21  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Break even difficulty by hardware efficiency (power cost = value of BTC) on: October 25, 2013, 07:59:04 AM
1 HP ≈ 746 watts

1 HP ≈ Burning 641 calories an hour

300 calories = 75kg person, cycling at <10 mph, for an hour = (746/641) * 300 watts = 349.14 watts = 349.14 Joules/second = 384 GHash ≈ 2 bitcents @ 3 PHash ≈ $4 @ $200 per BTC

So, with an appropriate exercise machine attached to a miner, your 1 hour workout would also give you some Bitcoin rewards. Cool

Then you would have to order pizza for BTC to replenish calories lost on mining. Just like an ordinary coal miner :-)

What resistor should be used to get ~0.8V? Will 2.7K be ok for August boards? Did anyone solder new resistor on October ones?

I have pencil modded October boards down to 1.700 and August to 1.100. With heatsinks (on back of regulator only) and 120CFM Delta fans. But every day some boards freak out as resistance drops due to the heat. So I have decided to change resistors, but I am not sure witch one to choose.

1-2 mails every week - no response for a month.

They even did not contact they own business partner Fedex. They have shipped parcel with MR to me, and did not put any mail or phone number on it. It was sitting on customs while Fedex tried to contact them for a week...
24  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: October 18, 2013, 08:21:04 AM
Received 4 H boards today. The H board have reduced no of decoupling caps and the value of Resistor in the divider is changed.

In English?   Grin
FCUK? Grin

changed for the good or bad?

can you overclock them?  and how well if so?

If it is the same as on EU version, the resistor is now 1.800, I was able to get it down to 1.720 (pencil mod). It took my full kit from 420 to 530 GHS.
Some stable issues arise after few days, but putting heat sinks on back of regulators helped.

OK ... It is over
aaaand ... the auction was shit ... What else was to expect.

5 minutes before the end you could not bid ... The server would not respond at all.
So it was impossible to buy something unless you made your bids hours in advance.
Meaning most of the units have been sold very cheap, YiFu and the technically incompetent idiots at Tradehill did loose out big time.

   one4many

How did it end? What were the winning bids?

So far I can say with certainty 1 of my boards is toast, dosnt work, starts off at 60gh/s and drops to 0. got 4 others that don't work well.

You can try to set all chip speed to 55 and turn autotune off. Let it run for few hours and check results. If you have multimeter check what  voltage you are runing on the 60->0 GH board.

(for all how to guides check darkfriend topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=287590.0)

Hehe Punin no offence here, but after the announcement of a lot better than expected performance KNC 28nm chip you begin  55nm chips sale started.
All we  known that soon BF chip will be worth a penny.

1) You seam to not understand what you are talking about. It is not important if it is 28nm, 55nm or 1nm. The power efficiency is important.
2) If you order now, knc will not ship until November 15. I believe punin will offer immediete delivery after shipping current batch.
30  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNCMiner REfusing refunds on: September 26, 2013, 03:56:15 PM
My "dwa grosze":

1) KNC is registered in Sweden in EU. If you buy anything online you have right to cancel the purchase even 14 days after delivery. It does not apply to "professional buyers" such as entrepreneurs.
2) It is possible that you do not have to return the product in 14 days. You must inform seller in 14 days that you wish to cancel but than you have 14 more days to return the device. Seller even must pay back your shipping costs. So free mining for 28 days.
3) There is however way to block consumer right to cancel the order and return the product. If it is "personalized" before shipping it is considered "unreturnable". Now if you thought that KNC is adding you worker settings to the unit becouse they are nice, think again :-)
4) KNC and all other vendors might write anything they want in terms of ordering and shipping. If they are contrary to the consumer rights laws then laws are more important. Even more, you can get high penalties in EU if you even write such things on your website. (for example, in Poland you will get fine if you write that buyer sends back the product he don't like on his own cost).
5) In Poland (and several other countries) if you are not informed about your right to cancel the order in 10/14 days (in Poland it is not 14 but 10 days), you have 3 months to cancel the order. 3 months FROM THE DAY YOU FOUND OUT THAT YOU HAVE RIGHT TO CANCEL (!!!).

