Play it smart and spread out,  keep your prices low if you want to have more wiggle room and have higher chance for profit.   We don't always have sunny days.

Well hopefully I'm not one of your problem causing renters.

I always try to keep my rentals below 0.0039 had some days had low as 0.0033, swapping rentals between US and Euro rents, now on the sixth day with a pretty constant rent of about 30TH. managed to get the red line on the shift performance graph to 33TH, since I only have 6TH of hardware I would say I am pretty much ramped up, and not just jumping in with a big rent at the first sight of some good luck.

Its working out for me,andit bangs another 30TH onto the total Kano PH,so all is good.

I do like these Block Fridays, on top of my hardware 6TH, this last week I have been renting for the first time, and its proving ok, I was already in a profit, but the last 24 hrs the 6Th + rented 30TH (at 0.0035 - 0.0036) has already returned over .31 BTC, my total rent in the last 24 hrs was about 0.108

So its been a really good 24hrs with 0.2 profit and its not even over yet Smiley  Thanks Kano..

(wish I had rented at a higher hash rate now)

Anyone else doing this?

In the last 5 days I have had a go at renting, but I'm not renting massive amounts of TH as most people here seem to do.

I watched rent prices for a week or so before trying and I felt it would work better here at Kano's pool to just rent a smaller amount of TH, over a longer period  of time, so that I spread out the luck and collect more payments along the rent period, I looked at the Kano Pool stats and see that what I rent is still below most peoples owned hardware hash rate, but renting does look to be paying off, even taking into account the longer block at the start of the weekend which was eating into my rent period.

I still have a few days rental to go, I've been adding between 16TH to 30TH onto my small 6TH hardware total, and over the rental period week I've nudged the rental costs so that there always between 0.0031 to 0.0039, If it does pay more over the next few days (if we find a few more blocks), then I will easily have recovered the rental cost, and especially as the 5Nd rolls away at the end, and I return to the normal 6TH then I will be in profit and so might make it something I do more regular.

EDIT - Hold on, I setup an account while sitting here at work, but my miner is still mining straight to my BTC address...  I'll bet that is the issue - sorry for clogging up the thread, back to your normally scheduled mining.

Just remember if you do that you will loose the 5ND, at least i think that will happen  Undecided

If I understand it correct, then because VRobb is saying that he is just transferring his miner from one btc address mining account to the new one as a username, as long as he was on 5Nd when he does the change, the original account will fall out of its 5Nd and keep the receiving payments, but falling off as it winds back down to zero work done, while the new username account payments climb up to the full 5Nd payment for work done, so what he looses from the older one he gains similar or equal to it on the new account, so overall shouldn't really loose anything, except for his actual downtime during the config change and restart and a very little while his miner maybe settles back into its own preferred pool diff

is this correct?

Hi ZACHM, Thanks

7% is good (if lower can ever be good), I really was expecting a larger drop, I thought it would pretty much have to be inline with the increase in pool hash.

What i wonder is, if you have dropped most or all of the 7% only since the hash increase, that your drop might infact be larger for a full month at current hash rate, that your 7% over your month is because your buffered with the first part of December you were getting a larger reward for the work done then at the 2ph, than you are while its at 5.75ph,

I don't suppose anyone could do the same for first week of December or last week that the pool was at 2ph and then the same for this latest week while the pool was at the 5+ph.

Kano...

regards your reply, the account that I have been using from my examples, isn't the one that most of the S3's are on, this account is the one that I have been testing and setting up , and its been and used similar, intermittent throughout the whole time its been used, and the drop seems noticeable over this last week on this and also on another account, (friend whom I recommended to use Kano) with 4xS3 has been online for long enough to have a full 5Nd and was also showing the same relative drop now the pool is circa 6ph,

my reason for posting here was only because I saw someone else post similar a few days ago, that they had noticed a drop in their rewards, and before that I hadn't noticed it, but having read the answers to the other poster, It seemed on checking to me that its not possible to stay anything like the same reward level now that the hash rate has almost tripled unless I/we mine with more miners, or unless the pool finds many more blocks within the 5Nd or to move the miners to somewhere that has generally found more blocks per day and mine PPS,   I am coming late to mining, but I am sure that many of the people mining here have already done the same and tested different pools. I did it for a month before I found and recommended the kano pool but that was whileit was 2ph, being almost 6ph seems to give different results, and you probably saw I made a particular point to not name any other pool with regards to your work, which like always is commendable .

