21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin exit forever? on: July 05, 2024, 09:45:45 PM
This is a topic I really don’t wish to venture into. Even you wouldn’t exists forever to be able to have an overview of the ideas you now speculate over but, I can say Bitcoin could exists for a long time, long past our generation speculatively.
The future holds what the future holds and while we can only hope it would be better and as Bitcoin enthusiasts, we wish the technology doesn’t bring our worst fears if we have them to light, Bitcoin is here to stay. Even as you believe, do ensure your investing on my what you can afford to lose and never go all in. It’s the principle and playing ot safe is the best way to go about it.
Bitcoin could stay for long but nothing lasts forever. Changes are inevitable, so whether we like it or not, if the demand for bitcoin stops or replaced by other coins that perform better than bitcoin, bitcoin will definitely be out of the market. But we don't wish for it to happen that's why bitcoin developers are doing their best to enhance and make bitcoin more advanced and advantageous compared to any other form of investment or even digital currency.
22  Economy / Economics / Re: Not enough debt on: July 05, 2024, 08:45:45 PM
I think you are hitting the wrong concept here. Having debts will never make a person highly motivated to work and prosper, but it will only lessen the enthusiasm to work, because everything that he will get from his salary will only go in paying his debts. Seeing that, that's never productive at all. You don't work to live and enjoy the fruits of your labor, but you end up paying them all to get your debts fully paid.

Yes, the world needs debts at some point, but never to the extent of making it a source of motivation so that people won't resort into being lazy and unproductive. It should not be like that, but setting a positive goal should always be the main reason why people should work so hard so they can enjoy their bright future ahead of them.
23  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How tough is futures in comparison to spot trading on: July 05, 2024, 03:28:57 PM
I plan to learn futures trading and dive into it fully, I've been demo trading for a while now and I've been doing fine and I think I can make the big jump now maybe because the exchange I'm using is offering events for first time futures traders lol

But I'm sure you guys have traded futures a lot, how hard is it compared to spot?

Most newbies these days often think trading like gambling, that they can win instant big amount even without prior knowledge and reliable experience in the market. That’s how these crypto trading influencers have effected a huge impact to these new traders, and see them almost losing in the end.

Spot trading is very much different from futures trading, knowing the fact that spot trading is preferred by most risk-averse traders while futures trading is only good for those who have high experiences in the market and would always want to stay high risk traders. One thing is common of them, both are susceptible to losses most particularly if the trader itself turns into a gambler, not a real trader that creates reliable trading decisions.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Parents on childs savings bank accounts are waste of time if not saving on BTC on: July 05, 2024, 02:56:27 PM
Good point and this is how the actual middle-class parents stuck but due to their ignorance they save money as fiat which is completely wrong, they can choose the best possible options like gold if they are not willing to take risk with volatile assets such as crypto or even stocks because gold is proven to be the best that holds it's value and they can set a target of having this much amount of gold and then they can set another asset which can be different than just storage of value.
All this discussion can honestly just be boiled down to one solution: Diversification.

I think parents should allocate money both for savings and investments. Save money in fiat but also invest in assets whether it is crypto or gold or real estate. I think both can be very helpful to their children when the time comes.
Parents are supposed to do that, however not all parents are optimistic about investments most particularly when it comes to volatile ones. They prefer to just save purely and just withdraw it when their kids have reached their mature age. So we cannot hold parents of this type. But compared to this new era, parents are more open into digital investments and are willing to invest their funds than to just let it sleep in the bank. Nevertheless, diversification is a good thing. At least they save both in fiat and bitcoin, so that if bitcoin price loses its value, there’s still fiat that they can use for more profits production.
25  Economy / Economics / Re: Lessons learned after striving to save money at the age of 30. on: July 04, 2024, 11:27:26 PM
For the past decade, saving money would get you nowhere. It might change now as long as interest rates stay where they are at but if you started savings by putting little by little of your extra funds In a savings account, most of that money would of evaporated due to inflation.

This is why most wealthy people aren’t affected by inflation because they own assets like stocks, real estate, gold, bitcoin, etc.

