21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you would be able to get back in early 2009, what would you do? on: May 14, 2015, 05:40:48 PM
I would have invested about 10k, savings i had around that time which would have been 40 000 BTC then i would have sold at the peak for 50 000 000 $
I would have also told my friends and family to do the same.

none  of your friends and family would have believed you... investing huge amount of money into something that wasn't even 100% guaranteed to succeed at that time... unless you brought something from the future to show as a proof... but then you would have broken the laws of physics by transferring matter through time and space... 22  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: May 14, 2015, 09:01:33 AM
hmm..right..
many people have misconceptions about activity stats...one should clearly explain in one of the posts, rather mixing all forum rules...

This https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1057404.msg11346383#msg11346383 post helped me understand the basic rule of posts and activity... Hope it helps you guys too
23  Other / Meta / Re: What day of the week does the new activity period start? on: May 14, 2015, 08:57:52 AM
Why care about an activity rating, a forum is for discussion, not a score competition. Just be active and your activity will grow. Be patient and please just post for contribution to the forum, not for your activity score.
Because they don't understand the way the scoring system works, newbies spam in hopes of getting their rating up and/or they've joined some newbie signature campaign and think they can earn a fortune by blasting the boards.

What the system really boils down to is this: at some point your post count MUST be equal to or greater than your time score to earn the highest possible forum rank.

Examples:

User 1 posts 1 post every 2 weeks.  He joined 2 years ago.  He has a potential activity score of 728.  His actual score is 52.
User 2 posts 14 posts every 2 weeks.  He joined 2 years ago.  He has a potential activity score of 728.  His actual score is also 728.
User 3 posts 100 posts every 2 weeks.  He joined 2 years ago.  He has a potential activity score of 728.  His actual score is also 728.
User 4 makes 1 post today.  He joined 2 years ago.  He has a potential activity score of 14.  His actual score is 1.
So what this means is If someone makes even 1 meaningful post per day he's gonna become a hero in 2 years irrespective of all  the useless posts that he's made over the course of that time Or he might get banned because of those useless posts that he's been making for the past two years... Cheesy
So far the best post that helped me understand the essentials of activity and posts...
Thanks johnnybravo0311 sir
24  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: signatuer payouts on: May 14, 2015, 08:44:02 AM
that list should be upgraded, in the way that it list the it list the most profitable campaign in the first spost then the second ecc..., and not how it is right now, it would be easy for everyone to join the best one

and divided for newbie and other members, for example dadice and bit-x should stay in the first 1-2 spots for full members+ and for fullmembers- 777coin should be the first then the others

There is no way to do that as what is 'best' or most profitable depends on the individual's posting habits and rank. Rates are constantly changing and sometimes people even get better deals than stated in the op if they're a quality poster etc.
I think Amph is trying to say that instead of a single list that is given at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0; the list can be categorized in to ones good for newbies, jr. members, full members and so on and on...
That would be a lot of tedious work and also the availability of memberships and payouts for a given rank may change regularly or at definite interval.
Besides the tabular data created in that given thread is much easier to comprehend then the rank wise tabular distributions that Amph is proposing...
25  Local / Alt Coins (India) / Re: Trestor - A clear cryptocurrency scam going on all over India on: May 14, 2015, 02:06:23 AM

that's actually hilarious... i guess trestor was given such publicity and importance by Indian papers because it was launched by an Indian "enterpreneur"...   Tongue Tongue
Even companies like Zebpay and other bitcoin related companies are by Indian founders as well, and even got investments. But even then, you would see no mention of them in the newspapers.
that's actually tragic, given that zebpay and other bitcoin related Indian companies are a lot better than Trestor... and they really are taking part in strengthening the bitcoin community by their works... unlike Trestor which even though being a scam gets all the limelight...  Embarrassed
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Satoshi still have plans to access his coins? on: May 14, 2015, 02:04:16 AM
Satoshi might be somewhere watching the posts that we make making assumptions as to why he would or won't sell his possession of bitcoins... and thinking "hehehe...I'll just wait and watch these guys until I create another mind boggling invention... till then... "where's my popcorn for this topic"" (If he eats popcorn, that is)  Grin  Tongue
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Satoshi still have plans to access his coins? on: May 13, 2015, 04:14:58 PM
If Satoshi would have  wanted to use his bitcoins he would have done so when the cost of bitcoin reached $1200... nevertheless it would have risked his anonymity, also t is based under the assumption that he has 1.5 million bitcoins... what's he gonna do with them if not spend them or utilize them.. keep them as a souvenir... I hardly think so...
Anyways... Human mind is a complex structure and a mind of a person as smart as Satoshi... maybe he has found out a way to do something with all his bitcoins by not doing anything with them...

There is something more than just an "assumption" that Satoshi has 1 Mio BTC (not 1.5):  https://bitslog.wordpress.com/2013/04/17/the-well-deserved-fortune-of-satoshi-nakamoto/

"Note that from the 1814400 BTC awarded, 1148800 BTC has never been spent (63%). I suppose (but have not checked it yet) that these are exactly the segments that belong to the mystery entity,"

Did anyone try to ring the listed merchant in India???
If so, what did they say?

