21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: April 28, 2014, 10:20:05 AM
MaidSafeCoin now listed in the top ten at http://coinmarketcap.com/
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Masterchain.info private Fiat on the blockchain with distributed exchange on: April 26, 2014, 10:35:30 AM
Congrats Graz!

I've been using the masterchain.info wallet to do simple sends and I'm happy with the results.

I'm confused about these new currencies though.  Are they implemented as master protocol user-currencies or
something else?   I have no idea what a meta-chain or a nested chain is.

Also, do you have any plans to support trading of MaidSafe coins now that the crowdsale has finished?

23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Buy MaidSafeCoin (MSAFE) with Bitcoin, ~47% below IPO price.Offer valid only 24h on: April 26, 2014, 07:29:21 AM
I'm selling MSAFE for bitcoins at ~47% below IPO price! Offer valid only for 24h. First come first serve.
My current selling price is 0.00003150 bitcoin/MSAFE. Only trades worth 1 bitcoin or more.

For each bitcoin you get 31,746 MSAFE!!
IPO was offering 17,000 MSAFE for each bitcoin

I accept escrow, however, you can check I have a high reputation both in bitcointalk and localbitcoins. If escrow is required, expenses will be paid by buyer.

PM or leave a message here if interested!

They were offering 23,800 per bitcoin during the crowdsale.  (17,000 + 40% bonus)

I wonder if masterchain.info (web wallet) will be implementing MaidSafe support soon.
Their wallet works fine for simple sends with Mastercoin.  Would it not be trivial to add MaidSafe to it?
They are in beta at least.

Actually, it looks like masterchain.info is beyond beta now.
So can we not get them to add maidsafe?
They're already handling a bunch of master protocol currencies.

I have a potentially n00b question.  I used a Bitcoin QT wallet to send my Bitcoin.  I had no reason to think that I needed to do otherwise based on what I read.  So I should receive the Maidsafe coins in that wallet, right?  Or did I need a Mastercoin wallet?  I'm not worried about their process; they update their progress consistently on safecoin.io and I have received what I think was part of the testing of their automated dispersal...I am just wondering now (Lolz if it is too late) if I should have used a Mastercion wallet...

Yes. Your Maidsafe will be tansfered to the address you sent from in your Bitcoin QT wallet.

http://www.safecoin.io/ gives you 2 places to look to see your balance.

They've processed 512 out of about 1800 total transfers.

Sorry guys if I could steal this conversation away from you jerk-offs working out your legal defence for a second  Grin

Is possible to get on the topic on how these maidsafe coin are going to be sent? and what the progress is on this front?

Omniwallet is the best (only?) option right now

MasterChest wallet v0.4 is coming, but was delayed a bit. I think the new ETA is 7 days from now.

Oh ok Omni wallet is working then? I'm re-index blockchain now so could try that when I'm finished but paranoid about untrusted .exe and alpha software for transmitting this kind of sum!! What are your thoughts?

Omniwallet ... but read the disclaimers.

Both Omni and Masterchest are Alpha Software.
Use at your discretion.
No warranty is provided.

Yes, it's amazing that MaidSafe chose to go with the Master Protocol, with the software at this early stage ... they had timing constraints, and didn't want to delay it.

Im not at home near my pc where I can search through this thread, but I would appreciate a quick link to where I can actually check my maidsafecoins

https://masterchest.info

If you paid with MSC then they should show up.

If you paid BTC then they are working on transferring the MaidSafeCoins but only a small fraction have been done so far.

28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Official Mastercoin Foundation, Master Protocol & Mastercoin Thread on: April 23, 2014, 06:16:40 AM
Does anyone know if omni wallets been properly tested and if it allows trade of assets?

Omniwallet is still in alpha testing.  They only do MSC/TSMC/BTC at the moment from what I can see.

This just in ..appears to be an official press release from MaidSafe

30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Official Mastercoin Foundation, Master Protocol & Mastercoin Thread on: April 23, 2014, 01:33:19 AM
Does anyone know when the Maidsafe will be issued? Also how do you see what assets you have on the online wallet?

https://masterchest.info/ is working now.

If you sent MSC then your MaidSafe balance should show up.

If you sent BTC then it may take a while to show up.
I think they said 24-48 hours for the BTC to be converted.

Looking at MaidSafe exodus address on blockchain.info

https://blockchain.info/address/1ARjWDkZ7kT9fwjPrjcQyvbXDkEySzKHwu

It shows the folowing warning:

"Warning! this bitcoin address contains transactions which may be double spends. You should be extremely careful when trusting any transactions to or from this address."

What's up with that?

edit:  I just refreshed the page, now the warning is gone.

My btc address : 1HuN7HxBn6Ae76MsojMgtKsV6CMvzE2fJx

Have somebody tried to calculate market cap for this coin ?

