Total streams for the month of October: 17256 18555  Even though the devil seems to be using Apple Music, it's our best month so far and we've also set a new daily record of 1365 1614 streams. Yay! yes！u are right XCP has been declining for a long time now. It was a great idea and it had a good branding, team once upon a time. But now its just a underdeveloped coin. Counterparty is one of the few cryptos out there that actually has a working product already. Do not you know that cp before the rival is ethereum? Compared to eth... Are you talking about product or market cap? I do not think Ethereum is the rival of Counterparty at all, as it suits a totally different usecase. I much rather put our company's tokens on top of Counterparty as it grants us a whole different standard of security. Bitcoin is turing incomplete to achieve a high level of security. ASICs and generally the by far highest hash rate of the Bitcoin blockchain reemphasizes the power of Counterparty. On the other side, Ethereum offers a turing complete language that lets you program anything into the chain that you like, even if its main purpose is to harm the chain. So if you like experimentation, try Ethereum. If you prefer security, go with Bitcoin/Counterparty. Counterparty has its rightful purpose already and has implementations coming up that make it suit even better that purpose. We are still early in the era of crypto. You will be suprised how charts can flip. The time will come where people will understand. In terms of security, I get that the bitcoin blockchain has the most hashing power and is likely the most secure. However, could you go into more detail of the pros and cons of turing completeness? In terms of it being a trust minimizing system, wouldn't the number of Counterparty nodes have something to say? At the end of the day it isn't really about whether one is better than the other. On a personal note, Counterparty tokens do more or less exactly what I want tokens to do. It serves my needs! The fact that you can send tokens to anybody with a bitcoin address whether they like it or not is nice. For example one of our artists, Jack, released a song using mostly Andreas Antonopoulos' voice. Jack didn't ask for permission to use it so he shared some of his tokens with Andreas. Calling all folders with FANTOKEN
Some of you may have some FANTOKEN since it was part of merged mining a while back. Instead of them just sitting there in your wallet being worthless, what if there's something you can do that might give them some value? Profits come from streaming revenue, the more streams these songs get, the more likely there's going to be a profit. If you're folding 24/7 and have the bandwidth to stream music at the same time, play the fucking playlist! Leave your computer on all day? Play the fucking playlist! Want FANTOKEN to be valuable? Play the fucking playlist! Think of it kind of like old fashioned radio. You don't have to listen to it all day, but the next time you turn on your speakers a song you like might be playing. Did you explain the exchange rate to them? Did these people know the inherent value of 0.0023 bitcoin?
I only did something similar, it's not like I can go around handing out cash! What I did was ask two questions. The first: " Have you heard of bitcoin?". (It was a while back, bitcoin had a price of $400-$600) Most people answered "No", but it often led to some discussion of what it is etc. The second was a hypothetical question: " Right now 1 bitcoin is valued at $400. If you were given the choice between 1 BTC or $400 which one would you choose?". Almost all chose $. Interesting enough it felt as though people would choose bitcoin if it was valued less. For example choosing between $10 or 1 BTC they might as well choose bitcoin because $10 isn't worth much to them anyway. Maybe it's a good way of measuring the real world value of bitcoin and not the speculative value that is at the moment. |

The value of FANTOKEN
I recently received a PM asking how much these tokens are worth in terms of USD. Here's my reply: These tokens are worthless at the moment! They have 0 USD value. There's no guarantee they ever will have value either.
If we ever make a profit, 90% will be shared amongst FANTOKEN holders. That's really the point of these tokens. If that happens the token would be valued based on how much 1 FANTOKEN receives from such a distribution. Right now we're operating at a loss = no profit = worthless tokens. Let's put that into context and talk about what happens if there's a profit. At the moment new musicians and bands that join the project receives 1000 FANTOKEN. Street Team members receive 25 FANTOKEN, in other words 2,5% of what the musician makes if there's a profit (when does that ever happen elsewhere!?). For example, if there's a profit of 10 BTC and we were to make a distribution today: - FANTOKEN holders would share 9 BTC amongst each other - Currently there are 19691 FANTOKEN circulating outside the originating address, which means 9 BTC would be shared amongst 19691 FANTOKEN. This would be 0.00045706 BTC per FANTOKEN. - A Street Team member with 25 FANTOKEN would receive a total of 0.0114265 BTC

Call it Satoshi and brand the smallest denomination bitcoin (btc).
There's plenty of projects wanting to create a “better” bitcoin. Is that the end game here? I thought part of the bigger picture was to create a better monetary system than the current one where the transfer of value can move freely and openly in a trust minimizing system. Bitcoin isn't the enemy nor the competition.
It's just an opinion, I'm not clairvoyant. But the cryptocurrency that goes mainstream doesn't necessary have to be the best one, it does however have to make the most sense. When it comes to money it seems like psychology triumphs technology. Therefore it would be interesting to see a fork/split that does the opposite in terms of naming the currency. That means one would have 100 million bitcoins for every satoshi.
Currently if you were to stop the average person on the street and give them an option on whether they would like $100 in cash or 0.023 bitcoin, the majority would choose fiat (I've actually done something similar). Now, if you reframe the same question and ask whether they would like $100 in cash or 2 million bitcoins I'm guessing more people will choose bitcoin, simply because it feels like more.
If “opposite bitcoin” aka Satoshi actually became a thing, imagine the mindfuck when it gets listed on exchanges. There's bound to be some confusion, mistakes will be made.
