21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitGo, Coinbase Vaut or Paper Wallet for secure long term storage on: August 12, 2016, 09:12:46 PM
They hold 1 key and you hold two. Two keys are needed to spend. Technically, they hold two keys, but one is encrypted with your password. So, in theory, they can't spend your coins, and you can spend them without them. It looks pretty much the same as Bitgo.

So what is the point of coinbase multisig ? When you lose one of your two keys then you could still spend your coins with coinbase help, thats it ? But it is a question whether coinbase or other service like BitGo going to be around in 10 years...

If you plan to dont touch your Bitcoins for so long then paper wallet seems best option to me. Hard to imagine Bitcoin value after so long time. Do not encrypt the paper wallet so the Bitcoins are not lost when you lose the passphrase after so long time.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make bitcoin?impossible? on: August 11, 2016, 04:52:12 PM
it is impossible for people to create bitcoins just like print the money, in my opinion it is one of the things what makes bitcoin a perfect currency

Obviously you cant create Bitcoins yourselves to be used on the Bitcoin blockchain, with Bitcoin public ledger everyne can check its not valid transaction.

But any service where you deposit your real Bitcoin while you get Bitcoin IOU back can create as many Bitcoin IOUs out of thin air for their users as they want, but obviously converting these Bitcoin IOUs back to real Bitcoin which can be used on blockchain can be sometimes very tough task, as the Bitfinex shoved.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Africans Can Utilize Bitcoin... on: August 11, 2016, 04:09:38 PM
As far as i know, many areas in African is still underdeveloped & i doubt people who lives there have internet connection or at least a smartphone.

I also think OP mean underdeveloped places which lacks internet. For Bitcoin to be useable you need good infrastructure, not just internet connection, but also people in the area using online shopping often because this is where Bitcoin can be used very easily. So in the end you need good road infrastructure as well. So for the underdeveloped areas there is no use for Bitcoin, there is reason Bitcoin is sometimes called "internet money".
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NEW TO BITCOIN! I PLAN ON BEING "AROUND" SOMEONE(S)....HELP!! on: August 10, 2016, 11:00:24 PM
Faucets are meant just to test how Bitcoin works, do not expect to get much out of them (a lot of work filling the captchas, and so little Bitcoin in return).

I would try xapo online wallet for your tests, I heard you dont pay the transaction fees when you send Bitcoin transactions there so it can save you a lot of Satoshis from accumulating your micro transactions to one Bitcoin address.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do coins get lost at a bigger rate than they are created? on: August 10, 2016, 09:22:08 PM
We don't stop seeing people saying how they lost passwords, hard drives and so on, losing coins forever.

Is this rate of coins being lost bigger than the rate coins are being generated at?

In my opinion the more value Bitcoin has, the less coins are lost. The most coins could be lost very early in Bitcoin history when one Bitcoin was worth under one dollar, but today people should have wallet backups when owning significant number of coins.

It will take a while before more coins are lost than distributed from subsidy to the Bitcoin miners. I guess 20-50 years.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Worldwide! on: August 10, 2016, 04:41:37 PM
I unhappy in my country, because not more than 0,001% know about cryptocurrency especially bitcoin, maybe my goverment must legal this bitcoin for more popular

Im sure you underestimate the number of people who heard about Bitcoin, you never seen Bitcoin mentioned in the news? Your percentage might be the number of people actually using the Bitcoin in your country, but I doubt the big news like MtGox collapse did not hit the news in your country back then. Also check some internet news servers in your language, I doubt Bitcoin is not mentioned there once in a while (bank blockchains articles).
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lowest transaction fee . How long can it take ? on: August 10, 2016, 03:33:23 PM
Tbh . I seriously need some help of someone who could guide me through it step by step. I barely have a clue how to properly use the programs because for the purpose I've used it, my current knowledge was enough. But now that I that all my btc are stuck in a pending transaction it would be very helpful if someone could tell me what the easiest way for me is to get my btc back onto my Bitcoin core wallet, assuming that I have no clue what so ever how to start of .

Bitcoin core rebroadcast your transaction continually till it gets a confirmation. Because of this behavior, the node's mempool will not drop your transaction. To increase fee, keep a backup of your wallet.dat and start Bitcoin core with -zapwallettxes. It removes your unconfirmed transactions, so u can create a new transaction. Dont use unconfirmed inputs to create new transaction, it might delay confirmation even if you use high fees.

Imporant: to be sure your original transaction wont get confirmed later (and you do not end paying twice), at least one of the same inputs must be used in both the old and new transaction.
28  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex owners - stolen funds and ponzi schemes on: August 09, 2016, 04:26:53 PM
There is nothing stopping members from reporting this to the Hong Kong police. If you have lost money, you have experienced a theft - so report it, and let the police investigate.
Does you can call the bitcoin is a money by seeing that from the constitution ?maybe the police will not wanna to take care of your problem. because they will ask you,if the bitcoin is not writing in the constitution and not included lawful currency.

It really does not matter what Bitcoin status is. As long as someone steals anything from you that has some value, it is a theft. No matter whether it is bike, cash or Bitcoin. I see this misconception often though, I mean thinking nothing can happen to you if you steal Bitcoins. What only really matters is whether you can prove somebody stealed you the bike, cash or Bitcoin.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Worldwide! on: August 09, 2016, 03:52:15 PM
5 years time we could possibly be where we are now but with more bitcoin in circulation and the mining reward being smaller, I tend to lean more towards bitcoin being in a similar position to what it is now price wise but with a lot more awareness/adoption.

