wow.. 11PH of gear, cant imagine what that would look like or the power it would consume. Glad your mining with us not against us.

Wow. I need to get a rental started or something i hate losing all these blocks.
23  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: May 24, 2016, 04:13:06 PM
I've been mining for years. Thought is was about time I posted a little something.
Here's my current rig.
6 - S7's overclocked total avg. 30.40 Ths
Total system pulls 62.3 amps
Rig dumps exhaust into my forced air return duct.
Currently in my area I have my power flat rate power for the next 1 1/2 years.
Total electric for the entire house is $450 a month.
Because of the flat rate, I can run the miners and the A/C at the same time and during the winter they keep my house around 70 deg.

i like the server rack idea. with them blowing right into the return do you hear any noise leaking into the rest of the house?

Of course.. just my luck.

We get back into the green and have some really good block days and of course i have most of my machines down for the whole week due to family being in town for a wedding. how am i supposed to hit ROI if family thinks they can crash at my house for free room/board when they are in town.

managed to keep 2 batch 7s running using wifi adapters and stashing them in the garage so its not a total lose this week but still sucks to be down.

Who says the room and board has to be free?!  recoup your costs, this should be seen an opportunity!

i look at it as an investment in future free accommodations for myself. the family that is staying with me lives in Isle of Man where they hold the TT race. Planning on going next year and going to stay with them, since they live right on part of the course.

Now this is the block finding we are used to. 6 blocks all before i finish my morning coffee/breakfast. Nice to see the pool back up around the 35+ PH hash rate.

see.. now this is the kano pool i know/love. 4 blocks overnight is a great way to start the day and turn the luck around.
28  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Remotely monitoring mining equipment on: May 13, 2016, 07:06:53 PM
changing the stock log in helps but nothing is full proof. i view it as why put more out there then needed. all my ips are easy to memorize so i do so. personal choice.

running a full node helps the network more then a "security" device. i have mine pointed at kano.is to help the pool propagate block finds to others nodes.
29  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Remotely monitoring mining equipment on: May 13, 2016, 06:30:21 PM
thats how i monitor mine, teamviewer on a spare pc. i dont leave anything logged in though. i dont even leave the ips as a favorite or history. i log in via my phone, type the ip, log in, view what i need. then close it all down.

honestly unless you have recently changed something or the weather is changing and you have them in a garage. watch them of a a few days and then call it good and not worry about them. i used to watch mine mulitple times a day and worry about a 1-2 degree C change. Now i just leave them be and check on them once a week, mainly to see if the high share has changed at all.

To be honest I JUST started mining, this machine has been running for 20 hours so far; I'm just incredibly interested in temps since this is new to me. Im happy to hear that you were able to do what I was speculating at but why are you so worried about IP history?

if someone hacks the machine then they have access to the miner.. which if left logged into they can change/screw with the miner itself. change firmware/mining address or just turn the miner into a paper weight by flashing the wrong firmware.

i also run a full node off the box pointed at kano.is
30  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Share hash between multi-pools on: May 13, 2016, 06:24:07 PM
simple answer... you cant.

Complex answer: you can. you have to manually change the pool the hash it pointed to. so that means at every 35 hours you have to manually change where you want the hash pointed to, and hope the rig/rigs you rented can handle the switch and the new pool can assign the proper diff for what is pointed at it.

good luck. you may want to put more information then the bare bones you have listed.

as a newbie you may want to get with one of the older guys and get up an escrow till you prove yourself.

Yeah I stopped renting I think the rentals do worse then the 'real' gear.

I just did a decent sized rental no luck with it.

I won't do one for a while.

Lol so much for not renting.

ive switched places i rent from. it a touch more but at least if the unit under performs or just outright sucks a refund is given.

edit: nice block. hopefully we can get back on the green track and those fair weather miners (5 ph) worth can come back.

Crap...just overclocking the two S7s to 750 didn't cause any heating or psu problems...but they must pull a significantly higher wattage at the wall than at 700M. That's because after a couple of hours running at 750 the mains blew again.

One question...well, a two-part question that I'm sure at least a couple of you have considered. How many extra watts is that? Ie., that will tell me if it's going to be possible to shut off some other stuff to make up for it on an overnight run...I've looked around but not found any responses I think I trust...and my ammeter is dead. I'm just guessing an additional 150-160W each, or maybe 300-320W for both. I'd then (maybe) run them at 750 for perhaps 11-12 hrs after dark when there's no need for about 1000W of other "stuff", then back to 700 at daylight.

Does that strategy make any sense for this pool? How would that affect the 5Nd algorithm? I was seeing an approximate 10% increase in hash rate at 750.

I know...hey, humor me, OK?  Wink

the best way to know it put a "killawatt" meter on the plugs. that will tell you live what the draw in amps and volts are. will also tell you other pieces of info some useful others not so much.

you may be able to get away with either both at 725 or 1 at 700 and the other at 750.

I used to play with my machines going up and down trying to get the most out of them. ended up always about the same avg hash rate, turn them up = avg 29.5, turn them down avg 29.5. ended up setting them all around the 718/725 range depending on the machine.  found that 750+ was to many hw errors and I was just throwing away power/hash power to HW errors.

nice to see the blocks coming in again.. and the red starting to drain away.

To Me looks like a Block withholding attack is happening with kano ..its a  a well-known weakness of the whole pool mining principle and no public pool is immune against it. Slush pool had a same situation in February .

"Published: 2016-02-06 17:02:27
Dear miners, we would like to inform you that we have detected and resolved an unintentional block withholding attack.
The issue has been discovered a week ago and we have immediately taken an action by contacting the particular miner. The cause turned out to be a bug in a custom mining firmware, which has been promptly fixed by the miner. We have no indication that there was any bad intention. The fixed firmware solved two blocks since then so we can consider this issue as resolved."
Problem is no information was ever given out about that or what was done to resolve it. So ya that miner could have moved but no one knows who it is or what software was used.

so did someone stop eating chicken and go vegetarian? all this red is starting to creep into the the 100 block stats. if this is from an attack it seems pretty childish, if its just a run of bad luck wow. time to sacrifice something chicken related.

All this ugly red and maroon needs to go away. We need more green.

That weekend drought hurt. Lets get back on track and get some more green blocks to replace that ugly red on the stats chart.

Now BITMAIN is offering an Fan Bracket with srews and the 6000rpm Fan for the SF-1  Cheesy
What about the warranty if you remove the backside srews....

hmm o look a way for them to get more money from us. they realize most will need the rear fan why not sell a unit with 1 and then charge more to get a second.