This goes to say that saving will not get us wealthy but investing is. Although we don't really aim to be financially wealthy but at least we can secure and enjoy our future retirement and we can leave some inheritance into our offspring. That's exactly the reason why we don't just need to focus on enjoying the present life, but we should also learn to navigate our future as well by saving and investing from time to time when opportunities are available.
26  Economy / Speculation / Re: Let's Hold Strong, Not Hope for a Drop! on: July 04, 2024, 03:21:17 PM
I can't believe some people want the price of Bitcoin to drop right now so they can buy. Why not just DCA and continue buying so that the once we have bought can grow as the price increases? Maybe those who have not bought are wishing the price to drop so that they can buy including those who have managed to buy only, they also want the price to go on.

OP, don't be surprised that even if the price goes down a lot those wishing for it to go down won't still buy at all. I get to understand with time that most person are not true investors but procrastinators and people who don't believe in the future if they buy Bitcoin now.
True investors have different mindset from fake ones. Bitcoin real investors will definitely push to buy regardless of its price, that’s how deep their faith in bitcoin is. But for those who only want to create hype, even if the price gets too low, they will still never enter bitcoin investment and will always have alibis like this or like that. In short, they really have no plans to invest in bitcoin from the start. They’re just fooling around to distract those who are highly motivated to buy bitcoin even at a small amount.
27  Economy / Economics / Re: Will AI taking people jobs and make the world worse? on: July 03, 2024, 11:47:49 PM
There is a saying i came across that says " AI won't take your job but those who have the knowledge and knows how to effectively use it will take your job".
In otherwards, it is important people try and adapt to new innovation and learn it to fit in the current standard. Many people still operates in the 19th century while the whole world is rapidly advancing in tech.
I think AI can be considered dangerous when there are too many of them doing basically all human functions, e.g like having a human-like AI that do chores around the homes and offices.

With how advanced and innovative AI is, it will really come to that point that AI will be given task to manage the house and office chores, but I don't think it will be as effective and efficient like how humans are capable to. The best solution here is that people should never let AI make an edge over them. People should never be lazy but should always focus on their job's productivity, so that the company owner will never resort into using AI to make all jobs done without spending too much money and time.
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About betting on live events. on: July 01, 2024, 02:42:39 PM
And in baseball, if other team leads by over 10 points on round 2, i am betting on it.

Although you may succeed in some games, you can't apply the same method to different games. If our job was only to determine the winner of the game we are watching, it would be easier, as there are statistics online comparing the teams playing. In that case, the best team should be our bet.

In the real gambling world, it's all about the odds and the point spread. Regardless of which team you bet on, as long as they cover the spread, you will be the winner. For the odds, if you bet on odds like 1.25, you'll likely win most of the time, but you need to win 4 times to get a 100% return on your money. So, the odds and spread are the biggest factors, and you need to analyze them carefully. This way, you can not only win most of the time but also grow your bankroll, which is the main basis for determining if your strategy is successful or not.
29  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: July 01, 2024, 02:08:01 PM
Since LeBron sacrificed by lowering his salary, can they successfully sign Klay Thompson?

This has been the rumor now about Klay going to the Lakers. I think this would really help the team. The Lakers are not a good 3-point shooting team, and with Klay on board, they'll have a real threat from the outside, as long as Klay gets his consistency. I'm really anticipating this news to come out. From what I've seen in the groups I've joined, they said that Klay is sure to land with the Lakers, but it hasn't been announced yet.

And with a lot of rumors online including this article, it tells that it will be happening soon.

30  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: July 01, 2024, 01:07:11 PM
So I was looking for the betting odds for Gergia vs Philippines but it's not yet available, maybe I'm too early because the game will be on July 4, 2024, so still few more days although the Olympic qualifier will commence on July 2. As i was checking, I see this article on the list of schedules. and also see the teams that are already qualified.

Quote
The winners of each OQT will join the eight teams already qualified for Paris 2024:

France
USA
Canada
Australia
South Sudan
Japan
Serbia
Germany

So Japan already in the list, it's the only Asian country that has qualified, who knows Philippines will be added.
Yes they are in the list because they have win games during the FIBA world cup.
This team have improved a lot since they already have 2 NBA players, Rui Hachimura and Yuta Watanabe.. while the Philippines at the present line up, we don't have any, unless Clarkson will play, but he'd rather not because the current Gilas team are doing well already.
Thanks for bringing up that important information. I only knew about Hachimura, but I've seen Watanabe before when he was playing with the Suns. I'm not sure where he is playing now.

Not having NBA players is not an issue for our team. The fact that we were able to compete against a strong team like Poland shows that we are ready for Georgia and Latvia. We know it's a tough battle, and the betting odds may say we are the heavy underdogs, but that's fine.

