21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Never mind the value... on: April 16, 2013, 08:17:39 PM
Depends on transaction size too right? If you're trying to send 0.0x btc or something like, it'll likely take a long time.
22  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bryan Micon's "Bet Me Anything" thread on: April 16, 2013, 08:03:50 PM
Utah has the tie breaker, LA 1 game up, both teams have 2 games to play, LA without Kobe obv or they are a lock.

My bad, I had it the wrong way, but there's one game left for each team and like you said Lakers are ahead. If you want to make that bet at least you should get better odds.
23  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bryan Micon's "Bet Me Anything" thread on: April 16, 2013, 07:50:37 PM
Dude, don't take the Lakers bet. They are a huge favorite since they have the tie-breaker over Utah... New guy either doesn't know this or is trying to take advantage.

[edit] Sorry Utah has tie-breaker but still Lakers will have to lose AND Utah will have to win their last game tomorrow.
24  Economy / Gambling / Re: BlockBet.net - BTC Sportsbook - No account needed, bets up to 10 BTC accepted on: April 16, 2013, 03:02:34 PM
Just want to mention that I did receive the payments fast yesterday. It was shortly after the games ended.

Thanks Smiley

I've been a bit inconsistent with the payouts recently, sometimes they're right after the game, sometimes hours later. I'll try to improve in the consistency from now on since I know it's important for the players.

Other than that, it's business as usual for us, I'm not too worried about the exchange rate or other bitcoin issues at the moment, still have a lot of faith in the currency. Really excited for the NBA and NHL playoffs to start soon, a lot of good matchups in the horizon. The Heat have been giving me some trouble when they keep resting their players and they still win with 6 guys out of the lineup, but once it's playoff time we can be sure that if the guys can stand on their feet, they'll play Smiley
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please Read: A personal appeal from Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales on: April 16, 2013, 02:50:53 PM
Beggars can't be choosers, but Wikipedia didn't get the memo  Undecided

Their stance only makes sense if they assume that people not able to donate bitcoins will then donate the corresponding amount in fiat.

The unstability is a complete non-issue as long as they convert their bitcoins to fiat on a regular basis, for example daily or weekly. They might get slightly more, or slightly less, but regardless it's free money for them so what's the problem?

I still love Wikipedia but they're just acting stupid here.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people never plan to repatriate BTC to FIAT on: April 16, 2013, 02:43:44 PM
I'm in too deep to go back, I'll only convert what I need to live (if any). Bitcoin is too big to fail Smiley

Cool list. I seem to remember thinking that Skype was the most ridicilous idea ever - who would want to make phone calls using a computer?

Will UFC be up later?

It's already on Smiley Missed some of last week's matches due to the very early start times then, so such mistake today.
29  Economy / Speculation / Re: To who whined about early adopters that bought cheap coins: now coins are cheap on: April 13, 2013, 01:51:00 PM
People who complained about not being able to buy cheap coins earlier will not buy cheap coins now because there are risks involved Sad

I have the payment, thanks for the bet!
31  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Filled] PROP BET: Bitcoin crashes harder when Mt Gox reopens on: April 12, 2013, 08:05:23 PM
We can add two hours to the clock, so I'd suggest to end it at 04 UTC. I'm quite certain that at this point, it won't drop below $57 (apart from a few minor transactions), during the weekend, and hopefully never.

If I win and there are no issues, you can send it to 1NPR4t6saVWuJMt9UmaGk5DLfTsqoMFazc. Feel free to take 0.1 BTC as a thank you for helping us out, so send 2.9 BTC any time you're free to do so, no hurry.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How the state will attack Bitcoin... and how to survive the attack on: April 12, 2013, 07:54:46 PM
The topic is talking about the state, yet the article is talking about banks. Two different things.

I'm not big on conspiracy theories and I don't see much reason for the state to attack Bitcoin, they should know better not to stand in the way of innovation even if it might cause them problems. Banks on the other hand, who knows?

[edit] If DDOS attacks and a couple of negative articles are the best they can do, then I'm very disappointed.

I'm not sure, but I posted my message soon after I saw it back online. I suppose total downtime was maybe 1-2 hours.
34  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Filled] PROP BET: Bitcoin crashes harder when Mt Gox reopens on: April 12, 2013, 06:40:14 PM
MtGox is back up. We can add a few more hours to the clock if that's okay, I'm quite confident that it won't go below the minimum.
35  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Filled] PROP BET: Bitcoin crashes harder when Mt Gox reopens on: April 12, 2013, 05:39:18 PM
Well, this is interesting. MtGox seems to be down again.

Can you tell me what time that you sent payouts today? You've been great as far as paying out winners but for some reason it looks like they are still being delayed on my end again. Nothing has come in yet. Thanks

The last payouts for yesterdays bets were made at about 11am UTC/6am ET. They all have 50-60 confirmations at the time of writing this. I don't want to post blockchain.info transaction URLs here since I don't know which one is you, but you should be able to see them there if you know the addresses that you typically use.

Mine sent. Thanks danieldaniel for the help!
38  Economy / Gambling / Re: PROP BET: Bitcoin crashes harder when Mt Gox reopens on: April 11, 2013, 11:13:17 PM
I'm fine with that. Either way, it probably won't be that close.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You are all dumb and got warned this would happen. on: April 11, 2013, 10:48:53 PM
The OP mentioned on an other thread that he lost "a lot" in 2011, which would at least explain why he's pissed. But him having made poor decisions then does not mean that there's anything wrong with Bitcoin.

"... with new coins “mined” by programmers who solve mathematical riddles."

That's an improvement, they're not HACKERS any more.