I am not saying there is anything wrong with the pool, if i had 100th of the current 6ph I would be chuffed to bits, and totally silent, but with only a handful of S3's, and we cannot afford to double the amount miners online. I am still unsure, was I looking at a drop inline with hash rate increase, or is that buffered by any extra found blocks, found because of the extra hash rate.  I am wondering what to do..

I had already moved by the 27th, so the payments are short of a full 5Nd, but at current payments, I doubt the shortfally being more than 0.0001x, the 27th payments were for work done within the rolling 5Nd, If I had set out to do a full comparison, I might have set a full and proper start and stop, and taken more care, but the issue is that the payment drop is so much that it really sticks out no matter what.

On the alternative pool that I am trying , my current  Estimated Daily Reward is  0.00234946 BTC  and this has been pretty much true for the last few days.

This is almost twice the payment I received in November per day when this pool was 2ph and quite number of times more than the S3 receives now its 6ph.

How much were other people receiving in November, am I going nuts, or is it only me that seen a drop.

per 1000GH, how much per day, as an average reward did people get when the pool was 2ph, compared to now its 6ph ?

the 5Nd looks stable over a few days but varies over the examples.  using same "equipment" but not same hashrate.

Hi

It was the same S3, but I have a confession, between november and decemeber, I did a bit of pre xmas surgery because I thought it was running a bit to hot, I found the inside was stuffed with dust bunnies, so I stripped it down and blew it out with an airline, unplugged and tried to clean all the connections, even added a wifi antena, then after putting back together I updated the firmware, and threatened it, that if it didn't run cooler and faster, I would sell it on ebay..

apparently this threat seemed to work, because it runs cooler, and faster, like it did when it was new. still wired in as yet, but planning on using wifi.

I admit, there might still be a few xmas mince pies hassling my brain cells

but, as I understand it, from the shifts page

5qug6 valentina   Dec-24 00:33:09   47m 27s   284.217k   646   428.76GHs   2.219k   128.08   4   0.02137   79.86%

the 4 is the number of times the shift has received a payment (block found) within the 5Nd period, which I know varies its hours depending upon pool hash rate and diff,

the  0.02137  is the number of satoshis that I will be paid for that shift, per share submitted, so that gets  multiplied by the 284.217k shares that I submitted..

is that correct ?

thats a big drop, I know its because the pool went from 2.2ph upto the current 5.7ph so lower payments are to be expected, and I understand that this is what should happen.

Thats a total of 0.00251428 already today, ad again, for me, today still has 5hrs to go.

I know that luck has a lot to do with it,

but with the luck I have had, I received payments on 23 blocks found since the evening of the 24th, and that gave me 0.00638135 from my one S3

To get this even with a full 5Nd here would mean me buying more miners, because although the pool has raised to 6ph, it isnt yet getting enough blocks, to give enough payouts in the 100+hrs that is the 5Nd to equal what I am rewarded as PPS in the 40ph pool or what I was getting when the 5Nd was 170hrs in November and the Kano pool was just 2ph.

As I said, I think there must be a sweet spot, where a pool matches the hashrate, and as it gets bigger you fall into or out of the sweet spots, and I think anyone who is currently mining less than about 2th is not currently in a sweet spot, I think there probably suffering like I was, I think the only people winning in the current 6ph are the top 20 users who are gaining from the other 300+ users helping them ride their own sweet spot wave.

Hi e46btc

I can see that the network diff has risen, but the basic same 93G  network diff was paid out on by the 40ph pool over the last 3 days is basically same diff as the 24th payout that I listed and got paid here at Kano's, yet I earned quite a lot more elsewhere, again because the 40ph pool found 3 to 6 blocks per day, and the Kano even paying back for work done as part of the 5Nd doesn't make up those extra block payments I received elsewhere.

