25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to mine Zcash - ZEC CPU & GPU (Windows x86 & x64) on: June 10, 2017, 01:41:07 AM
Mining ZCash with your CPU (Windows)

For the CPU part of this guide, we are going to use Nicehash miner. While this miner works for both CPU and GPU, we are going to get the best performance if we use different miners for CPU and GPU. This is because the Claymore miner is faster but only works for CPU.

Step 1: Here to download the miner: https://mega.nz/#F!P0ZjFDjC!Cmb-ZRqlbAnNrajRtp4zvA  (x86 & x64)

Step 2: Extract the files within the .zip

In order to use this miner, you must specify how many cores you have for maximum performance. You can check your CPU core count by opening the Task Manager and going to the performance section.

Step 3: In order to start mining with your CPU type or paste the following command with the required modifications:

hqminer_zcash.exe -l eu -u ZEC-ADDRESS -t 8

Replace "eu" for your mining pool address found on the pool "Get Started" page, "ZEC-ADDRESS" for your zcash wallet address (transparent address) and lastly replace "-t 8" for the number of threads you want to use. (If you're using the Nicehash pool, you can use -l to specify your location like "eu" for Europe)

Mining ZCash with your GPU (Windows)

On the GPU side, we are going to use the Claymore miner. Claymore has a long-standing reputation for optimizing miners and this miner speaks for it. It improves the hashing rate considerably and that is why we are going to take the time to download and use this miner as well. The genoil miner only works for pool mining and with AMD graphic cards. This miner charges a 2.5% developer fee. Every hour the miner mines for the developer during 90 seconds. However, the performance increase is well worth the fee charged. If you don't agree with the dev feem, don't use this miner

Catalyst (Crimson) 15.12 is required for best performance and compatibility. You can get very bad results for different drivers version, or miner can fail on startup.

For multi-GPU systems, set Virtual Memory size in Windows at least 16 GB:
"Computer Properties / Advanced System Settings / Performance / Advanced / Virtual Memory".

Here to download the Claymore Zcash miner : https://mega.nz/#F!P0ZjFDjC!Cmb-ZRqlbAnNrajRtp4zvA

28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to mine Monero (XMR) CPU Mining x32 & x64 on: June 07, 2017, 03:30:15 PM
CPU Mining Monero (XMR)

Step 1: Download the mining software 32x & 64x : https://mega.nz/#!sShTRLwK!9AHfpahELhQHlajYx8JZrDnRmB-i9I-Zol6vk6codeU

Step 2: Extract the .zip file. You will be left with a folder like the one below.

Step 3: Now, inside the miner folder we have just extracted from the .zip file, you'll need to hit ctrl + right mousekey. By doing this you'll be given an extra option "open command window here", click it and a command line window will appear.

Step 4: Now that our command line window (miner) is ready to go, all we need to do is type in the command: "minerd -a cryptonight -o stratum+tcp://monerohash.com:3333 -u YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS -p x". You have to replace "YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS" for your actual XMR wallet adress.

You are now mining Monero! You can view all of the commands available by typing "minerd --help". In our case we're just using the -a command, which stands for algorithm, the -o stands for server, the -u is your wallet address and the -p is your password, which can be left with an x when the Mining pool does not require you to login.

The Genoil miner is currently giving better results in GPU mining. We will soon create a guide on how to use this miner. You can download it here: https://github.com/Genoil/ZECMiner

Zcash mining is getting pretty popular but solo mining can get pretty lonely. Come test the waters on a Zcash pool! All you have to do is follow this guide! We are going to use the NiceHash open source miner, which allows us to mine for BTC or for ZCash. Since we want to keep our newly mined ZEC, we're using the second option.

This miner allows us to mine both with CPU and GPU and it was made using a Windows computer,  but it will also work on Linux based machines.

