21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Traders, the Halving is Coming, Let's Talk Strategy (and Events) on: March 26, 2024, 09:33:40 AM
I witness a lot of Bitcoin halving in the past and most of the actual Bitcoin halving event doesn’t result to mega pump but the opposite. Pump comes few months after the halving.

For me the best strategy is still the basic buy and hold no matter what the price after the halving because the price usually slow grow until the following year. I don’t have plan to sold my Bitcoin anytime after halving and focus on accumulating more using my business profit as well as my other holdings on shitcoin.

Nice strategy you have mate, quite similar to what i have been using but with slight addition. While waiting for post halving pump, I am earning some APR on my BTC holdings on Bitget by subscribing to their flexi savings. This keeps me in good profit ahead of the bullrun proper.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / VOYA: Arising horizon in the blockchain space. on: March 26, 2024, 07:10:51 AM
Blockchain technology has seen significant success and adoption over the last couple of years. Bitcoin & Ethereum blockchain has been the front runners but more innovations are emerging on a daily basis with solutions to some of the deficiencies of this two leading technology.

It is worthy to note that other blockchains like Solana, polygon and several others has equally made their marks in the blockchain and crypto world but a project that caught my attention recently is VOYA.

VOYA is the first fair launch BRC-20 token on Merlin chain. Merlin Chain isn't just another blockchain; it's a revolutionary Bitcoin Layer2 solution integrating ZK-Rollup technology, decentralized oracles, and on-chain BTC fraud proof modules. Powered by Bitmap Tech, Merlin Chain aims to enhance Bitcoin's protocols and products, making transactions faster, cheaper, and more scalable.

Merlin blockchain is currently among the top sought after blockchain by devs and VOYA been the first BRC-20 token on it is poised for greatness in the long run.

Currently listed on several top exchanges with Bitget the latest addition to the list, I think this project has a great potential but will like to know your thoughts about the project.
23  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is It Time to Buy More BTC? on: March 23, 2024, 10:47:59 AM
I've been watching with interest as Bitcoin has pulled back over the past week after hitting new highs. Part of me wants to accumulate more while the price is down, but I also wonder if we may see it drop further in the short term.
Well, then satisfy the desire of "part of me" to buy bitcoin. Buy part of bitcoin (using part of your funds). Smiley

Well there are good arguments on both sides. On one hand, the long-term outlook for Bitcoin remains very bullish as adoption increases. Even major institutions continue entering space, and trends like halvings may lead to new all-time highs over the coming years. But on other hand, factors like the upcoming Fed meeting could continue to bring volatility in the short-term.
Buying bitcoin with part of your funds (half) will solve this problem with the “to buy or not to buy” dilemma. If bitcoin rolls back, you will lose only part of the amount and with the rest you can buy bitcoin at a cheap price. If bitcoin rises in price even more, then multiply your money (partially). Even though you only invest part of your money, you will still make a profit. There is no need to be greedy and try to earn (increase) with all your money.

I also think this price drop may present a good buying opportunity for someone looking to DCAing and I'm also looking to buy more BTC especially since BTC's price is low and there's zero fees on Bitget. Of course, as with any investment, only put in what you can afford to lose.
I am a proponent of the idea that should invest with the goal of winning, not losing.

So, even if it dips further short-term, history tells us Bitcoin tends to go up in the long run.
Well then why are you asking that question from the topic title? In the long term, now is the best time to buy bitcoin.

I quite agree with you, i think BTC was overstretched in the last 2 months hence the reason for the adjustment in price. The next move may see BTC eyeing $100k hence its best to accumulaate every dip right now and fortunately, there is opportunity to trade at zero fees courtesy of Bitget.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you continue to trust Trust Wallet? on: March 23, 2024, 08:57:53 AM
For greater control and security, we consider managing our crypto in a personal crypto wallet instead of leaving it on CEXs. To interact directly with blockchains and manage crypto, we need a crypto wallet application. In the past, I used the MEW website for Ethereum account management. Since 2020, I've preferred mobile apps, specifically TrustWallet on iOS. I still rely on it on my old iPhone for occasional crypto trades.

While I've enjoyed using TrustWallet as a regular user - it's fast, user-friendly, and supports a wide range of blockchains [1] - recent security concerns require attention: SECBIT Labs, a security research firm (not affiliated with the SEC), identified a potential vulnerability in TrustWallet's iOS app. This issue allegedly stemmed from code using functions meant only for testing. These functions could have generated weak private keys, making it easier for attackers to steal crypto from affected accounts. The timeframe in question is for wallets created between February and August of 2018 [2].

