What new things will bring the next release to the coin ?

Why don't you take a guess? Wink

Can't wait for the new release! Hope it's even more good stuff promoting widespread adoption. What I would love to see in the future are linked wallets, so that I can easily get PND from my main account to the my phone wallet account
In the words of cadexn, holographic dancing PND bears.  Cheesy

I Love holographic dancing pandas!

I agree. I posted a while back that the OP should add the coins being requested, and delete the ones with no votes such as Pinkcoin and Battlecoin. Still no changes to the poll.

But then I might want to change my vote...

I was really surprised that PandaCoin is so popular Smiley.

1. It seems to be a fair coin. I will buy some of them.
2. What has the panda to do with money? Has it any special markets? Or is it just the panda because everybody likes pandas? Grin

Thank you.

Couldn't agree more Smiley.  The physical panda coin is actually a Chinese bullion coin and PandaCoin has a strong and active community in Asia.  And yeah, everyone likes pandas Wink

What different ways do we have for bringing PND from USD?
Can someone add to this list if there are other good options?
I am trying to diversify the means I have available or purchases but have had limited exposure.

buyPnd.com
  • paypal
  • super easy
  • direct to PND

coinbase.com
  • linked bank account
  • several day verification
  • strict instant buy first month
  • slow transfer out
  • requires going through exchange to purchase PND

virwox.com
  • paypal or credit cards
  • high fees on purchase
  • requires multiple converstions to get BTC
  • requires going through exchange to purchase PND

Didn't know people still used virwox  Cheesy

I have't used it yet but it is in my pocket.  Still a relatively quick way in afaik.  The other two I have used multiple times.

Not true. Maieuticoin was also 100% mined out as MMXIV before the switch to Maieuticoin

I would also argue all day about the most secure. Not only are we forked from the newest PPC directly (not a clone of a clone), but we also offer offline staking, which results in far greater blockchain security than ever seen before

I am new so sorry if this is a dumb question.  Wouldn't offline staking easily confuse a lost wallet with offline staking and then really be wrong on the blockchain security /distribution?

LibrexCoin all the way!

I have taken it upon myself to ask questions.  To help educate me.  Why Librexcoin?

I'm going to be needing some help, from anyone that has experience coding the Pandabank or otherwise is computer savvy.

I, without thinking, changed the hardware inside of my machine. The two hard disk drives I had in there were not able to boot because of this change. I wiped the one without pandabank on it and had to do a fresh install on it. If I open the old hard drive which I have not touched, using the other hard drive as the master, I can see Pandabank. I can open it but it gives me a new address. I have a (fairly old) back up of pandabank on that hard drive's desktop, though I don't know where that would be located.

I'm trying to move my coins to an exhange while I mess around with the drives to avoid losing them. How should I proceed to recover that address?

First, stop until we can give you an answer...I don't want to see you lose it.  I will write a response in a sec...

Don't worry, I stopped as soon as I realized it wasn't going to transfer. I'm sitting tight, no rush.

Great sorry I sent you a message about joining the #PandacoinPND on freenode.  If you can that would be easier, otherwise I can help but it will be slower because I have to wait between posts.

Anyway, what is happening is your new harddrive has created a new wallet.dat in your /Users/<user>/AppData/Roaming/Pandacoin folder.  You need to find that file from your other drive and copy it to the new drive.  I recommend though to find ALL copies of wallet.dat you can and back them up to external media first just in case you copy the wrong file to the wrong place.

Also instead of overwriting the wallet.dat that is on the new drive, first rename the one that is there...again just in case.

So ultimately you are looking for <olddriveletter>/Users/<user>/AppData/Roaming/Pandacoin/Wallet.dat and copying it to <newdriveletter>/Users/<user>/AppData/Roaming/Pandacoin/Wallet.dat

http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coins#blackcoin

The author of this page didn't do anything except scan the blockchain.  Apparently knew nothing about the history, devs or great community.  Yes, there was a pre-mine but it was announced, it was open and at least a thousand of us were mining millions of blackcoins during the pre-mine.  Active devs like rat4 (PoS, PoS 2.0), David Zimbeck (BlackHalo smart contracts, NightTrader) and Blackwave Labs (Blackbit, Ruby Wallet, BC-centric Exchange) continue to work this coin.

Yet your official topic said "no premine". this smells even more like a huge coverup for a scam.

BlackCoin had no premine, and also the analysis you cited doesn't claim that. Every initial distribution model of a PoS coin happened in a short time, in BlackCoin through a short PoW phase. People quickly use the term "instamining" which is actually a term for PoW coins with a ridiculous block halvening policy.

The current distribution of BlackCoin is better than in most alt coins. Regardless if you think that BlackCoin is a good investment or not, you will hardly find a second PoS coin code base that contributed so much to the cryptocurrency community. Several coins in the voting are BlackCoin forks btw.

Pandacoin's distribution phase was 95 days long. 95 days of fair mining during our POW phase.

So, "every distribution model of a PoS coin" did not happen in a short time. Ours didn't. Smiley

That's why Pandacoin is the fairest and most secure PoS coin in the world.

noerc, what was the length of the PoW phase for BlackCoin?

Note: I hold mostly PND, but I AM interested in the real debate and answers to this poll.  I am new enough to not be opinionated yet.

Nice to hear that Pandacoin had a long PoW phase. I think miners generally have a more speculative incentive when mining a PoS coin that is in PoW phase compared to when mining a PoW coin. It will be interesting to evaluate in a year how different distribution phases influenced the final distribution.

BlackCoin had 10000 PoW blocks, the first was mined on 24th of February and the last was mined on 1st of May (60 sec block time). Each PoW block up to block 5000 contained 10000 BC, which was then halved to 5000 BC until block 10000, resulting in a total cap of roughly 75M BC. A giant hype after the PoS phase was entered lead to a massive raise and sell off which further influenced the distribution (hard to say how exactly).

My personal opinion is that once there is one PoS coin that attracts a market capitalization similar to Bitcoin then there will be a storm of people trying to exploit every critical aspect of the protocol that exists. And there are well known problems with PoS. Focusing the development on security is much more important in PoS coins than in Bitcoin, and even there it is the primary topic. And I see BlackCoin following exactly this path.

Thank you!

I just realized it says 30 activity...not sure what that means.  I have 20 posts but only 15 activity.  Seems hopeless.  Also it is annoying that just because I am not talkative implies that I am new or uninformed.  Its like age discrimination.

I like it when the devs keep doing stuff <3

That could be anything though.  Like maybe he cleaned out his nose.

This poll should have a different name, something like
"Vote for the coin you have the most of"
