So lets see, Koolio was eager beaver to retweet this Attious characters claim of going on btc-ec only hours ago but now you say he is kicked from the team after posting negative info?

Sorry it doesn't pass the smell test.
He was kicked yesterday.

I'm a stakeholder of 100k.  No intention of selling soon.  Also mining what I can.

Basically you have 100 pre-generated addresses in your wallet and you use them when you create an address or send a transaction.  As long as you haven't used all 100 of these addresses since your last backup it will still be valid.

Awesome, thank you for the insight.  Very good to know.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Using an old backup wallet on: November 14, 2013, 10:44:20 PM
Quick question for those more informed than me.  I had 38 BTC in a wallet backed up on November 7th.  Today, I loaded that wallet up in Bitcoin QT and sent 36 BTC.  I then deleted the wallet and put my normal wallet back in place, assuming my November 7th backup was all I needed.  However, I then put the November 7th wallet back into Bitcoin QT and the balance is zero instead of the expected 2 BTC.  The 36 BTC transaction from today also does not show up in the transaction history.

To see if rebuilding the block chain in my client helps, I copied the November 7th wallet to a fresh install of Bitcoin QT on another computer, but it will be hours before the block chain is done downloading.  What would you say I should expect to find after it's done rebuilding?

The reason I ask is because I remember reading once that when you send part of your BTC balance, the whole balance is sent and then part of it is sent back to you.  Would using the November 7th wallet make it so I don't have access to coins that the more up-to-date wallet I deleted contained?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Well, the block chain finished rebuilding and my 2 BTC are back.  Woot!

it seems I will also need to post a scammer accusations thread for Chan/Tosaki as I have btc stuck in escrow which I expect will end up being lost.

I also have some BTC stuck in escrow.  I believe I'll probably get it in the end...Not worried at this point.

Wonder if maybe the input.io hack got him worried since he does keep wallets on system and all.  So basically decided the risk was not worth it at least for him anymore.
Pretty sure that was an inside job.  The guy who ran it isn't even going to report it to the police.  The hacker risk is still there, nevertheless.

What should I do about a situation where the seller has refused to release a BTC refund from escrow when the two $100 Amazon gift cards that I paid for had previously been redeemed on another Amazon account?

He asked me yesterday to give him 10 minutes to look into the issue with Amazon support.  4.5 hours later, I told him I'd be requesting a refund if he was unable to provide working codes within the next 16 hours.

I requested the refund and he declined to release the funds from escrow.  I'll gladly release the funds to him if he provides working codes, but I'd rather lose what I paid to an eternally unresolved escrow dispute than to release the funds to a crook.

Here's the listing in question.

Any word on the reason why Bitmit is shutting down?
I'm wondering as well.

Is the problem related to the idiot Fed's money services business regulations?
For this, I have no advice and I wish you luck.  They have to change things because FinCEN makes no sense on the issue right now.  They're morons.

Are you just sick of listening to people whine when any little thing goes wrong?
I have never heard a bigger bunch of crybabies than some in the Bitcoin community.  Just gotta be thick-skinned to get something like this done.  Bitmit is awesome.

Are you looking to do greater things?
Don't forget that the guy who created eBay became an instant billionaire after their IPO in 1998.  I suspect something similar is possible for one of the the eBay for Bitcoin sites, and yours stands out most to me.

In any case, I'll be very sad to see Bitmit close down.
29  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitmit - Bitcoin shopping mall - Bitcoin market place - Bitcoin auction house on: November 02, 2013, 08:38:52 PM
Bitcoins are always credited to your Bitmit wallet and never automatically sent back to one of the senders wallet btc address. Just check out yuor Bitmit wallet, I am sure you will find the funds there!
Finally realized that I needed to go to the listing, click Options, and choose "Claim Bitcoins back". Thanks!

However, I'm now waiting on the seller, who cancelled the order, to release the funds back to me.  Wouldn't it make sense to change it so that this isn't required if the seller cancels an order?

Besides of that we can easily add other payment methods as well then.
Please add LTC! :-D
30  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitmit - Bitcoin shopping mall - Bitcoin market place - Bitcoin auction house on: November 02, 2013, 06:52:50 AM
I purchased an item and, like an idiot, used my CampBX account to pay for it.  The seller cancelled the item and I have no idea where the 0.99428 BTC will be refunded, whether to my Bitmit account (I sure hope so) or to the address owned by CampBX.

So far it's still just sitting in this wallet:
https://blockchain.info/address/1559VdGeVxYNWePq77LR7GyvZ5pJbo3HoS

I haven't seen any funds go back to the address that the coins came from, but they're also not in my Bitmit account.

If it goes back to the CampBX wallet, I'll take it up with their support and maybe get the funds back sometime before my toddler is grown (CampBX support is extremely slow).

Can anybody shed some light on what will most likely happen?

Bitcoins will never flow from Bitmit to any wallet without a user hitting the withdraw button. If you buy without success or sell with success, you always end up with a balance in your wallet, so don't worry about bitmit sending your money to random addresses. This is not satoshi dice.
That is WONDERFUL news!  Thanks!
31  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: !!!CAMPBX HAS STOLEN MY MONEY [SCAM ACCUSATION]!!! on: October 29, 2013, 04:24:30 AM
All I know is that I sent five $1000 money orders to them around July 20th and it took about a month to get all of it credited to my account.  $1000 was credited approximately every six days.  What can I say?  They're either idiots or horribly understaffed.
32  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [300'000 GH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers on: September 13, 2013, 12:32:13 AM
I looked at the last few days of posts and didn't see anything on this, but I might've missed it, so I apologize if that's the case.

