And who is to say this might not happen again, but for instance with "Bitcoin is illegal and it's dead"? Remember that those sentiments only are created once the price has already fallen for a longer time. Bitcoin was only declared dead by Wired near its very bottom at 2.

I'm willing to bet that we are going to see 4 digits within a few years, but boy, do most of the newcomers here have unrealistic expectations.

Here's a bottleneck for you "singularity" guys that ultimately limits the height of parabolic rises: Infrastructure. Remember when MtGox had an order queue of up to 75 minutes filled with market sells? Think this can't happen again in some other variation? Think again.

Fucking right.  Grin
23  Economy / Speculation / Re: Criptocoins vs. Linux on: May 21, 2013, 03:51:07 PM
GNU/Linux sucks as desktop, and I think is getting worse with the time. I remember using Debian and KDE like 5 or 6 years ago as the main desktop OS. Today ? No way.
It's good for developing/sysadmin/etc using some good wm like i3. But for desktop if you're an average Joe ? No way. Right now I'm using Windows 8 and I wouldn't change it, GNU/Linux just make me very improductive.
Obviously, I have some tools in cygwin, and some distributions in vmware if I need something, but that's like.. 20% of the day ?

27  Economy / Speculation / Re: sending money over gmail, Google has unveiled their Bitcoin killer ;) on: May 16, 2013, 02:24:43 AM
Bitcoin killer ? If they control it, no, never. A bitcoin killer is a currency that is anonymous, faster, with less overhead, and better crypto.
28  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mt. Gox is an unlicensed money exchanger dealing in "crypto-currency." on: May 16, 2013, 02:22:39 AM
How does anybody need a license to transfer money period. At this point you basically can't do business without transferring money.
FinCEN requirements, by my understanding, are concerned primarily with businesses which transfer money on behalf of other parties. If Alice transfers money to Betty to pay her for goods or services, neither Alice nor Betty is an MSB from FinCEN's point of view. But if you add an intermediary (let's call her Catherine) who takes money from Alice and gives it to Betty, and does that sort of thing commerically, then Catherine is an MSB and subject to regulation (because if Catherine wanted, and didn't have anyone watching, it'd be easy for her to hide questionable money in the cloud of transfers which she manages).
Still stupid, unnecessary snooping.

This is enlightening:

For me It looks like.. Goverment is a big pile of shit. Good post, sad one anyway.

If you can't deposit or withdraw BTC, how do you know you are trading BTC?

If this is UK based, it could be good for me. I'll have to look into it.

The reason that they don't allow withdraws of BTCs is because of the technical and legal hassle, and the problems with credit card charge backs.
Doubtly they don't have the BTCs, as if there is a bubble, and enought money is inside, they would lost A LOT. Plus there is no reason for them to don't have the BTCs, as they win money with the fees, not stealing you.

Well to be more clear I was looking for low 70's.

And yes, we might not ever get there again. But in 2 or 3 months? Maybe.

I saw the 32$ to 2$ That took months.

I think we are gonna see low 70s soon. The market is very volatile, and goes from bear to bullish very fast.. We did touch the high 70s just two days ago, and maybe without the China news we would have tested the wall. Even if I'm pretty sure if would have resist.
Bad news related to MtGox and CoinLab legal affairs can make the price go down easy. I wouldn't bet anything to BTC going to seventies, or even fifties.
35  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 05, 2013, 04:13:29 PM

I feel so sorry for those guys that were waiting for 70. I feel even more sorry for those guys that are now waiting for 105.

i waited and am still waiting for 70, if we never get there, oh well.

Why on earth do you think we will go back to 70 any time soon?

I don't need soon.

By soon I mean 2015

If in 2015 BTC is worth 70$.. Well, I don't think rpietila 300k are realistic, but, expect a 70$ in two years is pretty bearish. I would say 300$ as normal easily.
36  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 05, 2013, 03:45:43 PM
I'm going to start hoarding bitcoins buying BTC with every profit I get trading. If I ever go to less than 50% of the fiat I got now in my account, I will buy BTCs with all this money and get totally out. And if they go low, put more fiat and continue buying.
This last three days fucked like 1/6 of my fiat at MtGox. One sell order that didn't got filled by very little when I was asleep. Then in the morning trying to sell without almost any lose, then the China news...  Grin
Fuck, I have only won in fiat, if I still had all the BTCs I would have a lot more money. I suppose that I had to learn the hard way.  Roll Eyes
37  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 04, 2013, 02:24:35 PM
Fuck. Fuck you, China.
38  Economy / Speculation / Re: Real crash/correction coming. on: May 03, 2013, 02:07:45 PM
Seems that the recent flash to 80 was too quick for my taste, my personal take is that we're crossing into oversold territory, might see a rebound to ~110 soon before returning back on the downward trend and slowly heading back.

110 ? No way.
39  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 03, 2013, 02:04:02 PM
Well, thanks to this bull I almost got no losses.  Grin Now buying at 70$
40  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 03, 2013, 08:21:39 AM
