21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What could really stop bitcoin now? on: February 23, 2013, 03:35:46 PM
1. Shutting down the internet.
2. Having one entity buying all Bitcoins existing at the moment and RIPing them.
3. If NP==P (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P_versus_NP_problem). But this would change the whole world. Not just Bitcoin.
4. Loss of trust by the community.
5. Finding Satoshi and discovering he's the United States of America, or North Korea. Whatever makes the conspiracy more Hollywood style.

22  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do you see bitcoins in 5 year? on: February 23, 2013, 03:13:46 PM
I second nwbitcoin.

Bitcoin is starting a revolution in which digital currency gets legitimacy by the common people.
With that being said, it is still far from being accessible to the average person and has major flaws in terms of theft/loss.

More and more companies ( e.g. Ripple, Dwolla) put their money where their mouth is ( so to speak Smiley, but this does not mean Bitcoin is the winning currency.
The Digital Currency is.

In 5 years I see Bitcoin getting more competition, but it wont go away.
The community has grown so much and still is, it will back it up with more apps, more common use and more awareness.

In terms of value? I have nooooo idea. Hopefully 1000 USD ? ( wishful thinking perhaps...)

Hey guys,
Requesting to whitelist me.

I find myself able to answer many of these posts here, yet I can't due to this restriction.
Time wise - I am a newbie. But in the past two month I have opened a verified account in mgtox, also using Bitstamp and helping them translate their site to Hebrew.
Learned a lot about Bitcoin and am becoming an enthused.

I am also active in the Israeli Bitcoin Community.

Thank you

It's all about supply and demand.
If we consider the Bitcoin as Gold - then the more people use it, the more people buy with it.
The less there are Bitcoins to provide. Hence - price goes up. Hence we start using mBTC.

mBTC is a form of psychology where you don't use 1 bitcoin to buy a house or 0.0001 bitcoin to buy a bubble gum.
Numbers in our mind should stay correlated to nowadays currencies.

29  Other / Beginners & Help / Internet Archive asks for donations in the digital currency on: February 23, 2013, 11:34:33 AM
Hey Guys,
Just wanted to share this article.
http://thenextweb.com/insider/2013/02/21/after-employees-opt-to-be-paid-in-bitcoin-the-internet-archive-asks-for-donations-in-the-digital-currency/

Internet Archive is a non-profitable organisation.
They basically keep the history of the internet as a form of Digitial Library.
The employees have requested to get paid with Bitcoins.
Here is where you can donate Bitcoins.
http://blog.archive.org/2013/02/21/employees-to-be-paid-in-bitcoin-please-donate/

I say - lets give them a strong support as this is another milestone in the legitimacy of the Bitcoin.

thanks,