Anyway, thanks for the thread... lot of newbies are out there like me who got to know about the scam... Smiley

There is actually a reply there on the ANN thread where a guy tried to call up a number on the list : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=890008.msg10445239#msg10445239

And seemed he had no idea about Trestor or any Cryptocurrency .

I read that post... the guy was talking about the merchant in Australia.
I was asking about merchants located in India.
anyhoo...Trestor's a scam... and that's what really matters... informing people where to invest and where not...

btcsnatcher.

If you pay for the shipping, I have an few Antminer S1's laying around collecting dust.  I've been phasing them out of my network.  I'd be willing to donate an old unit for you to play around with.  You would need a power supply to fire it up, but otherwise the units work.  I've got them over clocked to 200Ghz, and they run just fine on a 750 watt corsair power supply.  You can get those pretty cheap used and not too pricy new.  Keep in mind.  Once year ago, I bought one unit off eBay, and ran 200ghz until i had the btc to add more or upgrade.  I'm running 3 Antminer S5's, 1 Antminer C1, and a hand full of Antminer S1's.  I upgrade as I go and now I'm running and average 4800Ghz and slowly climbing.

thank you Grimsley... that'd be incredibly generous of you.  Cheesy
I have sent you a PM.
32  Local / Alt Coins (India) / Re: Trestor - A clear cryptocurrency scam going on all over India on: May 12, 2015, 03:40:34 AM
It is a clear scam, but seems they are relying on trapping people new to the bitcoin and the digital currency ecosystem. They are also trying to get investments for their company or altcoin, which will definitely lead to a scam.

Here is their ANN Thread on the Indian Subforum : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=890008.0

saw the thread... seems they were anxious to get involved in the cryptocurrency world... but stopped posting in the thread...

I rang a 'Trestor merchant' in Australia this morning. Nice guy. Not a crypto geek. Knew nothing whatsoever about Trestor. Zip. Nada. Zilch.

How about a bunch of us in different countries each ring a listed merchant?

1. http://ngsofindia.com/
NGS- Numismatic Guarentee Service of India is India's first Professional Grading and certification service for coins.

2. http://pcggrading.in/
PCG- PCG grading company grades coins that are of asia and other countries.

for grading BTCs you can contact them at http://pcggrading.in/Contact_Us.php

Though I doubt they grade BTCs. Still worth a try.

Good Luck.   Smiley Smiley Smiley
34  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: where you get bitcoin every day? on: May 11, 2015, 01:03:56 AM
I don't get bitcoin everyday from any source.  When I first began I used a list of faucets but then shortly after I figured out 3,4 cents USD was not worth the time and that the owner was the only one making money.

It might be possible to make bitcoin everyday if you are interested in trading... gambling is also an option but it is way risky for someone who is new to it. If you aren't interested in faucets, cloudmining, signatures... then you can look for online work that pays in bitcoins... You should check out the web there are several sites which require freelancing and similar kind of jobs

You might list the sites to make post more useful Smiley

On the forums there is the services thread for people with skills to trade.

Here https://www.bitwage.co/... if you do have any interest in earning bitcoins through part time jobs or freelancing... for more info you can view this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=53026.0

Hey izanzgi i already registered for you campaign, but i can't see my name in side adv tab of the doc...
My question is "do you update names separately in the doc for those who have registered for both PM and the code i.e. the complete campaign (in ENROLLMENT tab), and a different tab for those who have applied for PM only(SIDE ADV ONLY) or is it something else???"

just wanna know for sure that I am enrolled for the whole campaign...

Thanks

I can see you on the list. Your starting post is 23. check the google doc. pm only is seperated from pm+signature
Thanks...
Just checked the document. Happy to see that i got paid by this campaign.
Hope this awesome campaign goes on and on forever and ever... TO INFINITY AND BEYOND...  Grin

38  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to make a profit selling BTC? on: May 09, 2015, 11:55:58 AM
You can make a profit selling BTC simply by cross checking BTC prices that different exchanges and customers are ready to pay... and then you can just go with one you find the most profitable...
You can also wait when the value of BTC exceeds the cost of your investment and then just go for it...
selling at +20% might also be a good way.
39  Local / India / Re: Does anyone honestly think Bitcoin has a future in India? on: May 09, 2015, 11:31:32 AM
Indians doesn't know what bitcoin is. Once they start knowing and show their willingness i think it has a great future. But the Govt Of India will play a major role in it whether to accept it or not Hopefully the new PM of country believes in change so lets see what decision is made up.

I think that the willingness and interest towards bitcoin has already started in India. Check it out http://www.coindesk.com/record-attendence-india-seminar-reveals-keen-interest-bitcoin/... such seminars can indeed help and contribute in he rising of bitcoin awareness in India.  Smiley Smiley
40  Local / India / Re: BTCXIndia Shutting Operation on: May 09, 2015, 11:25:59 AM
That's sad... keeping in mind I just registered at BTCXIndia a couple of days ago...
Banks should try to show a little more interest and faith in this concept of digital currencies. It's not as if they are suffering severe losses in this field. Besides BTCXIndia should also state clearly why such thing happened in the first place. I think it can be safely assumed that banks can't just deny serving without informing in advance  Huh