While I'm glad I missed the 2018 TrustWallet vulnerability, it raises concerns about potential unknown issues. After all, even established hardware wallets like Ledger had problems recently [3].

While I've been a loyal TrustWallet user, recent events have prompted me to diversify my crypto storage. I'm trying out SafePal on iOS for additional security. Hardware wallets have also piqued my interest, and I plan to research and invest in one soon using some of my uptrend gains. There's no denying the convenience of mobile crypto wallets, but it's a trade-off for the enhanced security hardware wallets offer.
I would like to know your views on crypto wallets:
  • Are you using TrustWallet? Will you continue to trust TrustWallet?
  • Are you using other crypto wallet apps?
  • Is a hardware wallet really necessary for your crypto investment?

Trust wallet was my first wallet when i first entered the crypto space and i had no problem with it, quite easy to use but as time passes by, i found metamask more secured and migrated my asset there. Though i still use my trust wallet till-date especially for airdrop purposes but i have recently found Bitget wallet more appealiing due to more enhanced security features and other functionalities which gives it an edge over metamask and trust wallet. For me, one should only think of hard wallet when they have huge amount of crypto especially institutional clients like micro-strategy and not for those with less than $100k worth of crypto.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / OKX announced exit from India and Australia market on: March 22, 2024, 01:56:41 PM
Few months ago, about 9 crypto exchanges including Binance, Kucoin, HTX (Huobi), MEXC and other were delisted by Indian government due to regulatory compliance issue but the likes of OKX, Bitget, WaziriX and few others were allowed to carry on operations but unfortunately, OKX has now announced its exit from the India market and gave a deadline of April 30th for users to withdraw their funds.

The reason for the exit is in connection to regulatory compliance as Indian government continues to intensify effort to regulate digital asset providers (exchanges) by including them in its AML framework dated back in March 2023 and requiring the exchanges to comply with the Financial Intelligence Unit India (FIU IND) standards.

In a similar development, the exchange has also exited the Australian market, stopping most of its major products including; Futures, copy trading and BOT trading as of March 20th 2024.

This new development has raised concerns from both the Indian and Australia users with potential of missing out as the market recovers from the recent adjustment of BTC and major altcoins.

While regulations has become very necessary in the crypto space due to past record of frauds from some exchanges, do you think there is something to worry about from crypto exchanges evading regulations?
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Airdrops are getting easier to get this year on: March 22, 2024, 01:42:38 PM
Many airdrops in the market are good to hold and getting them may look easier to those that have the time to keep farming to keep accumulating enough for the launch. Many of them comes like mining and having the time to keep doing it for over a year or a year plus before the testnet would be launched then after miners could receive there own tokens for the mainmet.
Getting from money in the market is becoming easier and everything is changing very fast from doing airdrops and getting tokens to hold till the project become launched.
Well, not everyone has the luxury of time to keep farming airdrops for months and years. I prefer to just stake some tokens like BGB or BNB during lauchpools and launchpads to get decent project airdrops. Although this method is different from those looking to get airdrop for free. I used one and half years to farm CORE but in the end, the token allocation isn't worth it That's why i prefer exchange airdrops events because it doesn't take much time, max of 2 weeks in most cases. I saw on twitter 2 days ago that Bitget wallet is going to airdrop the BWB tokens to eligible users and the criteria are quite simple. You might wanna take advantage of this looking at the performance of the exchange token BGB over the last one year.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you find new meme coins early? on: March 19, 2024, 02:48:50 PM
I'm a certified meme coin hunter, and my radar is always on the lookout for those hidden gems that might become the next Pepe. Speaking of which, I remember stumbling upon Pepe on Twitter when the buzz and sentiment were off the charts, and I just couldn't resist aping in, and it paid off!

Twitter is just one of the treasure troves, but there are plenty of other ways to spot those potential success stories. So, my fellow crypto meme seekers, I want to hear your strategies. How do you go about discovering those up-and-coming meme coins before they skyrocket? Care to share your secret sauce?