My friend and I have both noticed that E-Mail notifications for idle workers stopped functioning a few days ago.  We tried disabling and re-enabling the notifications, but that had no effect.  Anybody else experiencing this?

I shipped an i3 Intel NUC to the hosting company (J. Morgan) to run six Mini-Rigs and six Singles (only have two Mini-Rigs so far).  They haven't set it up yet, but I expect it will run great.

Hey WhitePhantom, which one did you end up purchasing, I am thinking of doing the same thing.  Did you set it all up with software before shipping it to Joe, or did you just ship it direct?

Will
This is the one I used.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856102002

I set it up with TeamViewer and then shipped it to them.  However, Joe gives all his customers a static public IP, so he had to hook it up to DHCP so I could remote in and configure the static info he gave me.

It's doing a great job with four 500GH (480, really...) rigs and six Single SCs, so that's the same as running 38 Single SCs on the i3 NUC.

I later purchased an i7 Gigabyte BRIX for home use and found the BIOS options to be far superior to the Intel NUC, so I'd have to recommend the i3 BRIX over a NUC.

thanks for the info - am I right that I would need to buy SSD and memory separately?

Will
That is correct.  Note that they use laptop RAM and that you'd need an mSATA SSD, as there is nowhere to fit a 2.5".

35  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: First time BTC investor's experience w/ CampBX...frustrating as hell on: August 21, 2013, 06:48:03 AM
I got hit with a 90 day hold on withdrawing my purchased bitcoin. No explanation given, no support available, no way to contact them. If they don't release my coins after this bogus 90 day hold I will be contacting the authorities and my lawyer. I will not be using them ever again. Extremely displeased that they won't communicate with me as a KYC verified customer who's done over 20k worth of business through them. I'm in US so coinbase is really the only option left for now.
They disabled my BTC withdrawals for 90 days about a month ago because I attempted to deposit funds via Dwolla.  However, Dwolla required some ID verification steps before I could deposit the funds, so there was no reason for CampBX to do anything to my account.  I opened a support ticket and they re-enabled BTC withdrawals after about 3 days.

On the other hand, I've been waiting almost a month for them to credit a $1000 money order to my account.  The only reason I use them is because I can easily withdraw funds via Dwolla after I sell mined coins.
36  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CampBX trying to run away with $999 money order! WOULD YOU REPLY TO ME? on: August 21, 2013, 06:41:32 AM
Still waiting for them to deposit my last $1000 out of five $1000 money orders.  Ridiculous...It's been about 4 weeks since I sent the money orders to them.
37  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox cash withdrawal delay on: August 16, 2013, 04:12:57 PM
I got this message from Mt. Gox tech support.

Thank you for the email. Please note that there is a delay on withdrawals due to large volume of withdrawal queue. unfortunately you have to wait. Once the queue clears then the system will process your withdrawal automatically. So please bear with us. I will keep you posted once it is done.

They didn't give me an estimate as to how long it would take to clear the queue.   Has anyone received similar messages?   Has anyone had trouble receiving a cash withdrawal?

Just another GOX-SEPA withdrawal received today in my savings account (€ 999 minus 1%). It was startet on the 24. of July. So it has lasted nearly a month, but much more better than 10% on Bitstamp.

Quit spreading FUD.  Any forum user should ignore posts coming from OhShei8e, as he is the only individual on the forums who incessantly supports Gox, and uses poor or irrelevant facts to back up his position.  His information is false.
If what you say is true, he's just spreading lies, not FUD.
38  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CampBX trying to run away with $999 money order! WOULD YOU REPLY TO ME? on: August 16, 2013, 04:04:00 PM
I'd recommend opening a support ticket.  They do process money orders, but it must be on their lowest priority list.

I tried to post a comment on their knowledgebase, but it doesn't work.

Quote from: CampBX Knowledgebase - Money Order Deposit Delay
Dear customer,

Please note that USPS can take anywhere from 3 to 7 business days to deliver mail to our Atlanta office. Our treasurer processes Money Orders the same business day if we receive them before 1 PM, otherwise they are processed with next day's batch.

Thank you,
CBX Support

Quote from: My Attempted Comment
This is BS and completely untrue.  I overnighted and they received five $1000 money orders from me 3½ weeks ago.  Because my account has a $1000/day limit, it should have taken five days to deposit all of it.  Even that would have been ridiculous, in my opinion.

However, they only deposit another $1000 whenever they happen to feel like it.  They've had my $5000 for 24 days and have deposited $4000 to my account so far.  Since the first deposit was on the first day, that's an average of 8 days between each deposit.

Get verified so they can deposit everything at once or you'll be waiting a very long time before seeing all the money in your account.

will we reach 1 billion difficulty before Jan. 1, 2014? I'd put money on 'Yes'.
I'd say no.  20x current hash power in 3.5 months?  Nah...

Sorry to have left for now.  It was because idle notifications have not yet been implemented here.

It saved my bacon about 2 hours after I left, too...My host machine at KC MO Colo dropped its Internet connection for some unknown reason.  10 minutes (I'd prefer 5...) after it went offline, BTCGuild notified me that they had not received any shares from me.  I called the data center and it was back up in 5 minutes.  I'd have probably suffered 3 hours of downtime before noticing had I not received the automated notification.

When idle notifications are implemented, I will be back.  I love BitMinter!
Bitparking has an excellent Android app that does idle notifications. Just giving you options so you don't have to give your hashrate to an already extremely bloated pool. Tongue
I appreciate the suggestion, but they're only 4.3 TH, so I'd be almost 1/3 of the pool.  I'd hate to deal with the risk of that much variance with difficulty increasing so much every retarget.
