I feel like im starting to get a little trigger happy with my spending now funny enough lol since ordering food using bitcoin, ive spent bitcoins instead of using my card each time now and didn't realize the dent it put in my wallet as i stopped watching how much i was spending.
23  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you actively spend your bitcoins? on: November 21, 2015, 02:27:44 PM
Im now looking to spend some bitcoins during the black Friday sale, but only if i see a really great bargain cause as of now there isnt really anything i have my eye on specifically and i don't want to spend a large amount in one go just cause.

I usually spend about £10-15 worth of btc every couple weeks but i may stretch my budget if the right deal is there.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shift - Bitcoin Visa Card - now available in the US on: November 20, 2015, 08:13:25 PM
They need to roll this out in the UK, i would definitely order one.

Nowadays i do almost all of my groceries and other smaller purchases with bitcoin debit card. I can pay everything exept gasoline from automated gas stations by BTC. I´m also considering to have (part of) my salary and pay all of my bills by bitcoin. I just need to make sure i buy same amount or more BTC than i spend them monthly Smiley

Thats awesome, whats the rates like paying with a bitcoin debit? i imagined it would of been quite expensive, but i would love to be in that position, my HOPE is to have between 1-5 bitcoins in cold storage by the end of 2016 and up to 1btc in a hot wallet to spend when i need too which i hope to keep topped up to use whenever i need too.

There´s no extra costs or fees when paying with btc -debit card, only 1usd mothly maintenance fee. So far it has been working everywhere just like regular visa (debit) card. If you withdrawal cash from atm, then there is a few euro/usd fee but i personally rarely need any cash nowadays. Sure there are usually some fees when buying btc (to "load" card.) I can change euro to btc without any fees, so i only pay 1usd/month to use my btc card Smiley
I still have some coins i have bought with lower price than it is today, so i like to think it´s sort of free groceries for me Smiley But the main reason to use btc is to support btc economy.

Thanks, i think the bitcoin debit card is such a great idea, i think now maybe i will look into getting one to use and split my hotwallet with it.

I bought a jacket a few days ago with BTC Smiley

It's awesome. Wish I could purchase more expensive stuff, but, oh well.

where you buy a jacket with bitcoin ? Im interesting to buy it too Smiley
any support to asian market ? shipping ?

Any suggestion place to buy Jacket with BTC guys?
It would be good if ebay and amazon accept bitcoin as their payment. I still looking for trusted place to buy jacket with cool design.

Do you mean like buy a Bitcoin Jacket? or Buy a Jacket with bitcoin?

If its the latter, maybe a bitcoin card would be handy for you also, then you can buy any jacket with bitcoin =)

Yes. I spend them in an instant.
I don't have enough money that's why there is no choice.

lol im broke at the moment myself and i have to say the bitcoins i have are certainly coming in handy.
28  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you actively spend your bitcoins? on: November 17, 2015, 08:50:44 PM
Actively as in day to day basis?

I don't really, I like to save it up for investments that I most likely will be making in the future

I like to watch it all grow

i spend bitcoins around twice a month as i am more in a saving mode right now. but what exactly do you consider "actively spending"? each day a few times or just a few times per week.

Maybe not necessarily daily, but i mean like every so often, like for me its feeling like once or twice every 2 weeks maybe.

I still think saving them is important, but im part of the spending team so hopefully a few more merchants are encouraged to accept it.

Im actually quite surprised at how even the opinions have been throughout this topic (and reflected in the poll) i think this is good.

31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Black & White Bitcoins? (in the metaphorical sense) on: November 15, 2015, 01:53:26 AM
Literally just stumbled on this piece on Reddit while doing my usually daily bitcoin search on google, not sure if its been mentioned on here before, probably has in all honesty because the post is quite an old one but i did a quick search and couldn't find anything on the forum, i just wanted you guys thoughts/opinions on this.

Quote
whitslack:

There is a schism coming in Bitcoin, due to bureaucratic overreach such as we're now seeing from NYDFS. This schism will not manifest as a fork in the block chain, but we are going to see two classes of bitcoins emerge, differing only in color. We'll have white bitcoins and black bitcoins. Both will exist on the same block chain and will move on the same P2P network, but they won't be interchangeable.
The "white" bitcoins will be those held at addresses for which personally identifying information has been registered in a state-mandated database. Bitcoins held at licensed depository institutions will be white bitcoins, as will all bitcoins moving through licensed payment processors (e.g., BitPay, Coinbase, etc.).