I don't think Twitter is a good source of information to get adequate information to be early on a project. Am not saying it doesn't count but most times when a token start trending on Twitter, most people already invested in it especially memecoin so that vulnerable people can buy the hype. If there is a pre-sale, you can be sure people wanna make their money after the listing on CEXs. DEX is a good place to identify those 100 to 1000× memecoin but oftentimes there are lots of rugpulls which still makes it wise to invest on memecoins that is trading on top exchanges like Bitget, Binance or Bybit. I have been lucky to ape and make decent money from memecoin courtesy of Bitget early listing. I bought BOME on the exchange immediately after listing and it did instant 7×. So I think it's better to get information from trusted and reputable CEX because they have listing teams that verify a project before listing it. Although not all the tokens do perform very well and that's where individual DYOR also comes in.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why you need to have spare USDT in this bullrun. on: March 16, 2024, 06:33:55 PM
If you're a spot trader then you truly need to have some stable coins prepared for you to buy those altcoins that you have spotted. As for these new projects that are being released in market, it's true that they're being the center of the attraction lately because every investor thinks that the earliest that you can get, the better opportunity and return of investment that you'll get. And as you've mentioned that BOME, I've just noticed it and Binance is also going to list it but not with spot but with perpetuals so, I guess that the exchanges aren't also missing the whole point of these newly released memecoins in the market. For that specific memecoin that's newly released, I've seen that it's listed on many centralized exchanges already.

Binance listing BOME in there derivative market is a big plus to the token so there is still a lot to expect from the token in the future. Though the price is retracing after the bullish move. Unfortunately, I didn't buy it when it was listed on Bitget. A couple of my friends who got in early made easy 7× of their investment.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / $BOME continues to BOOM. on: March 16, 2024, 09:37:43 AM
While the crypto market was bleeding yesterday with BTC retracing back to $66k dragging many altcoins & memecoin to the red zones. Solana based memecoin $BOME did more than 5× upon its initial listing on Bitget.

Created by a renowned crypto artist Darkfarms, BOME raised over 10k SOL in 24hrs which were added to the liquidity pool making the token the largest liquidity pool of any memecoin launched on Solana till date.

With a massive 100× from its launch 2 days ago, BOME boost of current $260M mcap compared to the $2.6M mcap before launch and an impressive $32M liquidity pool which now surpassed that of PANDORA.

The popularity of BOME is unmatched and the token currently boost of over $35.8k on-chain holders and $500M trading volume in less than 24hrs since TGE, BOME is showing signs of being the top memecoin in the solana ecosystem but only time shall tell if it will flip BONK eventually.

The social sentiment is massive no wonder the project gains exceed 70× in less than 24hrs of listing with observers keenly noting that the project has 13× growth potential compared to PEPE.

With Binance now announcing that BOME is available on their derivative platform, we could be seeing the token hit another milestone records in couple of days from here hence I think it's still a good time to enter the train and be among the early birds.

Anyone out here riding the bullish wave of BOME. Com'on share the excitement in the comment section.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why you need to have spare USDT in this bullrun. on: March 15, 2024, 11:38:55 PM
Couple of weeks ago, a friend told me about a new memecoin Gecko Inu (GEC). As at that time, the mcap was below $2.5M & I was like this could be another rugpull but as an investor, it's sometimes necessary to take some calculated risk so i invested some few $$$.

Surprisingly, the token started to trend and in less than 33 days, mcap has now surpassed $16M with prominent exchanges now listing it. My 2024 would have been sealed had it been I also took heed to invest in BRETT and BOME which have equally done massively well.

With the realization of what appeared to be dream, it looks like some new projects could be the centre of attraction in this coming bullrun as investors are looking for ways to maximize profits by being among the early birds in a particular project hence the reason you need to have some USDT kept aside to take advantage of this evolving new projects. What are your thoughts about this? Let's discuss.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which game currently have you glued to your screen. on: March 15, 2024, 04:28:59 PM
Honestly, the gaming industry is becoming bigger and better as more investors continues to pump in more money towards the sector. Recently I played some games from the $BLOCK, $DOT and $OGC gaming platform and I had a treat in a long while especially with the WARPATH game. This arouse my interest to explore more gaming project and I discovered another web3 metaverse game project called FlappyMoonbird.

I recently played their AI Birdnopoly and FlappyMoonbird demo release and it was quite thrilling. The interesting part is that players gets to play for free and earn mystery boxes and also earn $FMB tokens which is already tradable on top tier exchanges.

Which other games are you playing right now and earning free tokens?

Since I'm not good a gamer, I prefer getting into gaming tokens earlier. The strategy worked for MAVIA, PIXEL, Bigtime. Maybe I'll consider FMB if you give more details or probably provide a link to get more..like where it's trading etc..