(DISCLAIMER: I am not 100% sure that 14 more days limit is respected in Sweden, althoug it is in Poland and several other EU countries that I am shipping my goods to. Similar with product-personalization - it is the trick many vendors use, but I am not an expert on Swedish local regulations, although they are similar in whole EU.)
31  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Phonebloks mining relevant on: September 23, 2013, 02:41:36 PM
Phone goes to low-battery-usage mode if you aren't using it at the moment. If it would mine while idling then it would eat-up whole battery in no time. Especially that you must have internet connection to submit shares.
32  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Goliath Miner on: September 18, 2013, 02:36:41 PM
I predict BTC68 will be the cost

$14 USD a GH

At that price there wouldn't be much point in buying. I'd guess 45-50 BTC would be a decent spot.

20-30 btc will be more attractive

And 0.5-1 BTC even more attractive.
33  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: September 14, 2013, 07:35:43 PM
punin, I am also waiting for answer to mailed question. I must take action in few days, there are deadlines I am forced to keep . It would be great if you find time to reply. Even info when you will have time would be something for now...
34  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TECHNOBIT S-HASH minig board and Bitfury October delivery chip distribution on: September 13, 2013, 08:46:48 PM
Is the price listed with or without VAT?
35  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: September 06, 2013, 09:42:46 AM
damn...

Is there anyway other than a reboot to get them restarted...

The hash for a bit, and get valid shares etc, but error rate seems higher than software likes...
Id rather have high errors and a few shares, than no errors and no shares tbh

Try to set Autotune off for whole card, and all chips speed to 54. Let them run for an hour then check .stat.log. You can also try setting whole card speed for 55 and 56. And pick the best results (after one hour test).

It helped with my poor performing hcards.
36  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: September 05, 2013, 05:32:15 PM
Hmmm. Another issue. I have disabled Autotune for all chips. I run miner with console output. And suddenly, after processing 800-1000 jobs, miner prints "SPI update chip xxx", and my Noncerate starts dropping drastically... If I check /run/shm/.stat.log chips have aIFDSo parameters.
How is it possible?
37  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: September 05, 2013, 01:23:24 PM
Update on H-card soldering issues.
I sent some H-cards to be examined and reworked, and most of them came out clean. The bridges seem to be caused by flux resin in over 95% of cases.

Should we follow this instructions: https://nuxx.net/wiki/Flux_Removal to clean all boards?
38  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: September 05, 2013, 12:56:21 PM
Are you sure? I'd say from my limited testing that stopping/starting the miner is enough for it to load a new /opt/bitfury/best.cnf

spiccioli
I can confirm this, with fairly extensive testing.

Yep, seems to be working. My poor Pi, it has been rebooted several times for no reason Sad

After rebooting best.cnf was copied into /run/shm. It looks like for first time after modifying /opt/bitfury/best.cnf you must reboot the device, and after that only miner process needs to be stopped and start again.

Thanks a lot!
39  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: September 05, 2013, 11:53:00 AM
My Kit has best performance after few minutes from start, before autotune starts messing with chip settings. After that everything falls down. Will it be ok to copy /run/shm/.stat.log to /opt/bitfury/best.cnf ? Or those files have different structure?

Also earlier when I have tried to modify settings I have fallen into problem. I have problem with using best.cnf for starting the miner. I made a copy of .best.log to best.cnf in /opt/bitfury directory, after that I have switched autotune off on few chips in .cnf file and saved the changes.
Then I have started the miner with console output in screen. After several minutes of mining if i open .stat.log all chips I have set to not use autotune, are set to autotune on, and have different speeds then those in /opt/bitfury/best.cnf file. Also there is no copy of best.cnf in /run/shm directory after miner starts. Am I suppose to copy best.cnf into /run/shm manually before starting the miner?

.stat.log and best.cnf have the structure. Keep in mind that .stat.log is changing. If I were you, I would copy the .best.log.

Restarting the miner does not work. You need to reboot the Pi (sudo reboot)

Thanks for the answer. So if I understand you right, the /opt/bitfury/best.cnf will copy itself to /run/shm/best.cnf when I start the miner, but after modifying /opt/bitfury/best.cnf I must reboot the Pi?
