can buy more bitcoin for cheap!

so did you buy?

I hate to say it, but I've been hearing this for so long now, that I have to think -- most with this attitude already bought in (or bought back in) a long time ago, at much higher prices.

But there's always a continuous flow of people waiting to get into bitcoin so this is their time. Regardless of the price some people still can see the value of bitcoin and it's possible that the price wont always keep dropping. IF it catches on hopefully the opposite will happen.
38  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling text message confirmations. on: December 28, 2014, 07:07:18 PM
Text message confirmations? What's that? You mean like when you sign up to a website and you they need your number? 0.01 seems pretty expensive for that to be honest.
39  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info Bussiness model on: December 28, 2014, 07:00:04 PM
I never understand how sites like this can make money merely from tiny ads. How many people actually even click on them? Baffles me.
40  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Some services take security more seriously than others on: December 15, 2014, 01:50:38 PM
Say what you want about the recent blockchain.info trouble but at least they can be trusted to make amends and reimburse customers lost funds. Can't really say that for many other web wallets, and their bounty program gives me more faith.