This is why I said I think there's something like a sweet spot, which when Kano pool was at 2ph and with me being one of the smaller pool hash supporters, it actually worked out and paid out ok, but now that its gone to 6ph it doesn't, suspect this will change when the pool becomes bigger, because as it finds more blocks per day, it will probably make it worthwhile again, as I found with the 40ph pool that I just joined, where the S3 is an even smaller part of the total hash rate than I am here at Kano, but I am earning more.

from the stats page, its simple to see that now with the pool at 5.75ph, that those over 50TH which is less than 20 of the top users are actually making up over 4ph of the 5.75ph. so 320 of the 340 users are sharing 30% of the payout, It could be that those top 20 users at Kano, find the opposite to me, that because they take 70% of the reward for the block, they earn more at Kano than if they were smaller 50% or 40% hashers of a slightly larger 25ph pool, so that dragging along an extra 2ph of slower S3 and S5 users at Kano makes this 5.75ph their sweet spot pool.

The only way here at Kano's pool that I can currently see to make the same as a month ago, is to buy three times the miners, but I would be spending to make no extra.

So for now I think pointing them elsewhere is making it worthwhile, I am a smaller tiny fish in their 40ph, but many payments per day actually seems to be giving me better returns.

Hi all

Maybe someone can help

Last week I saw a post from someone had noticed a considerable drop in their rewards for same work done, I had already noticed this as well, but because mining is just a hobby thing hadn't looked into it to deeply.

I had noticed that the pool had recently jumped from 2ph to 6ph and thought that this was great as more hash/people must equal more reward, but I am now not so sure this is correct, I am not even sure that more hash/people even equals 'same reward', but maybe I haven't understood something, so might need walking through it by someone.

Two example days, when I was mining with an S3. please note that I do not mine constantly, its a hobby, so I have picked two days when I'm sure I mined all day

18th nov
384195    18/Nov 19:04   24.82829424   329.586G   178hr 36m 31s   2.20PHs   0.00%   13.514M   90.27GHs   0.00101805

24th Dec
389909    24/Dec 02:59    25.39503317   469.643G   100hr 41m 17s   5.56PHs   0.00%   4.522M   53.58GHs   0.00024451

First thing I noticed is that on the 18th when the pool was only 2.2ph I got more that 4x the reward than I did on the 25th when the pool was 5.56ph, I can see and understand that as the pool gets larger my S3  is a smaller and smaller share of the total ph and so get I a smaller share of the total reward.

It seems that now the pool is at 6ph to get the same reward as when it was 2ph means I would have to invest in more miners to keep my same share of the total, but for lots of people, myself included this isn't going to happen, when I look at the stats of the pool, I note that probably 40% of the pool individual users have a hash rates below 2th, probably  people are like myself with a few S3's S5's or multiples or combinations of similar. I wonder how many of those people have noticed a drop in overall rewards, or like me, were blinkered by the slightly higher block find rate

My guess is that the slowdown in payments as the hash has risen to the 6ph is more easily noticed by people who are still >1ph using just one or two S3's than those people with higher hash rates.

Anyway, started feeling that I was getting left behind, so started to look at other pools, and so I moved my small S3 to somewhere else, and left it running a few days.

I joined a pool that was approx 39ph hash rate, finding many blocks per day, and even though it was PPS I found that I was getting many times per day than here at Kano

I have earned about 0.00164 just today alone, and the days only half way through.

The other thing I noticed is having a hash rate of 6phh also effected the payment on shift hours dropped from 178hrs to 100hrs for those two days.

It seems like using the S3 or similar is still ok, but that there seems to be a honey spot of PH, which at around 2ph and not so many users, spending 80hrs mining still Kano gave a payment that is worthwhile, but that at 6ph when it can still take 30 hours a block or 5 days for 5 blocks, that its actually proven better for me to jump right to a 40ph pool and get lots of tiny payments.

Of course luck always helps, but luck is a part of whichever pool your mining.

at the moment, it looks to myself like most of the smaller hash rate people are loosing out, and the only way to stay the same reward here is to mine more hash rate, find another small 2ph pool or do like I did and go for a much larger pool finding lots more blocks, Maybe I have missed or not understood something basic?
