I'm having trouble setting this up. Has anyone used this before?
I'm using a host where I can automatically add the carts to my database/server I don't have to FTP upload them. I cant get these plugins to work, even when I upload using an FTP. I did the mtgox one, and I need API keys, or something.
If you got the MtGox plugin successfully installed in Magento (you should see a "Bitcoin" option under System -> Configuration -> Payment Methods) then you'll need to enter your MtGox info there. You can get an API key by logging into MtGox and going to Security Center -> Advanced API Key Creation. It'll need Deposit and Merchant permissions. The documentation was a little sparse and I had to code up my own currency import modules. But all's working.

Bitcoinblaster.com uses the Mt. Gox Merchant Extension plugin for the open source Magento shopping cart software. I'm not sure how it compares to the other options mentioned, but it does the job.

I coded a module to pull the Mt Gox ticker data into my shopping cart software to convert the product prices from USD to BTC dynamically. My question is, what is the best data to use for this conversion? The API offers high, low, vol, avg, vwap, last, buy and sell. I'm currently using last.
Is this the best data to use for this purpose?

How about Peachtree Accounting 2012 BTC Edition or Intuit Bitbooks Bitken 2012. Available at your local Best Buy. lol
I was wondering when someone would finally bring up the boring nuts and bolts of working with business finance. It’s not quite as interesting as discussions about waging a great libertarian battle with our new money but it is much more realistic and necessary in the real world if anyone expects a mainstream business to adopt Bitcoin.
Agreed, it's not all that interesting. But it is necessary. I could code a plugin./module if one of these accounting packages has an API exposed. I think I'm going to go the custom spreadsheet route for the moment. At least until that becomes unwieldy enough that I'm forced to learn real accounting software, and confront the lack of BTC support ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I've just gotten started doing business in bitcoins and I'm curious what solutions other bitcoin businesses use for bookkeeping.
As a small (micro) business I need to keep expenses infinitesimal. Is there any bookkeeping software or website that can handle btc and dynamically import exchange rate data? Anything that offers an API extensible enough to add this?

Well it's not half as sensational I suppose as "reporting" on those evil Silk Roaders shipping guns and drugs to innocent school children. But we just opened the (virtual) doors at bitcoinblaster.com this week, so I'm still optimistic.
The legitimate commerce is the future of bitcoins. We just need to get it to that critical mass of acceptance.

We're adding to our inventory all the time.
Check out Bitcoinblaster.com's new listings in the categories of Tablet Computers and Digital Cameras.
Thanks!

I don't think I have the permits to sell 25th century space weapons. Have you tried silk road?

Uhh probably can't do the oxygen tanks. No for the moment on the laser cutters. And what's a stasis module?
If you have any more consumer electronics-oriented requests those are more likely to be possible. But I'll look into anything.
My suppliers don't carry what you've requested though.

I noticed a tv flip by with a $ price and not a bitcoin price too, just an FYI.
Yeah that "Specials" image I'm still trying to decide whether to list in USD or bitcoins. Right it's one and one like you noticed. The prices are pegged to USD due to volatility with BTC. I coded a custom currency import to update the exchange rate every 15 mins and the ability to view listings in either USD or BTC. That one, unfortunately for the moment, is a static image I'll have to fix. Thanks! fluxist

Too new to link, apparently. I'll get there, though.
Thanks for the tip!

Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone interested in buying consumer electronics in bitcoins.
I've just started a new site: bitcoinblaster.com
Bitcoinblaster.com sells laptops, digital cameras, televisions, tablet computers and more. The listings are sparse at the moment but we'll be adding inventory all the time.
Fast shipping -- free for all orders over $75 -- and competitive prices.
Thanks!

Hello everyone,
This is my first post so let me introduce myself. My name is fluxist and I am based out of New York, NY. I've been a lurker on these boards for a few months but now I've decided to jump into the fray.
I'll be bringing online a bitcoin-only electronics retailer in the next week or two. Right now it's looking like computers, cameras, headphones and some other miscellany will be our initial products. Does anyone have any requests for products they'd like to see? I'd like to make this as useful to everyone as possible, so I'm all ears!
thank you, fluxist