Haha, perhaps you got lucky, I think it's best to invest in sectors you are conversant with to mitigate your risk. Knowing much about the games will give you a clue of how receptive the gaming community will be towards the token. As a gamer, I don't also invest in all the gaming project I play because not all of them are worth the money. Sometimes the fun is what I enjoy just like the WARPATH game that's making me stayed glued to my PC. As fr FMB, I haven't invested in it yet because am still observing its performance. Although it's now listed on two major Cex Bitget an Bybit but you need to DYOR well before opting to invest. Though there is positive sentiment towards it which is a good sign.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will $Brett be the next $PEPE? this may be an opportunity on: March 15, 2024, 09:34:58 AM
How did you say its the next pepe? Pepe is a popular meme on eth chain while brett is on sol so it cant be the next Pepe maybe it can be the next Bonk since its on the same network. I saw this meme before on dexscreener/birdeye but I dont find it interesting to buy well its up to you, very new meme your early if this is legit one.

Well looking at solana ecosystem rapid growth, most of the tokens on the chain have been doing pretty well. I faded BONK when it was below 50M mcap but look at where it is now, I have taken time to study BRETT and i think it's worth every dollar because it's gaining so much traction already and at the same time getting the attention of top tier cex like Bitget to list it. Just 20 days of launch, the token has done over 1332 times its value and the current holders exceeds 17,600. NFA though but i think we could see another billion dollar project in couple of months from here
33  Economy / Marketplace / Passively earning in crypto without trading. on: March 13, 2024, 09:01:58 AM
There is a lot of transformation and development that has happened in the crypto space over the last decade. Back in the days, investors have to buy BTC and HODL for long timeand wait for the bullrun to earn. Along the line, crypto trading came up which has been an integral part of crypto since its introduction.

In order to bring more passive means of earning, staking, savings and lots of innovation came up to reward investors who are not willing to embark on trading but also want to earn from their crypto holdings. This strategy was quite more rampant during the bear market where products like Binance launchpool, high yield earns and Bitget sharkfin, dual investment and the rest where the best strategy to navigate the storm of the season.

With the bull market insight, seems a lot of people are enjoying the pumps from several coins they have invested in during the bear market but for those that didn't invest during that period, this product can still be utilized as the APRs have increased significantly unlike the bear market.

Or are there other passive ways of earning you will recommend for those that already missed the ongoing pump and are skeptical of price dumping on them?

where are Nigerians trading P2P at the moment?

I think the OP already mention Bitget, Bybit and OKX. From my experience, Bybit has the highest traffic for now but users are complaining of scam and poor customer service. Perhaps you should try out Bitget
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Still Dead? on: March 12, 2024, 12:54:43 PM
I remember this disgusting phrase “Bitcoin is dead” They used it on our heads several times over many years to spread fear and panic, but they failed. Yes, there are many who became frightened and got rid of their Bitcoin, but now they inevitably cry over the precious opportunity they lost.

This cycle, investing in Bitcoin is no longer very profitable because we are approaching the peak, although it is still possible to collect some profits, but not like those who invested from the beginning. Regret will befall all those who believed the rumors and did not overcome their fear.

Not everyone sold their BTC because of negative news. Someone like me was forced to dispose nearly 95% of my crypto bag during COVID and even after the pandemic, things were a bit difficult to have extra money to buy as recession struck many countries. Fortunately i was able to start up by farming airdrop which really brought decent gains and then i sold them to buy some BTC. I also participated in some launchpads and launchpools events on Bitget and Binance which really helped to increase my crypto bag.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to be cautious: Everyone is not market expert on: March 09, 2024, 01:45:25 PM
From past few weeks whenever I open any browser or social media all I could see is some random blogs and news about Altcoins which will have massive pump and which coins I have to invest.

Folks, it's times to be more cautious than every and never go with any random prediction provided over telegram or through blogs as it's a routine that once the crypto market is trending upwards and bullrun is expected we see a lot of experts in the market via various channels like Youtube, Twitter, Telegram, Discord and WhatsApp group sharing random coins with catchy headlines like "Top 5 altcoins with 100x pump", "Whales are investing in these altcoins", "Altcoins which will go to moon", etc.

Please try to understand these are the same people who spreads fud during bear market and impersonates as experts.

Don't go with any such predictions and rather do your own research because I have seen people randomly investing into shitcoins just because it's mentioned over Twitter and the person who has tweeted has huge followers. There will be so much of deceiving as they will share some 10 coins and even if one of them prospers they will use it as upselling point.