Part 1 - Download

Step 1: Click here to download the miner : https://github.com/nicehash/nheqminer/releases

Step 2: Extract the files within the .rar

Part 2 - Choose a mining pool

This miner only works with pool mining. If you're looking for a good zcash mining pool, you can check out zcash mining pools here ;
http://komodominingpool.com/#/
https://www.f2pool.com/
https://www.nicehash.com/?refby=58466
http://www.pool.sexy/
https://nanopool.org/
http://zcash.flypool.org/
https://www.suprnova.cc/
https://dwarfpool.com/

Part 3 - Mine with your CPU

In order to use this miner, you must specify how many cores you have for maximum performance. You can check your CPU core count by opening the Task Manager and going to the performance section.

The NiceHash miner comes with 2 versions. one to get paid in Bitcoin (nheqminer), and another one to get paid directly in zcash (nheqminer_zcash).

Step 1: Open the "nheqminer_zcash" file

Step 2: In order to start mining with your CPU type or paste the following command with the required modifications:

nheqminer_zcash.exe -l eu -u ZEC-ADDRESS -t 8

Replace "eu" for your location, "ZEC-ADDRESS" for your zcash wallet address (transparent address) and lastly replace "-t 8" for the number of threads you want to use

Part 4 - Mine with your GPU

In order to use the nicehash miner to mine with your GPU, you need to specify the numbers of Graphic cards you're using (starting from 0)

Step 1: Open the "nheqminer_zcash" file

Step 2: In order to start mining with your GPU type or paste the following command with the required modifications:

nheqminer_zcash.exe -l eu -u ZEC-ADDRESS -t 0 -og 0

Replace "eu" for your location, "ZEC-ADDRESS" for your zcash wallet address (transparent address) and lastly replace "-og 0" for the number of GPUs you're using (as in -og 0 1 2 if you're using 3 GPUs)

Part 5 - Mine with CPU and GPU

That's right, you can use both! With most cryptos this would be wasteful, but since the Equihash algorithm is "CPU-friendly", mining with both GPU and CPU is currently profitable. All you need to do is keep both the CPU threads (-t) and the GPU numbers (-og)

Step 1: Open the "nheqminer_zcash" file

Step 2: In order to start mining with your GPU type or paste the following command with the required modifications:

nheqminer_zcash.exe -l eu -u ZEC-ADDRESS -t 0 -og 0

Replace "eu" for your location, "ZEC-ADDRESS" for your zcash wallet address (transparent address), replace "-t 8" for the number of threads you want to use, and lastly replace "-og 0" for the number of GPUs you're using (as in -og 0 1 2 if you're using 3 GPUs)

That's it! You are now a zcash miner! But no one needs to know about it though, that's the magic of zero knowledge proofs - learn more.

30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Sapphire Rx 480 nitro + 8gb always crashing no Mather what bios on: June 01, 2017, 09:51:46 AM
Hi guys

I tried and tried but my windows 10 always crashes when I mine in claymore if one of my cards have a modded BIOS. It does not matter what straps I copy, it crashes after a few hours. Only stock BIOS is running smoothly.

How do u guys do that? I need to modify something else? Or I I let the miner restart every 2 hours ? I am desperately searching for an answer. I hoped I could run faster the 640 hash and use less power... And I can but it keeps on crashing. Please help

33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / GPU problem need advice/help! on: May 31, 2017, 02:09:58 AM
From past three days have a problem with my mining VGA GPU. It is MSI RX 470 Gaming X 8GB.
Whatever i set in After Burner, after a 10 minutes of mining GPU frequency reduces from 1100MHz (locked in AB) to 600MHz-900MHz and my Hashrate getting down from 27Mh/s to 21-22Mh/s (digging ETH).
Tried to swap PCIE slots on mobo, USB riser, GPU frequency from AB, memory frequency (also from AB), GPU Voltage from AB, to increase fan speed, checked 8pin psu cable... but nothing to help Sad
GPU clock lower down after a couple minutes of a mining and scaling from 600-900MHz.

Any idea or advice for help how to resolve problem??? (this happenes only on that one card, all another working good)