The "black" bitcoins will be all the rest — those held at addresses for which no identity information has been entered into the state's registry. Almost all bitcoins today are black bitcoins, but this will change. There will be incentives for converting black bitcoins into white bitcoins. The opposite conversion will be illegal.
What do I mean by converting? Well, converting black bitcoins into white bitcoins will be easy: just register your bitcoin addresses with the state, either by directly submitting your addresses and identifying information to the government or by importing your private keys into your account at a licensed depository institution.
Converting back the other way (from white bitcoins to black) will be tricky at best and practically impossible for most. The catch is that white-market businesses will be forbidden by law from receiving black bitcoins and from sending white bitcoins to unregistered addresses. Since the block chain is public, the regulators will be able to monitor for violations of this law and will prosecute companies and individuals who break it.
What this means is that there will be two incompatible classes of bitcoins. White-market businesses will not be able to accept black bitcoins; they'll be required to bounce any received black bitcoins back to the sender. Also, they will not be allowed to send bitcoins to unregistered addresses.
Black-market businesses and individuals (i.e., those operating outside the law — not necessarily immorally) will not be able to trade with white-market businesses and individuals. This will cut them off from a large part of the market. They will be under a strong incentive to convert their black bitcoins to white (necessarily paying any taxes due at the time of registration), just so they can do business in the white market.

Once a black bitcoin is converted to white, making it black again won't be legally possible. For this reason, the supply of white bitcoins will grow, and the supply of black bitcoins will shrink. As long as the demand for black bitcoins (for purposes such as use on anonymous online marketplaces) remains strong, there will develop a disparity in price between white bitcoins and black bitcoins. Black bitcoins will have fewer everyday uses but will become much more highly valued than white bitcoins. Black bitcoins will be the only bitcoins with which anonymous transactions will be possible.
The only way for white bitcoins to become black bitcoins will be through theft from white-market institutions. Regulators will shut down such an institution upon observing the theft (which will appear as a movement of bitcoins from registered addresses to unregistered addresses), but in many cases the theft itself would have doomed the institution to failure anyway.

There will be a great incentive for criminals to steal white bitcoins (thereby converting them into black bitcoins) because black bitcoins will be worth so much more. It'll be like an instant multiplier on whatever the thieves can take. Of course, subsequently converting the black bitcoins back into white bitcoins will incur a tax, which will sap the added value back out of them, but if the thieves are smart, they will trade the stolen (black) bitcoins for goods and services on the black market where they can get the most bang for their bit.
TL;DR: If you have the option, don't register your bitcoins. Keep your bitcoins "black." They'll be worth more in the future than if you color them white.

Just ordered myself another pizza for delivery.  Wink

(i must say though, i actually wasn't going to at first but i was genuinely too lazy to go upstairs for my wallet to get my bank card. lol)
This is exactly why BTC has good chances of being popular!
People do what is more easy, if using Bitcoin is easier/faster than other payment methods. People will be more inclined to use it.
This is why I believe in Bitcoin.

I feel the same way, you always go for the easier option I see Bitcoin being used a lot for online payments as standard in the future.

Yes I do, I think that if we do not spend bitcoin stores will never accept it and it will never become mainstream. I do not know how holders are expecting bitcoin to reach massive adoption while they are not moving it, I would love if bitcoin never reached the big price a lot of people is waiting for...

Your right about the stores never accepting it if no one actually spends bitcoins, otherwise whats the incentive for stores to adopt bitcoin as a payment method?

Cheaper transaction fee's don't mean jack to a business if they don't think people will spend bitcoins in the first place.

Im from the UK, London.

I ordered the pizza or Takeaway.com They accept bitcoin, I hope they offer service where ever you're located Wink I plan on buying Chinese food next lol I actually like using bitcoin to make a purchase because of how quick it was for me (not having to type in card details and go through my banks secure payment gateway)

Bit refill doesn't list my network provider Cry but soon im changing network when my phone contract expires anyway, and the provider im switching too is luckily supported by bitrefill  Smiley
36  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you actively spend your bitcoins? on: November 12, 2015, 05:41:01 PM

for the few places that do accept bitcoin, do you currently spend the coins you hold at any of them?

I know places like www.takeaway.com accept bitcoin and i even heard CEX.co.uk accept bitcoin in stores now too, but does anyone spend the bitcoins they have or do most just onto hold them? (Or gamble them lol)

I wonder if there will ever be any retailers that only accept bitcoin.

A little different the title with the end of your main post. Normally the end of post finalize the title but your's ask another thing. I will try to answer to both questions.

As for the first one (the title) my answer is no, I never use my bitcoin except when I think that their use can bring me other bitcoins. Only in those cases I use bitcoin. Not in any other way or case. Why? Because I think that bitcoin is to valuable to buy the everyday things or even every other kind of things that normally can be bought with my local currency.

