Glad to know the UK courts are almost as slow as those in the U.S. Also, good for him for risking bankruptcy to do fight against someone who had wronged him.

“We will not leave this nation at the mercy of YouTube and Facebook.” — Turkey prime minister Recep Tayyip ErdoganThe prime minister of Turkey is looking to pass legislation that will allow the government to block websites without a court order, reports the Wall Street Journal. The purpose of Erdogan’s potential law, WSJ claims, is to stop “leaked audio recordings online purportedly revealing corruption in his inner circle.” The key targets of this proposed legislation are YouTube and Facebook. When asked if an entire ban may occur, Erdogan reportedly confirmed its potential to Turkish-based broadcaster ATV, saying “yes, closure included.” This ban is not yet in place, but the risk is real: Turkey has blocked numerous social networks in the past, including Twitter and Facebook, with bans as recent as mid 2013. This history in Turkey of a willingness to block social media makes Erdogan’s statements all the more dire. http://venturebeat.com/2014/03/07/youtube-and-facebook-may-soon-be-banned-in-turkey/ I wouldn't mind facebook being banned in the U.S. In more seriousness though, you'll probably see alot more of this sort of government-sponsored censorship as the years progress and they adapt to the threat that instant global communication brings.

Re: Is it possible to OPT out of Society? become a hermit.
^ this become a hermit.
you would still be involved with society . its impossible to completly opt out and be off the grid. sometime your gonna dela with society and you will always have to follow laws. Where do you live? There's tons of backcountry in the U.S. where people live off-grid. Shit there's even legally-protected land set aside for communities that live different ways of life. Ofcourse, being a hermit, you'll never have any real protection from other citizens (or from the government for that matter).

In 20 years, a college degree is going to be about as valuable as the toilet paper I wipe my ass with. As far as right now goes, it absolutely depends on what you're going into. The vast majority of degrees are useless and watered down; aspiring students would be better off self-educating and getting real world experience. People with drive and persistence will succeed and people without won't (regardless of whether they have a degree or not). Things like medical or law degrees will always be tied into college/uni education though, if you're going into such fields you should obviously attend.

Watched Dallas Buyer's Club last night. Highly recommend it. Some great acting.
I'll have to watch it soon. Not really sure what it's about based on the name of the title but I saw that it won awards - can't be bad I suppose. I'm gay for Jared Leto. MM's performance just looks like a skinny MM though haha. Haha, MM's lunch time scene in The Wolf of Wall Street is brilliant. I've watched it at least eight times on YouTube since watching the film. Fu-gay-zi, Fuga-zi. They could've cut his whole part out I think. They should've along with a load more and it'd've been a better film IMO. I liked the scene. I dunno, I saw more as a fun movie than something serious. Given the director, I was a little disappointed at the shoddy camera work and lack of any scenes with notable cinematic techniques. It went through ebbs and flows of alternating greatness and tedium. For every great 30 minute stretch there was a following dull 20 minutes of meandering dialogue.
^ I will agree with this though

My favorite its been hijacked and is being loaded with a weapon, my guess would be an low altitude EMP that is being deployed by Iran or Russia (sorry Russia... this would just be speculation based on the timing and possible motive of this jet disappearing)
Hijacking it to fit it with some form of weapon is laughable. Iran and Russia have plenty of their own planes. Why hijack one everybody is going to be looking for? , Not promoting this theory, but fringe groups exist and operate in countries whose governments don't necessarily approve of their beliefs/actions (especially in the middle east which is rife with secular religious groups). It is, I suppose, still feasibly possible that the plane was hijacked for one reason or another. An unlikely and quite far-fetched plan regardless of who is doing it. True, but human beings have a tendency to do ridiculous and stupid things. Either way, this is the least likely theory at this point. I still think the Malaysian government is hiding something though.

Hi,
Well, Bitcoin has gained a bit more status, the IRS considers it like trading in property.
CNN: "The Internal Revenue Service has issued a formal notice saying it can tax Bitcoin transactions, calling it a property -- not a currency." <http://money.cnn.com/2014/03/25/technology/innovation/irs-bitcoin/index.html?iid=HP_LN>

cya,
No one except people who are trying to run publicly-seen legitimate businesses that accept btc will be affected by this. Obv, no one else will bother reporting their day-to-day bitcoin trades. They're hurting the one group we want to grow. If anything, this will just push trading btc for goods back down to the black market. It might hurt growth with smaller companies who cannot afford the hassle. Large companies can afford the cost of figuring out how much taxes to pay. Yes but even large companies will lose a percent of their consumer pool that don't want to risk a loss on the transaction. It's still easy as hell to get the good/services you want illegitimately with btc. Ofcourse, who this whole thing really fucks is miners. Especially considering it's becoming less and less profitable as is.

About it being 'untraceable' or pyramid/ponzi scheme.
^ this I hear this all the time, no one ever has a logical argument to back it up, but yet they regurgitate the opinion everytime btc comes up in a conversation

A sales tax hits the poor harder than the rich and the benefits of the public spending go to the rich more than the poor. As such, a sales tax is just another form of redistribution.
Well all taxes are a form of redistribution. Given the ultimatum to choose a tax, I would prefer sales tax b/c (atleast on the consumer side) it is easily avoided.