$10 million from fundraising, $12.5 at the last set price (17000 per bitcion), with 90% more coins to be farmed by contributers to the system over 10 years

This press release seems to indicate that 15% of that 90% remaining will be taxed to be paid to the Maid developers:

http://www.coindesk.com/decentralized-internet-project-maidsafe-raise-funds-via-safecoin-sale/

I am curious to know who controls the distribution of that ongoing mined tax?

The MaidSafe Foundation would be in charge of distributing the 15% according to the white paper ...
https://github.com/maidsafe/Whitepapers/blob/master/Project-Safe.md

I'm not clear if the 15% is taken out of farmers' earnings.
It could be created separately based on the total amount farmed on the network. ??

33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ann] Safecoin maidsafecoin on: April 20, 2014, 03:23:40 AM
so you need to sell about 429,496,729/17000 per btc =25264 btc for the crowd-sale period?

am i right? that's really a big amount of btc.

If only half are sold the other half will be burned.
That would still be a successful sale I think.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Official Mastercoin Foundation, Master Protocol & Mastercoin Thread on: April 16, 2014, 04:47:14 AM

Or does it mean I just send the bitcoin to the provided address on April 22nd and mastercoin will automatically convert the bitcoins to MaidSafeCoins.  And then all I have to do is use the mastercoin client (i.e. masterchest) with my bitcoin wallet.dat file to see my MaidSafeCoins because my wallet.dat file has my private keys?

Thanks in advance!

My incorrect assumption is quoted in the previous post but JR has already cleared this up.

Actually, MaidSafe is coinciding their fundraiser with the release of the first version of our user currency feature, and their coins will be entirely purchased and traded exclusively within the Master Protocol. The bitcoin address is run by a trusted third party who will will receive bitcoins and then send Mastercoins to the fundraiser and then send the resulting SafeCoins back to the purchaser, making the process a little more streamlined for some people who don't already own MSC.

So the SafeCoins (or MaidSafeCoins) will arrive back at the address from which you sent the bitcoin.
You will then be able to see your balance with any of the Mastercoin wallets. This assumes the wallet handles currency ID other than Mastercoin.

Whether there's bitcoin in them or not, everybody is going to want one of these!

Any comment on how sidechains will make Mastercoin redundant?

Are sidechains secured by a separate set of miners? And will transaction fees from side-chain transactions be the only thing supporting securitization of that side-network? (not entirely rhetorical, I actually am not too familiar with this)

Side chains could be merge-mined with Bitcoin according to the Coindesk article...
http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-core-developers-bitcoin-side-chains/

If there is a competitive advantage to using a side chain then Mastercoin could always switch from the Bitcoin
blockchain to a side chain.

Actually it wouldn't have to be a side-chain.  It could be an alt-coin chain or some other 2.0 chain.

Ah, I see.  I didn't know user currency was so close to being released.
The first Mastercoin-derived currency being worth millions of dollars would be huge!

They say in the white paper that they are aiming to raise about 8 million USD.
There is no mention of 100 million or a billion but each to his own math.

Got a thread back, nice one
Whats is the reationship between master coin to safe coin?

apart from the fact you can buy safe coins with mastgercoins
what links the two together, does safe coin exist on top of the master protocol?, as i thought that wasn;t the case due to teh way its meant to be used,

Below is an excerpt from https://github.com/maidsafe/Whitepapers/blob/master/Project-Safe.md

7. SAFE Crowd Sale

The crowd sale will be operated as follows:

A fixed number of MaidSafeCoin will be issued during the crowd sale

The sale will last until all coins have been purchased (circa $8million) or 30 days has passed, whatever happens first

Within that period, public funds in the form of bitcoin and mastercoin can be sent to exodus bitcoin address via www.BuySafeCoins.com

Each participant will purchase an intermediary coin, MaidSafeCoin

A quantity of 429,496,729 coins will be available for purchase, this equates to 10% of all safecoins

Early buyer incentives are in place to reward early participation (see chart below)

It is estimated that participants will purchase 17,000 MaidSafeCoins for 1 bitcoin

All purchases and transctions will be recorded on the Bitcoin block chain via the Mastercoin protocol

The deposit of funds in the exodus address will auto generate the appropriate level of MaidSafeCoins, they will be reciepted in the participants mastercoin wallet

Once the full network is launched these will be traded on a 1:1 basis for safecoin

Each participants safecoin wallet will be credited as the full network is launched and they create their SAFE network accounts

In the event that not all coins are sold, the remaining coins will be burned

All details are available at www.safecoin.io

</excerpt>

How could the MaidSafeCoin be recorded via the Mastercoin protocol?  There is no 'user currency' feature yet.
Instead they are using a Mastercoin-style fundraiser.  They are going to announce their 'exodus address' on 22-April.
There will apparently be a separate 'exodus address' if you wish to send Mastercoin instead of bitcoin.
