21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICG][X11] IncognitoCoin | Pos 5% | Bittrex | on: December 07, 2014, 06:58:16 PM
I am currently communicating with the ICG developer team and with a new developer to potentially join the Incognito coin team. Currently, advanced wallet functions are being developed and more information will be released as the features are being ironed out.

With the addition of new members into the ICG team, it might be worth considering to divide the ICG team into two sections. The existing ICG team could concentrate on the front-end and back-end of new wallet services like the developing brain-app for ICG. Another team could consist of wallet developers creating new innovative features for ICG or improving existing infrastructure.  I understand that Hectortilla and Fernandox have either worked on the ATM API or developed new wallet features. I believe that the community is sufficient in size to work on merchant and user adoption. A ICG foundation of sort could be created through communication in the ICG forum. Desil could continue to create advertising material and coordinate both development teams. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the suggestion. Once the potential developer officially joins the ICG team then I will seriously consider splitting the team into two focuses of development. This will speed up the pace of development and allow us to create new innovative features. I will release more information once everything is coordinated.

That sounds like a good plan. ATM integration is rather unique so it would be nice to see that further worked upon.

I'm overall impressed with the  results the ICG team have achieved thus far. I'll seek to get ICG accepted into alt-coin gambling sites.

I've already taken advantage of the 10% discount shopping at bitcoinshop.com by using ICG. Perhaps in the future I'll be able to withdrawal ICG from one of the participating ATMs near Amsterdam but I'll post a video once I do.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICG][X11] IncognitoCoin | Pos 5% | Bittrex | on: December 07, 2014, 05:20:24 AM

There's already been some discussion in the ICG forum. The ICG team seems coordinated in terms of development but the forum is a good place for discussion of volunteer work.

The most innovative feature of ICG is the advanced ATM API developed by Hectortilla which is already used in GeneralByte ATMs. It should be easy to get listed on other ATM providers or other companies providing payment solutions as a Web merchant API is also available. There's already a steady stream of merchants accepting ICG according to the twitter feed so that aspect is being taken care of.

You have a point. Looking back through the thread, most of the videos pointed out the ATM integration so it would make sense to advertise that fact to distinguish ICG for achieving innovation. There's certainly significant value in the current payment API that was developed and used by ATMs and web merchants. Making the most use out of it as possible in merchant adoption would be to ICG's benefit and there's always the new developments to look forward to.

I've  also noticed the steady build up of buy support 3.4 BTC + which is relatively high compared to the marketcap. ICG is gaining new users as more merchants are accepting incognito coin. The coin also has an edge against other alt-coins since it's accepted at several ATM locations through Europe and perhaps later expansion will reach into the U.S.A. There's a very significant poetential user-base for an altcoin which makes payments at physical locations as seemless as possible. The current availability of paper wallets, mobile wallets, ATMs, and a Web wallet for ICG seems to accomplish this.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICG][X11] IncognitoCoin | Pos 5% | Bittrex | on: December 04, 2014, 10:41:04 PM
Yeah, It shouldn't be too hard to get ICG further accepted by merchants and businesses. I will do the same and post back news later.

I'll match your offer and do the same. The API offered by cointopay should offer easy integration of ICG into web merchants and services.

Right, also the mobile wallet offered by cointopay for ICG helps too. The web wallet works great and it should make ICG more accessible to others.

I'm going to take advantage of the cheap ICG prices once my BTC buy order is filled. The price shouldn't stay at this level for long once developments are released soon.

Indeed, I'm going to do the same. The ICG team has delivered a lot thus far.

It's already trending upwards, I expect a significant boost as more features are released.

Most definitely, I would argue that the ICG team is one of the most trusted and transparent Dev teams. I have full confidence in them.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICG][X11] IncognitoCoin | Pos 5% | Bittrex | on: December 02, 2014, 07:02:15 PM

Keep up the good work! I'll try to get in contact with merchants and increase acceptance of ICG.

Getting listed on gambling websites and other forms of e-commerce will also help.

I'm using the web-wallet from cointopay for ICG but it would be neat to have more options later on.

Chedigital is currently working on a different approach towards a web-wallet platform by creating a "Brain-wallet app" which he proposed in his latest update.

Great update neutral, and thanks for all your hard work man! Transparency is great for all involved.

I have been away due to timelines at work shrinking, and having to jump on a few tasks that were unplanned. Therefore I have not be able to post at my usual pace. Below is a few updates on the state of the ICG web wallet development.