Do you think we have a chance? (yes/no)

of course, just be optimistic, we might even qualify in the Olympics. Just trust Tim Cone as he'll do some magic.

It's good to know I have my fellow Filipino here believed on what Gilas can do. Yeah, let's surprise the world.
31  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you recognize a match fixing? on: July 01, 2024, 09:41:27 AM
These are just my opinion based on my observation. How about you? what do you think?
You have a point about match fixing but I think that is the old pattern but nowadays in franchise tournaments not only one player but the whole group knows about it. This is just my guess. I see nothing like that in some sports betting especially franchise cricket tournaments. At times certain behavior of the players definitely indicates that they have been involved in some kind of fixing in that match. But since there is no official report on fixing, there is no discussion about them. Nowadays it is considered a part of the game. I have seen some gamblers continue to bet after observing that this would be fixing match.
It would be hard to expect a group to fix the game because it would be too obvious and would hurt the league a lot if they got caught, especially without a fall guy. My thought is that maybe there's only one or two players in a team rigging the game without the league's knowledge or instruction.

If a league were to instruct a game to be rigged, they wouldn't use a player but rather the referees, as it's easier for them to get the job done. The league would always have a fall guy in such scenarios, just like this one.

32  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the reputation or guarantee of casino sites being advertised here? on: July 01, 2024, 08:53:30 AM

Also, I considers this bitcointalk platform to be highily esteemed and reputational and so doing, they could also and only lias with reputable firms to maintain their own dignity.

You just answered your quuestion. Because the forum has a great reputation, they'll ( us) not allow to advertise a scam casino whether it's true advertising slot or signature campaign, and as you noticed if you have checked the gambling section, you see that there are some casinos who had some negative tagged and they have been wearing it for awhile since it will not be remove until the accusation is settled. So if you are looking for a place to search a casino with good reputation, this is the right place, out home.

34  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the reputation or guarantee of casino sites being advertised here? on: June 30, 2024, 11:54:53 AM
You are right, reputation is a big factor for casinos. However, don't overthink it too much or place blame. If a casino with a previously good reputation ruins it, the only entity to blame is the casino itself. You can see many casinos on gambling boards, but their good reputation isn't guaranteed forever. They need to take care of it to maintain the community's trust. If they don't, gamblers will look for other casinos, and those with bad reputations will be left behind, as no one will trust them anymore.

Regarding advertising through signature campaigns, don't worry. We have responsible managers who stop promoting a casino if it starts to scam people. They will also advise members to remove its signature. So you see, we are one big community supporting the betterment of everyone here

Rumors going around that LeBron is opting out of his contract and resigning for less money and a longer than expected contract. This will allow the Lakers to use their full MLE to sign a better player to fill out the team. Maybe this was the give back for them drafting Bronny. Sort of funny. They’re basically going to take Bronny’s pay out of LeBron’s check.
LeBron's trying to get that championship one last time, maybe. This could be another historic moment if he and his son win a championship together. LeBron probably doesn't need money now since he has made a lot from his max contracts before, so it's about time for him to cut his contract a bit to make way for more role players that could improve their team. Good luck to him and Bronny; hopefully, this plan will work out.

I don't think LeBron has much of a chance of becoming a champion. The Lakers were not very assertive this season, we will have a similar season again.
It will be a great pleasure just to watch LeBron and his son on the same team. Nothing like this has ever happened in history.
I really want to watch how LeBron will play with his son. He is still much more athletic than many young players and is good enough to survive the whole season, and his motivation will be very high when he steps on the same arena with his son Smiley

I believe that as long as LeBron is healthy, the team is still considered a championship contender. LeBron is not an ordinary player; once he is in the playoffs, he can be very dangerous. However, if there are no significant changes to the lineup, I think they'll end up with the same outcome as last season.

Bronny won't make much of a contribution to the team since he isn't really a superstar, so we can't expect him to have a significant impact. This offseason, it would be interesting to see if the Lakers can sign a free agent with championship experience. I think Klay Thompson is the only one on the list now, but it's uncertain if KT would be fine with a lower salary.
36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Teofimo Lopez vs Steve Claggett WBO Super Lightweight Title - June 29 on: June 30, 2024, 07:20:40 AM
Thanks, Claggett though is a tough costumer here, a volume puncher but he has no power. But Teo Lopez looks very uncomfortable in this fight and just wanting to fight in the corner and not in the middle, so it's weird strategy for him.