You are absolutely right. Most of the KOL on various SNS telling people to invest in a particular coin already invested in it a long time ago and want people to invest so they use them as exit liquidity. It's important one do his own research properly and also seek for guidance if there is no experience but not from social media. For now i do my analysis myself and also take a clue from some top exchange like Bitget and Binance when it comes to new projects because they top researches that looks into a project before it's listed on their platforms
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1 year of accepting crypto payment in my fashion store on: March 09, 2024, 01:01:22 PM
It's a year since I started accepting crypto as payment . I will show you how I operate and also how you can accept crypto payments as a small business owner. I run a fashion store, we make African prints, suits, shirts and trousers. This is a popular business in Nigeria, I needed a edge in the market to better my competitors. A greater percentage of my customers are within the age of 20 - 47, this category are people who are tech savvy and open-minded. Nigeria is one of the biggest markets for Bitcoin. This survey led me to make the decision of accepting Bitcoin payments in my business to serve the increasing number of crypto-paying customers.  I recently made a catalog of Bitcoin wears available for preorders https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5121680.msg60641685#msg60641685. It's been a one hell of a journey and I would like to share with y'all.

How to Get Started

Step 1

Choose a good wallet
Use a wallet you're familiar with. Do not be experimental with wallets, use a highly secured wallet and keep your keys close to your heart.

Step 2

Training my staff

Keeping in mind I can't be everywhere at once, my staff needed to have basic knowledge about crypto. So they can offer assistance to  customers when they need it and also show the newbies how to buy Bitcoin and make payment. Quality customer service is important, you don't want your staff to look confused on the job. That’s poor customer service.  Bitcoin transactions are irreversible, you can't afford to make mistakes.

Step 3

Advertising & Promotions

Getting word out that you now accept crypto payment is important. I rebranded my shopping bags to include crypto images. Also I had a the billboard in front replaced with an new one that says we accept crypto.   Discounts on certain items were given to encourage more customers to use crypto as payment. When a customer buys goods worth more than $100 worth of Bitcoin, they are given a free voucher to shop $10 free.

A typical crypto transaction at my store look like this:

1.The cashier gives the customers a Bitcoin QR code to make payment

2. The QR code is customized to tell customer’s crypto wallet where to send the bitcoins and how much to send.

3. The Bitcoin payment is confirmed by the cashier.

Challenges

The only down side I have experienced is the price volatility of Bitcoin. This has a huge effect on the business, because you need cash to run the business. Do you convert to fiat immediately or do you hodl the crypto payments you receive? If you choose the latter, how do you keep record of your actual profits? For me, I save my money in USD because of the unstableness of the naira. Accepting crypto payments has been of great benefit to me, crypto doesn't have an off-day like the banks do not work on weekends and the network on weekends are usually terrible, crypto payments saves me the bank trouble.

Advice

You don't have to know everything to begin, just start. When I started, I used electrum wallet to receive payments. Then I got to know about lightning network, which I adopted. I have recently become acquainted with a crypto exchange in Nigeria. I'm considering a deal to create a merchant account with them as a payment gateway.

This is really nice and the strategy is perfect especially for Nigeria market. I could remember how crypto was of great help during covid 19 when banks where no where to be found. The majority of the youth are also keeping their funds in crypto due to some unscrupulous police officers and sars who try to take advantage of them when they collect their phones and drain their accounts. Though we are still a little behind in terms of technology, I travelled to Thailand few weeks ago and i was able to use my Bitget card on the Bitcoin ATM. Hopefully we can get to this point where crypto ATM will be available but i doubt if our government will allow that.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does any meme coin has the ability to challenge bitcoin dominance ? on: March 09, 2024, 12:48:22 PM
What utility do meme coins offer?

For a project to challenge and usurp, it would need to offer more utilities than Bitcoin does or improve on the aspect of decentralization, security and immutability.

Meme coins like many other altcoins are purely for speculation, causing the changes in price.

BTC mcap takes almost 57% of the entire crypto market so the whole altcoins and memcoin combined can't even challenge BTC talk more of a single memecoin. DOGE with the highest mcap among all the memecoin has a mcap of less than $21M. So i don't see any reason for comparison.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are people still using bitcoin ATMs? on: March 09, 2024, 11:47:57 AM
Hi guys,

I've been long fascinated with bitcoin ATM machines and love to spot them wherever I go traveling but haven't seen one for a long time in New York – are there any of them left in the city at all?

I keep hearing anecdotal stories of people using them but wonder if they are still considered a good way to buy bitcoin, given the steep fees these machines often charge.

Have you ever used a bitcoin ATM in NYC?

I haven't been to NYC before but i was in Thailand few weeks ago for vacation and i saw a couple of people using it.