Update
The initial concept was to use a RABBITMQ cluster hosted locally with a live ICG node with  actual hot coins, 4 boxes protected behind a firewall, and host the front end of the application in an outside network. While the web wallet approach allow us to roll out a system relatively quickly, its not in the best interest of the ICG community. A centralized web wallet becomes a huge security liability for the ICG community. If the main server were to be compromised all users could potentially loose their coins by any zero day exploit. Just look at all the exchanges that have become insolvent due to hacks or leaks [1].

Going forward, a simpler approach for all involved would be for us to develop a platform based on an offline brain wallet. A brain wallet with an offline app similar to keybase's warp wallet [2], an offline warp wallet that can run on all platforms will give users a secure way to store their coins without having to worry about a centralized server being comprised. A warp wallet approach will allow user to keep their private keys not the server. Everyone can sleep better a night, Smiley. [3]

The above approach while more secure will impact our original timelines, so we will be regrouping resources Monday, and release a new updated timeline for a Warp/brain Wallet for ICG that runs on popular mobile platforms & desktop. We have a new member, that has been active on #ICG, who has been helping us organize the development process, and documentation. Anyone else that wants to help, please join us at #ICG, stop by and join the conversation.

Sounds interesting. The Brain wallet app idea should allow for a more decentralized and secure process of storing ICG.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to make both a web-wallet and brain wallet app to give users different levels of security and convenience based on their preferences.

Likewise, it was a pleasure working with you. The ICG team is still actively developing and more news will be released soon.

I think there's a lot of room to expand on ICG. I'm interested in the developments.
I'm glad to be apart of ICG and optimistic for the upcoming plans of infrastructure and development.

I agree, a robust infrastructure is crucial and I'm certain that the future developments will add on to it.

Can you explain me what is special in ICG? What are the advantages?

Presently, Incognito coin offers a encrypted stealth address Tx system allowing for anonymous transactions. However Incognito coin is unique in that it's one of the few alt-coins accepted by GeneralByte ATMs located throughout Europe and already a mobile wallet and web wallet are available through the payment processor Cointopay.

As a community based coin, ICG has received development from  Hectortilla, Fernando, and Chedigital. ICG is also accepted by numerous merchants either directly such as http://bitscoinshop.com.br/en/ or through the payment processor Cointopay. There is also a significant focus on marketing and adoption which will provide a viable future for the coin beyond speculative investing. A "brain-wallet" is also in development alongside other features planned for release.

Personally, I have invested in ICG because there's no single point of failure due to open access for development and improvement by the community.

Nice post. There's definately a lot of upside to ICG in both the short term and long term prospects.

I have released an ICG logo sample which is one of many to be used in upcoming advertisements and promotion of Incognito Coin.

Nice work, any efforts to increase exposure of Incognito coin goes a long way.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which alts are left that have some serious promise and WHY?? in DETAIL. on: November 18, 2014, 01:30:45 AM
I would argue that Incognito Coin is one of the most successful community-run coins thus far. Most of their efforts is directed at merchant adoption and real-world use beyond speculative trading. It's accepted at GeneralByte ATMs, Cointopay, and various online merchants. A modified web-wallet similar to a "brain-wallet" is being developed in addition to improvements focusing on core functionality beyond its stealth address tx system.

There seemed to be a minor dump, but it's a good opportunity to buy more cheap coins.

Update:

I'm currently working on a new infomercial and logo string series for ICG in preparation of future promotion and advertisement.
The new videos should be posted next week. Efforts are still underway for continual merchant acceptance in addition to the "brain-wallet" development by Chedigital.

Good. That will help increase exposure.

That's great news. I am a long term suporter of Incognito coin which is based on the fundamentals of a transparent, community involved cryptocurrency.

I agree. The open communication and greater focus on actual use of the coin is very important towards it's succuss.

Indeed, the ICG forum is open for further discussion: http://forum.icg.io/index.php

anyone have any doubts on being added to blocknet?

It's hard to say if being a part of the BlockNet would be a good move or not. What we do know is this, all of the coins that are a part of the BlockNet have lost value. XC, being the "leader" of the BlockNet has lost a lot of value! SDC dropped out of the BlockNet and at the moment, is rising in value. I think the BlockNet has a lot of potential, but we'll just have to wait and see how it develops.

It would be good in terms of exposure, and that is what ICG needs at the moment. There is a great team here, and as soon as people become aware of it, I believe they will start to invest. Will being a part of the BlockNet bring that awareness? Who knows?  Undecided

I agree, Overall I'm on the fence whether or not ICG should be apart of the block-net. Though increasing exposure would help.
