No worries.
You wouldn't be behind because there is no such thing as behind in eve. Its not like WOW where everyone is a level 80 now and has the best gear and every dungeon has been done. Eve is a true sandbox and things are always changing based on choices of players, corps and alliances.
Eve has too many things to do and since there are so many varied players, in different professions and different levels of play in the game it impossible to be behind in the game. (Most the content is also player driven and encompasses many different "skilled" or "leveled" players from noob to 120m skill point toons.
From the moment you start the game you will find 100s of things to do, some things do take longer then others and it definitely not a game were you will be able to do everything available in 6 months or even a year. You may find you never end up doing some of the things in the game depending on if you like one aspect.
Best advise though eve is a very Social game if you want to enjoy it to its fullest get into a good corp (with voice comms) or even one of the noob building corps like (Eve University).
Totally offtopic, but I've always wanted to try out EVE but I've heard that it's almost pointless to try to get into it now considering how far behind I would be (games been out for years and is very complex)
Thoughts?
And sorry for the random derailment.
