21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you secure your bitcoins? on: October 18, 2017, 06:33:19 PM
I think the best solution is a hardware wallet just randomly hidden somewhere in a fireproof safe or bag. Maybe your attic, basement, whatever and just leave it there.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinGPU (BTCGPU) - forked spinoff, new PoW, adjusting size cap, segwit on: October 18, 2017, 01:42:22 PM
They claim to have replay protection built-in

That reddit post was FUD.

I'm still skeptical, but here is their official response to reddit post:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2-g_coTRnPnNlM1R2F3am9CeWc/view

Do you actually know how we will end up claiming it then? Will we just have to do something simple like sign a transaction? Are we looking at more of an airdrop than a fork? I wish they were clearer, the team seems to be pretty absent from the community.
23  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex on: October 18, 2017, 01:40:50 PM
What is Bittrex and bitcoin gold?

Bittrex is a trading site
Bitcoin gold is what will be created after fork

I thought most exchanges asked for Id

Do you know if bitcoin gold ever actually added replay protection? I also wonder if trezor will support it in their client without me having to deal with the private keys.
24  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why so many currencies? on: October 18, 2017, 01:38:41 PM
There are many different types of currencies because people have many different opinions on how a coin should be run. There are also people looking to just get rich.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin will be used in our daily transactions. on: October 18, 2017, 01:37:44 PM
They can take bitcoin without having to teach people to use it. Places have websites, they dont usually teach people how to use them, they learn or they dont use them, its pretty simple.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin cannot replace currency in the world because price is not stable on: October 18, 2017, 01:36:24 PM
Most fiat has a market cap (not technically the right term) much higher than bitcoin. Its like a boat, the bigger it gets, the bigger the wave it takes to shake it. Not that I want bitcoin to replace fiat, but im just saying as it gets to a point where it is very very large and the wealth gets more distributed, volatility gets lower.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Possible End of Bitcoin on: October 18, 2017, 01:33:50 PM
If there honestly any real threats a hard fork could always be implemented. Yes it pisses people off and we will most likely lose some investment and people who are easily scared, but it would not be the death by any means.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BTCGPU, change sha256 to equihash. GPU mining only . protect decentralize. on: October 18, 2017, 03:37:55 AM
Is there going to be replay protection ? Last I saw when I checked the project out was that there was not. Was wondering if they had updated the code to add it.

I have 990 coins stuck in limbo.  It got on the blockchain at the same time their wallet went down.  We are unfortunately at their mercy.

Paying 2500 bitcloud for help if you can get bitcloud stuck on coinexchange.io deposit to be credited or to get their wallet back up and running.

Same thing happened to me, now im stuck waiting and it doesnt seem like they give a shit, so im trying to incentivize maybe on of their workers to spend the time and get it up and running.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will a fork of Bitcoin ever take over? on: October 17, 2017, 02:27:58 AM
In my opinion it is very unlikely UNLESS the main core developers support it. Core has the best and brightest programmers out of any coin. No one even compares to them. Unless you have a fork with many devs that rival them (they dont exist), its not happening.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How bitcoin works ? on: October 17, 2017, 02:25:52 AM
There are hundreds of explanations online, if you are decently proficient in english i would recommend Andreas Aantonopolous' youtube account. He has many basic explanations.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and generation gap on: October 17, 2017, 02:23:58 AM
Most of the kiddies I know, have nothing to do with Bitcoin and most people that invested are 40+.

What are we considering a kiddy? I mean im 24 and I would agree most people my age have zero idea what bitcoin is, but also most people in their 40s have no idea what it is either. If we take it a step futher I would claim but people my age and in their 40s dont even know what the S&P500 is. The vast majority of people are terrible with investing knowledge.
33  Economy / Economics / Re: [CHART] Bitcoin Inflation vs. Time on: October 17, 2017, 02:19:00 AM
2021-2025 should be really interesting in my opinion. At that point were really going to see the crunch for people not being able to get the coins they need. So few are going to hit the market and at the end of 2025 we basically start really seeing us moving asymptotically to 100%
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I lost 95 Bitcoin on: October 17, 2017, 02:16:10 AM
This really sucks, im sorry man, thats a very expensive lesson. Im glad you posted here because hopefully it will teach people to keep their coins offline and safe.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and generation gap on: October 17, 2017, 02:13:03 AM
There is a saying that says something like for every dead person we advance a tiny step. People, especially older generations simply wont get it and never will. This is part of the reason why technology partly advances in waves.
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobel-winning economist Shiller calls bitcoin a fad on: October 17, 2017, 02:10:33 AM
Old school economists, especially those following Keynesian economics have a real hard time understanding it. Especially people who probably dont take the time to understand it. I could list 10 brilliant people who think its stupid simply because they have had it explained to them poorly.

Is cryptopia the only way to get this coin?

Currently yes, Coinexchange's wallet is not allowing withdrawal/deposits.

Well, I just bough enough Bitcloud to startup a master node so as soon as I can get those coins off CoinExchange.io I will be running a BitCloud master node.

I wouldnt hold your breathe, been waiting almost 3 weeks at this point.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin dies does altcoin die? on: October 15, 2017, 01:40:27 AM
This topic is heavily debated and I think in many ways it will hurt the market very badly if bitcoin dies. Bitcoin is the blue chip coin and if it doesnt take off or doesnt go mainstream and loses investment ( I dont think this will happen I should say) many people will pull their money out.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I've just been hacked!! :-( on: October 15, 2017, 01:38:22 AM
Im sorry this happened, but this is why hardware wallets are so important. Keeping even 1 bitcoin online is not the best decision and opens the possibility of being attacked. Especially with blockchain.info which sucks balls and is often a target because many new people use it.
