21  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Holding Bitcoin a long time good way to make money? on: October 28, 2015, 08:10:22 AM
The bitcoin goes up and down in short term. It is unpredictable.  It will go up in long term (more than 5 years).

I think that OP understood if it worth or not.
If somebody invested in bitcoins few weeks before when the price was much lower than now.
Then he probably will earn extra money now if he decided to sell, so i think holding is a good way to make money.

Holding bitcoin for more than 3 years will make you money according to short history of bitcoin. There were two price spikes in 2013, we may have only one this year.

Not sure about escorts tho. A escort might still be safer with cash because it doesn't have a public ledger... that's why we need stuff like confidential transaction, and higher anonymity by default. Bitcoin is not fungible enough for someone like a escort to see it as better than cash.

With anonymous coins such as Monero (XMR), there is no traceable public ledger. So you can treat it as cash to pay escorts.
24  Economy / Speculation / Re: Roger Ver interview with a prediction: Up to 250K/BTC. on: October 27, 2015, 05:56:31 PM
At US $250K in today's dollars, say 5 years from now, the block reward will be BTC 6.25, i.e. over $1.5 million, every 10 minutes.

Assuming all miners together are willing to tolerate electricity costs of 50% of rewards, we will have:

Amount of reward = $1500k * 6 / hour = $9M/hour.

Electricity used = $4.5M/hour.

At a cost of $0.10/KWh, this translates to power draw of 45 MW. Neat!

$9M/hour, or $216M/day, or $79B/year is also the amount of net new demand (including miner retention willingness) required for price stability. Those are not bad numbers; the $79B/year maps to each human on the planet buying 10$ worth of extra bitcoin each year.

Good calculation. $79B/year is nothing compared to the new fiat money supply. The US debt is $18,000B, it will take 227 year supply of bitcoin if its price is $250k.
25  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Hits Highest Level Since August on: October 27, 2015, 02:13:25 PM
The bitcoin price at the moment is $286,
And last time that it was a slightly a bit higher $287 was at 30 July (based on coindesk graph)
I think that the bitcoin price is going to reach the amount of 300 dollars by the end of this week.
the highest bitcoin price at this month happened in october 25th reach up to $294 but the price a bit down again to $284 yesterday and now at $289
and i wish too could be reach $300 in the end of the week

i remember a 312 as a peak with the greece thing, maybe it was on oen exchange only, but definitely we did brake the 300 wall

Yes. We did went over $300 briefly last time. Then it went back down to around $240. I did not have the exact figure.

After trying to pass the 300 $ point it goes down, but not to previus levels, only a bit down, it could try to pass the 300 level on few days. Seems that lot of people joined on bitcoin comunity and want to buy.

A little bit down and a little up is fine. We need the price to go up slowly and gradually. Stability is the key to value storage and as a currency.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch published a bitcoin report, http://www.forbes.com/sites/kashmirhill/2013/12/05/bank-of-america-analysts-say-bitcoins-value-is-1300/

stating the value of bitcoin is $1300 then. There are a lot more development since 2013. So bitcoin could be worth lot more.

I hope the price does not reach $300 by the end the week, or even this month. It is better to be end of December. I just want to price to be around $270-290 for October and November. Stable price matters.
