21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin price? on: April 28, 2012, 10:06:51 PM
I think LiteCoin price will go up.

The positive about it being so cheap is that you can use it in games and if you lose it gambling or something, you don't lose too terribly much.

I think it would be pretty hard for it to suddenly die.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SolidCoin 3.0 (aka MicroCash) will have a daily fee for each address you have. on: April 27, 2012, 01:44:39 PM
Too late. Transaction fees are in place, so you will lose a little in order to sell them (excluding exchange fees).
Yeah, but that's still better than just letting them all evaporate into ScamKing's wallet.
On a side note, do you really donate to ReactOS? Pretty cool, I don't see it mentioned often  Cool

Yes the links do donate to ReactOS (when dailybitcoins or coinad pays for the referral links). I figured they might as well get something since I see me using it in the future.
23  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Solar power on: April 27, 2012, 01:34:11 PM
Anybody got a solar powered mining rig yet? The ZTEX FPGA rig, at <10W, with a ~1W embedded linux box as a controller and a cell phone as network access sounds doable on a 30-50W solar panel with a good battery.

Being that I've been homeless by choice for several years now, that seems like about the only way I'll be able to mine out of a backpack.

Thoughts?

You might even be able to mine on the cell phone.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SolidCoin 3.0 (aka MicroCash) will have a daily fee for each address you have. on: April 27, 2012, 01:22:51 PM
RealSolid is also planning to introduce exponentially increasing fees for accounts that haven't been touched in over 6 months in order to quickly redistribute the funds to active users
Wow. He's coming after my savings from Scamcoin 1.0. This is pure thievery. I guess I'll have to sell them before getting robbed then...

5. Didn't restart the blockchain every 6 months
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Microcash.org says "Solidcoin" on: April 26, 2012, 02:53:33 AM
Looks fine here guys.

Also aren't many of you who criticized many decisions in SolidCoin v2 happy that the developers listened to most of it and removed the stuff or found alternate solutions?

No trust accounts. No trust nodes. Do you guys always need something to whinge about or is it just a hobby?

You need to stop talking for the company and hire a PR guy.  Don't make the same mistake twice.

He probably can't tell that he is making a mistake. The Coinhunter account most likely has 2/3rds of this forum on ignore turning every thread into a miniature echo chamber for SoiledCoin groupies (both of them). That is the problem with pruning criticism via username, eventually you only get what you want to hear.

This also makes for a poor foundation for the discussion of a currencies strengths and weaknesses.

Agreed.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paying someone to setup Reaper on Amazon GPU Cluster to mine LTC on: April 26, 2012, 02:50:25 AM
Who thinks they could do it, and how much would you want?

I think it should be fairly easy if the drivers are installed and the person doing it (whether you or someone you pay to do it) knows how to compile reaper.

If you want, I could do it for 100 LTC, but it is possible to get it done for free if you talk to the right people (and you do most of it yourself).
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MicroCash - New CryptoCurrency on: April 25, 2012, 10:37:31 PM
ScamCoin is open-source? Well, that put's a whole new spin on things. Let's see what we've got here...
Code: (mining.cpp)
if(g_bTrustedMiningOnly && (pBlock->nBlockNum%2)==1 )
{
Sleep(100);
continue;
}
Huh. I've always wondered how trusted mining works. Now I know! Cheesy Does MicroCash work the same way? Grin

That's so trust nodes will only bother attempting to create trust blocks which are even, the odd blocks are normal blocks. Both trust nodes/blocks and trust accounts have been removed from MicroCash due to criticism.

@Coinhunter (or whoever is playing the part)

Over on your SolidcoinTalk info I saw you posted the below as one of the "New Features" in MicroCash.

"Denial of Service code added, can now ban nodes that flood the network"

Which means you have the ability to ban specific nodes, period. The reason doesn't matter, you have that ability and your unstable history more than proves that one of the fastest ways to get banned is simply to disagree with you.

It also means this built in DDOS protection can be exploited to create all sorts of havoc. I wonder how bloated the "Ban DB" will be with maybe 100,000 banned nodes?? It only makes sense you have a central control server somewhere maintaining a database.

Peer <---> Central Control <----> Peer

Same structure as Solidcoin 2.0 except this time you're admitting it up front. Grin Grin Grin

~BCX~

I think it auto bans so if it gets like a hundred thousand or so requests in 10 seconds, then it automagically bans.