Are we going to see a upset here? Hard to score the fights as it based on Lopez few punches but with power and just countering, but Claggett is the more aggressive and throwing a lot of punches. Lopez eye is swelling, it means that he is getting in Lopez with that volume.

So let's see if Lopez can pull through in the last next of the fight. He needs to show something here, otherwise another lackluster performance and not impressively.

Claggett kept coming forward and made Teo look bad, but he did not win many rounds. Claggett looked more like a sparring partner, rather than a world champion contender. Coming in with seven losses on his record, we expected that Teo would dominate but it was yet another underwhelming performance.

At 140 lbs Teo does not have the devastating knockout power that defined the early part of his career. He is also not the greatest technician so he will likely continue to struggle against these types of opponents. He needs to fight somebody like Haney or Ryan Garcia to bring out the best in him, but unfortunately those fighters’ careers are currently in limbo.

I like how Teo handle the fight, he didn't rush things and try to go for a KO although he is capable of doing it. He keep his defense and punished Claggett everytime he makes mistake by being overly aggressive. That was a mismatch and I agree that it looks like a sparring match up for Teo as Claggett could not even land a solid punch that could change the momentum of Teo.

Well done for Teo, it's a unanimous win for him. So next fight for Teo, who would it be? Any rumors after the fight?
37  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: June 29, 2024, 10:41:08 PM
Gilas made us proud with just a 2-point game against a team ranked number 15 in the FIBA world standings. That's impressive.

Kai's value was evident in that game. His presence in the paint made it difficult for Poland to attack easily. Just like in the last tune-up game, it was the opponent's great 3-point shooting that hurt Gilas. Overall, it was a good performance because it was a close game. I love their improvement. They fell short, but that's fine because it was already close. With just a little fine-tuning, especially on the FT side, they'll get it next time.

I guess they are well prepared now for the qualifiers. Good luck to Gilas.
38  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Important advice: store your keys on a secure medium, not online in a cloud on: June 29, 2024, 09:59:30 PM
Storing online is always a bad decision. Know that everything you store online is own by the system itself, not by us. That's why in terms of seed phrases or keys, secure it in an offline storage, certainly not online, or else you'll gonna wake up one day seeing the other person has already access your file or wallet. Just learn to avoid it by all means.

My suggestion is just hid your seed phrase or keys somewhere that you think others won't be suspicious. Or just bury it, but it will also be at risk when there is flood or fire nearby.
39  Economy / Economics / Re: The Higher the capital the higher the returns on: June 29, 2024, 08:58:40 PM
Is everything so simple?

So where does the capital come from?

Who cares? It's not the theme of the topic.
He told as a very basic truth that when it comes to an appreciating asset like bitcoin, investing more will bring more profit. There's always risk but those who invest know about it.
To be honest, many people have capital lying around, but they don't want to take any risks, even small ones.
What is important here is that you shouldn't focus on saving fiat money. Save in appreciating assets.

Those who don't know their investments well are those who are fearful risking their funds most especially in a volatile asset like bitcoin. And most likely, these are the people who are obsessed in making money through fiat, not in bitcoin where its value appreciates undoubtedly.

Now, talking about bigger capital, higher returns, that's more possible with bitcoin. But if you do it with other coins, I doubt if you can still be as profitable like bitcoin. Don't just invest, but always invest for long term, and bitcoin is a perfect example for that.
40  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ways to invest in Bitcoin. on: June 29, 2024, 08:37:04 PM
The ways to invest in Bitcoin the best strategy for now is only Dollar Cost Averaging and holding at the same time this is the easy way and the cheap way.

Lump sump strategy is of course a good ways to gain huge profit but this must be combined with buy at the dip but even professional trade sometimes still missed about the dip
Well, to make it easy most especially for beginners, just buy at the dips and hold for long term, that way you can assure good accumulation of bitcoin. And add on it DCAing regularly using spare money, I think in less time, one will have a good amount of bitcoin portfolio in the long run. Just never sell at a lower position, wherein one gets panic and decide to sell even at a lower price in order to prevent more losses, because that will never be a good and profitable strategy for a wise investor. Focus on your goal, by not getting emotional easily when bitcoin price experience market price correction.
