21  Economy / Economics / Re: The Bitcoin Singularity is Near on: February 13, 2013, 07:55:00 PM
I think there will be a correction before we hit infinity.
22  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where is the damn correction??? on: February 11, 2013, 10:34:43 PM
Well if there are big dogs out there I hope they do sell to distribute the coins a bit.

Personally I don't care if it drops a bit... you would have to pryse my Bitcoins from my cold dead hands at the moment!

Anyone else here consider selling at 25?

Some of those big movements could be exchanges or even Casinos buying up loads in advance of the coming tide.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Potential fix for Apple Bitcoin ban on: February 11, 2013, 09:32:51 PM
This

Apple don't even innovate anymore... its been practically the same phone since the 4.
The app store is great... soon to overtake Iphones.

I don't want some central authority dictating what I can or cannot put on my phone.
I have a wallpaper of a girl wiggling her tits and a torrenting app...
And my Bitcoin wallet will not be withdrawn anytime soon... I bet it will (again) on IOS.

Android is awesome!

25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the 'Currency Wars': Venezuela formally devalues the Bolivar by 32% on: February 09, 2013, 12:54:41 AM
So basically, if I lived in Venezuela, and had 100K Bolivars student debt, it would suddenly be worth 32% less ? Damn.. I would be so happy.

Oh yea, I nearly missed off a massive one... Gambling!!!!
I think Americans are going to lap this up!

But yea, this could be a perfect storm with an upward trajectory... meaning more news reports causing a feedback loop Smiley

I think it could be a number of things, possibly a mixture of any of these too.

1) People hearing viraly about how those of us who hold BTC have made big 'gains' in the last 2 months or more and wanting in.

2) Organised crime getting heavily involved as they can see its potential for laundering / transferring their money.

3) Bigwig investors / rich kids buying up loads... because they can.

4) Day traders seeing easy profits from noobs who have little understanding of markets (pump and dumps etc.)

5) The Silk Road growing

6) (And a paranoid one) The Government secretly buying loads, then selling loads to cause instability to try and put people off Bitcoin.

Personally I am very excited as I see massive potential here. I just read that Venezuela had devalued its own currency by 46%.
If Venezuelans invested in Bitcoins they could 'save' their savings! And that is only one small country!

Even though there is currently very little to buy with Bitcoin, (especially in my country)... things move fast on the internet.
The problem is, with prices rising so rapidly I don't even want to spend my coins!!!

28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Security concerns of Bitcoin-QT with encrypted wallet? on: February 05, 2013, 10:29:46 PM
I have a fresh install of Linux Mint on a Laptop that rarely touches the Net.
I use Armory and have a watch only Armory wallet on my Windows 8 machine.
I have multiple backups of my wallet in Truecrytpt containers... some in the cloud, some on a USB stick.
I feel pretty safe.

I wouldn't want bits of paper knocking around unless I had a fireproof safe.

Can anyone recommend the best distro of Linux for using as my main Bitcoin machine?
30  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your Bitcoin Client on: January 29, 2013, 07:07:24 AM
No matter what your main client is, I think people should run Bitcoin-QT to support the network!

As more people come on board I imagine we will need more nodes.
Hopefully some more big servers will be set up to take the load.
31  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The hoarding problem on: January 28, 2013, 10:22:51 PM
I am a hoarder... mostly because there is basically nothing to spend them on in the UK yet! I pay for a VPN with them, thats it.
I hope more vendors accept it soon. Hardly anyone has head of BTC in the uk!

Its probably a good thing, slow and steady growth... though thats not whats happening today!!!

I'm liking Armory, seems to have the best feature set. I like the click to copy address as I'm always worried Ill mess it up with a right click and cut!

Its also got some anti-corruption ability or something... cant be safe enough.
Oh and it runs on linux which I am about to install on a laptop just for my coins... my precious!
33  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: January 28, 2013, 10:02:31 PM
Very wise restrictions, hoping mine will be lifted in the coming days so I can contribute  Cheesy

Hey I'm Jules... got into BTC over xmas 2012 and am hoping to have 300 before it blows up too much!!

Love the technology, love the potential and the kick ass community!

35  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOWTO: create a 100% secure wallet on: January 28, 2013, 09:59:23 PM
Some good info here... I'm doing a clean install of Linux Mint on a laptop loaded with Armory and the main QT client... backing up to Wuala and a USB stick. The backups are in a truecrypt volume.
Hoping this will be safe enough, with also the ability to send/ receive coins if need be.

Must also think of a way of letting my family know how to access it should I die! Smiley