Your probably right, and more useable Bitcoin is what really matters. Compare Bitcoin today and price hype in 2013, Bitcoin is much more useable today, but the price is not much different from year 2013 (200-1200?). So as long as Bitcoin awareness and adoption is even better in the next years, Bitcoin can only get better no matter what price people going to exchange the Bitcoin for.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cyrpto vs Fiat on: August 09, 2016, 12:13:12 AM
If you sending fiat between country let say from Singapore to Netherland, you need quite high fee to paid.
The story will be different if you're using bitcoin ( crypto ) which is faster and the cheapest among fiat !

Using Bitcoin for remitance has a lot of potential. One of the downsides when converting to and from Bitcoin at exchanges is the complicated process of verification. I personally dont believe my ID scan wont leak if their databases get hacked, thats why I dont use the exchanges. I use localbitcoins instead, but the disadvantage is its more expensive.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Marshall Service to Auction More Than $1 Million in Bitcoin on: August 08, 2016, 11:35:15 PM
Will it affect the price? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

This time it is not as many coins as US Marshalls auctioned before. It did not crash the price last time, so I do not see why it should do any change to the price with much less coins now. Maybe unrelated, but I remember when they auctioned the coins, Bitcoin price actually increased  between the time of announcement and actual auction, but it was just coincidence in my opinion.

33  Other / Off-topic / Re: du you spend coins on real life. on: August 06, 2016, 03:23:15 PM
I wouldn't find it wise to spend the coins in real life considering their investment value, especially if you have a job earning fiat. I do understand it can be tempting to some and maybe in certain situations it would be okay. I'm sure I don't need to explain any further why it's probably not the best idea unless absolutely necessary.
Cryptocurrency today are not designed for use in everyday life. It is only a means to make money.

I have to disagree, you can use Bitcoin for almost anything today. And those few who earning Bitcoin for their full time job have to live on Bitcoins alone. But today, most earning fiat instead.
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big Banks are researching the usage of private Block Chains, and not Ethereum's on: July 31, 2016, 03:58:14 PM
Actually, if any crypto is going to be used mainstream with banks, it will be XRP Ripple. They already have tons of banks on board and have actually send money transfers using the ripple protocol.

I think Ripple is good example how private blockchains works, there is no mining or coin staking, the XRP can be created only by the 'superuser' whenever needed. Bank paradise, but banks can create their own ripple protocol, why pay to private company especialy when the costs become too high after a while.

That drop has reversed. We are really close to 0%.

I still see more drops in the future.

As people see their profits turn to losses.  We will be getting downward  pressure on the hash rate.

I rather expect around 0 or very small difficulty rise in the next few months. The reason is the new S9 units might sell faster than unplugging much larger number of old generation units reguired (Th/s wise). I dont see Bitmain has problem selling S9 for almost 2 grand, and I think it is fair price for anyone who pays around 5 cents for the electricity.

-0.7 = pogress

It seems around +1 might be the winner, but picks already taken from -0.6 to +3.5. But in the end it is about luck how long the last block(s) take and +-1% even from expected last hour estimate is not unusual.
38  Other / Archival / Re: Diff thread July 4 July 18th?picks are yet to open! prize = $50 usd + ½ ing on: July 06, 2016, 07:54:07 AM
Will there be a mass switch off or will things just carry on as if nothing has happened?

Very interesting difficulty period, indeed. We going to see if massive switch off is happening before this contest picking period ends, but it would be much harder to predict the final difficulty change if such massive switch off really happens.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: no faith in bitcoin (ddos) on: July 03, 2016, 08:27:47 PM
Why would I trust a coin that drops in value massively when sites selling it are getting DDoSed?

Keep your coin in cold wallet then, no matter what happens at exchanges your Bitcoin is safe in your cold storage. The perceived value might change, but you own the same amount of Bitcoins no matter what.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese Miners Revolt, Announces Plan to Hard Fork to Classic on: June 30, 2016, 09:49:00 PM
My point is they think that the Core Devs are currently incorrect.

Everybody has different opinion. Do you even know anybody you can 100% agree on any matter, because I dont.

They are rumored of agreeing to a proposal to switch to Classic.
Those are separate devs (from Core) with a fundamentally different ideologically view point on what makes Bitcoin/BTC valuable.

Are you sure the miner's understand that? Their proposal seems to think that core devs just shuffle over to classic.

What I'm saying is: Do the Chinese Miner's fully understand the situation and the potential future outcome?
I am arguing that they do not. I argue they don't know anything about how any of that works.
They only know what they know about mining. Their move to classic could neuter their future profits.

Classic is not good option for myselves, miners should merge the changes they want but if they choose BIP 109 because their lazy to come up with better hard fork change, be it. Its not the end of Bitcoin, and certainly better than current 1 MB, so no big deal for me. Maybe the few who treated Bitcoin as their own pet project leaves Bitcoin because of their egos, but every dev should be replacable if Bitcoin is meant to be decentralized - and those who understand what Bitcoin is keep using and making Bitcoin better after the change anyway.