More like...
Peer Control <---> Peer Control <---> Peer Control

AUTOMAGICALLY BANS! THIS IS TOO FUNNY! NOW THEY ARE USING MAGIC IN THEIR CODE/STRUCTURE/SYSTEM!!!! NEXT IS VOODOO!

Actually, it was discovered that voodoo was too weak to do what they want. Next they will use the Force.

This is definitely a different Coinhunter "operator" as the Real Coinhunter never spoke like this or could be this civil.

+1... Need we say more. Multiple operators of a single account is shady in itself.

Keep away from AssCoin = ScamCoin = ShitCoin = SolidShit = SoiledShit = RealSolidShit = CoinShitHuner = Solidcoin = MicroRASH!!!!  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

How many times do I have to tell you people... SolidCoin is not ScamCoin and neither is MicroCash.

ScamCoin is ScamCoin!!

IIRC, MicroCash is written in C#, so it should work on more computers

As a C# developer I have to say this wins the award for most asinine statement today.

It works with Mono (well mostly) Smiley

I always thought that this would work well.

I didn't think much about FPGA mining at first though. Mainly because the profit of FPGA mining will go down.

I think an Atom N450 (which is my most dedicated rig) consumes less than 40 watts when it is undervolted and CPU mining at full speed.  I was able to undervolt the vid to 20 (was previously at 36, and 19 is just too unstable), so it also produces less heat.

Since CPU mining is very slow, I can only get about 1 LTC per day or about 2 bitcoin shares (yes, it is that bad) per day. When doing LTC mining on pooler's cpuminer 2.2, I get 2.39 - 2.43 khash/s. When I tried a Bitcoin CPU miner, I got like 400 khash/s. When using mtrlt's reaper v12, I got about 3.5 khash/s. When using mtrlt's reaper v13 beta 4, I got 5.3 khash/s. But SolidCoin mining is too unprofitable to even think about.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Android LTC app? Where's it gone from the Android market? on: April 24, 2012, 03:57:40 PM
If you're wanting to mine LTC on your Android device, wouldn't using Linux Installer and then installing something like Debian then compiling the miner provide better results?
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin - feature request on: April 24, 2012, 03:35:13 PM
Any port 80 mining pools for SLC or LTC ?

I am not aware of any ...

Only port 80 mining with BTC it seems Huh

Thanks !

I think pool-x.eu has a port 80 mining.

Maybe even ejpool.info

36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MicroCash - New CryptoCurrency on: April 24, 2012, 03:32:58 PM
I think it will be much easier for MicroCash to get new users than those who have already experienced a cryptocurrency.

When I started cryptocurrencies, I first went with SolidCoin.

The reason for that is because it worked in the Windows XP VM that I had to use (it didn't take forever to download the blocks).

And it looked kind of interesting.

I haven't heard any real 'features' yet, just stuff that Bitcoin already does and a bunch of a denial about how it's just a fork of bitcoin.

The more I read about this, the more it sounds like paypal - only with more fees, slower transactions, and less security.
but at least with paypal, they don't deduct your $ every day.

If you have over a certain amount, you actually earn interest.

Most banks charge fees of some sort (usually monthly). If you divide the fees up, you are actually losing x amount per day.

You also have to take into account the user friendliness that MicroCash has, which Bitcoin does not have yet.

Once the 21 million bitcoin blocks are mined, there will probably only be like 20 or 19 million (or maybe less) that are actually able to be spent without cracking the wallets (which will take a long time to do).

With MicroCash, most of the money can be spent and it is basically like being your own bank to a new user where you can get paid interest.

Nothing you have mentioned is something Bitcoin can't do either by design or third-party applications. There is much disorder in the bitcoin community, but that doesn't excuse SolidCoin's larger fatal flaws.

Those of us who want something they can depend on will stick with Bitcoin until something better comes along. A fork of Bitcoin with a Forex trading GUI isn't impressing anyone.

Well sure people can stick with what they like. There's no law against that.
But for a noob... MicroCash has a huge potential.

MicroCash doesn't seem to have much for flaws. I might have missed a list of assumed flaws earlier, but if it can be compatible with big endian devices, it might end up more successful than Bitcoin.
Not having to download a blockchain enables people that only have 50 kb/s connections to use it. Or even 4 kb/s connection.

And earlier... by bitcoin blocks, I clearly meant bitcoin money/coins.
