I think its kind of crappy that the author was doing us a favor by setting up a pool first only to get undercut by someone else. Especially when the author isn't pre-mining. Then again I'm guessing his pool will start first so we will see.
Well, 4% is not a favor. It's gauging. Had he gone with 1-2% I would support his pool in principle. But 4% is almost unheard of. Also, a diversity of pools is useful when some will inevitably go down. I'm not quite sure I'd call this gouging. 3-4% is fairly standard with bigger pools these days. Plus, we still don't know if he might be using that extra fee for giveaways and bounties. |

Agreed, I'm just going to stick with the authors pool since he was nice enough to add it and not premine. But he should release a wallet soon if he actually wants people to mine it. It's getting close to the deadline he set and haven't heard anything from him
I believe he has said that the wallet itself won't be available until the official 23:00 UTC launch. I think people need to calm down and just be patient. Unless he delays again, which, would be kinda hilarious and sad at the same time. |

The "switch" happens on the fly, so everybody who already pointed his mining hardware to it, will automatically start mining catcoins? This isn't possible unless the wallet is released before the official 23:00 UTC start time. This pool will still need to change things up in that regard, I doubt it will be seemless. Depends on he has it setup though. |

4% fee on kr105's pool (this is nuts). AlexUK 1%, Mikellev 0%. So I guess this With 3 pools fighting for blocks at diff 0.00024414, this will be the mother of all orphans  So don't get mad at your pool when you don't get as many coins as you expected... will not be a problem. I'm compiling the Windows wallet now.. This sounds like a trap, proceed with caution when someone other than the author is trying to compile a wallet for a coin not released yet. |

Personally I feel like the 4% fee is acceptable considering that he's not pre-mining the coin like so many other scamcoin creators tend to do with stuff like this. I'd hate to see everyone jump ship to another pool just because it has a lower fee.
I mean, this is bitcoin and selfish is the way to go typically, but.

FYI im building a pool - info should be up in 1-2 hours.
Its going to be setup under Phoenixcoin initially (to get the workers and registrations sorted out), and then will switch to Catcoin as soon as it launches!
The official one or just another one? |

What do you think ist more efficient? Solomining or pool while the difficult is low?
If you do not have 10000khash-10MH just forget about solo mining. It is my opinion, it might happened i am wrong. That's the problem. Whenever a new scryptcoin launches, everyone hops on the bandwagon, so even if you could find blocks from solo mining odds are the genesis pool has already found it first. If you only have a card or two I would recommend pool mining from the get go. |