Now the final sentence of your posts. According to me you think wrong. Why a merchant must accept only bitcoin in him's store when can use and accept all the kind of money that bring him revenue? I agree that bitcoin must be absolutely between those but why the only? For me and you (who like bitcoin and want to see the use of it everything) this can be good because maybe this can force the people to buy bitcoin if want to buy something that can be found only at him's store. But a merchant don't use this kind of logic in him's activity because if yes, probably will bankrupt. He want profit and use every possible way to have this. And every possible way is not to accept only bitcoin.

Then another thing. I think that people must want bitcoin because they will like it and not because they will be forced to use it (like in the above case if the merchant which must accept only bitcoin). The force of them to buy bitcoin in order to have something they want from the above merchant may have the opposite of we want. The hate of it. It is one thing to have bitcoin or to approach to bitcoin naturally and another thing to force the people to go to it. The second way is risky and I think that can be even wrong.

The last question at the end of my post was kind of just a thought, like a rhetorical question that came into mind as i was finalizing my original post, that's actually why i didn't add a question mark.

I agree the market is quite volatile for spending, but i also think that if bitcoin is to be adopted as a mainstream currency, its needs to be spent, and needs to be circulated, I think people need to see that people are actually out there using bitcoin as a currency that works, i don't know, i could be wrong in saying that, im not saying this is fact, but this is my opinion, however im not saying we must spend the majority of our coins, but for example i spent 0.07146 Bitcoin (£15 at the time, now £16 current value) to top up my mobile phone, now i dont consider this a crazy large amount of bitcoins to spend especially if i was going to spend the £15 on credit with my Fiat Anyways, so why not use my bitcoins? And better yet, as it was only £15, i will put £15 worth of bitcoins back into my wallet to make up for it lol

Also if im going to order food online, and im about to spend lets say £20 fiat to do so, why not buy £20 worth of bitcoins and use those to order my food? that way i dont have any less BTC than i had in the start, and i have my food AND i feel like i supported the cause.

Now the second sentence of your post lol I wasn't saying merchants SHOULD only accept BTC merely speculating on the thought, what ifs.
I do understand that if any merchant (especially so early on in BTC's Life span) were to Only accept bitcoins, it could potentially leave a bad taste in some peoples mouths if they feel as if they're being forced to change their currency to bitcoin just to make a purchase, however i do think one day there is every possibility that there will be some place out there in the world, whether it be online or in a shop, that will accept bitcoin only payments for whatever reason.

About the first question I haven't told (or better write) that my behavior is the behavior to be followed or it is bad or good for bitcoin. I must accept that don't use bitcoin is not good for it. But I have not money excessively to spent in vain buying bitcoin only to buy something that can be bought with fiat money. Because all the transaction have fee (you know very well this) and never, something who cost 20 us dollar, can be bought with bitcoin with the same price. The fee in buying bitcoin are not few and buying bitcoin to use it for buying something that cost 20 us dollar, with bitcoin will cost for sure more than 20 us dollar because, as I told above and I you know very well in the price with bitcoin are even the fees of the bought of bitcoin.

As for the second question have no meaning to write something about your "explanations" (without any meaning) because the quoted last your sentence is very clear. I have something only for the "lol". The use of this slang (always if you know its meaning) it is one way to go out of the embarrassment situation in which you find yourself after reading my explanation or something that you use when you understand the meaning of something wrote by you that make you to cry (like it is your last sentence)?

You have me all wrong man, I wasn't saying that the point you made about choosing not to spend them was right or wrong, i was just explaining the reasons as to why I choose to spend them, and i dont personally consider me using my bitcoins to buy your every day things such as phone credit or a Pizza is spending it in vain because like i said, i believe it supports BTC so To me its not in vain.

Your right, there are transaction fees involved in buying bitcoin, not cheap ones either i must admit, but thats why i say "spend a little save a lot" I use bitcoin ATM personally, and when buying bitcoins i will purchase a few & i will put 80% into saving, and this leaves me with 20% to spend freely (because again, i believe spending my bitcoin helps)

And my second question, again, wasn't a direct question like i already explained, and still think my point on that is a valid one, because it is not impossible for someone to open a store (online or off) and only accept bitcoin,

in fact i think i found one! now i could be wrong, so check it out for your self, i haven't verified this cause i didn't sign up,

BUT from the looks of it, https://www.bit-keys.com/ show the price in fiat, but on checkout, you pay with bitcoins and i dont see an option that says pay with debit or credit (see now, here is where i insert another "lol" cause i find that funny)

And if it turns out i am wrong, i still wouldn't feel silly about it cause whats there to feel embarrassed about? Im not big headed and know for certain i am not right 100% of the time, and i feel no ill way about this cause i know no one is correct 100%.

And as for my "slang" LOL i wouldn't personally call using "lol" online slang, and i certainly didn't use it because i was embarrassed about anything, what on earth did i say that i should have to be embarrassed about??? i used the "lol" because reading what you wrote made me laugh, and  still does.
